• How can I further improve the quality of my home videos?

  So now that I have found out how to deinterlace my videos, I am wondering if there is other software out there that can further help improve the quality of my videos. Some other problems I have noticed is when you move the camera side to side very quickly you can notice tearing in the the picture. That is the top half of the frame doesn't line up with the bottom half, it appears that the bottom half is shifted to the right or left depending on which way the camera is moving. Shaky camera hand is also a problem in some videos. I don't expect any software to be able to correct these problems 100%, especially the shaky hand. I know that using a tripod or something of the sorts is the best way to prevent the shakes, but for preexsiting videos what are the best solutions I can use?

• Connecting two monitors at the corners

  I am using two separate X screens on two monitors and I would like them to be connected at the lower right corner. That is, if you move to the lower right corner of screen0 the mouse should appear at the upper left of screen1. I do not want an entire edge of each monitor to be permeable to the mouse. I modified the xorg.conf file like so: Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" Relative "Screen0" 1200 1000 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" EndSection (screen 0's resolution is 1280x1024) so there is a bit of overlap. However whenever I move the mouse to the bottom of screen0, the pointer appears at the upper left of screen1. And, the entire top of screen1 is permeable to the mouse and brings it to the lower left corner of screen0. I have tried various numbers in following the "relative" statement - if I put 1280 1024 the mouse does not cross over at all. If I use 1280 1023 the entire right side of screen0 is permeable. I haven't been able to find any documentation about how to explicitly tell the mouse where to crossover - is there some? It seems that xorg is being really aggressive in guessing where the mouse crossover should take place. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

  We have one domain and one sub-domain. Until last week both of them appear in first page of Google search for very important keyword. Unfortunately Google dropped our main domain from search results. our main site has been in first page for 5 years! About one year ago we build this sub-domain. It simply has been redirected to one of pages of main domain. For solving problem we upload a independent site for sub-domain because we guessed that Google think this is our main page of our site. But problem did not solved. What should we do? our main site offer main services and we we want that will be on first page. Shout down sub-domain? Redirect to main site? Put the link of our main site in sub-domain? (About one year ago we put link of this sub-domain to our main site. Google indexed it and continuously bring that to top.) changing in robots.txt ....

• Google Chrome with strange behavior

  I'm former Chromium-browser user, but after not upgrading the PPA for 2 months, I switched to Google Chrome browser yesterday. Everything is okay, except some strange behavior on some pages and crashing after loading "chrome://" configuration pages. The best known website with strange behavior is youtube, there is a picture what I see: When I open user menu in top right corner, it crashes that way and even after closing the menu, some parts of menu stay display. You may say it's Youtube problem, no, I have this problem at least on three other websites, here it is on Imgur: The problem isn't for the whole side, sometimes it happens from the middle of the screen. The interesting part is that it happens everytime in the same distance from the right border. When I check the DOM elements with the Developer tool, the overlay which shows element's position is rendered how it should be. What is more, if there is anchor after the crashed area, it works after clicking on it. Selecting text in crashed page is impossible. • Table Formatting in Excel 2007: How do I remove it?

  I've used the new Table Formatting option in Excel 2007. Now I can't remove it. I've dragged the little blue square up to the last cell on the top left, but it just won't go any further. In fact it just won't go at all. Clear all doesn't remove it. What does? I want my table back! I'm not a beginner with Excel, but this little annoyance has made me feel like on. • Apply email retention policy to Inbox but not subfolders?

  Our official email policy states that email older than 90 days in the Inbox is moved to Deleted Items, not including subfolders of the Inbox. This wasn't a problem to implement in Exchange 2003. In 2010, however, it appears that Policy Tags applied to the Inbox also apply to its subfolders. How can I prevent this from occuring?   So I have a 70 page pdf document that I'm trying to condense to a small booklet. I tried creating a formula to manually to perform it but it got ugly fast. 35,36,34,37,17,54,16,55,33,38,32,39,15,56,14,57,31,40,30,41,13,58,12,59 29,42,28,43,11,60,10,61,27,44,26,45,9,62,8,63,25,46,24,47,7,64,6,65 23,48,22,49,5,66,4,67,21,50,20,51,3,68,2,69,19,52,18,53,1,70 Once I print the booklet I should be able to cut the sheets in half and set the bottom half behind the top and staple it for a simple book. Which means Page 1 should have pages 35,36,17,54,34,37,16,55 Page 2 should have pages 33,38,15,56,32,39,14,57 And several pages later Page 9 should have pages 19,52,1,70,18,53 But manually doing this is a headache and it seems like the booklet function should contain functionality that can perform this. • How can I pin point a USB file transfer bottleneck in Unix?

  I'm experiencing very slow data transfer speeds over USB 2.0 on my nix box and was wondering how I can pin-point the cause of the problem. I've looked into iotop and top but the cpu and mem figures look normal (compared to guides I have checked). The box which is affected is Ubuntu 12.04 32bit Server running on an Asus EEE 701 2G model and I am transferring from the OS over USB 2.0 to an external HDD (which transfers at 30MB/s+ on Windows 7 on other machine). I get rsync write speeds of 1MB/s from OS to USB HDD which seems ridiculously slow. These speeds are consistent with other USB HDDs and sticks.

  Hi, I have an excel sheet for groceries. One column is the name, another is whether to buy it or not (checkbox) and another is the amount. I'd like to have a widget in the top row so that I start typing an item's name and it shows a list of matching items that I can select from, or if I continue to type and there's only one item, completes its name. When the last item is selected, other widgets show the amount, which I can edit and clicking 'check' will check the item in the list. I know this is kind of very specific, but am hoping someone can at least get me started. Thank you, Ittay

  I'm trying to figure out how exactly works the RAID 10 in linux with mdadm. I want to create a RAID 10 out of 4 partitions, let's say a, b, c and d. a and b are on the array 1, c and d array 2. So what I want is to have the couple a and b, c and d in RAID 0. Then on top of that, a RAID 1. The option in the mdadm command to configure the layout is -p, --layout with option : near, far, offset see here I want to keep my data safe if the array 1 fails for example, that would mean that every chunk of data are always copied on both arrays. How do I have to set my RAID 10, near or far ?

• Implementing Camera Zoom in a 2D Engine

  I'm currently trying to implement camera scaling/zoom in my 2D Engine. This is expected when looking at the code but i want the camera to zoom on the center of the screen. Any tips on how to do that are welcome. :)

• files appearing empty or only partially transferred on FTP server.

  firstly, apologies if this question has been asked and answered before, but I have had a look through related queries and found nothing identical to this. I have had a website for a few years, and have never had any problem uploading any files. But today, when i went to transfer a new html file onto the server...i did so, the file arrived. so i browsed to the file in my browser to check the page as i always do, and the browser wouldn't acknowledge it. after repeated attempts to transfer it, it finally seemed to go over, but only 1/4 of the file size..4KB out of 16KB...so only the top of the page would be viewable in my browser...ive tried transferring on a number of ftp clients and no love... my expertise on this is limited and i cant really think of the next step, the server isnt full, so...im just stumped. any ideas? any and all feedback is great appreciated.

• Collision Detection Problems

  So I'm making a 2D tile based game but I can't quite get the collisions working properly. I've taken the code from the Platformer Sample and implemented it into my game as seen below. One problem I'm having is when I'm on the ground for some strange reason I can't move to the left. Now I'm pretty sure this problem is from the HandleCollisions() method because when I stop running it I can smoothly move around with no problems. • Accidentally deleted the software for MyPassport Essential SE 1TB Hardrive

  Hi, I'm posting for a friend of mine. She bought a WD MyPassport Essential SE 1 TB Hard drive the other day. When she plugged in the USB in her lap top, the driver cannot be recognized by the smart ware software. While she was doing a back up of her files, McAfee was running in the background. Since the backup was taking so long to finish, she decided to pause it. She tried to delete the partially backed up files, but instead, she accidentally deleted the entire file in the folder including the pre-installed software. Now, when she tries to start up the MyPassport, the smart ware doesn't show up anymore. Can someone please give us advice what can she do about this? Thank you.

  I need to change my payee name, I have asked in Google Adsense product forum one of top contributor replied me: "You will have to close the account & apply again with using your real payee name. That's why they specifically state that the payee name needs to match the full name on your bank account." https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/47333?hl=en This makes sense, but got few question because the support page do not have sufficient content to help me. My questions are: What happens when you close your Adsense account? If I apply again, then what will be the process to re-gain my account? I mean should I have to apply for a website again, then Adsense team will review and approve that? Is there any chance to disapprove my account? What about current check? I have two check in my hand. So, is Google will send those check again to me with my new payee name? Anyone experienced this problem? I have asked it on Google Forum but got no answer!

• Linux freezes every few seconds

  We're having an issue where one our Linux boxes (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, running on EC2 with a quadruple-large size, 68GB of RAM and 8 virtual cores with 3.25GHz each) freezes up every few seconds. Typing in an ssh session will freeze, and running strace on one of the Postgresql processes that's running usually shows: 02:37:41.567990 semop(7831581, {{3, -1, 0}}, 1 for a few seconds before it proceeds (it always gets stuck at that semop). OProfile shows that most of the time is spent in the kernel (60%) versus 37% in Postgresql. The result of these halts (which began suddenly a day ago) is that load on the box has gone from 0.7 to 10+, and causes our entire stack to slow done. Any ideas on how to track down what's going on? iostat doesn't show the disks being particularly slow or overloaded, and top shows user cpu % spike from 8% to about 40% whenever these back-ups happen.

• PC always boots into Command Line

  My current Problem is, that when I try to install Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop, neither unity nor gnome are installed. During the installation, I am prompted with the message that only the core is installed, and which additional packages I would like to have installed. When I select ubuntu-desktop, the installer grabs some packages and installs them, but after completing the installation and booting into my Ubuntu, i dont get any GUI, but instead I have the command line interface. When I try to start a new Unity session, i get an error saying that Unity is not installed, so I tried to install it. However this changes nothing, my PC still boots into the Command Line. Are there any solutions to my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I tried to fix it with the following commands: $ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop $ sudo apt-get install gdm $ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start When I try to boot, I get the Ubuntu splash screen, but then the screen mainly shows white squares, with a few black ones at the top.

• Ubuntu 12.04 wireless disabled even though the direct connectin (thru modem) is working fine

  Need help with my newly installed Ubuntu 12.04 system (dual booting along with Win 7), even thoguh I can use internet using the modem and directly plugging it, the wireless network is disabled and it says firmware missing. I tried the following options: 1) checking to see if the wireless is disabled using the hot keys (F2 or Ctrl+F2, Fn + F2 keys), the wireless is working fine in Win 7 but not in Ubuntu. 2) I am able directly plug the laptop with the modem and able connect to Internet using Ubuntu. 3) From the top right hand menu bar, te Wireless networks options say "device not ready (firmware missing) and the Enable Wireless checkbox is checked. 4) tried the command "rfkill list" , it shows all are NOT blocked. 0: phy0: Wireless LAN soft blocked:no Hard blocked: no 1: dell-wifi: Wireless LAN soft blocked:no Hard blocked: no 2: dell-bluetooth: BlueTooth soft blocked:no Hard blocked: no 3: hci0 Bluetooth soft blocked:no Hard blocked: no 5) ifconfig command shows eth0 and lo (lcoalhost) up and running but the wlan0 option is not available to show unless I type ifconfig -a, when it shows wlan0 but its down. 6) The command lspci -vvnn | grep 14e4 shows 04:00.0 network Controller [0280]: Broadcom Corp BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] {rev 01) 08:00.0 Ethernet Controller [0200]: Broadcom Corp Netlink BCM5784M Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [1434:1698] {rev 10) 7) The file /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state shows all options are true (networking enabled, wireless enabled, wwlanenabled and wimaxenabled all options are set to true). 8) 'additional drivers' in your Dash and/or Preferences do not bring up anything at all. 9) output for lshw -C network shows *-network DISABLED description : Wireless interface physical id: 4 logical name: wlan0 serial: 78:e4_00"43:b6:ab capabilities: ethernet physical wireless Configuration: broadcast=yes driver=b43 driverversion=3.2.0.29-generic-pae firmware=N/A link=no multicast= yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bg

• How do you interpret `strace` on an apache process returning `restart_syscall`?

  We restart an apache server every day because RAM usage reaches its limit. Though of value See this serverfault answer, I dont think lowering the MaxClients in the apache configuration is a solution to the unknown root problem. Can you make sense out of the below data? • Can't boot after compiling 3.1 kernel, can only get to terminal

  Long story short: I tried compiling kernel 3.1 on Ubuntu 11.10 at the same time I had an update waiting for a reboot. Computer would boot to a black screen and would hang there. Ended up installing 11.10 on top of old install with a Live CD. Now I had a purple screen on bootup but it would end up booting. Realized Grub was the problem and tried some stuff but nothing worked. I ended up trying to install propriety ATI video drivers and since that nothing has worked, no grub menu(purple screen) and when it boots into the kernel it ends up hanging, I can sometimes get a terminal up with alt-fx. I have tried removing the ati drivers with the ati script, purging my fglrx driver, reconfiguring my xconf.org and following any tutorial I can find about fixing a broken graphics driver, but to no avail. I've gotten to a point were it seems that the ati propriety drivers are correctly loaded but it still has no grub boot menu and won't boot into Ubuntu. I've chased down my logs and this line is from kern.log: unity-greeter[3269]: segfault at 0 ip b7245cbbsp bf9d3900 error 4 in libgio-2.0.so.0.3000.0[b71ad000+142000] That line leads me to believe I don'T have the correct libgio-2 librairy on my system but have no idea how to find out what package has the correct version... My xorg.conf has no errors and seems to imply the fglrxdrm module got loaded correctly. Would be a bit complicated pasting the whole file here but if it would help I'll post it. LAstly, running fglrxinfo give me: Error: Unable yo open display (null) Any help or link to another tutorial would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Repeat the csv header twice without "Append" (PowerShell 1.0)

  I have prepared a PowerShell script to export a list of system users in CSV format. The script can output the users list with Export-csv with single header row (the header row at top). However my requirement is to repeat the header row twice in my file. It is easy to achieve in PowerShell 3.0 with "Append" (e.g. $header | out-file $filepath -Append) Our server envirnoment is running PowerShell 1.0. Hence I cannot do it. Is there any workaround?
