• Taming XCode’s auto-complete options

  I am fairly new to XCode and the Objective-C language. When I am instantiating a class, for example an NSMutableArray, XCode will provide a whole lot of auto-complete options. Even for an empty class which simply extends an NSObject has many options, most of which seem completely useless. What is the reason for having so many auto-complete options, or can they be "tamed" in the preferences?

• Using ILDASM with Visual Studio 2008

  I just installed Visual Studio 2008, and am looking to use the Microsoft Intermediate Language Disassembler (ILDASM.exe) to look at some DLLs. Problem is, "ildasm" is not recognized on the command line, and I cannot find ildasm.exe anywhere in my VS 2008 install directory (e.g. c:\programs\Visual_Studio_9.0\). Any ideas? UPDATE: Found it! At C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin This answer helped.

• WCF errors in VS 2010/.Net 4 using sample publish/subscribe app from IDesign website

  I am attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign). The application is an example of a publish/subscribe 'traffic-light' application that requires using VS 2010/.Net 4. This is my first attempt at using anything other than VS 2008/Net 3.5. Initially I recieved the following binding error: "Configuration binding extension 'system.serviceModel/bindings/ netOnewayRelayBinding' could not be found." What I want to be able to do is assign a Command, or use an event, so that when the user clicks on the Day it will notify the parent of the Day object that it has been clicked. I got an error stating: 'ResourceDictionary' root element requires a x:Class attribute to support event handlers in the XAML file. Either remove the event handler for the Executed event, or add a x:Class attribute to the root element. Which I think means that there is no code-behind file for a ResourceDictionary, or something to that effect. In any event, I'm not sure if I should be using Commands here, or somehow tying events to the Rectangle in question, or if this is even possible. I've seen various places where it sure looks like it's possible, I'm just unable to translate what I'm seeing into something that actually works, hence this post. Thanks in advance.

• Option 82 and dhcpd. "No free leases" for second computer

  There is DHCP server in network (isc-dhcpd-server-3.0 on FreeBSD 7.2) than gives one IP per switch port to every user via Option 82 The problem appears when user disconnects one of his computers and connects another(i.e notebook with different MAC address) then DHCPD puts to log "...network net1: no free leases", because there is record in leases file that this IP is already owned by another MAC. That second computer will have his IP only after default-lease-time (that is IIRC minimum 10min, and after 3min he usually calling support) or after deletion of dhcpd.leases file and restart of dhcpd. Is there a way to turn leases off at all, because we have strict binding between switch-port-ip?

  We're in the process of moving from NIS on our Linux systems to binding everything to Active Directory. The NIS environment follows the common standard used by many Linux distributions that a user's primary group is a group of the same name as the user (and of which the user is typically the only member). I have been informed that in the Active Directory environment, you may not have a group name with the same name as a user (specifically, that no two AD security objects may have the same name). This would seem to complicate the process of moving our group definitions into AD. It looks like we could maintain the NIS group information in AD using only POSIX attributes (e.g., not an actual AD security object), but that seems like a suboptimal fix (because we do really want to have the same view of group membership in both the Unix and AD worlds). Have you moved a large legacy NIS environment into Active Directory? How did you handle this situation?

I was reading a perfmon tutorial and from this list of essential counters I have found the following ones on my machine: PhysicalDisk\Bytes/sec_Total Network Interface\Bytes Total/Sec\nic name But I haven't found the following counters nowhere: Processor\% Processor Time_Total Process\Working Set_Total Memory\Available MBytes Where do I find them?   Hi All, I will restrict this to the three tables I am trying to work with Problem, Communications, and ProbComms. The scenario is that a Student may have many Problems concurrently which may affect their studies. Lecturers may have future communications with a student after an initial problem is logged, however as a Student may have multiple Problems the Lecturer may decide that the discussion they had is related to more than one Problem.   I'm a beginning programmer in the relevant areas to this question, so if possible, it'd be helpful to avoid assuming I know a lot already. I'm trying to import the OpenLibrary dataset into a local Postgres database. After it's imported, I plan to use it as a starting seed for a Ruby on Rails application that will include information on books. The OpenLibrary datasets are available here, in a modified JSON format: http://openlibrary.org/dev/docs/jsondump I only need very basic information for my application, much less than what is provided in the dumps. I'm only trying to get out book titles, author names, and relationships between books and authors. Below are two typical entries from their dataset, the first for an author, and the second for a book (they seem to have an entry for each edition of a book). The entries seem to lead off with a primary key, and then with a type, before including the actual JSON database dump. /a/OL2A /type/author {"name": "U. Venkatakrishna Rao", "personal_name": "U. OpenLibrary does not provide any tools for this themselves, they provide a simple unoptimized Python script for reading in sample data (which unlike the actual dumps comes in pure JSON format), but they estimate if that was modified for use on their actual data it would take 2 months (!) to finish loading the data. How can I read this into the database? I assume I'll need to write a program to do this. What language and any guidance on how I should do it to finish in a reasonable amount of time? The only scripting language I have any experience with is Ruby.

  I've got this kind of situation: I've got windows 2003 server with dns server on same machine. It is binded to adress for ex. siteA.com Now i want to add to this machine website which name will be siteB.com. I created a new website on IIS6 server with name siteB.com but I dont know how to set up a dns server. My primary DNS administrator created me an alias for my server and he describe it to me like this: 'site siteB.com is an aliase for siteA.com' and then he said that I have to configure my DNS server by my own. I've tried to add new alias in my existing DNS zone (for siteA.com) but it's binding FQDN name like this: siteB.SiteA.com which is wrong as I supose. Can anybody explain me how can I bind this 2 webiste to my server?
