Reason for this is that you can't override variables whereas you can do so for methods. This happens because type of the reference variable is checked when a variable is accessed and type of the object is checked when a method is accessed. But I am wondering, just why is it that way? For me, customer experience is a customer-centric worldview that produces a deeper understanding of your business and what it takes to achieve sustainable, differentiated success. It requires you to prioritize and examine the journey your customers are on with your brand, so you can answer the question, "How can we drive greater value for our business by delivering a better customer experience?" Businesses that embrace a customer-centric worldview understand their business at a much deeper level than most. They know who their customers are, what their value is, what they do, what they say, what they want, and ultimately what that means to their business. "Why Isn't Everyone Doing It?" We're all consumers who have our own experiences with many brands. Good or bad, some of those experiences stay with us. So viscerally we understand the concept of customer experience from the stories we share. One that stands out in my mind happened as I was preparing to leave for a 12-month job assignment in Europe. I wanted to put my cable television subscription on hold. I wasn't leaving for another vendor. I wasn't upset. I just had a situation where it made sense to put my $180 per month account on pause until I returned. Unfortunately, there was no way for this cable company to acknowledge that I was a loyal customer with a logical request - and to respond accordingly. So, ultimately, they lost my business. Research shows us that it costs six to seven times more to acquire a new customer than to retain an existing one. Heavily funding the efforts of getting new customers and underfunding the efforts of serving the needs of your existing (who are your greatest advocates) is a vicious and costly cycle. "Hey, These Guys Suck!" I love my Apple iPad because it's so easy to use. The explosion of these types of technologies, combined with new media channels, has raised our expectations and made us hyperaware of what's going on and what's available. In addition, social media has given us a megaphone to share experiences both positive and negative with greater impact. We are now an always-on culture that thrives on our ability to access, connect, and share anywhere anytime. If we don't get the service, product, or value we expect, it is easy to tell many people about it. We also can quickly learn where else to get what we want. Consumers have the power of influence and choice at a global scale. The businesses that understand this principle are able to leverage that power to their advantage. I'm after the math involved, and cannot find any good non-marketing stuff on the web. The sort of questions I want to answer: how much impact does a single variable (e.g. color of text) have? what is the correlation between variables? what type of distribution is used for modelling (Gaussian, Binomial, etc.)? When using statistics to analyze results - what should be considered as a random variable - the web-page element that gets different variations or the binary conversion-or-no-conversion outcome of an impression? There's plenty of information about different website optimization testing methods and their benefits\pitfalls, plenty of information about multivariate statistics in general, do you guys know of resources that discuss statistics in this specific context of website optimization ? • OpenAM throwing 302 0 behind haproxy, nginx

  I'm having some issues with my deployment and was wondering if you can help. My set up is as follows: 2 OpenAM servers are set up behind a load balancer (HAproxy). The load balancer is set up behind two reverse proxies (nginx). The two reverse proxies are ser up behind another load balancer (haproxy). So a request will go through Haproxy nginx Haproxy openam I can access the OpenAM web console through the reverse proxies without a problem. Everything works fine at this level. However when I access openam through the load balancer in front of the reverse proxies Openam throws a 302 error. The funny thing is however I can access the host/openam/UI/Login and login successfully. I even get the cookie and have access to my apps that are set up. However immediately after the login OpenAM throws a 302 redirect. I'm puzzled and cannot figure out what is going wrong. Does anyone have any idea?   Hi, I am an experienced developer but I am new to web application development. Now I am in charge of developing a new web application and I could really use some input from experienced web developers out there. I'd like to understand exactly what experienced web developers do in the code-behind pages. At first I thought it was best to have a rule that all the database access and business logic should be performed in classes external to the code-behind pages. My thought was that only logic necessary for the web form would be performed in the code-behind. I still think that all the business logic should be performed in other classes but I'm beginning to think it would be alright if the code-behind had access to the database to query it directly rather than having to call other classes to receive a dataset or collection back. Any input would be appreciated.

• NTLM Authentication fails when behind Proxy server

  Hi All, I've seen a number of post about consuming Web Services from behind a proxy server, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. I know from the Java docs that On Microsoft Windows platforms, NTLM authentication attempts to acquire the user credentials from the system without prompting the user's authenticator object. If these credentials are not accepted by the server then the user's authenticator will be called. Given that my Authentication code is called only ones, and only as the 5th attempt, it appears as if the connection is dropped when behind the proxy server before my Authentication object is used. Is there any way I can control the behavior of Authentication module, to not have it use the system credentials? • Linux servers seeing bad download performance behind Sonicwall firewall

  I'm working with a pair of co-located CentOS Linux servers sitting behind a Sonicwall PRO 2040 Enhanced firewall running in transparent bridge mode. These servers are having a strange problem downloading files more than a few megabytes in size. For example, if I try to wget or FTP a copy of the Linux kernel from kernel.org, the first ~1-2MB will download at 600+K/s, and then throughput will drop off a cliff to 1K/s. I've reviewed all the firewall configuration settings for anything suspicious, but found nothing. More interestingly, I performed the same download with a Windows server sitting behind the same firewall, and it sailed right through at 600+K/s the whole way. Has anyone seen this? Where should I start looking to troubleshoot this problem?

  My company has a JBoss cluster sitting behind a firewall that performs NAT. We forward ports to JBoss from the firewall, so that our client application can access the server. We are having trouble when JBoss replies it tells the clients to connect to the internal hostname, not the external one with which the initial connection was made. • VPN Error 619: Behind Cisco Router WRT310N

  I've researched a lot on all the forums and this error is too generic for any of the proposed solutions to work. I'll try to give as much detail and tried solutions. I'm running a CentOS PPTP server behind a Cisco WRT310N Router. Multiple clients from outside with different OS have failed with the same error 619, along with turning off windows firewall and disabling antivirus. I believe this is a router and IP routing issue, and not a client issue. When I connect from a client on the same router as the VPN server, it works when I use the 192. network address- but doesn't work with the public IP address. I've tried telnet to port 1723 from an outside server and I get in. I've opened up the VPN port (1723) on the router, VPN udp port (500), and the GRE port (47) to route to the VPN server's ip. Also, the server's router is behind a DSL modem. I had a glimmer of hope when this site: http://www.chicagotech.net/casestudy/vpnerror619.htm suggested that the PPoE authentication should reside on the router and not the modem. But I still came up empty. So does anybody know what the problem is?

  I want to host some websites behind a VPN and I need some help with the finer points of the configuration. Thus far I've settled on OpenVPN + Bind9 and I want to configure the domains like this: External DNS mail.example.com www.example.com vpn.example.com I want to be able to connect to the vpn using 'vpn.example.com'. Once connected I then want to be able to resolve anything which is '*.vpn.example.com' with the DNS server sitting behind the VPN. I know that OpenVPN can push DNS servers to clients when they connect. I am having trouble though with the DNS config, both internal and external. I've gone through a few tutorials etc. and tried to reason about it myself but I'm not getting anywhere. So my main question would be does the above configuration make sense? If so, any general pointers or examples would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I've tried so far based on this tutorial (I've redacted my domain with example.com). When I try the tests with dig at the end to check the resolution is working it fails. db.vpn.example.com $TTL 15m vpn.example.com. IN SOA ns.vpn.example.com. [email protected]. • Mac Mini server (10.6) behind router with FQDN hostname

  I have a Mac Mini running Mac OS 10.6.6 Server that will be part of a local network, and a static IP from my ISP. I'd like to set up DNS for the Mini with a FQDN as the hostname (example.com) properly. The Mini is behind a router (Apple Airport Extreme) and is given a private, static IP address. I can't assign it the public static IP directly because it's behind a router with DHCP/NAT for other machines on the local net. My end goal here is for services to resolve to the server properly from outside and inside the local network to users via example.com (and subdomains like mail.example.com, www.example.com), which will point to the public static IP assigned to the router. Will DNS work/resolve properly (for mail services and other subdomains) if it has a private ip address, but the necessary services are forwarded properly through NAT? I'm open to any (hopefully better) suggestions, as my current setup doesn't seem like it's the best way. Currently, more hardware or another public static IP is not possible. With the current setup, it seems as though one static IP is not necessary anyway. Thanks in advance for any insight.
