    Hi All, I've known for a long time that F4 key drops down the list in a combo box(drop down) in windows applications. In I.E, the address box drops down if you press F4 anywhere in the page. This is NOT what I had expected, though. However, what I want to know is, in Windows(at least), what is the key combination that will drop down the list of a drop down control(combo box) in a web browser (say, Firefox or Chrome) ?   • Database Driven Web Application, C# Front-End and F# Back-End meaning

    Hi I am an intern working with ASP.NET. My current task is to make a website which will incorporate some jquery viewing features. This project seems to me will be primarily dealing with reading data from a database and making graphs out of them. This will require me to make custom queries from whatever the client is looking at. I think it is going to be what this guy calls an Ad Hoc Query tool My plan for this is to make it a database-driven website. So I can utilize the jquery dynamic viewing capabilities. I stumbled upon the functional programming paradigm and found F#. I read that because of it's functional programming paradigm, it makes it a good language to do asynchronous functions. I read about how you can use this with LINQ to SQL and how easy it is to make queries without actually putting the query language in. I understand the concept of the MVC design pattern. But I don't understand what they mean about C# being the front-end and F# being the back-end. Can someone clarify this to me? Also what are your thoughts about doing this project in this way? Any comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated. I feel as if learning F# will be a great learning experience for me. My guess is that the F# back-end is like the part where it controls the calls to the database. F# is possibly the model part of the design pattern. And C# is the controller. So HTML, Javascript and Jquery stuff will be my View design pattern. Clarify please?

  • Shutting down Ubuntu 11.10 with power button without x11-session

    when pressing the power-button inside a (gnome-)session, ubuntu asks me what to do and shuts down after 60 seconds anyway. No problem so far. But if i'm not logged in in a gnome-session (for example in the login screen), or just change to a tty, then the power-button won't work. But i remember that i worked in 11.04. So what's changed and how to restore? Background: I use my machine as a print server. If im not home and my wife wants to print sth., she used to switch on my machine, print via her laptop, and then just shut it down by power-button. Beginning of march i was on a business tour, and she called me that she could not shutdown my machine anymore. I shut it down by ssh, but this seems not the favorable way to me. I already had a look in /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh and think that the line if pidof x $PMS > /dev/null; then exit is the cause for this since it aborts the script when no gui-power-manager is found. Is that right? But that does not explain with the power-button does not work when switching from the x11-session to a tty, although this would not be critical to me. Thanks in advance Greetings RJ

    I was building and updating my server using EasyApache when the web browser crashed, the browser then restarted and I think tried to run another of the EasyApache build which failed .. possibly due to the previous one still running? My question is would the first one still be running in the background but I just can't view it anymore? Is there anyway to check that the first one built and finished okay?

Someone wanted to hack my account, so I changed password to a pretty complicated one, which I could not remember..(I know:)) I needed to prove my identity by typing in 3 codes that were sent to 3 friends on fb. I did it. Fb told me to come back in one day. I did so. But this is the message I keep getting: "We're sorry. The email you used to start the account recovery process is already in use.     Hi all, I have the following code (just typed it in here, might have typos or stuff): typedef boost::ptr_vector<SomeClass> tvec; tvec v; // ... fill v ... tvec vsnap; for(tvec::iterator it = v.begin(); it != v.end(); ++it) { if((*v).anyCondition) vsnap.push_back( it ); // (*it) or &(*it) doesn't work } My problem is now that i cant push_back an iterator in any way, I just don't get the pointer out of the iterator. Is there an easy way i didnt see, or are boosts ptr_vector the false choice for this case? Thanks in advance.

    Hey guys, my doubt is pretty simple to understand. I have a sql procedure that generates a util file as its output depending on the input parameters that are passed to it. I have to pass these parameters from an html page from 3 text boxes.There will also be a button ,on clicking which, the procedure will be called and the util will be generated. I thought of doing it in jsp and writing the full procedure there itself. But i want to util file to opened in WORD the moment it is generated.   • WPF Beginner - A simple XAML layout not working as expected

    Hi, I've just started learning WPF, and followed a book to make this sample calculator application in XAML. The XAML code is attached below. I don't have any UI specific code in the xaml.cs file. However, I'm seeing a difference between design time and runtime. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the upper left button of the calculator is bigger than the rest. Even more confusingly, the designer when I edit the XAML shows the button correctly. I've tried to determine why is that, and I'm stumped. Can anyone help? I'm using VS2008, targeting framework 3.5, if it's any help.   • Touchpad button assignments don't persist with Lenovo T400 on WinXP

    I have a Lenovo T400 notebook with Windows XP on it. I usually use the TrackPoint, and almost never use the TouchPad. I do a look of work on Linux over VNC, in my setup the middle mouse button is mapped to "paste". Considering that the notebook doesn't really have a middle button (it's only a scrolling button) I mapped the unused left button of the TouchPad to be a middle button. However, when I send the computer to Standby and bring it out, the left button reverts to being a left button, not a middle one. How can I make sure that the mapping persists?

    Is this possible? I have two mice connected at once (one on each side, so I can swap hands to help ease RSI). One is a 5 button mouse, the other 3 buttons. I like to set the 3 button's third button to Mac's expose, but the button I'd like to use for this on the 5 button mouse is the fifth button. Is it possible to change the fifth button to the third on this mouse? Or could you suggest an alternative solution? Thanks.

I have a MClip associated with the mouse cursor: Mouse.hide(); scope.startDrag(true); And an MouseEnvet on the stage: stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, FunctionXYZ); When I try to click on any button they don't assume the function that I create for those buttons... for example, button for fullscreen, exit, help, etc...     An almost clean install of Ubuntu 13.10 keeps hiding the power button. I noticed before that my clock and power button were missing in the right top corner. I rebooted my system and they were back. Now I see my power button only is missing. How do I go about fixing this? I can't keep rebooting, can I? The latest thing I did was removing Ubuntu One: Removing Ubuntu One I don't think I did something that might've tinkered with these settings though.
