  • How to force asp.net MVC 2 to redirect to default controller/action

    In a brand new ASP.NET MVC2 project, I want the user to be redirected to http://<mysite>/home/index rather than http://<mysite>/ We do this with our other sites for tracking purposes, to avoid the scenario where hits to the same default page show up as http://<mysite>/ http://<mysite>/default.aspx How do I accomplish this so that http://<mysite>/ automatically redirects to whatever default controller/action I have set up in my routing? Please note that I am aware the two are functionally equivalent, as the default controller action will be executed either way. I'm just interested in forcing consistent URLs in the browser.

  • How to structure controller to sort multiple criteria asp.net mvc

    Hi, What's the best way to set up a controller to sort by many (possibly null) criteria? Say for example, I was building a site that sold cars. My CarController has a function Index() which returns an IList of cars to the view, and details on each car are rendered with a partial view. What's the best way to structure this? Especially if there are a lot of criteria: Car Type (aka SUV), Car Brand, Car Model, Car Year, Car Price, Car Color, bool IsNew, or if I want to sort by closest to me etc... I'm using NHibernate as my ORM. Should I have just a ton of possible NHibernate queries and figure out which one to choose based on if/then's in the controller? Or is there a simpler way.   • Codeigniter redirect repeats controller name in URL

    This is my controller: class Timesheet extends Controller { ... function index() { //loads view with a form that submits to "timesheet/change_date" } function summary() { //loads view with a form that submits to "timesheet/change_week" } function change_date() { ... redirect('timesheet'); } function change_week() { ... redirect('timesheet/summary'); } ... } The first form is located at http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet and when I submit the change_date form, it correctly goes thru the change_date() function and re-loads http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet correctly. However, the second form is located at http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet/summary, and when I submit the change-week form, it goes thru the change_week() function but goes to http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet/timesheet/change_week. Notice the word timesheet is repeated. When I submit the form again, another timesheet is added. What's wrong and how do I improve my code?   • Is enemy / bot A.I. part of the model or controller in an MVC game

    It could be part of the model because it's part of the business logic of the game. It could be part of the controller because it could be seen as simulating player input, which would be considered part of the controller, right? Or would it? What about a normal enemy, like a goomba in Mario? UPDATE: Wow, that's really not the answer I was expecting. As far as I could tell, A.I. is an internal part of the autonomous game system, hence model. I'm still not convinced.

    I have a virtual directory under my MVC website in IIS called "Files". This directory is at the same level as my Views directory. When I link to a file from my MVC app to a file under my Files directory, I get the following error: The controller for path '/Files/Images/1c7f7eb8-5d66-4bca-a73a-4ba6340a7805.JPG' was not found or does not implement IController. It thinks that my Files VD is a controller. How do I access my files like a normal VD without MVC interfering? Thanks.

    Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist.   • Aop, Unity, Interceptors and ASP.NET MVC Controller Action Methods

    Using log4net we would like to log all calls to our ASP.NET MVC controller action methods. The logs should include information about any parameters that were passed to the controller. Rather than hand-coding this in each action method we hope to use an AoP approach with Interceptors via Unity. We already have this working with some other classes that use interfaces (using the InterfaceInterceptor). However, we're not sure how to proceed with our controllers. Should we re-work them slightly to use an interface, or is there a simpler approach? Edit The VirtualMethodInterceptor seems to be the correct approach, however using this results in the following exception: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.   • What's an easy way to set up object communication in Obj-C?

    I am trying to send a slider value from a controller object to a method of a model object. The later is implemented in the separate file and I have appropriate headers. I think the problem is that I am not sure how to instantiate the receiver in order to produce a working method for the controller. Here is the controller's method. -(IBAction)setValue:(id)slider {[Model setValue:[slider floatValue]];} @implementation Model -(void)setValue:(float)n{ printf("%f",n); } @end What I get is 'Model' may not respond to '+setValue' warning and no output in my console. Any insight is appreciated.

    I've been googling around and I can't seem to find anything which explains the use of ZF router well. I've read the documentation on the site, which seems to only talk about re-routing. I am trying to make the format: /module/value/controller/action give /module/controller/action passing on value as a parameter e.g. /store/johnsmithbigsale/home/newstuff would route to /store/home/newstuff passing on johnsmithbigsale as the value to a parameter with a hidden namespace e.g. storeName. Some help would be greatful!

    Hello, I have a dictionary I'm passing to a View. I want to be able to pass the values of that dictionary back to a Controller action from this same View. Is there anyway this can be accomplished without using a form? The situation is that I need to be able to pass these back to a controller action that is called when a user clicks an ActionLink from the View, and in my experience an ActionLink cannot be used to submit a values of a form, i.e. I've only been able to submit values of a form using the form's submit button. Unless there's a way to use an ActionLink to submit values in a form.

  • Resizing Tab Bar Controller Views (iPhone dev)

    Hello, I have an application set up where the window contains a tab bar controller and one of the tabs loads a NIB called 'ShowCaseView.xib': this file is owned by a custom ShowcaseViewController class. In the ShowcaseViewcontroller class I have added a UIScrollView object, like so: imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; [[self view] addSubview:imageScrollView]; The issue I am having is that this UIScrollView object extends beneath my tab bar controller. So I have had to reduce its insets manually: #define TAB_BAR_HEIGHT 48 . . UIEdgeInsets edgeInsets = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 0, TAB_BAR_HEIGHT, 0); [imageScrollView setScrollIndicatorInsets:edgeInsets]; So, Is it common to have to manually deduct the tab bar height from a view (whether this be by reducing the size of subviews or the View NIB in inspector)? Is there a way that I can tell a NIB's view loaded from a tab bar to resize itself automatically to NOT sit behind the tab bar? Cheers

    I am using STI and am wondering, do I have to have a separate controller for each model? I have a situation where I only use the create and edit actions for one model in the STI relationship, but I get an 'undefined method' error if I try to do a form for. More specifically, I have two models that inherit from List: class RegularList < List class OtherList < List and I have a lists controller that handles these actions, but I only create new models with RegularList using forms. i.e. the only situation where I use a form_for to create a new List object is with RegularList. What I would like to do is something like: class ListsController < ApplicationController def new @list = RegularList.new end otherwise the route for creating a new list looks like regular_list/new but I would like it to just be list/new. Thoughts?

    I need some advice, what is the rule of the thumb when creating Rails controllers names? Should controller be all be verbs or a combination of nouns and verbs (or adjectives)? This is the example provided on creating controllers in Rails, ./script/generate controller CreditCard open debit credit close # which is a combination of nouns and verbs (unless credit and debit is made into a verb) However, if I create a scaffold, the default controller actions would be index, show, new, edit, update, destroy, which has 1 noun and all verb. Should nouns and verbs be separated completely for sake of consistency also providing a clearer project goals? Or should I mix them together?

    I am trying to restrict access to certain actions using a before_filter which seems easy enough. Somehow the ApplicationController is not recognizing that the current_user is the owner of the user edit action. When I take the filter off the controller correctly routes the current_user to their edit view information. Here is the code.     Hello, In my app I am using the ym4r-gm plugin, which allows you to play with the Google Maps API... I put the map "setup" in the controller: @map = GMap.new("div_map") @map.control_init(:large_map => true, :map_type => true) @map.center_zoom_init([47.0, 26.0], 7) ... And only render @map in the view. So my first question is whether I am using the right approach of "diving" this code? And the second question is: I have to models, which are rendering the same map (only the resources are different). Where should I put my refactored method that renders the map? In the application controller, maybe? Thanks in advance, I hope you will understand me!

  • Exception if there is IBOutlet in view controller created by initWithNibName

    When I create a Navigation-based application, the second view controller is created with initWithNibName, if I add a label onto the second view and connect it with IBOutlet in the second view controller. After I navigate to the second view by clicking table cell, and then back to the root view, the application aborts - send message retainCount to a freed object. I know this is caused by the IBOutlet label, which is retained, set nil in viewDidUnload and dealloc in dealloc. But I don't know why, and if I wanna still use IBOutlet, what can I do? Not dealloc it in viewcontroller's dealloc? Anybody could help? Thank you.

    Im trying to make a table row work as a link to another view in my mvc website. Instead of using the standard "Details" link provided by the auto generated table list, I would like to use the table row as a link to the "Details" view instead. So somehow I need to make the row work as a link. Each rom has a unique id that I need to pass on to the controller method. I have tried different solutions but noting happens when I press on the table row...
