  • AVAudioRecorder Won't Record On Device

    - by Dyldo42
This is my method: -(void) playOrRecord:(UIButton *)sender { if (playBool == YES) { NSError *error = nil; NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"%d", [sender tag]] ofType:@"caf"]; NSURL *fileUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filePath]; AVAudioPlayer *player = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:fileUrl error:&error]; [player setNumberOfLoops:0]; [player play]; } else if (playBool == NO) { if ([recorder isRecording]) { [recorder stop]; [nowRecording setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"NormalNormal.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nowRecording setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"NormalSelected.png"] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; } if (nowRecording == sender) { nowRecording = nil; return; } nowRecording = sender; NSError *error = nil; NSString *filePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"%d", [sender tag]] ofType:@"caf"]; NSURL *fileUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:filePath]; [sender setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"RecordingNormal.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [sender setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"RecordingSelected.png"] forState:UIControlStateSelected]; recorder = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:fileUrl settings:recordSettings error:&error]; [recorder record]; } } Most of it is self explanatory; playBool is a BOOL that is YES when it is in play mode. Everything works in the simulator however, when I run it on a device, [recorder record] returns NO. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

  • Getting EXC_BAD_ACCESS without any helpful msg from NSZombieEnabled

    - by nefsu
Hello guys. I'm a newbie to iphone development and I've been struggling with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error I got a couple of days ago. I'm basically taking the Stanford iphone class independently and I am trying to pass an array of NSManagedObjects to a TableViewController that's supposed to display them. The application launches in the simulator and displays the data in the tableView but it immediately errors out with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I followed instructions here and other places on how to use NSZombieEnabled to identify prematurely released objects but this one comes without any helpful msgs even with NSZombieEnabled. My guess is it must be caused by something trying to access unassigned memory that wasn't released through release/autorelease. Or else it would have been picked up as zombie object like the other errors I have been able to fix. I'm not a c expert but does that mean something like that could happen if I were to declare an object and send it a message without ever instantiating it? I looked through my code to see if I had anything like that and I came up empty. I have the stack trace in the debugger for this but I'm not sure how to make use of it. I'm a little frustrated because I can't use breakpoints in the code to narrow down the problem any further since it seems to happen after the app has finished loading. I thought the app would just stay idle if there was no possible user interaction. Is it failing at the tail end of the load where I can't easy see it or is jut doing stuff in the background after it's done loading. And I would much appreciate any tips on how to read the stacktrace for this. Thanks for the help guys.

  • presentModalViewController does not want to work when called from a protocol method

    - by johnbdh
I have a subview that when double tapped a protocol method on the subview's parent view controller is called like this... - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *theTouch = [touches anyObject]; if (theTouch.tapCount == 1) { } else if (theTouch.tapCount == 2) { if ([self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(editEvent:)]) { [self.delegate editEvent:dictionary]; } } } Here is the protocol method with the dictionary consuming code removed... - (void)editEvent:(NSDictionary){ EventEditViewController *eventEditViewController = [[EventEditViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"EventEditViewController" bundle:nil]; eventEditViewController.delegate = self; navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:eventEditViewController]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [eventEditViewController release]; } The protocol method is called and runs without any errors but the modal view does not present itself. I temporarily copied the protocol method's code to an IBAction method for one of the parent's view button's to isolate it from the subview. When I tap this button the modal view works fine. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Why does it work when executed from a button on the parent view, and not from a protocol method called from a subview. Here is what I have tried so far to work around the problem... Restarted xCode and the simulator Ran on the device (iTouch) Presenting eventEditViewController instead of navigationController Using Push instead of presentModal. delaying the call to the protocol with performSelector directly to the protocol, to another method in the subview which calls the protocol method, from the protocol method to another method with the presentModal calls. Using a timer. I have it currently setup so that the protocol method calls a known working method that presents a different view. Before calling presentModalViewController it pops a UIAlertView which works every time, but the modal view refuses to display when called via the protocol method. I'm stumped. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I am calling the protocol method from a UIView class instead of a UIViewController class. Maybe I need to create a UIViewController for the subView?? Thanks, John

  • video streaming over http in blackberry

    - by ysnky
hi all, while i was searching video player over http, i found the article which is located at this url; http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/Stream ing_media_-_Start_to_finish.html?nodeid=2456737&ve rnum=0 i can run by adding ";deviceside=true" at the end of url. it works fine in the jde4.5 simulator. it gets 3gp videos from my local server. i tested with 580kb files and works fine. but when i get the same file from my server (not local, real server) i have problems with big files (e.g 580 kb). it plays 180kb files (but sometimes it does not play this file either) but not plays 580kb file. and also i deployed my application to my 9000 device it sometimes plays small file (180kb) but never plays big file (580kb). why it plays if it is on my local file, not play in real world? i ve stucked for days. hope you help me. and also the code at the url given below is not work, the only code i ve found is the above. blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/How_To _-_Play_video_within_a_BlackBerry_smartphone_appli cation.html?nodeid=1383173&vernum=0 btw, there is no method such as resize(long param) of CircularByteBuffer class. so i comment relavent line (buffer.resize(buffer.getSize() + (buffer.getSize() * percent / 100)); as shown below. public void increaseBufferCapacity(int percent) { if(percent < 0){ log(0, "FAILED! • Monotouch or Titanium for rapid application development on IPhone?

    - by Ronnie
As a .Net developer I always dreamed for the possibility to develop with my existing skills (c#) applications for the Iphone. Both programs require a Mac and the Iphone Sdk installed. Appcelerator Titanium was the first app I tried and it is based on exposing some Iphone native api to javascript so that they can be called using that language. Monotouch starts at $399 for beeing able to deploy on the Iphone and not on the Iphone simulator while Titanium is free. Monotouch (Monodevelop) has an Ide that is currently missing in Titanium (but you can use any editor like Textmate, Aptana...) I think both program generate at the end a native precompiled app (also if I am not sure about the size of the final app on the Iphone as I think the .Net framework calls are prelilnked at compilation time in Monotouch). I am also not sure about the full coverage of all the Iphone api and features. Titanium has also the advantage to enable Android app development but as a c# developer I still find Monotouch experience more like the Visual Studio one. Witch one would you choose and what are your experiences on Monotouch and Titanium?

  • ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab) problem

    - by prathumca
Why the call to ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); is giving the problem? I have around 2000 contacts in my address book. When my app gets started I'm trying to read the entire address book. This works perfectly on simulator but causing crash on IPhone. The crash report is pointing to 9 AppSupport 0x31fbca1e 0x31fb6000 + 27166 // CPRecordStoreGetCountOfInstancesOfClassWhere + 0x7e 10 AddressBook 0x318df668 0x318d5000 + 42600 // ABCGetPersonCountInStore + 0x88 11 AddressBook 0x318ea450 0x318d5000 + 87120 // ABAddressBookGetPersonCount + 0x8 12 MyAddressBook 0x0000ad30 0x1000 + 40240 // -[MyAddressBookController readAB] + 0x2c0 13 MyAddressBook 0x0000a8ce 0x1000 + 39118 // -[MyAddressBookController start] + 0x4a What I'm doing in "readAB"? - (void) readAB { ABAddressBookRef ab = ABAddressBookCreate(); CFArrayRef contacts = ABAddressBookCopyArrayOfAllPeople(ab); CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab); for(int i = 0; i < count; i++) { //doing some thing... } } If you observe the above crash report, it is clearly pointing to CFIndex count = ABAddressBookGetPersonCount(ab);. Whats wrong with this code? I'm sure that this code works perfectly on firmware 3.1.2. But now I upgraded firmware to 3.1.3. Is this upgrade is causing any trouble? Regards, prathumca.

  • Trying to debug a 'Assertion failure in -[UIActionSheet showInView:]' error....

    - by dsobol
I am working through "Beginning iPad Application Development" and am getting hung up in Chapter 3 where I have created a project that works with an Action Sheet. As it stands now, my application loads into the simulator just fine with no errors that I am aware of, but as it runs, it crashes with the following errors showing up in the debugger window: 2010-05-31 19:44:39.703 UsingViewsActionSheet[49538:207] * Assertion failure in -[UIActionSheet showInView:], /SourceCache/UIKit_Sim/UIKit-1145.66/UIAlert.m:7073 2010-05-31 19:44:39.705 UsingViewsActionSheet[49538:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Invalid parameter not satisfying: view != nil' I am sure that this is the block where the app breaks based upon my use of breakpoints. //Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { UIActionSheet *action = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"This is my Action Sheet!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" destructiveButtonTitle:@"Delete Message!" otherButtonTitles:@"Option 1", @"Option 2", @"Option 3", nil]; [action showInView:self.view]; // <-- This line seems to trigger the crash.... [action release]; [super viewDidLoad]; } Am I missing something obvious, or is there more to the problem than is shown here? I have looked at the abstract for showInView and cannot divine anything there yet. I appreciate any and all asssitance. Regards, Steve O'Sullivan

  • Problems using a library in Xcode

    - by Pablo
Hi! I'm actually developping an application for iPhone and I need to use a library, initially dedicated to a Linux environment. Since I'm using a Mac (with Snow Leopard and Intel Core Duo), I guess it's possible to use this library in my app. My library has 3 files: a file .h, a file .a and a file .so (both .a and .so are in /Developer/usr/lib). In addition I have included the .h i nmy code and I've added the .a in XCode has a framework (and it works because XCode find the .so compiling). For your info when I use the command "file" for the file .so, I have: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, not stripped When I compile for the Xcode Simulator, I have a warning and an error. The warning is: In /Developer/usr/lib/mylib.so, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386) The error is: "_mylib_fct", referenced from: -[MyAppAppDelegate applicationDidBecomeActive:] in MyAppAppDelegate.o Symbol(s) not found Collect2: ld returned 1 exit status When I compile for the Device 3.0 with architecture arm6, I also have the same error, but the warning is quite different: ln /Users/Pablo/MyApp/mylib.a file is not of required architecture I try to solve this and make the app working with this lib since days, and I don't understand why the compiler is complaining... is it a 32/64 bits issues ? How can I deal with that ? Your help will be very appreciated. Thx!

  • VB.NET - Removing a number from a random number generator

I am trying to create a lottery simulator. The lottery has 6 numbers, the number generated must be between 1 - 49 and cannot be in the next number generated. • Empty UIView with minimal drawRect: overhead

    - by Benjohn Barnes
Hi, I have an application that has three nested views that are mechanically important, but have no visual elements: A vanila UIView that doesn't have any content of its own, and is simply used as a host for CALayers. A UIScrollView (that is queried for it's origin and used to position CALayers in 3d: I really only use this view to faithfully replicate the scroll view's "mechanics"), The scroll view's contents: a UIView subclass. It simply picks up touch events and passes them to a delegate - all that is important are its UIResponder machinery. The UIView hosting CALayers is a sibling of a UIImageView that is a background image over which the CALayers are drawn. I'd really like to ensure that none of these empty UIViews have any drawing or compositing overhead (in time, or storage) associated with them, or if that's not possible, to get this overhead as small as possible, and to understand it so that I can perhaps decide if I should try a different approach. In interface builder, I've set all of the views to not clear their context before drawing. I've not set them to be opaque though, because they definitely are not opaque - they are completely transparent. I've found that I need to give the scroll view contents a transparent clear colour (again in IB by setting the background colour's opacity to zero), and this suggests that it is being drawn, which I don't want. So, in short, I've not got much idea of what is and isn't getting drawn (anyone know of a tool like Quartz Debug for iPhone / simulator?), or how to go about stopping things from getting drawn. Advice would be very welcome! Thanks, Benjohn

  • Audio in xCode4.x is producing console warnings

  • CLLocationDistance NaN

    - by Kaspa
Hi, I'm trying to calculate a distance between two sets of coordinate points in an iPhone application on the fly using - (CLLocationDistance)getDistanceFrom:(const CLLocation *)location I saw that I started getting NaN's in strange places, thus investigated the matter up close, with the following hardcoded values. CLLocationDistance testDistance; placeLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:12.236533 longitude:11.011419]; userLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:12.236533 longitude:11.011419]; testDistance = [userLocation getDistanceFrom:placeLocation]; if(isnan(testDistance)) NSLog(@"ISNaN!"); [placeLocation release]; [userLocation release]; The above gets called multiple times, and in some situations the testDistance is NaN. I fear I'm missing something very simple here. Anyone have any idea? UPDATE 1: Ok, so I've moved the above code into a new project (put everything in the app delegate), looped it for 100 times and all is fine. This thus suggests that the problem is project related, but this helps very little... since all the variables are in the scope of 1 function. THE SOLUTION: OK, this seems to be a simulator bug. The same code build runs perfectly fine on the device. Case solved.

  • UINavigationController navigation stack problems in Landscape Mode

    - by David F
I have a iPhone application that I am currently converting to a Universal Binary to work with the iPad. I have successfully implemented everything I need in terms of layout so that full landscape functionality is now supported in my app (previously I primarily used portrait mode to display content). But, I have one strange problem, and it ONLY occurs in landscape mode: when I push a view controller onto the stack, it takes two taps on the back button to return to the previous view controller!!! The first tap shows a blank view, but with the same name on the left-side back navigation button, the second tap takes the controller back to previous view like it should. I don't have an iPad to test, so I am relying on the simulator. The problem does not show up on the iPhone and doesn't show up if you rotate back to portrait mode. My app consists of a tabbarcontroller with navigation controllers loaded for its vc's: //application delegate - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application //.... WebHelpViewController *vc8 = [[WebHelpViewController alloc] init]; UINavigationController *nv8 = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:vc8]; [self.tabBarController setViewControllers:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:nv1,nv2,nv3,nv4,nv5,nv6,nv7,nv8,nil]]; To implement landscape capability, the UITabBarController is overridden to autorotate when required: //CustomTabBarController.m - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return [[(UINavigationController *)self.selectedViewController topViewController] shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:interfaceOrientation]; } ... works fine. I navigate into new views using this method SomeViewController *vc = [[SomeViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; [vc release]; Has anyone encountered this problem, and do they know if it's only a simulation error?

  • applicationWillTerminate Appears to be Inconsistent

    - by Lauren Quantrell
    This one has me batty. In applicationWillTerminate I am doing two things: saving some settings to the app settings plist file and updating any changed data to the SQLite database referenced in the managedObjectContext. Problem is it works sometimes and not others. Same issue in the simulator and on the device. If I hit the home button while the app is running, I can only sometimes get the data to store in the plist and into the CoreData store. It seems that it's both works or neither works, and it makes no difference if I switch the execution order (saveState, managedObjectContext or managedObjectContext, saveState). I can't figure out how this can happen. Any help is greatly appreciated. lq AppDelegate.m @synthesize rootViewController; - (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { [rootViewController saveState]; NSError *error; if (managedObjectContext != nil) { if ([managedObjectContext hasChanges] && ![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { // Handle error exit(-1); // Fail } } } RootViewController.m - (void)saveState { NSUserDefaults *userDefaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [userDefaults setInteger:self.someInteger forKey:kSomeNumber]; [userDefaults setObject:self.someArray forKey:kSomeArray]; }

  • A dynamic array of class "landmark", inside another single class "landmarks"

    - by pinnacler
I'm working on a robot localization simulator and I created a class called "landmark". The end result is going to be a robot that is always centered and always faces the top of the screen. As it turns, the birds eye view map will rotate around the robot. To accomplish this, I'm assuming I can rotate one class and have all elements inside rotate as well. So, the landmark class has properties x,y, label, and radius. This is suppose to simulate a tree location in a forest. To test everything, I need "forest data," and I wrote a script to generate 100 trees in a 100m x 100m area. The script automatically generates values within an acceptable range for x,y, radius. The generated data is stored in an object called tempForest and is 100x3. Ideally, I want to create a class called "landmarks" (plural) that has 100 landmark instances inside. How would I instantiate 100 instances of landmark in one instance of landmarks using that randomly generated data? Ideally, I'd just type treeBeacons = landmarks(); and it would randomly populate 100 (user definable, set in config file) instances with x, y, radius data. I'm not sure how to deal with a dynamic array of class "Landmark", inside another single class "landmarks." Any ideas?

I learned a lot from the screencast at http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/ , and ive been trying to incorporate the way he creates a custom annotation into my iphone app. He is hardcoding annotations and adding them individually to the map, whereas i want to add them from my data source. So i have an array of objects with a lat and a lng (ive checked that the values are within range and ought to be appearing on the map) that i iterate through and do [mapView addAnnotation:truck] once this process is completed, i check the number of annotations on the map with [[mapView annotations] count] and its equal to the number it ought to be, so all the annotations are getting added onto the mapView, but for some reason I cant see any annotations in the simulator. I've compared my code with his in all the pertinent places many times, but nothing seems to stand out as being incorrect. Ive also reviewed my code for the last several hours trying to find a point where I do something wrong, but nothing is coming to mind. The images are named just as they are assigned in the custom AnnotationView, the loadAnnotation function is done properly, etc... i dont know what it could be. so i suppose if i could have the answer to one question it would be, what are possible causes for a mapView to contain several annotations, but to not show any on the map? Thanks

  • Why doesen't it work to write this NSMutableArray to a plist?

    - by Emil
    edited. Hey, I am trying to write an NSMutableArray to a plist. The compiler does not show any errors, but it does not write to the plist anyway. I have tried this on a real device too, not just the Simulator. Basically, what this code does, is that when you click the accessoryView of a UITableViewCell, it gets the indexPath pressed, edits an NSMutableArray and tries to write that NSMutableArray to a plist. It then reloads the arrays mentioned (from multiple plists) and reloads the data in a UITableView from the arrays. Code: NSIndexPath *indexPath = [table indexPathForRowAtPoint:[[[event touchesForView:sender] anyObject] locationInView:table]]; [arrayFav removeObjectAtIndex:[arrayFav indexOfObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:[[arraySub objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] intValue]]]]; NSString *rootPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *plistPath = [rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"arrayFav.plist"]; NSLog(@"%@ - %@", rootPath, plistPath); [arrayFav writeToFile:plistPath atomically:YES]; // Reloads data into the arrays [self loadDataFromPlists]; // Reloads data in tableView from arrays [tableFarts reloadData];

  • iPad: Cannot load facebook page wall in UIWebview

    - by geekay
Its already too long i am struggling with this issue. After searching a lot I decided to post a question here. What my app does Captures photo Uploads the photo on the wall of the page Displays the facebook page wall in a UIWebview after upload is complete Everything was working as expected 4 days back :) Suddenly something went wrong :( Code NSString *facebookPageURL =@"https://m.facebook.com/pages/<myPageName>/<myPageID>?v=wall" UIWebView *webView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:kAppFrame]; [webView setUserInteractionEnabled:NO]; [webView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; webView.delegate = self; [webView setHidden: YES]; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:[facebookPageURL stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] relativeToURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://login.facebook.com"]]; NSMutableURLRequest *request = nil; if(url) request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webView loadRequest:request]; [self.view addSubview:webView]; [webView reload]; [self.view bringSubviewToFront:webView]; webView = nil; Scenario If I open the url facebookPageURL in Safari in iOS Simulator it works well If I open the url in any browser on Mac it works well In webView I see a white screen If I change the facebookPageURL to remove ?v=wall to ?v=info I am stil able to see the page.(not blank screen atleast). Note 1. My facebook Page is NOT unpublished and is visible. 2. I have cross checked the facebook page permissions. I suspect there is something changed on facebook side overnight. Please guide.

  • Debugging an unresponsive iPhone UI

    - by buggles
I have an application that needs to update its display every minute or so. To achieve this I was using performSelector:withObject:afterDelay, calling the selector that most of the time just changes some text in a label based on a very simple (and quick) calculation. [self performSelector:@selector(updateDisplay) withObject:nil afterDelay:60]; Occasionally during an update, I have to go off and get some data from the web, and so I do that in another thread using detachNewThreadSelector. That all worked and the "performSelector after Delay" call completes in a tiny fraction of a second, and only runs once a minute. Despite this, and despite running fine on the simulator, the single button in the app is largely unresponsive, not responding to multiple stabs. So, I had assumed peformSelector:afterDelay would not block, but I'm now wondering if it is blocking in some way? I even tried NOT doing the web-look-up incase this was somehow still impacting the responsiveness. No joy. [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(updateFromURL) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; I then pushed it through shark to see if I could see anything obvious. From here I can see the web-lookup is the only thing taking any time, but it is only being done every couple of minutes, and then clearly not running on the main thread. The app itself is consuming a tiny fraction of 1% of the CPU (0.0000034%) over 20 minutes, so it just must be a blocking issue. So, am I missing something about performSelector:afterDelay? What other common newbie mistakes might I be making. If it helps, although I've been developing applications for over 20 years, the previous 10 have been largely Java. Perhaps I have a Java assumption loaded :-) Essentially I have assumed the main thread is like the EDT (only do UI stuff on it, but keep everything else off it).

  • Iphone: TabView + TableView

    - by OneTrickPonySoft
I think I'm missing something simple, but I can't figure out exactly what it is. I'm trying to set up an App with a UITabViewController, and one of the Tabs will have a UITableView and UISearchBar (but no Navigation Controller). I set up the UITabViewController with all the tabs in interface builder, and the views are in their own xib files. The xib file for the tab with the UITableView is set up and connected as follows. Stuff in the browser: File's owner (Class is my custom class that is a child of UITableViewController) view - View View (class UIView, reference view - File's owner) contains: UITableView (if i try and set references to the data source / delegate, the app breaks) UISearchBar (unconfigured at the moment) This setup displays all the items and doesn't lock up, but I can't assign a DataSource without it crashing when i try and load the tab with the UITableView. What should I do to get data into this table, either in IB or code? My ideas are as follows: Implement custom UITableView class, hook up to table view in IB or to custom tableviewcontroller in Xcode. Pound head or laptop against the wall until it works. Update: Here's the error the simulator pushes to the console when I connect the Tableview's data source and delegate to File Owner (who's class is my custom tableviewcontroller). 2/14/09 6:59:12 PM TabBarWillbeRight[33172] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[UIViewController tableView:numberOfRowsInSection:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x523760'

  • Image Masking Problem

    - by Adnan Sohail
    Hi I am doing image masking. First I was using C*GImageMaskCreate()* function for masking but now I am using your solution which you had posted for masking. My problem is it works fine on simulator but on device it is not transparent and it gives rectangle of mask image at background. The following is my code. Now tell me what I have to do? Thanks. CGContextRef mainViewContentContext; CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace; UIImage *orgImage=[UIImage imageNamed:@"orgimage.png"]; CGImageRef img = [orgImage CGImage]; colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); mainViewContentContext = CGBitmapContextCreate (NULL, width, height, 8, 0, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast); CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace); if (mainViewContentContext==NULL) return NULL; CGRect subImageRect; CGImageRef tileImage; subImageRect = CGRectMake(xCord,yCord,width,height); tileImage = CGImageCreateWithImageInRect(img,subImageRect); CGImageRef maskImage = mask_image.CGImage; CGContextClipToMask(mainViewContentContext, CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height), maskImage); CGContextDrawImage(mainViewContentContext, CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height), tileImage); CGImageRef mainViewContentBitmapContext = CGBitmapContextCreateImage(mainViewContentContext); CGContextRelease(mainViewContentContext); UIImage *theImage = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:mainViewContentBitmapContext]; CGImageRelease(mainViewContentBitmapContext);

  • C# COM Cross Thread problem

    - by user364676
Hi, we're developing a software to control a scientific measuring device. it provides a COM-Interface defines serveral functions to set measurement parameters and fires an event when it measured data. in order to test our software, i'm implementing a simulation of that device. the com-object runs a loop which periodically fires the event. another loop in the client app should now setup up the com-simulator using the given functions. i created a class for measuring parameters which will be instanciated when setting up a new measurement. // COM-Object public class MeasurementParams { public double Param1; public double Param2; } public class COM_Sim : ICOMDevice { public MeasurementParams newMeasurement; IClient client; public int NewMeasurement() { newMeasurment = new MeasurementParam(); } public int SetParam1(double val) { // why is newMeasurement null when method is called from client loop newMeasurement.Param1 = val; } void loop() { while(true) { // fire event client.HandleEvent; } } } public class Client : IClient { ICOMDevice server; public int HandleEvent() { // handle this event server.NewMeasurement(); server.SetParam1(0.0); } void loop() { while(true) { // do some stuff... server.NewMeasurement(); server.SetParam1(0.0); } } } both of the loops run in independent threads. when server.NewMeasurement() is called, the object on the server is set to a new instance. but in the next function, the object is null again. do the same when handling the server-event, it works perfectly, because the method runs in the servers thread. how to make it work from client-thread as well. as the client is meant to be working with the real device, i cannot modify the interfaces given by the manufactor. also i need to setup measurements independent from the event-handler, which will be fired not regulary. i assume this problem related to multithreaded-COM behavior but i found nothing on this topic.

  • Why would delaying a thread response fix view corruption?

    - by Beth S
6 times out of 10 my very simple iPhone app is getting a corrupted display on launch or crashes randomly. But it behaves fine in the simulator. The display corruption looks like mis-colored fonts, out of place font text, wrong background colors, etc. I've found a strange work-around.. when my thread delays by 2 seconds before calling the "done" notification, everything works swimmingly. The thread reads a web page and the "done" notification loads up a PickerView with strings. So what gives? Can I not safely initiate a threaded task from viewDidLoad? - (void) loadWebPage:(NSString *)urlAddition { NSAutoreleasePool *subPool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSString *pageSource; NSError *err; NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithString:@"http://server/%@", urlAddition]; pageSource = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString: urlString] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&err]; [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:2.0]; // THIS STOPS THE DISPLAY CORRUPTION [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"webDoneNotification" object:nil]; [subPool drain]; } - (void) webDoneNotification: (NSNotification *)pNotification { [mediaArray release]; mediaArray = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSString stringWithString:@"new pickerview text"], nil] retain]; [mediaPickerView reloadAllComponents]; [mediaPickerView selectRow:0 inComponent:0 animated:NO]; } - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { mediaArray = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSString stringWithString:@"init pickerview text"], nil] retain]; if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) { // Custom initialization } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; myWebThread = [[WebThread alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(webDoneNotification:) name:@"webDoneNotification" object:nil]; [myWebThread performSelectorInBackground:@selector(loadWebPage:) withObject:@""]; } Thanks! Update: Even a delay of 0.1 seconds is enough to completely fix the problem.
