How would I match a space separated list of words followed by whitespace and some optional numbers? hi. creating a distributed crawling python app. it consists of a master server, and associated client apps that will run on client servers. the purpose of the client app is to run across a targeted site, to extract specific data. the clients need to go "deep" within the site, behind multiple levels of forms, so each client is specifically geared towards a given site. each client app looks something like main: parse initial url call function level1 (data1) function level1 (data) parse the url, for data1 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level2 (data) function level2 (data2) parse the url, for data2 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level3 function level3 (dat3) parse the url, for data3 use the required xpath to get the dom elements call the next function call level4 function level4 (data) parse the url, for data4 use the required xpath to get the dom elements at the final function.. --all the data output, and eventually returned to the server --at this point the data has elements from each function... my question: given that the number of calls that is made to the child function by the current function varies, i'm trying to figure out the best approach. each function essentialy fetches a page of content, and then parses the page using a number of different XPath expressions, combined with different regex expressions depending on the site/page. if i run a client on a single box, as a sequential process, it'll take awhile, but the load on the box is rather small. i've thought of attempting to implement the child functions as threads from the current function, but that could be a nightmare, as well as quickly bring the "box" to its knees! i've thought of breaking the app up in a manner that would allow the master to essentially pass packets to the client boxes, in a way to allow each client/function to be run directly from the master. this process requires a bit of rewrite, but it has a number of advantages. a bunch of redundancy, and speed. it would detect if a section of the process was crashing and restart from that point. but not sure if it would be any faster... i'm writing the parsing scripts in python.. so... any thoughts/comments would be appreciated... i can get into a great deal more detail, but didn't want to bore anyone!! thanks! tom

How can I use Code Contracts in a C++/CLI project?

I recently stumbled upon Code Contracts and have started using them in my C# projects. However, I also have a number of projects written in C++/CLI. For C# and VB, Code Contracts offer a handy configuration panel in the project properties dialog. For a C++/CLI project, there is no such panel. From the documentation, I got the impression that adding Code Contracts support to a C++/CLI project should be a simple matter of calling some external tools as part of the build process (namely ccrefgen.exe, cccheck.exe, and ccrewrite.exe). However, the number of command line options and restrictions concerning the call sequence have me somewhat intimidated. Can anybody point me to a simple way to run the Code Contracts tools as an automated part of the build process in Visual Studio?

I want to change the variable value based on the number of clicks. So if you click the button once, the cCount should equal 1 and twice it should equal 2. Right now all I'm returning for the value is 0, no matter the amount of clicks. How is schoolbook long division an O(n^2) algorithm?

Premise: This Wikipedia page suggests that the computational complexity of Schoolbook long division is O(n^2). Deduction: Instead of taking "Two n-digit numbers", if I take one n-digit number and one m-digit number, then the complexity would be O(n*m). Contradiction: Suppose you divide 100000000 (n digits) by 1000 (m digits), you get 100000, which takes six steps to arrive at. Now, if you divide 100000000 (n digits) by 10000 (m digits), you get 10000 . Now this takes only five steps. Conclusion: So, it seems that the order of computation should be something like O(n/m). Question: Who is wrong, me or Wikipedia, and where?

Hello, I need to subtract 0.5 from number a and set the answer to number b. My code looks like it would work but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The error I get Is on the subtraction line, the error says incompatible type for argument 1 of 'decimalNumberBySubtracting:'. appending to cursor in oracle

I asked a question yesterday which got answers but didnt answer the main point. I wanted to reduce amount of time it took to do a MINUS operation. Now, I'm thinking about doing MINUS operation in blocks of 5000, appending each iterations results to the cursor and finally returning the cursor. Why is there a limit of max 20 parameters to a clojure function

Hi, there seems to be a limit to the number of parameters a clojure function can take. When defining a function with more than 20 parameters I receive the following: Obviously this can be avoided, but I was hitting this limit porting the execution model of an existing DSL to clojure, and I have constructs in my DSL like the following, which by macro expansion can be mapped to functions quite easily except for this limit: (defAlias nn1 ((element ?e1) (element ?e2)) number "@doc features of the elements are calculated for entry into the first neural network, the result is the score computed by the latter" (nn1-recall (nn1-feature00 ?e1 ?e2) (nn1-feature01 ?e1 ?e2) ... (nn1-feature89 ?e1 ?e2))) which is a DSL statement to call a neural network with 90 input nodes. Can work around it of course, but was wondering where the limit comes from. Thanks.

I'm writing a script to display the 10 most recently "active" WordPress blog posts (i.e. those with the most recent comments). Problem is, the list has a lot of duplicates. I'd like to weed out the duplicates. Is there an easy way to do this by changing the MySQL query (like IGNORE, WHERE) or some other means? Objective c string formatter for distances

I have a distance as a float and I'm looking for a way to format it nicely for human readers. Ideally, I'd like it to change from m to km as it gets bigger, and to round the number nicely. Converting to miles would be a bonus. I'm sure many people have had a need for one of these and I'm hoping that there's some code floating around somewhere. Here's how I'd like the formats: 0-100m: 47m (as a whole number) 100-1000m: 325m or 320m (round to the nearest 5 or 10 meters) 1000-10000m: 1.2km (round to nearest with one decimal place) 10000m +: 21km If there's no code available, how can I write my own formatter? I am tying to merging web application(gwt, jpa) to an separate 2 application(business login in ejb/jpa and web client in gwt). Currently i can`t inject my beans from web application (simple servlet) I am using glassfish v3. module limbo(ejb jar) is in dependency of module lust (war). If I use lust with compiler output of limbo everything work perfect (if ejb in web application and the are deploying together as one application). Have I messed some container configuration ? Looking for design/architecture suggestions for a simple HTML game.

Imagine that HTML page is a game surface (see picture). User can have n number of boards (blue divs) on his page. Each board can be moved, re-sized, relabeled, created new and removed. Inside each board there are m number of figures (purple divs). Each of these user can move inside the board or to another board, re-size, change color and label, delete, add new. The goal of the game is not important, but let's say it is to rearrange figures in a certain way so that they disappear. But the goal of the programmer is to save the whole game surface in the database for every user of the site, and to load it later when he returns. So, how do I go about data exchange between client and the database? I'll give my idea in one of the answers.

As part of a larger regex I would like to match the following restrictions: The string has 11 digits All digits are numbers Within the first 10 digits one number [0-9] (and one only!) must be listed twice This means the following should match: 12345678914 12235879600 Whereas these should not: 12345678903 -> none of the numbers at digits 1 to 10 appears twice 14427823482 -> one number appears more than twice 72349121762 -> two numbers appear twice I have tried to use a lookahead, but all I'm managing is that the regex counts a certain digit, i.e.: (?!.*0\1{2}) That does not do what I need. Is my query even possible with regex?

How can I create a javascript library in a separate file and "include" it in another?

First, a caveat. The main script is not run in a webpage. I will be running the .js file in Windows using Windows Script Host. The problem: I would like to create a javascript "library" containing a number of objects, each with a number of functions. I expect this library will get rather large with time and would like to keep it in a separate javascript file (let's call it Library.js). I would like to access the objects from Library.js from another script (let's call this one User.js). In essence, I am looking for something similar to the C/C++ "include" paradigm. Is there anyway to implement this in javascript? (Remember, this is not web-based)

I have two buttons "add Row", "Del Row" and I have some records displayed from db. when ever "add row" is clicked a new record, row header should be added to JTable with an auto increment number displayed in sequential order to the JTable Row Header. During deletion using "Del row " button the record has to be deleted & not its corresponding header so that next rows got updated to the previous headers & the auto increment number remain unchanged and always be in sequence. please help me on this regard. I want to write a function that geometrically links performance data which is usually provided as percentages, so the function will basically return (1+a)*(1+b)*(1+c)* … *(1+x)-1 This should be done using LibreOffice-calc and it should behave similarly to the regular sum function. As you may throw any number of arguments at sum I would like to be able to do the same with my alternative geoSum function but I am unable to find suitable documentation on handling a variable number of arguments with variable types (i.e. an arbitrary mix of numbers, cells and ranges). How would I have to specify the arguments to my LibreOffice-Basic function and how would I have to interpret it?

PHP mySQL database check

Hi guys, I am having endless troubles with duplicate entries, so I need to check the database, and if a user has already entered that day, their entry will not be submitted and they will be redirected to a landing page that tells them they have already entered that day, and that they may only enter again tomorrow. The field I would like to check is the id_number field in the database, since each user has a unique id number, so basically, if a user with the same id number submitted on the same date they should be redirected to a landing page, how would I go about doing this? I am still new to a lot of this, so please be forgiving. Thanx in advance.

Would someone mind giving suggestions for this new assembly language?

Greetings! Last semester in college, my teacher in the Computer Languages class taught us the esoteric language named Whitespace. In the interest of learning the language better with a very busy schedule (midterms), I wrote an interpreter and assembler in Python. An assembly language was designed to facilitate writing programs easily, and a sample program was written with the given assembly mnemonics. Now that it is summer, a new project has begun with the objective being to rewrite the interpreter and assembler for Whitespace 0.3, with further developments coming afterwards. Since there is so much extra time than before to work on its design, you are presented here with an outline that provides a revised set of mnemonics for the assembly language. This post is marked as a wiki for their discussion. Have you ever had any experience with assembly languages in the past? Were there some instructions that you thought should have been renamed to something different? Did you find yourself thinking outside the box and with a different paradigm than in which the mnemonics were named? If you can answer yes to any of those questions, you are most welcome here. More specific NSNumberFormatter failure behaviour

I have an NSTextField into which I need the user to enter a number between a max and min, and it would be nice if I could detect when the NSNumberFormatter fails that particular test so I can either display a nicer message ("The number is too large" is not very helpful, it needs to display the valid range) or simply set the field automatically to the nearest valid value. I've looked at the NSTextField delegate's -control:didFailToFormatString:errorDescription: method which doesn't seem to allow you to modify the error, and I've looked at overriding the NSNumberFormatter's -getObjectValue:forString:range:error: method which does give me an NSError that I can modify, but there doesn't seem to be any way to determine which specific error was returned. Since I am just entering a simple integer, I don't need most of the functionality in NSNumberFormatter, would I be better off just writing my own formatter from scratch?

Regular Expressions, Checking for a range of occurrences

I have a phone number I want to match against a regular expression. The format of the phone number must match this: (123) 123-4567 x12345 The extension is optional. Also the extension must contain 1-5 numbers. Below is a regular expression I wrote that works. ^\(\d{3}\) \d{3}-\d{4}( x\d\d?\d?\d?\d?)?$ I was wondering if there is a better way to check for the extension instead of x\d\d?\d?\d?\d? Can I say 1-5 occurrences of \d instead of the above some how ?

XSLT Sort Alphabetically & Numerically Problem

I have a group of strings ie g:lines = '9,1,306,LUCY,G,89' I need the output to be: 1,9,89,306,G,LUCY This is my current code: <xsl:for-each select="$all_alerts[g:problem!='normal_service'][g:service='bus']"> <xsl:sort select="g:line"/> <xsl:sort select="number(g:line)" data-type="number"/> <xsl:value-of select="normalize-space(g:line)" /><xsl:text/> <xsl:if test="position()!=last()"><xsl:text>, </xsl:text></xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> I can get it to only display '1, 12, 306, 38, 9, G, LUCY' because the 2nd sort isn't being picked up. Anyone able help me out?
