  • Dilemma of Sending a Byte Array from JavaScript to COM.

    Hello there, I'm having a bit of a problem because neither Javascript nor ActiveX (written in C++) are behaving like good little children. All I'm asking them to do is for Javascript to send a byte array and for the ActiveX to receive the byte array correctly in order to do more computation. This is how I declared my byte array in JS, and I verified it inside JS: var arr = new Array(0x00, 0xA4, 0x04, 0x00, 0x10,0xA0, 0x00, 00, 00, 0x18, 0x30, 0x03, 0x01, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00, 00); Javascript sends this array as an argument to an ActiveX method. Here is the tricky part; I want the ActiveX method to receive the byte array as a SAFEARRAY or VARIANT, but I can't get it to work for the life of me. I tried debugging and seeing the contents received inside the ActiveX as both SAFEARRAY or VARIANT, but to no avail. Here is the IDL segment: [id(7), helpstring("NEW Sends APDU to Card and Reads the Response")] HRESULT NewSendAPDU( [in] VARIANT pAPDU, [out, retval]VARIANT* pAPDUResponse); Any help is greatly appreciated.   • FireLog: proper installation...

    I have installed the firewiresdk26 on my dev mac... and in the Tools/ directory is FireLog. I have run the FireLog 2.0.0.pkg installer on my dev mac, but the payload it deploys is installed in my /System/Library tree, as opposed to my /Developer/SDKs tree. so when I try to include the header iokit/firewire/FireLog.h it does not get found. am I missing something? or doing something wrong? or is this an error in the installer (either FW26 or FireLog installers?) I realize that the FireLog installer is intended to be run on the machine to be debugged remotely and thus it makes sense that the framework is placed in the /System/Library path, however none of the installers gets it into my developer path... I guess I just have to move it over there by hand, but before I do that I wanted to see if I'm just overlooking something silly and need to read the docs with more concentration or something... anyone run into this before?     Let's say we have a memory-intensive class like an Image, with chainable methods like Resize() and ConvertTo(). If this class is immutable, won't it take a huge amount of memory when I start doing things like i.Resize(500, 800).Rotate(90).ConvertTo(Gif), compared to a mutable one which modifies itself? How to handle a situation like this in a functional language?

    Windows 7, C++, VS2008 I have a COM DLL that needs to be registered using "runas administrator" (it is a legacy app that writes to the registry) The DLL is used by a reports app which instantiates it using CoCreateInstance. This failed unless I also ran the reports app as administrator; until I changed the linker setting from /MANIFESTUAC to /MANIFESTUAC:NO Can anyone tell me why this works? Does it mean that I can write apps that bypass the UAC using this setting?

    How do you make VS 2008 automatically install SQL Server CE 3.5 when debugging (F5) a CF app on a windows Mobile 5.0 device? VS used to do this automatically, but now it stopped and I don't know why. I have changed the structure of my solution and the projects, but it is still using SQL Server CE 3.5. It used to also install the Query Analyzer as well which was useful. I frequently uninstall all the programs on the device or do hard reboots so installing this manually is what I am trying to avoid.

But I found that if client sends data to server using TCP then internally TCP sends acknowledgement to the client once the data is received by the server.   • Able to ping but cannot browse after several hours running of my python program

    It's a GUI program I wrote in python checking website/server status running on my XP SP3, multi threads are used to check different site/server. After several hours running, the program starts to get urlopen error timed out all the time, and this always happens right after a POST request from a server(not a certain one, might be A or B or C), and it's also not the first POST request causing the problem, normally after several hours running and it happens to make a POST request at an unknown moment, all you get from then on is urlopen error timed out. I'm still able to ping but cannot browse any site, once the program closed everything's fine. It's definitely the program causing this problem, well I just don't know how to debug/check what the problem is, also don't know if it's from OS side or my program wasting too many resources/connections(are you still able to ping when too many connections used?), would anybody please help me out?

  • Drop target - where do I register the COleDropTarget variable if the view class doesn't have OnCreat

    The MSDN site says: From your view class's function that handles the WM_CREATE message (typically OnCreate), call the new member variable's Register member function. Revoke will be called automatically for you when your view is destroyed. But I don't have an OnCreate function in the ChildView class. I do have OnCreate in the CMainFrame class. Can I register it there? What are the ramifications? PLEASE NOTE: I have it working for dropping files but I want to drop the text as a file, not at a cursor location like a text cut and paste, but rather I want the application to make a buffer to hold it, and I will treat it like a file.   • Using a .txt file Resource in VB

    Right now i have a line of code, in vb, that calls a text file, like this: Dim fileReader As String fileReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("data5.txt") data5.txt is a resource in my application, however the application doesn't run because it can't find data5.txt. I'm pretty sure there is another code for finding a .txt file in the resource that i'm overlooking, but i can't seem to figure it out. So does anyone know of a simple fix for this? or maybe another whole new line of code? Thanks in advance!

  • TcpListener.Start() does not open the port

    Hello, I have a class that inherits from the TcpListener, this class Shadows the Start method just to call the base Start() and the base BeginAcceptTcpClient(). From time to time the method is called but the port is not opened (netstat does not show the port open). The class looks like this Public Class ExtendedTcpListener Inherits System.Net.Sockets.TcpListener Public Shadows Sub Start() SyncLock (m_stopLock) MyBase.Start() MyBase.BeginAcceptTcpClient(AddressOf Me.CompleteAcceptTcpClient, Me) My.Application.Log.WriteEntry("Extended Tcp Listener started ...", TraceEventType.Verbose) End SyncLock End Sub Any idea on what's happening or how to debug the issue? As the Start() is called without exception I expected to find the port always opened (the log is always written). Extra information: when the Start method works fine it works each time until app is restarted. When the Start method does not work it won't work again until the app is restarted.

  • Why does MSBuild fail from the command line where VS2008 succeeds?

    I have an ASP.NET solution that builds just fine from within VS2008. However , it fails when i do this : MSBUILD.exe c:\path-to-sln It fails with a CS0006 error ("Metadata file 'dll_name' could not be found"). It also fails when I try with a .csproj of a project within the solution. What is VS2008 doing that MSBuild is missing ? It is my understanding that VS knows about inter assembly dependencies that MSBuild cant. Is there any way I can inform MSBuild of these? (I need MSBuild to work from the command line because I am calling it from an MSBuild-Task from within CruiseControl.Net.) Thanks in Advance. :3) (I have looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/280559/how-to-get-cmd-line-build-command-for-vs-solution , but still dont get it)

    Ok, I see that people have asked this question before, but I'm seeing some conflicting statements. Can I, or can I not, connect directly to my SQL Azure database from SSMSE 2008? I see posts from before November that the SSMS 2008 RC would be able to connect directly - so I don't understand why the newest SSMSE cannot connect. Is it just a problem with the Express version of SSMS? Where can I find the "non-Express" version, if there is one? I can connect to the database via the cancel and connect method - however, you don't get object explorer that way. I see that there are add-ons for VS.Net to allow you to explore the database but I wanted to do it with the base apps if possible. Thanks

Among them are listed forwarding enums and strongly typed enums but they are listed as "partial". The main text of the article says that this means they are either incomplete or implemented in some non-standard way. So I've got VS2010RC and am playing around with the C++0x features. I can't figure these ones out and can't find any documentation on these two features.     I'm looking for a programmatic interface to the Solaris ifconfig(1M) command. Apparently Linux has the getifaddrs(3) command, but as far as I can tell this has not been ported to Solaris. Short of attempting to use the code at the link above, is there any way to determine ifconfig(1M)-type data (network interface presence, state, etc.) without forking the system command and parsing the output?

  • Should I be relying on WebTests for data validation?

    I have a suite of web tests created for a web service. I use it for testing a particular input method that updates a SQL Database. The web service doesn't have a way to retrieve the data, that's not its purpose, only to update it. I have a validator that validates the response XML that the web service generates for each request. All that works fine. It was suggested by a teammate that I add data validation so that I check the database to see the data after the initial response validator runs and compare it with what was in the input request. We have a number of services and libraries that are separate from the web service I'm testing that I can use to get the data and compare it. The problem is that when I run the web test the data validation always fails even when the request succeeds. I've tried putting the thread to sleep between the response validation and the data validation but to no avail; It always gets the data from before the response validation. I can set a break point and visually see that the data has been updated in the DB, funny thing is when I step through it in debug with the breakpoint it does validate successfully. Before I get too much more into this issue I have to ask; Is this the purpose of web tests? Should I be able to validate data through service calls in this manner or am I asking too much of a web test and the response validation is as far as I should go?

    Hi all, I need help on web.config transformation as I'm trying to do something not documented. My web.config has an empty connectionStrings element. In debug, I'd like the transformation tool to add a configSource="file.local" to the connectionStrings element. But in release, I'd like it to add a connectionString element. So, to summarize, I have <connectionStings> </connectionStings> And I need to transform it to <connectionStings configSource="file.local"> </connectionStings> And to: <connectionStings> <clear/> <add name="Abc" connectionSting="bla bla bla" provider="xxx" /> </connectionStings> Anybody has done this yet?
