    I want to allow the user to edit by data by row, so only need content updated by row. I managed to achieve this by using a Repeater with a UpdatePanel in the ItemTemplate.     Hello! Couple of questions regarding Twill and Mechanize: 1) Is Twill still relevant as a web-automation tool? If yes, then why is not currently maintained? If no, has Mechanize matured further to support Twill-style simple scripting? Or is there another package that has stepped up to fill the gap? 2) I was able to very quickly setup a couple of test suites in python using Twill, but I'm a little confused on how to access the information that Twill spits out in my python program. That is, I can do showforms() and see the form values neatly listed and I can use fv to update the form values and submit. But how do I access one of those form values as a python var?     Hi people. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to do this one. Here's the scenario. My e-commerce site has a blog with a lot of content, promoting the products I sell, reviewing them etc. 99% of the posts on the blog link back to the products they are talking about. I'm going to be changing the URL where my ecommerce system is located. Therefore my blog is going to end up sending people to a lot of 404 pages. The idea I've had is to be able inclue a JS file which will on load, scan the document for existing links then, if found, swap them out with ones which are now correct. I hope this make sense.     Hi all: I've been trying to do as the client requested : redirect to campaign page then to destination page once a customer clicks on the top banner in swf format. You can check what's been done at :http://ausdcf.org If you are using Firefox, Chrome or Safari, I suspect you can reach the destination page. However, if you are using IE or Opera, I doubt it. The simplest solution to this I can think of would be to use a tool to minify all static content so that (after encryption) only a small number of result sizes exist so as to minimize the information available to an eavesdropper. Are there any tools for doing this?

    I am working on a GXT/GWT project. I have two tabs in which content is set based on selections from a drop down menu. The content in one tab is an embedded video (Google Video or youtube video) The problem is that when switching tabs, the video reloads and starts from the beginning again. What I would like is to be able to switch tabs and have the video continue to play or pause when the focus switches to another tab. Any ideas, as always, are greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ben

  • Add options to select box without Internet Explorer closing the box?

    Hi, I'm trying to build a web page with a number of drop-down select boxes that load their options asynchronously when the box is first opened. This works very well under Firefox, but not under Internet Explorer. Below is a small example of what I'm trying to achieve. Basically, there is a select box (with the id "selectBox"), which contains just one option ("Any"). So that's exactly what Firefox does, which is great. However, in Internet Explorer, as soon as the new option is added in "4" the browser closes the select box. The select box does contain the correct options, but the box is closed, requiring the user to click to re-open it. So, does anyone have any suggestions for how I can load the select control's options asynchronously without IE closing the drop-down box? I know that I can load the list before the box is even clicked, but the real form I'm developing contains many such select boxes, which are all interrelated, so it will be much better for both the client and server if I can load each set of options only when needed. Also, if the results are loaded synchronously, before the select box's onmousedown handler completes, then IE will show the full list as expected - however, synchronous loading is a bad idea here, since it will completely "lock" the browser while the network requests are taking place. Finally, I've also tried using IE's click() method to open the select box once the new options have been added, but that does not re-open the select box. Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated!! :) Thanks! Paul.

  • measure rendered html in javascript without affecting the measurement

    I am doing pagination in javascript. This is typographic pagination, not chopping up database results. For the most part it works, but I have run into a heisenberg issue where I cannot quite measure text without affecting it. I am not trying to measure text before it is rendered. I want the actual position it shows up at on screen, so I can paginate to where it is naturally wrapped. I am measuring the vertical position of characters, not the horizontal width of strings. The way I do this is similar to this answer in that I am applying a style to a block of text, then measuring the position of the newly created span. If the span does not reach the end of the page, I clear it and make a new span in a linear search. The problem is that the anti-aliased sub-pixel text layout is different when the span is applied. In rare cases, this causes the text to wrap differently when I measure it. I have only seen this when wrapping at a hyphen, and I assume it would not happen when wrapping at white space. As a concrete example, "prepared-he" is the string I am having trouble with. When I measure up to "prepare" it appears, as expected, to be within the current page. When I measure "prepared" the whole phrase wraps down to the next line, moving it to the next page, so it looks like the "d" is the character to break at. I break the text between "prepare" and "d-he" and that is wrong. Trying to evaluate individual characters opens a whole can of worms I would rather avoid. The wrapping changes because, with the new span, the line is 1 pixel wider. A solution to my problem could either be a better way to measure text using javascript, or a way to wrap text in a new element without affecting layout. I have tried setting margin-right:-1px for the class of the span being created to wrap the text. This had no noticeable effect. I am doing this in a UIWebView on the iPhone. There are some measurement related calls that are available in normal WebKit that are not available here. For example, Range does not have getBoundingClientRect or support setting an offset other than 0 in setStart or setEnd. Thank you
