  The default output of File.toURL() is file:/c:/foo/bar These don't appear to work on windows, and need to be changed to file:///c:/foo/bar Does the format file:/c:/foo/bar work correctly on Unix (I don't have a Unix machine to test on)? Is there a library that can take care of generating a URL from a File that is in the correct format for the current environment?

  Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise DB and using the new Merge statement (when source and target are both SQL Server 2008 DB tables), and it works well. I have another database table which is hosted in SQL Server 2005 Enterprise DB. I want to know whether Merge statement could using one table of SQL Server 2008 as source, and another tableof SQL Server 2005 as target?   Hi, I recently contacted a web host regarding support for external database access to a Microsoft SQL Database included in a package they offer. They replied saying that it is only possible with an SSH-tunnel. Is it possible to connect to a MS SQL database in Visual Studio using an SSH-tunnel? It is important for me to be able to access the database from my local machine (for debugging, generating LINQ classes, editing tables, etc). Or, how should I go about working with their database?

  I have 2 asp.net web applications running in IIS7: http://app1.local/ and http://app2.local/ My host.ini file just maps the above urls to localhost: ::1 app1.local ::1 app2.local I added the same machine key to both their web.config's. When I sign into app2, and then go to app1, the call to Request.IsAuthenticated is false? Should this work?

  I have installed both windows XP as well as Ubuntu 9.04 on my machine.I can choose between them using dual boot option at the startup.Up to this, it is fine. But unfortunately when my XP crashes, I need to install XP again.But when I do it,after installing XP successfully, dual boot option no longer appears at the startup. So the Ubuntu goes in vein.   I can't run a debug sdk application because it requires both VC 8 and VC 9 versions of the CRT. But it only requires visual studio 2008 for plugin dev, which is what I need. How do I install the debug runtimes from 2005 on to a Windows7 machine? I can't figure out how to make them run app local nor can I copy anything into the winSxS folder without a trusted installer.

  We have a standalone java swing app, in which the user can print something that he drew, on a printer by giving its IP. Now the requirement is that the app needs to remember the ip that was given the last time by this user. What I could think of till now is (a brute one though) - keep a log file kind of storage on the client machine, and that everytime the app comes up it reads the last submitted one. When we install the application on Windows 2008 server we get the following error while trying to open crystal report in excel format Error is : Error in File :"....rpt" Error detected by export DLL. The report opens up fine in PDF on server Opeing report in Excel works fine on my local(development) machine...But this error is thrown on server...
