  I'm doing the Rob Conery mvc storefront and at one place I'm suppose to get categories but I get an error with this linq query and I can not get why. • iPhone: Set the title of a UIButton with a single method invocation?

  I'd like to set the title of a UIButton via code. I find myself having to call -[UIButton setTitle:forState:] for UIControlStateNormal, UIControlStateHighlighted, UIControlStateDisabled, UIControlStateSelected. And that doesn't even take into account all of the combinations of these states together. Needless to say, this is tiresome. Is there a single call I can make that will set one string as the title for all of the states? (Since, I assume that in 95% of the cases, that's the desired behavior?)

• Intellisense in App_Code in VS2010

  Hi, I've just upgrade my web application from vs2008 to vs2010, I create a new web app from vs2010, then copy across all the existing files from vs2008, then I add a new class file to App_Code folder, the intellisense is not showing up for everything and class etc is also not color in the right color. However, when I open the existing class I created earlier from vs2008, intellisense just working fine and all classes are in different color as well, if I make a copy of existing class, the copied class does not support the intellisense as well. However, if I shut my VS, and reopen it, they all appear to be support with intellisense for existing class, but once I created a new class, intellisense is not support. Can you tell me what's wrong here? Thanks

  I'm attempting to compile Java 1.4 code that was created by IBM's WSDL2Java on Java5 without recreating the stubs and saw this error in Eclipse. I'm under the assumption that the stubs created should just compile as long as the runtime jars are available (they are). Access restriction: The type QName is not accessible due to restriction on required library C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_16\jre\lib\rt.jar The full classname is javax.xml.namespace.QName What exactly is going on here? Is this a case where I am trying to refactor a pig from sausage? Am I better off recreating the stubs?

  I have a question regarding setting up a custom delegate class for use with UITableView. What I have done is as follows: Setup a new class (in sperate *.h and *.m files for the class) Conformed that new class to the <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource> protocols Added the required methods. Created a pointer to the new object using @property and IBOutlet. In InterfaceBuilder created and assigned an object template to my new class Assigned the dataSource and delegate connections. This all works fine. My question is if I don't want to use interfaceBuilder to setup and instantiate my new delegate class directly in Xcode how do I go about doing that? More specifically how would I: Instantiate the delegate class, would that be created / owned by the controller? Set the dataSource and delegate connections? What is the best way of doing this? any help / information is much appreciated. Gary

• Does oneway declaration in Android .aidl guarantee that method will be called in a separate thread?

  I am designing a framework for a client/server application for Android phones. I am fairly new to both Java and Android (but not new to programming in general, or threaded programming in particular). Sometimes my server and client will be in the same process, and sometimes they will be in different processes, depending on the exact use case. The client and server interfaces look something like the following: IServer.aidl: package com.my.application; interface IServer { /** * Register client callback object */ void registerCallback( in IClient callbackObject ); /** * Do something and report back */ void doSomething( in String what ); . . . } IClient.aidl: package com.my.application; oneway interface IClient { /** * Receive an answer */ void reportBack( in String answer ); . . . } Now here is where it gets interesting. I can foresee use cases where the client calls IServer.doSomething(), which in turn calls IClient.reportBack(), and on the basis of what is reported back, IClient.reportBack() needs to issue another call to IClient.doSomething(). The issue here is that IServer.doSomething() will not, in general, be reentrant. That's OK, as long as IClient.reportBack() is always invoked in a new thread. In that case, I can make sure that the implementation of IServer.doSomething() is always synchronized appropriately so that the call from the new thread blocks until the first call returns. If everything works the way I think it does, then by declaring the IClient interface as oneway, I guarantee this to be the case. At least, I can't think of any way that the call from IServer.doSomething() to IClient.reportBack() can return immediately (what oneway is supposed to ensure), yet IClient.reportBack still be able to reinvoke IServer.doSomething recursively in the same thread. Either a new thread in IServer must be started, or else the old IServer thread can be re-used for the inner call to IServer.doSomething(), but only after the outer call to IServer.doSomething() has returned. So my question is, does everything work the way I think it does? The Android documentation hardly mentions oneway interfaces.

  Here's some code: Client client = new Client(Protocol.HTTP); client.setConnectTimeout(1); //milliseconds Response response = client.post(url, paramRepresentation); System.out.println("timed out"); What I would expect to happen is that it prints "timed out" before the resource has time to process. Instead, nothing happens with the timeout and it doesn't print "timed out" until after the resource returns. Even if I put a Thread.sleep(5000) at the resource that's handling the request, the entire sleep is performed, like the timeout did nothing. Anyone have experience with this? I'm using Restlet 1.1.1.   I am writing a basic function to convert millions of names (one time batch process) from their current form, which is all upper case, to a proper mixed case. I came up with the following so far: public string ConvertToProperNameCase(string input) { TextInfo textInfo = new CultureInfo("en-US", false).TextInfo; char[] chars = textInfo.ToTitleCase(input.ToLower()).ToCharArray(); for (int i = 0; i + 1 < chars.Length; i++) { if ((chars[i].Equals('\'')) || (chars[i].Equals('-'))) { chars[i + 1] = Char.ToUpper(chars[i + 1]); } } return new string(chars);; } It works in most cases such as: JOHN SMITH - John Smith SMITH, JOHN T - Smith, John T JOHN O'BRIAN - John O'Brian JOHN DOE-SMITH - John Doe-Smith There are some edge cases that do no work like: JASON MCDONALD - Jason Mcdonald (Correct: Jason McDonald) OSCAR DE LA HOYA - Oscar De La Hoya (Correct: Oscar de la Hoya) MARIE DIFRANCO - Marie Difranco (Correct: Marie DiFranco) These are not captured and I am not sure if I can handle all these odd edge cases. Can anyone think of anything I could change or add to capture more edge case? I am sure there are tons of edge cases I am not even thinking of as well. All casing should following North American conventions too meaning that if certain countries expect a specific capitalization format, and that differs from the North American format, then the North American format takes precedence.

• How do I hide an inherited __published property in the derived class in a VCL component?

  I have created a new VCL component based on an existing VCL component. What I want to do now is set the Password and Username properties from an ini file instead of the property inspector. Robert Dunn Link I read on the delphi forum above you cannot unpublish a property and that the only workaround is to redeclare the property as read-only. I tried this but it all it does is make the property read only and grayed out in the object inspector.   Hi All Im kind of new in the whole papervision scene. For a school assignment I'm making a panorama version of my own room using a cube with 6 pictures in it. It created the panorama, it works great. But now I want to add clickable objects in it. One of the requirements is that my code is OOP focused. So that's what I am trying right now. Currently I got two classes - Main.as (Here i make the panorama cube as the room) - photoWall.as (Here I want to create my first clickable object) Now my problem is: I want to addChild a clickable object from photoWall.as to my panorama room. But he doesn't show it? I think it has something to do with the scenes. I use a new scene in Main.as and in photoWall.as.   I am using Url.Action to generate a URL with two query parameters on a site that has a doctype of XHTML strict. Url.Action("ActionName", "ControllerName", new { paramA="1" paramB="2" }) generates: /ControllerName/ActionName/?paramA=1&paramB=2 but I need it to generate the url with the ampersand escaped: /ControllerName/ActionName/?paramA=1&amp;paramB=2 The fact that Url.Action is returning the URL with the ampersand not escaped breaks my HTML validation. My current solution is to just manually replace ampersand in the URL returned from Url.Action with an escaped ampersand. Is there a built in or better solution to this problem?

For GET method I am also sending additional query parameters as follows: [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "users")] [OperationContract] public bool CreateUserAccount(User user) { //do something return restult; } [WebGet(UriTemplate = "users?userid={userid}&username={userName}")] [OperationContract] public User GetUser(int userid, string userName) { // if User ID then // Get User By UserID //else if User Name then // Get User By User Name //if no paramter then do something } when I call CreateUserAccount with method POST it is working fine but when I call GetUser method using GET and sending only one query string parameter(userID or UserName) it is giving error "HTTP Method not allowed" but if send both parameters its wokrs fine. Can anyone help me?
