  • how to properly display utf encoded characters on my utf-8 encoded page?

    Hi guys I'm retrieving emails and some of my emails have utf encoded text. However even though my page is encoded as utf 8 - in some places when I try to out put utf text I get funny characters like : =?utf-8?B?Rlc6INqp24zYpyDYotm+INin2LMg2YXYs9qp2LHYp9uB2bkg2qnbjCDZhtmC?= =?utf-8?B?2YQg2qnYsdiz2qnYqtuSINuB24zaug==?= Whereas in other areas of the same page it displays fine. WHats going on?

    What is a positions of SQLCE 3.5 when running on Windows Mobile 6.0 in relation to FIPS compliance. I have read lots of differing reports on this and need a definitive answer, one which comes from a reliable source (please provide links) I have read this "The encryption modes in SQL Server Compact 3.5 are FIPS complaint if FIPS mode is enabled at the OS level." Is this true? if so how does one enable it at the OS level.

  • ASP.NET application using old connection string.

    I am trying to publish a website using ASP.NET MVC3 EF and CODEFIRST with a SQL Server 2008 backend. On my local machine I was using a sql express db for development, but now that I am pushing live, I want to use my hosted production database. The problem is that when I try to run the application, it is still using my local db connection string. I have completely removed the old connection string from my web.config file and am using the <clear /> tag before creating the new connection string. I have also cleaned the solution and rebuilt, but somehow it is still connecting to the old db. What am I missing? This is the new connection string: <connectionStrings> <clear /> <add name="CellularAutomataDBContext" connectionString=" Server=XXX; Database=CellularAutomata; User ID=XXX; Password=XXX; Trusted_Connection=False" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings>

  • Zend: Fetching row from session db table after generating session id

    Hi, I'm trying to update the session table used by Zend_Session_SaveHandler_DbTable directly after authenticating the user and writing the session to the DB. But I can neither update nor fetch the newly inserted row, even though the session id I use to check (Zend_Session::getId()) is valid and the row is indeed inserted into the table. Upon fetching all session ids (on the same request) the one I newly inserted is missing from the results. It does appear in the results if I fetch it with something else. I've checked whether it is a problem with transactions and that does not seem to be the problem - there is no active transaction when I'm fetching the results. I've also tried fetching a few seconds after writing using sleep(), which doesn't help. $auth->getStorage()->write($ident); //sleep(1) $update = $this->db->update('session', array('uid' => $ident->user_id), 'id='.$this->db->quote(Zend_Session::getId())); $qload = 'SELECT id FROM session'; $load = $this->db->fetchAll($qload); echo $qload; print_r($load); $update fails. $load doesn't contain the row that was written with $auth-getStorage()-write($identity). $qload does contain the correct query - copying it to somewhere else leads to the expected result, that is the inserted row is included in the results. Database used is MySQL - InnoDB. If someone knows how to directly fix this (i.e. on the same request, not doing something like updating after redirecting to another page) without modifying Zend_Session_SaveHandler_DbTable: Thank you very much!

    Hello Experts, Application : I am working on one mid-large size application which will be used as a product, we need to decide on our DAL layer. Application UI is in Silverlight and DAL layer is going to be behind service layer. We are also moving ahead with domain model, so our DB tables and domain classes are not having same structure. So patterns like Data Mapper and Repository will definitely come into picture. I need to design DAL Layer considering below mentioned factors in priority manner Speed of Development with above average performance Maintenance Future support and stability of the technology Performance Limitation : 1) As we need to strictly go ahead with microsoft, we can not use NHibernate or any other ORM except EF 4.0 2) We can use any code generation tool (Should be Open source or very cheap) but it should only generate code in .Net, so there would not be any licensing issue on per copy basis. Questions I read so many articles about EF 4.0, on outset it looks like that it is still lacking in features from NHibernate but it is considerably better then EF 1.0 So, Do you people feel that we should go ahead with EF 4.0 or we should stick to ADO .Net and use any code geneartion tool like code smith or any other you feel best Also i need to answer questions like what time it will take to port application from EF 4.0 to ADO .Net if in future we stuck up with EF 4.0 for some features or we are having serious performance issue. In reverse case if we go ahead and choose ADO .Net then what time it will take to swith to EF 4.0 Lastly..as i was going through the article i found the code only approach (with POCO classes) seems to be best suited for our requirement as switching is really easy from one technology to other. Please share your thoughts on the same and please guide on the above questions

  • Zend Layout and Bootstrapping

    So i'm using the standard Zend Layout for my site. I have a number of custom controllers and views, and the content of these pages is displayed, but the details in the head element of the layout.phtml are not shown. Do i need to manually associate the Zend_Layout with each specific controller?. I expected since the layout is loaded via the bootstrap this should be available for free.   • Getting the first result from a LINQ query - why does ElementAt<T>(0) fails when First<T>() succeeds

    I have a method AddStudent() which looks for a student with the same name and returns an existing student from the database if there is a student with the same name, otherwise it creates a new student and adds it to the database. I'm curious why se = students.First<StudentEntity>(); succeeds when se = students.ElementAt<StudentEntity>(0); fails when I try to get the first result from the LINQ query. Aren't the two methods the same? But Zend Soap Client tries to directly connect it.   • SqlCe odd results why? -- Same SQL, different results in different apps. Issue with

    When I run this SQl in my mobile app I get zero rows. select * from inventory WHERE [ITEMNUM] LIKE 'PUMP%' AND [LOCATION] = 'GARAGE' When I run the same SQL in Query Analyzer 3.5 using the same database I get my expected one row. Why the difference? Here is the code I'm using in the mobile app: SqlCeCommand cmd = new SqlCeCommand(Query); cmd.Connection = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source="+filePath+";Persist Security Info=False;"); DataTable tmpTable = new DataTable(); cmd.Connection.Open(); SqlCeDataReader tmpRdr = cmd.ExecuteReader(); if (tmpRdr.Read()) tmpTable.Load(tmpRdr); tmpRdr.Close(); cmd.Connection.Close(); return tmpTable; UPDATE: For the sake of trying I used the code found in one of the answers found here and it works as expected. So my code looks like this: SqlCeConnection conn = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=" + filePath + ";Persist Security Info=False;"); DataTable tmpTable = new DataTable(); SqlCeDataAdapter AD = new SqlCeDataAdapter(Query, conn); AD.Fill(tmpTable); The issue appears to be with the SqlCeDataReader. I thought something like: IQueryable<DAL.TEACHER> teacher = School.Select(x=>x.PERSON) as IQueryable<DAL.TEACHER>; ...but it does not. Am I misunderstanding the .Select()?

  • Stop propagating deletes

    Is it just me or is anyone else finding EF very difficult to use in a real app :( I'm using it as the data layer and have created custom business objects. I'm having difficulty converting the business objects back to EF objects and updating/adding/deleting from the database. Does anyone know a good, simple example of doing this? Actually the current problem that's driving me nuts is when I delete something EF tries to delete other related stuff as well. For example, if I delete an invoice it will also delete the associated customer! Seems odd. I can't figure out how to stop it doing this. // tried: invoiceEfData.CustomerReference = null; // also tried invoiceEfData.Customer = null; context.DeleteObject(invoiceEfData); context.SaveChanges(); // at this point I get a database error due to it attempting to delete the customer

    In PHP curl there are two functions used to ignore all SSL errors (invalid cert, self signed, expired, so on): curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false); I am switching over to use Zend_Http_Client, but I can't seem to find a way to force it to ignore errors.
