  • Passing binary blob through an Android content provider

    I have a content provider that is custom to my set of Android applications, and one of the things it needs to expose is a small (20-30k) byte array. The uri for these blobs looks like content://my.authority/blob/# where # is the row number; the resulting cursor has the standard _id column and a data column. I'm using a MatrixCursor in the provider's query method: byte[] byteData = getMyByteData(); MatrixCursor mc = new MatrixCursor(COLUMNS); mc.addRow(new Object[] { id, byteData }); Later, in the application consuming the data, I do Cursor c = managedQuery(uri, null, null, null, null); c.moveToFirst(); byte[] data = c.getBlob(c.getColumnIndexOrThrow("data")); However, data does not contain the contents of my original byte array; rather, it contains something like "[B@435cc518", which looks more like the address of the array than the contents. I tried wrapping the byte array in an implementation of java.sql.Blob, figuring that it might be looking for that since the content provider subsystem was written to be easy to use with SQLite, but it didn't help. Has anyone gotten this to work? If the data was in the file system, there are methods in ContentProvider that I could use to provide a marshalled InputStream to the client, but the data I'm trying to send back lives as a resource in the content provider's APK.

  • 'ErrorMessageResourceType' property specified was not found. on XmlSerialise

    In my ASP.Net MVC app I have a Model layer which uses localised validation annotations on business objects. The code looks like this: [XmlRoot("Item")] public class ItemBo : BusinessObjectBase { [Required(ErrorMessageResourceName = "RequiredField", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(StringResource))] [HelpPrompt("ItemNumber")] public long ItemNumber { get; set; } This works well. When I want to serialise the object to xml I get the error: "'ErrorMessageResourceType' property specified was not found" (although it is lost beneath other errors, it is the innerexception I am trying to work on. The problem therefore is the use of the DataAnnotations attributes. The relevant resource files are in another assembly and are marked as 'public' and as I said everything works well until I get to serialisation. I have references to the relevant DataAnnotations class etc in my nunit tests and target class. By the way, the HelpPrompt is another data annotation I have defined elsewhere and is not causing the problem. Furthermore if I change the Required attribute to the standard format as follows, the serialisation works ok. [Required(ErrorMessage="Error")] Can anyone help me?

I wanted to remain get since I want to limit to columns that was set on $fields.   • MVVM Binding in Silverlight3 ItemsControl to get the parent controls DataContext

    I have the following ItemsControl in Silverlight 3. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding ValueCollectionList}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button x:Name="MyBtn" Height="40" Content="{Binding Name}" Tag="{Binding Value}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot, Path=ButtonCommand}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=MyBtn, Path=Tag}"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> The Problem is that I have the ItemsControl bound to the Collection in my ViewModel, but I need the button to trigger a command on the ViewModel which is of course not Available in the DataContext of the button since it only contains the collection. I can make the command fire by setting my ViewModel as a Resource and then binding to it as a StaticResource, but I want to know why the element to element binding won't work in this scenario. I would prefer not to use the StaticResource binding because that requires the default constructor on the ViewModel and so I can't inject my data easily.

  • Keyboard Animation Issues When Calling becomeFirstResponder within a Modal View Controller

    I've been having some issues with calling -becomeFirstResponder on a UITextField contained with a view controller that is presented modally. I call this method in the modal view controller's -viewDidLoad method so that the keyboard is immediately displayed. What I expected is for both the keyboard and the modal view controller to animate from up the bottom of the screen at the same time. However, what I'm observing is the following: There is a ~0.2 second UI lag between clicking the button that calls the -presentModalViewController:animated: method on the parent view controller and when the child view controller begins to animate modally. The keyboard is immediately presented with absolutely no animation about half-way through the modal view controller's animation. Once the modal view controller's animation is complete, everything else seems to operate smoothly. Dismissing the modal view controller results in it being smoothly animated off screen (along with the keyboard, coincidentally). It's as if the keyboard's animation and the modal view controller's animation are both competing for some lower-level Core Animation resource at the same time, but I don't see why this should be happening. What further seems to corroborate this hunch is if I don't ask the UITextField to become the first responder (i.e., if I don't ask the keyboard to present itself), then there is absolutely no UI lag, and the modal view controller animates instantly. Interestingly, if I do something like [self.textField performSelector:@selector(becomeFirstResponder) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.0001]; then the animation of the keyboard happens nearly at the same time as the modal view controller's animation -- it's extremely difficult to tell that they aren't both being animated at the exact same time. Furthermore, there's no more UI lag. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

  • Focussing on Style Sheets and Cross Browser Compatibility.

    Hello everyone, Let me begin this topic by explaining my background experience with web design. I have always been more of a back end programmer, with PHP and SQL and things. However I do have a shallow background with HTML and CSS. The problem is, I don't know it all. What I do know is, when it comes to designing (not back end dirty work) I understand basic CSS properties and I also understand HTML and I can usually throw together a sloppy web page with the two and a couple bazillion DIV tags. Anyways.. The problem I always have encountered is that when I design a website in a browser such as IE7 (and then it looks perfect on IE7), and then look at it on IE8 or IE6 or Mozilla (etc.) it gets all spacey and ugly and looks totally different than the way it should look on IE7. Question one: Basically, what I am asking everyone is what route should I take to learn how to properly build the website? Build as in put it togehter with CSS standards and HTML standards that will make my site look the same on every brwoser. (Not only learning standards but where can I learn to properly write my code?) Where is a strong free resource I can use to learn how to these things? Question two: How do I properly code my website? Do I use all external style sheets to make dynamic page design simplistic or do I hard code some things into the DIV tags on each page? What is proper? Oh, and if anyone has any tutorials on how to properly design a complete layout feel free to throw it in a response somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions, and hopefully you will understand what I am trying to get out to everyone.   • WPF - Dynamic tooltip

    I have a class ToolTipProvider which has a method string GetToolTip(UIElement element) which will return a specific tooltip for the UIElement specified, based on various factors including properties of the UIElement itself and also looking up into documentation which can be changed dynamically. It will also probably run in a thread so when the form first fires up the tooltips will be something like the visual studio 'Document cache is still being constructed', then populated in the background. I want to allow this to be used in any wpf form with the minimum effort for the developer. Essentially I want to insert an ObjectDataProvider resource into the Window.Resources to wrap my ToolTipProvider object, then I think I need to create a tooltip (called e.g. MyToolTipProvider) in the resources which references that ObjectDataProvider, then on any element which requires this tooltip functionality it would just be a case of ToolTip="{StaticResource MyToolTipProvider}" however I can't work out a) how to bind the actual elemnt itself to the MethodParameters of the objectdataprovider, or b) how to force it to call the method each time the tooltip is opened. Any ideas/pointers on the general pattern I need? Not looking for complete solution, just any ideas from those more experienced

I finished that pending windows update. but no help. I googed to find that should re-install .net framework 1.1/2.1, i tried but nothing good happend, this error always here. I even spent 4 hrs to re-install vs2010, but still cannot solve this. If i need to re-install WIN7 for this , i will be crazy at all... How this happened? and how to overcome it?   • Threading 101: What is a Dispatcher?

    Once upon a time, I remembered this stuff by heart. Over time, my understanding has diluted and I mean to refresh it. As I recall, any so called single threaded application has two threads: a) the primary thread that has a pointer to the main or DllMain entry points; and b) For applications that have some UI, a UI thread, a.k.a the secondary thread, on which the WndProc runs, i.e. the thread that executes the WndProc that recieves messages that Windows posts to it. In short, the thread that executes the Windows message loop. For UI apps, the primary thread is in a blocking state waiting for messages from Windows. When it recieves them, it queues them up and dispatches them to the message loop (WndProc) and the UI thread gets kick started. As per my understanding, the primary thread, which is in a blocking state, is this: C++ while(getmessage(/* args &msg, etc. */)) { translatemessage(&msg, 0, 0); dispatchmessage(&msg, 0, 0); } C# or VB.NET WinForms apps: Application.Run( new System.Windows.Forms() ); Is this what they call the Dispatcher? My questions are: a) Is my above understanding correct? b) What in the name of hell is the Dispatcher? c) Point me to a resource where I can get a better understanding of threads from a Windows/Win32 perspective and then tie it up with high level languages like C#. Petzold is sparing in his discussion on the subject in his epic work. Although I believe I have it somewhat right, a confirmation will be relieving.

  • What GUI tool can I use for building applications that interact with multiple APIs?

    My company uses a lot of different web services on daily bases. I find that I repeat same steps over and over again on daily bases. For example, when I start a new project, I perform the following actions: Create a new client & project in Liquid Planner. Create a new client Freshbooks Create a project in Github or Codebasehq Developers to Codebasehq or Github who are going to be working on this project Create tasks in Ticketing system on Codebasehq and tasks in Liquid Planner This is just when starting new projects. When I have to track tasks, it gets even trickier because I have to monitor tasks in 2 different systems. So my question is, is there a tool that I can use to create a web service that will automate some of these interactions? Ideally, it would be something that would allow me to graphically work with the web service API and produce an executable that I can run on a server. I don't want to build it from scratch. I know, I can do it with Python or RoR, but I don't want to get that low level. I would like to add my sources and pass data around from one service to another. What could I use? Any suggestions?

  • WPF ToolTip Style with dynamic LayoutTransform

    I have an app that scales it's UI and I want to scale the ToolTips with it. I have tried doing this: <Style TargetType="{x:Type ToolTip}"> <Setter Property="LayoutTransform" Value="{DynamicResource scaleTransf}"/> ... </Style> ...where scaleTransf is a resource that I change via code: Application.Current.Resources["scaleTransf"] = new ScaleTransform(...); Most of the ToolTips do get scaled in size but some of them that are created by C# code don't get scaled. I've checked and it seems that I don't set their Style or LayoutTransform by code, so I don't really understand what is going wrong... Moreover, I have the impression that the above XAML code worked fine a few days ago. :( Is there sth I can do to make it work all the time without setting the LayoutTransform in code-behind? EDIT : The ToolTips that don't change scale are the ones that have become visible before.   • Using a dynamic <script> (a <script> appended to the DOM by JavaScript) to load and initialize Click

    I'm creating an HTML/JavaScript widget to be used on third-party sites. This widget is generated by a <script> that our customers will insert on their page. The <script> creates an <iframe> in the customer's domain, and then creates and inserts all of that <iframe>'s content using JavaScript. It's important that this <iframe> contain Clicky's tracking code to monitor clicks on outbound links. Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck getting Clicky to work when I append the requisite <script> elements to the <iframe> using JavaScript. I first tried simply appending the Clicky tracking code to the <iframe> after appending some test outbound links, hoping that Clicky could attach to those automatically as it does on a static page. That didn't seem to work, so my next inclination was to use the "advanced_disable" custom option and use clicky.log() on the links I want to track. Here's a link to a test page that's along those lines: http://onespot.wsj.com/static/clicky_iframe_test.html When clicking a link on that test page, the action is not logged in Clicky, and a JavaScript error appears: clicky is not defined This ("clicky") appears to be defined in http://static.getclicky.com/js, which I confirmed through the Firebug console is indeed loading before I click a test outbound link. Has anyone successfully loaded Clicky in this way? If so, could you provide some sample code, a link to a working implementation, or some feedback on what's wrong with my code?     Hi there, I am using checkstyle plugin in maven 2. I now want to switch my config file, from the default one to a) an online file, or b) a local file. I tried the following two things, which both didnt work. Any suggestions?   • Custom Buttons in Android: How to get border/edge/frame when I read the background from xml?

    Hi, Using Android Shapes in xml I have defined a gradient which I use as the background for a button. This all works nice, but there's no edge surrounding the button. I would like it to look similar to the normal Android button but I need more flexibility to control the color and look. The shape is defined as follows: I would expect the border to be set in the xml. Why doesn't "stroke" fix it? Stroke doesn't seem to do anything. I checked the Android Developer spec, but couldn't find the answer there: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/drawable-resource.html I have also looked through all the properties of the Android Button, but as expected there's no such parameter, probably since it's built into the normal Android button. Btw, I checked ImageButton properties too. Can someone please help? I know there's the alternative to make an image with proper edges and use an ImageButton, but there really should be a way to fix this programmatically. Thanks! Anna

  • How to encrypt Amazon CloudFront signature for private content access using canned policy

    Has anyone using .net actually worked out how to successfully sign a signature to use with CloudFront private content? After a couple of days of attempts all I can get is Access Denied. I have been working with variations of the following code and also tried using OpenSSL.Net and AWSSDK but that does not have a sign method for RSA-SHA1 yet. The signature (data) looks like this {"Statement":[{"Resource":"http://xxxx.cloudfront.net/xxxx.jpg","Condition":?{"DateLessThan":?{"AWS:EpochTime":1266922799}}}]} This method attempts to sign the signature for use in the canned url. So of the variations have included chanding the padding used in the has and also reversing the byte[] before signing as apprently OpenSSL do it this way. public string Sign(string data) { using (SHA1Managed SHA1 = new SHA1Managed()) { RSACryptoServiceProvider provider = new RSACryptoServiceProvider(); RSACryptoServiceProvider.UseMachineKeyStore = false; // Amazon PEM converted to XML using OpenSslKey provider.FromXmlString("<RSAKeyValue><Modulus>....."); byte[] plainbytes = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(data); byte[] hash = SHA1.ComputeHash(plainbytes); //Array.Reverse(sig); // I have see some examples that reverse the hash byte[] sig = provider.SignHash(hash, "SHA1"); return Convert.ToBase64String(sig); } } Its useful to note that I have verified the content is setup correctly in S3 and CloudFront by generating a CloudFront canned policy url using my CloudBerry Explorer.   • Implementing a 2 Legged OAuth Provider

    I'm trying to find my way around the OAuth spec, its requirements and any implementations I can find and, so far, it really seems like more trouble than its worth because I'm having trouble finding a single resource that pulls it all together. Or maybe it's just that I'm looking for something more specialized than most tutorials. I have a set of existing APIs--some in Java, some in PHP--that I now need to secure and, for a number of reasons, OAuth seems like the right way to go. Unfortunately, my inability to track down the right resources to help me get a provider up and running is challenging that theory. Since most of this will be system-to-system API usage, I'll need to implement a 2-legged provider. With that in mind... Does anyone know of any good tutorials for implementing a 2-legged OAuth provider with PHP? Given that I have securable APIs in 2 languages, do I need to implement a provider in both or is there a way to create the provider as a "front controller" that I can funnel all requests through? When securing PHP services, for example, do I have to secure each API individually by including the requisite provider resources on each? Thanks for your help.

  • Add Image to Base64 Encoded ImageStream in Resources (resx)

    I'm working on an older project, updating it. Part of the program has a toolstrip with many buttons on it, each with an image. I found that the images are stored in a Base64 encoded imagestream in the resx for the form and accessed as such: System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager resources = new System.ComponentModel.ComponentResourceManager(typeof(Form1)); ... this.imageList1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ImageList(this.components); ... this.toolStrip1.ImageList = this.imageList1; ... this.imageList1.ImageStream = ((System.Windows.Forms.ImageListStreamer)(resources.GetObject("imageList1.ImageStream"))); ... this.toolStripButton1.ImageIndex = 0; //There are 41 images, so this can be between 0 and 40 I need to add another button with a new image. How can I add an image to this stream? I cannot use the designer, as it crashes as soon as I load the form (I believe because it uses a custom component with unsafe code). I could always just add a new image resource separate from the stream, but that would make that one button different and thus it would create problems with consistency, causing upkeep problems later. So I'm wondering if there is any way for me to edit the imagestream. I can access the raw base64 string, but I have no idea where to go from here.

  • HttpServletRequest#login() not working in Java.

    Hello, j_security_check just doesn't seem enough for me to perform login process. So, instead of submitting the form to j_security_check i created my own servlet and in that i am programmatically trying to do login. This works but i am not able to redirect to my restricted resource. Can anybody tell me what can be the problem?   • Why does text from Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream() start with three junk characters?

    I have a SQL file added to my VS.NET 2008 project as an embedded resource. Whenever I use the following code to read the file's content, the string returned always starts with three junk characters and then the text I expect. I assume this has something to do with the Encoding.Default I am using, but that is just a guess. Why does this text keep showing up?   • What is the target color profile in Image.FromFile?

    I am curious what the useEmbeddedColorManagement parameter in System.Drawing.Image.FromFile actually does. This parameter directory corresponds to a GDI+ parameter in the same method of the same class. So debugging .NET source does not lead anywhere. If my understanding of color profiles is correct, a color profile is basically a mapping which describes how particular RGB triples (or CMYK or something else) map into the so called Profile Connection Space (CIELAB or CIEXYZ). Now, if I open an image with embedded color in .NET setting useEmbeddedColorManagement to true, my experience is I get an image whose RGB values are not exactly the same as the original values in the file, i.e. is transformed. Since the original image was an RGB and the new is also an RGB, there must have been a transformation from the embedded color profile to a Profile Connection Space and the back to RGB. The thing which I don’t understand is what is the target color system? Is it some default Windows color profile? Is the current monitor profile? Is it sRGB?
