• Content Query Web Part - How do you OrderBy when you QueryOverride?

  How do you order items when you override the QueryOverride property of the Content Query Web Part? I have been given responsibility for a Web Part which extends the Content Query Web Part. The QueryOverride property of this Web Part is programmatically changed. Currently, the Web Part does not function as designed, as it does not order the items according to the appropriate field. If I add an <OrderBy> node to the QueryOverride property I get an error message along the lines of 'something wrong with the query this web part is...' and the Content Query Web Part doesn't seem to have an OrderBy property which I could use instead. The "QueryOverride property" part of this msdn article seems to suggest I should be able to add an <OrderBy> node to the QueryOverride but a number of web sites I've been reading suggest that this is not true. So, wow do you order items when you override the QueryOverride property of the Content Query Web Part?

• How to retrieve only updated/new records since the last query in SQL?

  Hi all, I was asked to design a class for caching SQL query results. Calling the class' query method will query and cache the entire set of results at the first time; afterward, each subsequence query will retrieve only the updated portion, and will merge the result into the cache. If the class is required to be generic, i.e. NO knowledge about the db and the tables, do you have any idea? Is it possible, and how to retrieve only updated/new records since the last query? Thanks! • Adding a calculated field to a Query at run time.

  I'm getting data using a query in Delphi, and would like to add a calculated field to the query before it runs. The calculated field is using values in code as well as the query so I can't just calculate it in SQL. I know I can attach an OnCalcFields Event to actually make the calculation, but the problem is after adding the calculated field there are no other fields in the query... I did some digging and found that all of the field defs are created but the actual fields are only created if DefaultFields then CreateFields Default Fields is specified procedure TDataSet.DoInternalOpen; begin FDefaultFields := FieldCount = 0; ... end; Which would indicate that if you add fields you only get the fields you added. I would like all the fields in the query AS WELL AS the ones I Add. Is this possible or do I have to add all the fields I'm using as well?

• MD5 vertex skinning problem extending to multi-jointed skeleton (GPU Skinning)

  Currently I'm trying to implement GPU skinning in my project. So far I have achieved single joint translation and rotation, and multi-jointed translation. The problem arises when I try to rotate a multi-jointed skeleton. The image above shows the current progress. The left image shows how the model should deform. The middle image shows how it deforms in my project. The right shows a better deform (still not right) inverting a certain value, which I will explain below. The way I get my animation data is by exporting it to the MD5 format (MD5mesh for mesh data and MD5anim for animation data). When I come to parse the animation data, for each frame, I check if the bone has a parent, if not, the data is passed in as is from the MD5anim file. If it does have a parent, I transform the bones position by the parents orientation, and the add this with the parents translation. Then the parent and child orientations get concatenated. The invBindPose matrices are simply the inverted matrices created from the joints in the MD5mesh file. Update 1 I looked at GLM to compare the values I get with my own implementation. They turn out to be exactly the same. So now i'm checking if there's a problem with matrix creation... Update 2 Looked at GLM again to compare matrix creation using quaternions. Turns out that's not the problem either.

• Multi-lingual error messages and error numbers

  So we're looking at the possibility of porting our software to support multiple languages and one of the areas we're going to have to deal with is error messages and other notifications. These obviously have to be reported to the users in their own language. Our team (largely) only speak English and even if we were all multi-lingual we're looking at selling to a wide range of countries and could never expect to have a reasonable number of people speaking all languages (we're a small company). The obvious way to get round the language issue when errors or other messages we may get asked about which are being reported is error numbers which would be consistent across language. While these are going to exist in the backend (if only as key on the error message), I'd really rather not throw them at users if we don't have to but I don't have any other solution. Anyone have any useful suggestions for alternatives?

• Multi-platform Map Application

  I'm working on a web project (PHP, jQuery) which currently using Google Maps powering up the map functionality of the application, however we need to make it multi-platform like you can go to the dashboard and choose one from 5-10 map providers (which Goolge Maps is just one of them) to underlying your map functionality. So, as the application is supposed to show the data on map, almost in every single place we have to deal with the API provided by that specific map provider. Currently we are thinking about revising our modular structure and/or making something like an adapter for each provider to deal with their native syntax but via our standard methods. I wish to have your ideas and your experiences, specially if you ever made an interface for dealing via 2-3 different map providers. That would helps much and I really appreciate that. If you need any further information, just ask me to update the question. Update: As Vicky Chijwani suggested Mapstraction, now I'm also wondering which one is more better (pros & cons), having an adapter implemented on Javascript or PHP?

  I have an XPS15 laptop, core i5, 8GB ram. Whenever I login my laptop I here the startup bongo sound. But my sound system just doesn't play anything, may it be a short audio clip or a movie. • Repairing or recreating a bootloader on a multi-booting EFI GPT system

  Reinstalling Ubuntu messed up my boot loader so I I tried to fix it with boot repair. It detected my OSX installation and asked about removing the "separate boot/EFI". It also said my partition was full despite the fact that it wasn't and asked me to remove stuff. I declined both and proceeded. It's been stuck at the "purge and reinstall the GRUB" stage for half an hour. Is this typical, bearing in mind I have a fast SSD and CPU? Is there a better way to re-install grub on a multi-booting UEFI system? Does my pastebin provide any insight?

There are a few variables which may be holding things up, but I can't figure out the origin of the problem, nor a solution. • How to prevent a 404 Error when installing a subdomain using a wordpress multi-site installation

  I have installed a multi-site instillation of WordPress onto my domain. I then added the necessary code to the wp-config.php file and .htaccess as instructed by WordPress. I also installed a plugin called Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin which allowed me to place a 301 redirect onto the main domain as I only want to use the sub domain and not the main domain. Then I also added the following line of code to the wp-config.php file to redirect the main domain define( 'NOBLOGREDIRECT', 'URL Redirect Address' ); The site works fine with a redirect on the main domain and my subdomain runs fine when you type in subdomain.domain.com or http://subdomain.domain.com. However when I enter www.subdomain.domain.com or http://www.subdomain.domain.com the following error message is returned: Not Found The requested URL / was not found on this server. Apache/2.4.9 (Unix) Server at www.subdomain.domain.com Port 80 Any help with this would be much appreciated.

• Usefulness of blogs for multi language ecommerce site

  I have a multi-language ecommerce site for which I am trying to improve its online marketing. There's currently a blog for the english shop, on a subdomain, which doesn't really get very much traffic. I'd been recommended to set up blogs for each of the different language shops and try to generate traffic to each of the blogs. I'm wondering if this is really worth the effort and cost (blog devt costs and ongoing translations required). Does anyone have any experience/advice on this at all? Perhaps where they've used this approach successfully or otherwise?

• Multi Monitor Setup Problems

  I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx. I have until recently been using a nVida Graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT) with two monitors attached, this all worked fine and dandy. A couple of days ago I bought two new identical LCD monitors for a multi monitor setup and two ATI graphics cards (ATI Sapphire Radeon HD5450). NOTE *All monitors work fine in Windows XP, 2k, Vista and 7 After I had booted into Ubuntu only one display came on, that I kind of expected anyway, then I removed the driver for the nVidia card and downloaded the ATI version which gave me the ATI Catalyst Control Center - in that only two of the displays were showing the third was disabled and showing unknown driver. I enabled the third monitor that stated "Unkown Driver" and had to reboot, upon reboot none of the displays work. I restarted and booted up into recovery mode and from now that is only what I can get into using a failsafe driver. It seems according to the log that a server is already active for Display 0 and I have to remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again. This is what the log file is saying: Fatal Server Error Server is already active for display 0 if this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again. (WW) xf86 closeconsole: KDSETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor (WW) xf86 closeconsole: VT_GETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor (WW) xf86 closeconsole: VT_GETSTATE failed: Bad file descriptor ddxSigGiveUp: closing log I have tried looking at my xorg.config file but unfortunately I have not really got a clue as to how it "should" be - I have tried regenerating it using this command from a terminal: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg but that had no effect so I am currently stuck in failsafe driver mode but two monitors are active but are mirroring each other. I hope that this is not to long - looking back I have been going on a bit! but I am just trying to explain as much as I can... I have asked this on Linuxquestions but nobody seems to know either or at least I have not had any responses. Could some kind soul please help explain what I can do from here? I would be eternally grateful.   I am quite certain we cannot use the LIMIT clause for what I want to do - so wanted to find if there are any other ways we can accomplish this. I have a table which captures which user visited which store. Every time a user visits a store, a row is inserted into this table. Some of the fields are shopping_id (primary key) store_id user_id Now what I want is - for a given set of stores, find the top 5 users who have visited the store max number of times. I can do this 1 store at a time as: select store_id,user_id,count(1) as visits from shopping where store_id = 60 group by user_id,store_id order by visits desc Limit 5 This will give me the 5 users who have visited store_id=60 the max times What I want to do is provide a list of 10 store_ids and for each store fetch the 5 users who have visited that store max times select store_id,user_id,count(1) as visits from shopping where store_id in (60,61,62,63,64,65,66) group by user_id,store_id order by visits desc Limit 5 This will not work as the Limit at the end will return only 5 rows rather than 5 rows for each store. Any ideas on how I can achieve this. I can always write a loop and pass 1 store at a time but wanted to know if there is a better way

  I have two foreach statements. The variable from one one is somehow getting into another and i'm not sure how to fix it. Instead, it's showing the row ID of the category table. so, if i'm viewing /site/categories/6 <?=$crow->id?> will show 6 when it should be showing 10 (the row ID of the only business in that category at this time. How can I fix this?

• How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

  I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.

• Filtering SQLAlchemy query on attribute_mapped_collection field of relationship

  I have two classes, Tag and Hardware, defined with a simple parent-child relationship (see the full definition at the end). Now I want to filter a query on Tag using the version field in Hardware through an attribute_mapped_collection, eg: def get_tags(order_code=None, hardware_filters=None): session = Session() query = session.query(Tag) if order_code: query = query.filter(Tag.order_code == order_code) if hardware_filters: for k, v in hardware_filters.iteritems(): query = query.filter(getattr(Tag.hardware, k).version == v) return query.all() But I get: AttributeError: Neither 'InstrumentedAttribute' object nor 'Comparator' object associated with Tag.hardware has an attribute 'baseband The same thing happens if I strip it back by hard-coding the attribute, eg: query.filter(Tag.hardware.baseband.version == v) I can do it this way: query = query.filter(Tag.hardware.any(artefact=k, version=v)) But why can't I filter directly through the attribute?
