    I have a private void function set for some validation. Should my validation fail, I would like to redirect to another ActionResult and kill the process for the ActionResult that was being used.   • what are the possibilities of displaying items in a listbox.

    Ive been trying to figure out for a long time now how to create an interface that can allows users to input several rows of data and passed those entries into an sql server database all at one shot. i could not get any better ideas so i came up with this.(see picture below.) so what i envisioned is that the user enters values in the textboxes and hits "add to list" button. the values are then populated in the list box below with the heading "exhibits lists" and when add exhibit button is pressed, all values from the list box are passed into the database. Well am left wondering again if it would be possible to tie this values from the texboxes to the list box and if id be able to pass them into the database. if it were possible then id please love to know how to go about it otherwise id be glad if you can recommend a better way for me to handle the situation otherwise id have to resolve to data entry one at a time.:(... Counting on you sublime advise. thanks.     I've got something seemingly very simple not working. I have got a model public class Name: Entity { [StringLength(10), Required] public virtual string Title { get; set; } } public class Customer: Entity { public virtual Name Name { get; set; } } a view model public class CustomerViweModel { public Customer Customer { get; set; } } a view <% using(Html.BeginForm()) { %> <%= Html.LabelFor(m => m.Customer.Name.Title)%> <button type="submit">Submit</button> <% } %> and a controller [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index([Bind(Prefix = "Customer")] Customer customer) { if(ModelState.IsValid) Save else return View(); } No matter what I enter as the title (null, or a string 10 chars), ModelState.IsValid is always true. The Title field in the Customer object has a value, so the data is being passed around, but not being validated? Any clues?

    So I'm looking into writing some custom MVC extensions and the first one I'm attempting to tackle is a FormattedTextBox to handle things such as currency, dates, and times. I have the rendering of it working perfectly, formatting it, working with strong types and everything all golden. However, the problem I'm now running into is cleaning up the formatted stuff when the page posts the data back. Take for example, a currency format. Let's use USD for these examples. When an object has a property as a decimal, the value would be 79.95. Your edit view would be something like: <%= Html.FormattedTextBox(model => Model.Person.HourlyWage, "{0:C}") %> This is all well and good for the GET request, but upon POST, the value is going to be $79.95, which when you assign to that decimal, gets unhappy very quickly and ends up shoving a 0 in there. So my question is, how do I get code working somewhere to work with that value before the MVC Framework goes and starts shoving it back into my ViewModel? I'd much rather this be done server-side than client-side. Thanks!!

CS0103: The name 'item' does not exist in the current context I can't see why it would be doing this as I'm passing item into the partial view?

Great. But while doing some research for speeding up my database access, I ran into this blog post... Improving Entity Framework Performance The post argues that EFs poor performance compared to other frameworks is often due to the EntityConnection object being created each time a new EntityContext object is needed. To test this I manually created a static EntityConnection in Global.asax.cs Application_Start(). I then converted all my context using statements to using( MyObjContext currContext = new MyObjeContext(globalStaticEFConnection) { .... } This seems to have sped things up a bit without any errors so far as far as I can tell. But is this safe? Does using a applicationwide static EntityConnection introduce race conditions? Best regards, Kervin

I am planing to design set of Error code which can help me determine where level occured just by looking at the code. For Example 1000 - Application Level 2000 - DB level 3000 - Network level so if I have error message then I can know right away that this was an application level error and it came from 1st business module.     Ok I have the following, set-up and working great. These lines of code should do a conversion from DAL Entity (Subsonic) to a ViewModel. IList<ProductOptionModel> OptionsRetData = new List<ProductOptionModel>(); foreach (var CurProductOption in this.ProductOptions) { OptionsRetData.Add(CurProductOption.ToDataModel()); } returnData.Options = OptionsRetData.AsEnumerable(); I'd like to convert this to a LINQ single line statment and came up with the following. returnData.Options = this.ProductOptions.Select(o => o.ToDataModel()); and am recieving the following error. Server Error in '/' Application. Sequence contains no matching element So why does the first statment work but not the LINQ and, what steps can I take to resolve it.

I would like to do this without the use of a "software printer" (such as CutePDF, etc.) and stick to reference assemblies if at all possible. I'm using Microsoft Office Interop Assemblies to generate a Word Document which I save to a temporary directory. So its not necessary for this solution to interact directly with Microsoft Office, unless it needs to. Any help or feedback you might have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    In my application I have controller named Snippets both in default area (in application root) and in my area called Manage. I use T4MVC and custom routes, like this: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss() ); And I get this error: Multiple types were found that match the controller named 'snippets'. This can happen if the route that services this request ('{controller}/{action}/{id}/') does not specify namespaces to search for a controller that matches the request. If this is the case, register this route by calling an overload of the 'MapRoute' method that takes a 'namespaces' parameter. The request for 'snippets' has found the following matching controllers: Snippets.Controllers.SnippetsController Snippets.Areas.Manage.Controllers.SnippetsController I know that there are overloads for MapRoute that take namespaces argument, but there are no such overloads with T4MVC support. May be I'm missing something? The possible syntax can be: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss(), new string[] {"Snippets.Controllers"} ); or, it seems quite good to me to have namespace as T4MVC property: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss(), new string[] {MVC.Snippets.Namespace} ); Thanks in advance!
