  • How to handle unknown initializer functions in lua?

    I want to load data written in a variant of lua (eyeonScript). However, the data is peppered with references to initialization functions that are not in plain lua: Redden = BrightnessContrast { Inputs = { Red = Input { Value = 0, }, }, } Standard lua gives "attempt to call a nil value" or "unexpected symbol" errors. Is there any way to catch these and pass it to some sort of generic initializer? I want to wind up with a nested table data structure. Thanks!

    I have a simple form that I would like to validate on form submission. In my controller I have: public ActionResult Submit(string FirstName, string LastName) { if (FirstName.Trim().Length == 0) ModelState.AddModelError("FirstName", "You must enter a first name"); if (LastName.Trim().Length == 0) ModelState.AddModelError("LastName", "You must enter a first name"); if (ModelState.IsValid) { //Update database + redirect to action } return View(); //If ModelState not valid, return to View and show error messages } Unfortunately, this code logic produces an error that states that no objects are found for JobRole and Courses. If I remove the dropdownlist and checkboxes then all works fine. The issue appears to be that when I return the View the view is expecting objects for the dropwdownlist and checkboxes (which is sensible as that is what is in my View code) How can I overcome this problem? Things I have considered: In my controller I could create a JobRoleList object and Course object to pass to the View so that it has the objects to render. The issue with this is that it will overwrite any dropdownlist / checkbox selections that the user has already made. In the parameters of my controller method Submit I could aslo capture the JobRoleList object and Course object to pass back to the View. Again, not sure this would capture any items the user has already selected. I have done much googling and reading but I cannot find a good answer. When I look at examples in books or online (e.g. Nerddinner) all the validation examples involve simple forms with TextBox inputs and don't seems to show instances with multiple checkboxes and dropdownlists. Have I missed something obvious here? What would be best practice in this situation? Thanks

    Currently in my tests I do something like this to test if an email is queued to be sent assert_difference('ActionMailer::Base.deliveries.size', 1) do get :create_from_spreedly, {:user_id => @logged_in_user.id} end but if i a controller action can send two different emails i.e. one to the user if sign up goes fine or a notification to admin if something went wrong - how can i test which one actually got sent. The code above would pass regardless.

  • ASP.NET MVC Return to Previous Page

    I have a basic Edit method in my controller that redirects back to a top level listing (“Index”) when the edit succeeds. Standard setup after scaffolding. I am trying to change this Edit method to redirect back to the previous page (not Index). Since my Edit method is not using the default mapped input parameter “id”, I am using that to pass the previous URL. In my Edit “get” method, I use this line to grab the previous URL and it works fine: ViewBag.ReturnUrl = Request.UrlReferrer.AbsoluteUri; I send this return URL to the Edit “post” method by using my form tag like this: @using (Html.BeginForm(new { id = ViewBag.ReturnUrl })) Now this is where the wheels fall off. I can't seem to get the URL parsed from the id parameter properly. UPDATE**** Using Gary's example as a guide, I changing my parameter name from "id" to "returnUrl" and used a hidden field to pass my parameter. Lesson: Only use the id parameter how it was intended to be used...keep it simple. It works now...     I understand that Haskell's filter is a high order function (meaning a function that takes another function as a parameter) that goes through a list checking which element fulfills certain boolean condition. I don't quite understand its definition: filter:: (a->Bool)->[a]->[a] filter p [] = [] filter p (x:y) | p x = x:filter p y | otherwise = filter p y I understand that if I pass an empty list to the function, it would just return an empty list, but how do I read the last two lines?

    Hi All, I am listening for Directory and disk changes in a COCOA project using FSEvents. I need to get events when a root folder is renamed or deleted. So, I passed kFSEventStreamCreateFlagWatchRoot while creating the FSEventStream.But even if I delete or rename the root folder I am not getting corresponding FSEventStreamEventFlags. Any idea what could possibly be the issue. I am listening for changes in a USB mounted device. I used both FSEventStreamCreate and FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice. One thing I notices is when I try with FSEventStreamCreate I get the following error message while creating FSEventStream: (CarbonCore.framework) FSEventStreamCreate: watch_all_parents: error trying to add kqueue for fd 7 (/Volumes/NO NAME; Operation not supported) But with FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice there are no errors but still not getting kFSEventStreamEventFlagRootChanged in event flags. Also, while creation using FSEventStreamCreateRelativeToDevice apple say's if I want to listen to root path changes pass emty string "". But I am not able to listen to root path changes by passing empty string. But when I pass "/" it works. But even for "/" I do not get any proper FSEventStreamEventFlags.     Hi When parsing an .obj-file, with vertices and vertex-faces, it is easy to pass the vertices to the shader and the use glDrawElements using the vertex-faces. When parsing an .obj-file, with vertices and texture-coordinates, another type of face occur: texture-coordinate faces. When displaying textures, apart from loading images, binding them and passing texture coordinates into the parser, how to use the texture-coordinate faces? They differ from the vertex-faces and I suppose that the texture-coordinate faces have a purpose when displaying textures? Regards Niclas

    I have an NxM matrix in Matlab that I would like to reorder in similar fashion to the way JPEG reorders its subblock pixels: (referenced from here) I would like the algorithm to be generic such that I can pass in a 2D matrix with any dimensions. I am a C++ programmer by trade and am very tempted to write an old school loop to accomplish this, but I suspect there is a better way to do it in Matlab.
