  • Forefront TMG vs pfSense

    We currently run pfSense with no problems, however we are looking at TMG as it is included in our partner subscription to MS and allows Windows 7 DirectConnect features to our domain for off-site users. I have had a google, but there don't seem to be any comparisons of TMG to pfSense. Anyone have experience/knowledge of this? Our infrastructure is Windows Server 2008 R2 behind pfSense at the moment.

    Oracle Application Server Performance Monitoring and Tuning (CPU load high) i have just hired by a company and my boss give me a performance issue to solve as soon as possible. I don't have any experience with the Java EE before at the server side. Let me begin what i learned about the system and still couldn't find the solution: We have an Oracle Application Server (10.1.) and Oracle Database server (9.2.), the software guys wrote a kind of big J2EE project (X project) using specifically JSF 1.2 with Ajax which is only used in this project. They actively use PL/SQL in their code. So, we started the application server (Solaris machine), everything seems OK. users start using the app starting Monday from different locations (app 200 have user accounts,i just checked and see that the connection pool is set right, the session are active only 15 minutes). After sometime (2 days) CPU utilization gets high,%60, at night it is still same nothing changed (the online user amount is nearly 1 or 2 at this time), even it starts using the CPU allocated for other applications on the same server because they freed If we don't restart the server, the utilization becomes %90 following 2 days, application is so slow that end users starts calling. The main problem is software engineers say that code is clear, and the System and DBA managers say that we have the correct configuration,the other applications seems OK why this problem happens only for X application. I start copying the DB to a test platform and upgrade it to the latest version, also did in same with the application server (Weblogic) if there is a bug or not. i only tested by myself only one user and weblogic admin panel i can track the threads and dump them. i noticed that there are some threads showing as a hogging. when i checked the manuals and control the trace i see that it directs me the line number where PL/SQL code is called from a .java file. The software eng. says that yes we have really complex PL/SQL codes but what's the relation with Application server? this is the problem of DB server, i guess they're right... I know the question has many holes, i'd like to give more in detail but i appreciate the way you guide me. Thanks in advance ...   • Httpd + Expect Script Fail (no more ptys) if httpd is not run through cli

    I have a CentOS virtual server through Vmware. The server runs an httpd daemon which serves an php page with a form. The users complete the form, and by clicking submit the php page calls an expect scripts. If i run the httpd throught the default init.d script i get a "no more ptys" error, but if i run httpd through root terminal the script runs without problems. How can i make the httpd run the expect scripts without having to run the httpd daemon by hand.

I tried using db_dump (Berkeley DB) for the .db files, but it seems that they are not Berkeley DB, or of an older version. I have no idea what the .PMP files are.     Howdy, I am looking to deploy LogMeIn to several clients. I am using LogMeIn Central with LogMeIn free. Central allows me to create an install URL to send to a client, but I want to create a GPO to deploy the LogMeIn to the entire domain of computers. None of the local users have local Admin rights to their workstations, which is why I want to deploy LogMeIn through AD instead of installing via the Deployment Link. Thank you, Keith

    We have a restricted Windows 7 computer that hides and prevents non-admin users from accessing the C Drive. However, they are able to circumvent this by typing the following into Explorer: \\localhost\C$ How can I disable this path but allow other UNC paths. For example they are allowed to access a shared folder on a different computer. eg. \\192.168.2.1\SharedTransfer Note: Simply Enabling the Group Policy: Remove Run menu from Start Menu will not work as this blocks all UNC paths.

  • Can't clone gitosis-admin.git local from my snow leopard server running gitosis

    I've installed gitosis as described here: http://gist.github.com/264304 One of the things that I had to adjust was to give my git user permissions to use ssh (which I did trough server admin - access - ssh and added the 'git' user). When I ssh from my local machine (mac osx) as the git user, I get this response: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 bash: gitosis-serve: command not found Connection to 10.0.0.108 closed. Which I think is normal, because in Pro GIT the author says you should get something like this if you try ssh'ing to the server using your git user: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 fatal: unrecognized command 'gitosis-serve schacon@quaternion' Connection to gitserver closed. So far so good, I think? Now when I try to clone my gitosis-admin.git repository using this command: $git clone [email protected]:gitosis-admin.git I get this: Initialized empty Git repository in /Users/joggink/gitosis-admin/.git/ bash: gitosis-serve: command not found fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly So after doing some searching, I found an answer here on serverfault claiming I should use ssh:// as protocol for my git clone (which I thought is the default git protocol?)   • Redirect request from https domain to https subdomain with only one certificate

    I'm trying to redirect users to a subdomain in server2 if they make an https request to server1. I only have one certificate, and that's installed on server2. So for instance, from (server1) https://www.example.com to (server2) https://ssl.example.com My best guess is that I will need a certificate for https://www.example.com as the hostname is encrypted inside the HTTP header so my server won't know to redirect until it's decrypted. However, I'm curious if this is possible without two certificates?

    Is there a way to automatically deploy .net 4 using Active Directory group policy or WSUS? I want to push it out to lots of machines without having to go around to each one. Background: I have a VSTO ClickOnce application I want to deploy to non-admin users, but it uses .net 4, which won't install without admin rights, so ClickOnce fails for non-admins unless .net 4 is already installed.

    I am trying to create a hardlink on my C drive that points to a file on my D drive. I open up a terminal with Administrator privileges and try the following: C:\Users\sandro>mklink /H _vimrc D:\sandro-desktop\.vimrc The error that I get is: The system cannot move the file to a different disk drive. When I try a softlink I get the issue that for some reason changes to the link contents aren't reflected on the targeted file. Thank you!

  • What is the difference between Anycast and GeoDNS / GeoIP wrt HA?

    Based on the Wikipedia description of Anycast, it includes both the distribution of a domain-name-to-many-IP-mapping across many DNS servers as well as replying to clients with the most geographically close (or fastest) server. In the context of a globally distributed, highly available site like google.com (or any CDN service with many global edge locations) this sounds like the two key features one would need. DNS services like Amazon's Route53, EasyDNS and DNSMadeEasy all advertise themselves as Anycast-enabled networks. Therefore my assumption is that each of these DNS services transparently offer me those two killer features: multi-IP-to-domain mapping AND routing clients to the closest node. However, each of these services seem to separate out these two functionalities, referring to the 2nd one (routing clients to closest node) as "GeoDNS", "GeoIP" or "Global Traffic Director" and charge extra for the service. If a core tenant of an Anycast-capable system is to already do this, why is this functionality being earmarked as this extra feature? What is this "GeoDNS" feature doing that a standard Anycast DNS service won't do (according to the definition of Anycast from Wikipedia -- I understand what is being advertised, just not why it isn't implied already). I get extra-confused when a DNS service like Route53 that doesn't support this nebulous "GeoDNS" feature lists functionality like: Fast – Using a global anycast network of DNS servers around the world, Route 53 is designed to automatically route your users to the optimal location depending on network conditions. As a result, the service offers low query latency for your end users, as well as low update latency for your DNS record management needs. ... which sounds exactly like what GeoDNS is intended to do, but geographically directing clients is something they explicitly don't support it yet. Ultimately I am looking for the two following features from a DNS provider: Map multiple IP addresses to a single domain name (like google.com, amazon.com, etc. does) Utilize a DNS service that will respond to client requests for that domain with the IP address of the nearest server to the requestee. As mentioned, it seems like this is all part of an "Anycast" DNS service (all of which these services are), but the features and marketing I see from them suggest otherwise, making me think I need to learn a bit more about how DNS works before making a deployment choice.     I used to love Bugmenot...but then they started blocking more and more sites. Now I'd say a good 75% of the time I try to find logins on bugmenot, the site is blocked. Is there a service like bugmenot that doesn't block sites? EDIT: For example, all of these sites require registration to download files, and all of them are blocked from BugMeNot. To be clear, this problem is because BugMeNot stops users from adding logins for them, not because of the individual sites themselves: dcemu.co.uk, ubuntuforums.org, club.cdfreaks.com

I know I can use SSL to be able to use encrypted password authentication, however this has been deprecated by the OpenLDAP developers, see: http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/605.html I would like to know if there is a way to configure LDAP authentication in Teamcity to use TLS on port 389.
