• Submit jQuery UI dialog on <Enter>

  I have a jQuery UI dialog box with a form. I would like to simulate a click on one of the dialog's buttons so you don't have to use the mouse or tab over to it. In other words, I want it to act like a regular GUI dialog box where simulates hitting the "OK" button. I assume this might be a simple option with the dialog, but I can't find it in the jQuery UI documentation. I could bind each form input with keyup() but didn't know if there was a simpler/cleaner way. Thanks.

• autocomplete issue with iScroll

  I am using jQuery Autocomplete on my jQUeryMobile application. It works perfect. Now I'm trying to use iScroll.js to scroll through the list of looked up items. Here is what I'am doing, http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/39/ The problem is, iscroll is applying only for the first item of the suggestion box, where as I'm not able to scroll through entire list.Please help me if I'm missing anything in my code.Please help me to acheive this using iScoll. I found one more way that we can use custom touch based scrollbar for autocomplete box http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/2/ but there is a issue that, the custom scrollbar appears only for first search and it disappears from the suggastion box when list get refreshed, Please suggest me if we can fix this, because both options are fine for me for using my autocomplete in ipad and android. or if anyone thinks there's a better way to do this than with iScroll and jScrollPane, you are wel-come I'm open to suggestions. • How do I output JSON columns in jQuery

  I'm using the qTip jQuery plugin to create dynamic tool tips. The tooltip sends an id to a cfc which runs a query and returns data in JSON format. • Stop jQuery animations stacking

  I have an Options box that hovers in the top right of the webpage. It's opacity is set to 10% so as not to be obstructive to users. When they hover over (mouseenter) it I use jQuery to fade it in and slidedown the content (and the reverse on mouseout). If they do this repeatedly though the animation stacks up and you can sometimes be left in a situation where your mouse is stood still but the box is yo-yoing around. How can I get around this situation? Here is how I currently setup the animations $("#dropdown").mouseenter(function() { $(this).fadeTo('fast',1); $("#options").slideDown(); }); $("#dropdown").mouseleave(function() { $(this).fadeTo('fast',0.1); $("#options").slideUp(); }); Note I am using jQuery only and not any other plugins.

• How does jQuery have asynchronous functions?

  I'm surprised I can't find a clear answer to this. So, in jQuery, you can do this: $(someElements).fadeOut(1000); $(someElements).remove(); Which, will start a fadeOut animation, but before it finishes executing in the 1 second duration, the elements are removed from the DOM. But how is this possible? I keep reading the JavaScript is single threaded. ( Is javascript guaranteed to be single-threaded? ) This question is not "How do I fix this?" I know I can do either: $(someElements).fadeOut(1000).promise().done(function() { $(someElements).remove();});, or even better:$(someElements).fadeOut(1000, function() { $(this).remove(); } ); What I don't understand is how JavaScript runs in a "single thread" but I'm able to use these jQuery functions that execute asynchronously and visibly see the DOM change in different places at the same time. How does it work?

  Hi, I'm migrating some old code to jquery: xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xmlHttp.readyState == 4) { $("#" + ajaxArea).html (xmlHttp.responseText); $("#" + ajaxArea).attr('title', 'Login'); $("#" + ajaxArea).dialog({ height : 140, modal : true }); } }; where ajaxArea is the ID of a DIV in the HTML. The dialog bit is basically adapted from the jQuery example here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal All of it works fine up until the last line. Firefox throws an error that simply says "$(" for that line. Anyone know what might be causing this?

• Why is this jquery dialog window not displaying?

  I've got a form that is using jquery validation. When the user clicks the submit button, I've got some jquery that intercepts the submit and should display a dialog window asking the user to verify the information they entered on the form. This dialog window should only display if the form has validated. Here is my code: $('#form').submit(function(){ fillVerificationDialog(); /* This loads up the dialog with form data */ if (('#form').valid()){ $('verification_dialog').dialog('open'); return false; } }); My dialog window is not displaying. It just submits the form. And I've verified that the form is valid by using an alert that checks the value of $('#form').valid() If I remove the if statement and just have the line that opens the dialog, the dialog displays. However, it will display even if the form has errors which is what I'm trying to prevent.

You can see it at work here: http://jsfiddle.net/fbonomi/wJWGV/ the header is added like this: function cComboboxOpen( event) { var s='.... header .....'; $("ul.ui-autocomplete[style*='block']").prepend(s); } it works, and it keeps the column-like form I need (the real data will also be in columns) BUT, I would like to have the header NOT scrolling away when you have a long, scrollable list (e.g if you type "a" in the list) I have seen another very similar question here: jQuery UI Autocomplete with fixed header But it hasn't been answered, and in its current form it does not work properly (the header is "fixed" even when one scrolls the page, for example) How can I avoid the header to scroll away?

  I am using jQuery 1.8.3 and jQuery UI 1.9.2. My web application has got some draggable elements and I would like to allow the user to select some text in the contained elements. I've seen there are some other questions on this topic. Another path I am following is use the right-click of the mouse and use some text-selection plug-in I have found. Still I can't make it work. It seems that draggable/sortable elements don't allow text selection or can intercept mouse (clicks) events. Any ideas? Regards.

• jQuery UI dialog positioning

  I am trying to use the jQuery dialog UI library in order to position a dialog next to some text when it is hovered over. The jQuery dialog takes a position parameter which is measured from the top left corner of the current viewport (in other words, [0, 0] will always put it in the upper left hand corner of your browser window, regardless of where you are currently scrolled to). However, the only way I know to retrieve the location is of the element relative to the ENTIRE page. The following is what I have currently. position.top is calculated to be something like 1200 or so, which puts the dialog well below the rest of the content on the page. $(".mytext").mouseover(function() { position = $(this).position(); $("#dialog").dialog('option', 'position', [position.top, position.left]); } How can I find the correct position?   As the jQuery API is currently down, is anyone able to assist me with the below? • Possible conflict with jquery libraries

  http://www.pro-marketing-invest.de/golz-racing/reservierungen I made a wp plugin which makes online reservations for rent a car but I tested it locally with a different wp theme and it worked fine! but when I installed it in this web site for some reason the jquery functions dont work! when I press the fortsetzen button it wont open the other step (its a form with 4 steps). I think it is because of the other jquery functions or libraries that the theme uses, I am frustrated I dont know what is causing this! Any ideas?

• Jquery UI Dialog Empty On Auto-Open

  I am having a somewhat strange error with my jquery dialog. When I have it autoopen, the dialog box is completely empty. If I exit out of the dialog and then reopen (through the standard dialog open event) the content appears. The jquery setup: $("#content_locker").dialog({ autoOpen: true, modal: true, height: 600, width: 800 }); Here you can see the webpage that I am working on (it is a link-shortening service). The dialog div starts on line 148 of the source: <div id="content_locker" title="Exclusive Content"> You will see that the dialog is empty. If you exit out and click on the unlock button, the proper html is there. Any ideas?

  If I create a JQuery widget (code example below), and then define a "public" method, is there any other way to call the method other than using the following form? $("#list").list("publicMethod"); I would like to create a series of widgets that all define the same methods (basically implementing the same interface), and be able to call the method without knowing anything about which widget I currently am invoking the method on. In the current form, I need to know that I am executing the method on the "list" widget. Below is an example of creating a widget with the "public" method. • Error starting JBoss 5.1.0

  I've installed JBoss 5.1.0 on a Xubuntu (running as a guest on VMWare - Windows 7 host). It did work fine for some days, but now I'm completelly unable to start it anymore. Every time I try to start it, I got a "Port 8x83 already in use". I've tried to run it with different ports configurations, and none of them works. I did look for the services using the problematic ports, using netstat and lsof, but they never show up. Since this error occurs in all port configurations, I think this is a Jboss problem. • Non-Dom Element Event Binding with jQuery

  Yesterday I had a short discussion with Dave Reed on Twitter regarding setting up fake ‘events’ on objects that are hookable. jQuery makes it real easy to bind events on DOM elements and with a little bit of extra work (that I didn’t know about) you can also set up binding to non-DOM element ‘event’ bindings. Assume for a second that you have a simple JavaScript object like this: var item = { sku: "wwhelp" , foo: function() { alert('orginal foo function'); } }; and you want to be notified when the foo function is called. You can use jQuery to bind the handler like this: $(item).bind("foo", function () { alert('foo Hook called'); } ); Binding alone won’t actually cause the handler to be triggered so when you call: item.foo(); you only get the ‘original’ message. In order to fire both the original handler and the bound event hook you have to use the .trigger() function: $(item).trigger("foo"); Now if you do the following complete sequence: var item = { sku: "wwhelp" , foo: function() { alert('orginal foo function'); } }; $(item).bind("foo", function () { alert('foo hook called'); } ); $(item).trigger("foo"); You’ll see the ‘hook’ message first followed by the ‘original’ message fired in succession. In other words, using this mechanism you can hook standard object functions and chain events to them in a way similar to the way you can do with DOM elements. The main difference is that the ‘event’ has to be explicitly triggered in order for this to happen rather than just calling the method directly. .trigger() relies on some internal logic that checks for event bindings on the object (attached via an expando property) which .trigger() searches for in its bound event list. Once the ‘event’ is found it’s called prior to execution of the original function. This is pretty useful as it allows you to create standard JavaScript objects that can act as event handlers and are effectively hookable without having to explicitly override event definitions with JavaScript function handlers. You get all the benefits of jQuery’s event methods including the ability to hook up multiple events to the same handler function and the ability to uniquely identify each specific event instance with post fix string names (ie. .bind("MyEvent.MyName") and .unbind("MyEvent.MyName") to bind MyEvent). Watch out for an .unbind() Bug Note that there appears to be a bug with .unbind() in jQuery that doesn’t reliably unbind an event and results in a elem.removeEventListener is not a function error. The following code demonstrates: var item = { sku: "wwhelp", foo: function () { alert('orginal foo function'); } }; $(item).bind("foo.first", function () { alert('foo hook called'); }); $(item).bind("foo.second", function () { alert('foo hook2 called'); }); $(item).trigger("foo"); setTimeout(function () { $(item).unbind("foo"); // $(item).unbind("foo.first"); // $(item).unbind("foo.second"); $(item).trigger("foo"); }, 3000); The setTimeout call delays the unbinding and is supposed to remove the event binding on the foo function. It fails both with the foo only value (both if assigned only as “foo” or “foo.first/second” as well as when removing both of the postfixed event handlers explicitly. Oddly the following that removes only one of the two handlers works: setTimeout(function () { //$(item).unbind("foo"); $(item).unbind("foo.first"); // $(item).unbind("foo.second"); $(item).trigger("foo"); }, 3000); this actually works which is weird as the code in unbind tries to unbind using a DOM method that doesn’t exist. <shrug> A partial workaround for unbinding all ‘foo’ events is the following: setTimeout(function () { $.event.special.foo = { teardown: function () { alert('teardown'); return true; } }; $(item).unbind("foo"); $(item).trigger("foo"); }, 3000); which is a bit cryptic to say the least but it seems to work more reliably. I can’t take credit for any of this – thanks to Dave Reed and Damien Edwards who pointed out some of these behaviors. I didn’t find any good descriptions of the process so thought it’d be good to write it down here. When I debug, I see the error being returned from the call is " Server Error in '/jQuerySample' Application. <h2> <i>HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.</i> </h2></span> " Looks like I'm missing something basic here. My sample is based on this I've been trying to fix the code for sometime now so I'd like you to take a look and see if you can figure out what is it that I'm doing wrong here. I'm able to see that the service is created when I browse the service in IE. I've also tried changing the setting as mentioned here Appreciate your help. • Form submitted via dialog opens dialog again

  I have a form in a jquerymobile dialog box that I am submitting via jQuery Ajax. Currently my problem is that once the form is submitted the same dialog box is opened again on top of the original dialogbox. So that my url reads before submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog and then after submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog#&ui-state=dialog&ui-state=dialog Has anyone ever encountered something like this before? • Get the id of the link and pass it to the jQueryUI dialog widget

  I'm using the dialog widget of jQueryUI.   How to prevent jQuery $('body').load('something.php'); from changing any DOM till all the content from something.php (including images,js) is fully loaded -Lets say some actual content is: Hello world And something.php content is: image that loads for 10 seconds 20 js plugins After firing .load() function nothing should happen, till images an js files are fully loaded, and THEN instantly change the content. some preloader may appear, but its not subject of question.
