  • How to display variables in Taglist window in vim

    - by Yogesh Arora
I am using Taglist plugin in vim. In the taglist window i can see tags like namespaces, classes, struct, function but not variables. I saw a screenshot(attached below) on Taglist website which had this info. I am using Vim 7 and Exuberant Ctags 5.8, and i have generated my ctags using this command ctags --c++-kinds=+p --fields=+iaS --extra=+q --language-force=C++

  • Why is Haskell used so little in the industry?

    - by bugspy.net
It is a wonderful, very fast, mature and complete language. It exists for a very long time and has a big set of libraries. Yet, it appears not to be widely used. Why ? I suspect it is because it is pretty rough and unforgiving for beginners, and maybe because its lazy execution makes it even harder

  • WPF DataTemplateKey can not find ListBox key

    - by Ryan
    I am fairly new to WPF and am having trouble getting the DataTemplateKey to find my ListBox. <Window.Resources> <ControlTemplate x:Key="FocusTemplate" > <Rectangle Fill="Azure" Width="290" Height="55" /> </ControlTemplate> <Style x:Key="FocusStyle" TargetType="{x:Type Control}"> <Setter Property="Template" Value="{StaticResource FocusTemplate}"/> </Style> <Style TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <EventSetter Event="GotFocus" Handler="ListItem_GotFocus"></EventSetter> </Style> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="CustomListData" DataType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1" Margin="-2,0,0,-1"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="55*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="*" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="1"/> <SkewTransform AngleX="0" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform Angle="0"/> <TranslateTransform X="0" Y="0"/> </TransformGroup> </Grid.RenderTransform> <!--<ScrollViewer x:Name="PART_ContentHost" />--> <TextBox Width="290" TextAlignment="Left" VerticalContentAlignment="Center" BorderThickness="0" BorderBrush="Transparent" Foreground="#FF6FB8FD" FontSize="18" FocusVisualStyle="{StaticResource FocusStyle}" Name="editingBox" TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding .}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" MinHeight="55" Cursor="Hand" IsReadOnly="True" > <TextBox.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <RotateTransform Angle="0" CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> <TranslateTransform/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <GradientStop Color="#FF2D4984"/> <GradientStop Color="#FF182D56" Offset="0.042"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </TextBox.Background> </TextBox> </Grid> </Border> </DataTemplate> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Setter Property="ItemTemplate" Value="{StaticResource CustomListData }" /> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility" Value="Disabled" /> </Style> </Window.Resources> <Window.DataContext> <ObjectDataProvider ObjectType="{x:Type local:ImageLoader}" MethodName="LoadImages" /> </Window.DataContext> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding}" Width="320" Background="#FF021422" BorderBrush="#FF1C4B79"> <ListBox.Resources> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}">Transparent</SolidColorBrush> </ListBox.Resources> </ListBox> The following code will find a TextBlock var key = new System.Windows.DataTemplateKey(typeof(TextBlock)); var r = (DataTemplate)this.FindResource(key); However, when I change the type to ListBox, the key can not be found. What have I missed? Thanks Ryan

  • What would cause my Silverlight .xap to quadruple in size suddenly?

    - by Edward Tanguay
I've been working on a Silverlight application. I just noticed that the .xap file is now four times as big as it was, what could have caused that? Here's some other info: there seems to now be many more language settings in the bin/Release directory I checked "Reduce size of .xap" in under Properties/Silverlight but that just brought it down from 1300 to 1200. I reference the System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit dll but I was doing that even when it was 325K Screenshot of build directories before and after:

  • Lightweight PHP5 based template class/system

    - by Wizzard
Hi there. Looking at using a template system for a new project, it's only a small site and don't want to use the overhead and 'complexity' of smarty. I don't really like template systems that force you to make use of another language just to make it easier for designers (apparently). Something like this http://www.namepros.com/code/517342-php5-template-class.html is what Im looking at but something which is a bit more robust and proven.

  • Is Ruby on Rails slow with medium traffic?

    - by IHawk
Hello ! I made some searches on Google, and I read some posts, articles and benchmarks about Ruby on Rails being slow and I am planning to build one website that will have a good amount of users inserting data and there will be some applications to process this data (maybe in Ruby, you can help me choosing the language). What is the real performance of Ruby on Rails with large traffic ? Thank you !

  • Can immutable be a memory hog?

    - by ciscoheat
Let's say we have a memory-intensive class like an Image, with chainable methods like Resize() and ConvertTo(). If this class is immutable, won't it take a huge amount of memory when I start doing things like i.Resize(500, 800).Rotate(90).ConvertTo(Gif), compared to a mutable one which modifies itself? How to handle a situation like this in a functional language?

  • Is there a way to avoid debugger?

    - by Gabriel Šcerbák
I don't like debugging in a debugger, because I think it is often below the abstraction layer of the programming language and it is often not reproducible. I favor usign unit tests when possible and I think they are a good way, but it is not always that easy to implement them. Do you know about any other alternative approaches to avoid the use of debugger?

  • Wildcard searching and highlighting with Solr 1.4

    - by andy
    Hey guys, I've got a pretty much vanilla install of SOLR 1.4 apart from a few small config and schema changes. <requestHandler name="standard" class="solr.SearchHandler" default="true"> <!-- default values for query parameters --> <lst name="defaults"> <str name="defType">dismax</str> <str name="echoParams">explicit</str> <str name="qf"> text </str> <str name="spellcheck.dictionary">default</str> <str name="spellcheck.onlyMorePopular">false</str> <str name="spellcheck.extendedResults">false</str> <str name="spellcheck.count">1</str> </lst> </requestHandler> The main field type I'm using for Indexing is this: <fieldType name="textNoHTML" class="solr.TextField" positionIncrementGap="100"> <analyzer type="index"> <charFilter class="solr.HTMLStripCharFilterFactory" /> <tokenizer class="solr.WhitespaceTokenizerFactory"/> <filter class="solr.StopFilterFactory" ignoreCase="true" words="stopwords.txt" enablePositionIncrements="true" /> <filter class="solr.WordDelimiterFilterFactory" generateWordParts="1" generateNumberParts="1" catenateWords="1" catenateNumbers="1" catenateAll="0" splitOnCaseChange="1"/> <filter class="solr.LowerCaseFilterFactory"/> <filter class="solr.SnowballPorterFilterFactory" language="English" protected="protwords.txt"/> </analyzer> <analyzer type="query"> <tokenizer class="solr.WhitespaceTokenizerFactory"/> <filter class="solr.SynonymFilterFactory" synonyms="synonyms.txt" ignoreCase="true" expand="true"/> <filter class="solr.StopFilterFactory" ignoreCase="true" words="stopwords.txt" enablePositionIncrements="true" /> <filter class="solr.WordDelimiterFilterFactory" generateWordParts="1" generateNumberParts="1" catenateWords="0" catenateNumbers="0" catenateAll="0" splitOnCaseChange="1"/> <filter class="solr.LowerCaseFilterFactory"/> <filter class="solr.SnowballPorterFilterFactory" language="English" protected="protwords.txt"/> </analyzer> </fieldType> now, when I perform a search using "q=search+term&hl=on" I get highlighting, and nice accurate scores. BUT, for wildcard, I'm assuming you need to use "q.alt"? Is that true? If so my query looks like this: "q.alt=search*&hl=on" When I use the above query, highlighting doesn't work, and all the scores are "1.0". What am I doing wrong? is what I want possible without bypassing some of the really cool SOLR optimizations. cheers!

  • What is your experience with Nitrogen on Erlang?

    - by Yuval A
I've been checking out the Nitrogen Project which is supposed to be the most mature web development framework for Erlang. Erlang, as a language, is extremely impressive. However, with regards to Nitrogen, what I am not too keen about is using Erlang's rather uncommon syntax (unless you're native in PROLOG) to build UIs. What is your experience with it as opposed to other mainstream web frameworks such as Django or Rails?

  • why does vb not support multiple inheritance?

    - by isolatedIterator
I've seen some discussion on why c# does not implement multiple inheritance but very little as to why it isn't supported in vb. I understand that both c# and vb are compiled down to intermediary language and so they both need to share similar restrictions. The lack of multiple inheritance in VB seems to have been given as one reason for the lack of the feature in dot net. Does anyone know why VB doesn't support multiple inheritance? I'm hoping for a bit of history lesson and discussion on why this was never considered for VB.

  • Good practices for a robust FTP script

    - by dutch
What are the things a script should do to ensure that files have been FTPed correctly? Following are the things I have in mind: 1) use high level scripting language like python or perl instead of shell script for a more comprehensive functionality and error handling 2) check that the file exists at the destination after FTP 3) check destination file size. This is a little bit difficult because file size will change if the source and destination are running different OS. Any tips on how to go about this?

  • IIS7 FTP Setup - An error occured during the authentication process. 530 End Login failed

    - by robmzd
I'm having a problem very similar to IIS 7.5 FTP IIS Manager Users Login Fail (530) on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I have created an FTP site and IIS Manager user but am having trouble logging in. I could really do with getting this working with the IIS Manager user rather than by creating a new system user since I'm fairly restricted with those accounts. Here is the output when connecting locally through command prompt: C:\Windows\system32>ftp localhost Connected to MYSERVER. 220 Microsoft FTP Service User (MYSERVER:(none)): MyFtpLogin 331 Password required for MyFtpLogin. Password: *** 530-User cannot log in. Win32 error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Error details: An error occured during the authentication process. 530 End Login failed. I have followed the guide to configure ftp with iis manager authentication in iis 7 and Adding FTP Publishing to a Web Site in IIS 7 Things I have done and checked: The FTP Service is installed (along with FTP Extensibility). Local Service and Network Service have been given access to the site folder Permission has been given to the config files Granted read/write permissions to the FTP Root folder The Management Service is installed and running Enable remote connections is ticked with 'Windows credentials or IIS manager credentials' selected The IIS Manager User has been added to the server (root connection in the IIS connections branch) The new FTP site has been added IIS Manager Authentication has been added to the FTP authentication providers The IIS Manager user has been added to the IIS Manager Permissions list for the site Added Read/Write permissions for the user in the FTP Authorization Rules Here's a section of the applicationHost config file associated with the FTP site <site name="MySite" id="8"> <application path="/" applicationPool="MyAppPool"> <virtualDirectory path="/" physicalPath="D:\Websites\MySite" /> </application> <bindings> <binding protocol="http" bindingInformation="*:80:www.mydomain.co.uk" /> <binding protocol="ftp" bindingInformation="*:21:www.mydomain.co.uk" /> </bindings> <ftpServer> <security> <ssl controlChannelPolicy="SslAllow" dataChannelPolicy="SslAllow" /> <authentication> <basicAuthentication enabled="true" /> <customAuthentication> <providers> <add name="IisManagerAuth" enabled="true" /> </providers> </customAuthentication> </authentication> </security> </ftpServer> </site> ... <location path="MySite"> <system.ftpServer> <security> <authorization> <add accessType="Allow" users="MyFtpLogin" permissions="Read, Write" /> </authorization> </security> </system.ftpServer> </location> If I connect to the Site (not FTP) from my local IIS Manager using the same IIS Manager account details then it connects fine, I can browse files and change settings as I would locally (though I don't seem to have an option to upload files). Trying to connect via FTP though either through the browser or FileZilla etc... gives me: Status: Resolving address of www.mydomain.co.uk Status: Connecting to 123.456.12.123:21... • Programmatically measure size and way-order of L1 and L2 caches

    - by osgx
How can I measure programmatically (not query the OS, but measure) the size and order of associativity of L1 and L2 caches (data caches)? Assumptions about system: It has L1 and L2 cache (may be L3 too, may be cache sharing), It may have a hardware prefetch unit (just like P4+), It has a stable clocksource (tickcounter or good HPET for gettimeofday). There are no assumptions about OS (it can be Linux, Windows, or something non-standard), and we can't use POSIX queries. Language is C. And compiler optimizations may be disabled.
