  • how to change link url on the web browser's status bar.

    I already read many article about this issue in here, SO. I just want to discuss how to do it. NOT the moral issue. -- for example. at the google search webpage. before I click the link, the link does not indicate the google url. but After I click the link with shift-key, the url on the status bar is changed. this mean the google webpage indicate 'Fake URL'. the google compressed script is too difficult to read and analyze. # edited The second url should work on ie8 even if I click with ctrl key.

  • Improving the efficiency of Kinect for Windows DTWGestureRecognition Application

    Currently I am using the DTWGestureRecognition open source tool for Kinect SDK v1.5. I have recorded a few gestures and use them to navigate through Windows 7. I also have implemented voice control for simple things such as opening PowerPoint, Chrome, etc. My main issue is that the application uses quite a bit of my CPU power which causes it to become slow. During gestures and voice commands, the CPU usage sometimes spikes to 80-90%, which causes the application to be unresponsive for a few seconds. I am running it on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine with an i5 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I was wondering if anyone with any experience using this tool or Kinect in general has made it more efficient and less performance hogging. Right now I removed sections which display the RGB video and the Depth video but even doing that did not make a big impact. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • Existing Calendar Software for Web Service?

    I'd like to offer users of my web platform calendars, and also offer group calendar and public calendar features. I know of Google Calendar API, of course, but that would require all my users to have Google accounts (although, I guess the question is who does not these days). I am wondering if there are any other alternatives? I can write my own, but this has gotten to have been done thousands of times already! I am looking not so much at the front end; we'd probably going to re-skin the UI anyways. But I want a solution that has good backend support for storing events and recurring events, and maintaining multiple calendars. Ideally, the engine would also support things like shared event between different calendars, syncing with other calendars, etc. Sad thing is that this does seem like Google Calendar would cover it, but asking all the users to have to have google accounts may not be realistic. Especially since we'd also want to create group calendars, and I am not sure under who's google account that'd be, and if that'd even be covered under their terms of use. Your thoughts? Thanks.

    Dear all,Now i have this question in my java program,I think it should be classified as URL problem,but not 100% sure.If you think I am wrong,feel free to recategorize this problem,thanks. I would state my problem as simply as possible. I did a search on the famouse Chinese search engine baidu.com for a Chinese key word "???" (Obama in English),and the way I do that is to pass a URL (in a Java Program)to the browser like: http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=??? and it works perfectly just like I input the "???”keyword in the text field on baidu.com. However,now my advisor wants another thing.Since he can not read the Chinese webpages,but he wants to make sure the webpages I got from Baidu.com is related to "Obama",he asked me to google translate it back,i.e,using google translate and translate the Chinese webpage to English one. This sounds straightforward.However,I met my problem here. If I simply pass the URL "http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=???" into Google Translate and tick "Chinese to English" translating option,the result looks awful.(I don't know the clue here,maybe related to Chinese character encoding). Alternatively,if now my browser opens ""http://news.baidu.com/ns?word=???" webpage,but I click on the "????" button (that simply means "search"),you will notice the URL will get changed,now if I pass this URL into the Google translate and do the same thing,the result works much better. I hope I am not making this problem sound too complicated,and I appologize for some Chinese words invovled,but I really need your guys' help here.Becasue I did all this in a Java program,I couldn't figure out how to realize that "????"(pressing search button) step then get the new URL.If I could get that new URL,things are easy,I could just call Google translate in my Java code,and pops out the new window to show my advisor.     I have a PHP file using CURL that accepts a Google Doc URL as a parameter, then returns the plain text of the Google Doc. It worked well until recently when apparently a redirect was added so that the http:// address redirects to the equivalent https:// address, as in this example: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dc7gj86r_20dn2csqg3 So I changed my code to access the https:// address, but it just returns blank.
