• Thinking Sphinx with Rails - Delta indexing seems to work fine for one model but not for the other

  I have 2 models User and Discussion. I have defined the indices for the models as below: For the User model: define_index do indexes email indexes first_name indexes last_name, :sortable => true indexes groups(:name), :as => :group_names has "IF(email_confirmed = true and status = 'approved', true, false)", :as => :approved_user, :type => :boolean has "IF(email_confirmed = true and (status = 'approved' or status='blocked'), true, false)", :as => :approved_or_blocked_user, :type => :boolean has points, :type => :integer has created_at, :type => :datetime has user(:id) set_property :delta => true end For the Discussion model: define_index do indexes title indexes description indexes category(:title), :as => :category_title indexes tags(:title), :as => :tag_title has "IF(publish_to_blog = true AND sticky = false, true, false)", :as => :publish_to_main, :type => :boolean has created_at has updated_at, :type => :datetime has recent_activity_at, :type => :datetime has views_count, :type => :integer has featured has publish_to_blog has sticky set_property :delta => true end I have added a delta column to both tables as per the documentation. My problem is that delta indexing works only for the Discussion model and not for the User model. For ex: When I update the 'title' of a discussion, I can see the thinking sphinx is rotating the indices etc. (as is evident from the logs). But when I update the 'first_name' or the 'last_name' of a user, nothing happens. The User model also has a has_many :through association through a model called GroupsUser. I have setup a after_save on the GroupsUser as follows: def set_user_delta_flag user.delta = true user.save end Even this doesn't seem to trigger delta indexing on the User model. A similar setup for the Discussion model works perfectly! Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

• Re-tweets and replies with JTwitter

  I have not used Twitter enough to become familiar with its terminology or the way it works, so please help me in understanding the problem I have at hand. I am getting last 20 status updates posted by some Twitter user via RSS feed, the feed XML is parsed and the statuses are displayed in a ListView. Which means that I have the original tweet in a String variable(row of ListView). When I click a ListView item, I get the option of "Re-tweeting" and "post reply". As, I understand it, when re-tweeting I will have to just update my *status* as: RT @orig-poster <original tweet> and when posting a reply I will have to just update my status as: @orig-poster <my tweet> I skimmed through the JavaDocs of the Jwitter library(Twitter class) and found a setStatus(String) method. I dont think I will have to make use of retweet() or reply() functions of the Twitter class in JTwitter library. Is my understanding correct? Please correct me if I am wrong here or missing anything. • Another IE Issue with AJAX

If entry has update, then update the data, if entry is new added, insert to the table then give a new assigned unique ID. However, I can only use SQL with simple select or update statement then it may too hard for me to write such code, then I hope someone with expertise can give direction, no details needed on the different of SQL variant, a standard sql code as sample is enough.   Hi, I am currently building a dynamic url tab system that user can say what urls they want to be displayed on a tabpage control. In the database i have the following columns. userID, int URLName var Enabled bit I am pulling the data back ok but what i am trying do is populate a checkbox list with the urlname and its status on a user options page so they can say what tabs they want displayed. I have wrote the following methods to get the urls and create the checkboxes however i keep getting the following error. ex = {"InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.\r\nParameter name: index"} It reads the first row ok but when it hits the 2nd row that is being returned i get that error. Has anyone got any ideas? • Handling file uploads with JavaScript and Google Gears, is there a better solution?

  So - I've been using this method of file uploading for a bit, but it seems that Google Gears has poor support for the newer browsers that implement the HTML5 specs. I've heard the word deprecated floating around a few channels, so I'm looking for a replacement that can accomplish the following tasks, and support the new browsers. I can always fall back to gears / standard file POST's but these following items make my process much simpler: Users MUST to be able to select multiple files for uploading in the dialog. I MUST be able to receive status updates on the transmission of a file. (progress bars) I would like to be able to use PUT requests instead of POST I would like to be able to easily attach these events to existing HTML elements using JavaScript. I.E. the File Selection should be triggered on a <button> click. I would like to be able to control response/request parameters easily using JavaScript. I'm not sure if the new HTML5 browsers have support for the desktop/request objects gears uses, or if there is a flash uploader that has these features that I am missing in my google searches. • Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

  I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API. We send a bunch of different request in bulk ( NEW, MODIFY, CANCEL ) to exchange... • Improving Performance on this Image Creation function

  Hello all, I am making use of GD2 and the image functions to take in a string and then convert that into an image using different fonts at different sizes. The function I use is below. Currently, its pretty quick but not quick enough. The function gets called about 20 times per user and the images generated are always new ones (different) so caching isn't going to help! I was hoping to get some ideas on how to make this function faster. Maybe supply more RAM to the script running? Anything else that is specific to this PHP function?   I have three models, Calls, Emails, and Letters and those are basically templates of what gets sent to individuals, modeled as Contacts. When a Call is made, a row in model in ContactCalls gets created. If an Email is sent, an entry in ContactEmails is made. Each has its own controller: contact_calls_controller.rb and contact_emails_controller.rb. I would like to create a single table inheritance called ContactEvents which has types Calls, Emails, and Letters. But I'm not clear how I pass the type information or how to consolidate the controllers. Here's the two controllers I have, as you can see, there's alot of duplication, but some differences that needs to be preserved.   In my JS I use Jquery's $ajax functions to call the web service and send the jsonified data to it. • C Programming: malloc() inside another function

  Hi Guys, I need help with malloc() inside another function. I'm passing a pointer and size to the function from my main() and I would like to allocate memory for that pointer dynamically using malloc() from inside that called function, but what I see is that.... the memory which is getting allocated is for the pointer declared withing my called function and not for the pointer which is inside the main(). • event listener says NetStream.Play.Start but I see no video

  I'm trying to test out the Adobe Media Server, and I'm following some tutorials in order to stream a video. I have a NetConnection which successfully connects to the application on the server, then I have the code below. It looks like it's supposed to play a video, but it doesn't. There are no duplicate entries in the database. So it appears my query is superfically creating duplicates. The query should grab a list of companies that meet the criteria in the where clause, but also grab the Health status for each company in that particular [YearMonth] if present which is what the subquery is for. If an entry for that YearMonth is not present, then leave the Health status blank. but as stated earlier.. if you have an entry say for 2009-03 for CompID 2 and an entry for 2009-04 for CompID 2.. Doesn't matter what month you select it will list that company 2-3 times.
