  After reboot my SATA 1TB WD1000FYPS (previously is was "Drive error") is marked 0 mb in 3ware web gui. • Which file system to use for portable hard drive shared among different operating systems?

  Something similar has been asked already but my criteria is a little different. I need to share a portable hard drive (USB/Firewire) between Mac OSX, Linux and Windows XP systems where the files being shared are sometimes 4GB. Is there a file system that is available out of the box on all these operating systems that support this and allows read/write access? If not, what's the next best solution in terms of installing additional software on these operating systems?

  I have installed PC suite 7.1 and cable CA-42 and trying to connect the mobile as a modem to send and receive sms but the mobile is not connecting with the pc. I have installed the nokia 6020 modem driver. I am running windows XP 64-bit operation system. While i connect phone to a USB port it prompts new hardware found and go for installation of required software but installation of new hardware getting failed.

• BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

  I have a DC (FQDN:server.icmcpk.local) and an ADC (FQDN:file-server.icmcpk.local). Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it. I m attaching the Dcdiags for all three servers. • Can't sync iphone when sync podcasts selected

  I've gone through the following steps: Loaded up iTunes 10 on a Windows7 machine Went to iTunes store and subscribed to a podcast Selected sync podcasts Clicked sync However, it always hangs on step 1 of 3 - it just gives a status of 'Backing up' and never progresses past that. I've waited over an hour 3 times now. I'm getting so infuriated with this iTunes software; I'm afraid I might damage my PC in frustration ;-) Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

• How can I filter packets from a port monitor?

  I have some data going from Point A to Point B. I have a SPAN monitor set up to a monitoring device C. To recreate some real world scenarios, I want to filter out all traffic which is a certain type (H.323 VoIP Signaling Packets) so that C sees a subset of the information that is flowing from A to B. What would the easiest way to do this be? I assume I would need a computer with 2 NIC cards and some software to examine each packet and chuck out the H.323 VoIP packets? Thanks!

  A friend of mine likes ripping DVDs to his Mac. He’s currently on an ancient machine, and is about to upgrade to either a MacBook Pro or an iMac. Just wondering if any of the Mac DVD ripping software will rip faster on the iMac (thanks to its four cores), as opposed to the MacBook Pro (a measly two cores)? Or is DVD ripping not that sort of task?

Our software vendor is now requiring windows server 2003 R2 for it's next version and I'm wondering if I will have any issues running the R2 upgrade. I see a lot of Microsoft articles referencing upgrading from 2003 or 2003 SP1 but nothing talking about upgrading to R2 from SP2.

• Linux / UNIX / OS X Binary Directory Structure

  Will Linux / UNIX / OS X binaries be stored in the same directories across different platform or distributions? I'm asking because I need to have access to uuidgen (stored in /usr/bin/uuidgen on my development computer) and noticed that my local Apache server does not include /usr/bin in the PATH. I know I could add /usr/bin to the path, but I want to make sure the software can be re-deployed on a number of different systems with ease. Thanks!

• Front audio jack not working or missconfigured?

  I have win xp and asus p5ql-e motherboard. The problem is that when i plug in my headphones on the front audio jack, the computer doesn't recognizes it. They work on the back audio jack but not on the front - how can i be sure that it;s not a software problem (something miss configured or not configured at all), before i conclude that it's a hardware problem (broken front audio jack or miss connected to the motherboard)?

  There's ways to get performance graphs with several monitoring software packages out there such as ZenOSS. There's a plugin available that will graph MySQL based SELECT/WRITE/SLOW queries in a nice rrd style graph. I'm curious if there is a way to also get similar graphs available in Nagios 3.0? I know Nagios has tools like pnp and can integrate rrd, but is there something readily available that can plugin to monitor those MySQL specifics?

  I have a networked drive (Iomega Media Drive). To be safe in case the drives crashes, I've decided to buy an additional networked drive (WD MyBook World). Now, how do I backup one onto the other continuously? The WD drive came with a backup software (trial version, they didn't say that when i bought it), however it doesn't allow me to select a networked drive, only local drives.   I have a few folders in my Windows folder (I'm running Windows 7) like this: C:\Windows\1C4551A64743409391E41477CD655043.TMP\WiseCustomCalla.dll All they contain is WiseCustomCalla.dll. I've read that it is part of McAfee antivirus or whatever. The problem is: I have never ever installed any antivirus software on my machine. What is this file and what is it doing on my machine? I am also using Steam and PunkBuster if that helps.

I believe that if I see some statistics of my use of both input devices, I could reduce my use of mouse clicks. • VPN connection sharing for Ubuntu guest

  I have Ubuntu 10.04 guest on Windows XP host. I need to use a specific VPN software that works only on Windows. How should I configure virtualbox/guest so that the VPN connection would be visible on guest? I already tried NAT and bridged network settings. With both of these options I get only normal internet connection to work, but sites requiring VPN don't work on guest, only on host.

  I listen to a daily podcast that is about 4 hours long. I think it would be a cool project if I could come with some way to generate transcripts of it automatically.   Hi, it seems that VMware Server 2.0.2 and Firefox 3.6 RC1 don't like each other. I have a reproducible problem on different networks, each with same software configuration (FF3.6 RC1 and VMware Server 2.0.2 on Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS 64bit). The login screen doesn't show up and the Firefox remarks and non loadable page. It cannot load the page at all. The redirect is done (from http://:8222 to https://:8333 ) Maybe someone can help?

• Using WinAmp to put music on an iPod/iPhone

  Back in the day, with older iPods, you could copy music onto them using Winamp's Music Library. I heard that newer iPods and iPhones have all sort of encryption that prevents this from being fully functional.
