• Is there a way to add extra fields to an association in the ADO.NET Entity Framework?

  I would like to be able to model a many-to-many relationship that has extra details about the relationship. For example: Person: int id, String name Project: int id, String name ProjectPerson: Person.id, Project.id, String role Whenever I create the ProjectPerson association in the EF, I am unable to add the role attribute to the association. If I create the tables in my DB and then import it into the model, I lose the extra properties.

I think an example would explain things better: string: "Hello, -this- is a string" substring to find: "Hello this" chars to ignore: "," and "-" found the substring, result: "Hello, -this" Using Regex it's not a requirement for me, just added the tag because it feels related.

  I am writing a dirty little extension method for HtmlHelper so that I can say something like HtmlHelper.WysiwygFor(lambda) and display the CKEditor. I have this working currently but it seems a bit more cumbersome than I would prefer. I am hoping that there is a more straight forward way of doing this. Logically, I would assume that I have erred somewhere with the syntax involved in parameterizing this query, however, my double and triple checking (as well as, my past experience at doing this) insists that everything looks fine here. Have I messed up the syntax involved with parameterizing this query, or is something else at play here that I am overlooking? I know I can tell you, for sure, as it has been previously tested, that the value I am getting from the query string is, indeed, what I would expect it to be, but as there really isn't much else on the .cshtml page yet, that is about all I can tell you.

• Improve heavy work in a loop in multithreading

  Hi guys, I have started to work on a site without url rewriting. Now, the request is to use friendly urls so i started to use Intelligencia.UrlRewriter. So no longer return "~/Site/Categorii.aspx?category=m1" but "~/Site/Categorii/m1" without beeing needed to modify its structure? I mean, i have about 30 methods like the one from the above; it would be extremely helpfull if i can be guided to use a regex at the output of the methods iso modifying the url construction...   seems like a call to $this->_redirect('*/*/myaction',$myargs); does not properly escape the arguments so if $myargs=array(p1=>'string that has + or / within it') the created URL will be something like: ..../myaction/?p1/string%20that%20has%20+%20or%20/%20within%20it causing the getParams collection on the action to have p1 with value 'string that has or ' <- plus sign missing and value broken and ' within it' with no value or something similar. is there any standard way I should handle the arguments before passing them to _redirect ?   This method that uses method-level generics, that parses the values from a custom POJO, JXlistOfKeyValuePairs (which is exactly that). The only thing is that both the keys and values in JXlistOfKeyValuePairs are Strings. This method wants to taken in, in addition to the JXlistOfKeyValuePairs instance, a Class<T> that defines which data type to convert the values to (assume that only Boolean, Integer and Float are possible). It then outputs a HashMap with the specified type for the values in its entries.   I have a JComboBox on my Panel. One of the popup menu items is 'More' and when I click that I fetch more menu items and add them to the existing list. After this, I wish to keep the popup menu open so that the user realizes that more items have been fetched however, the popup closes.   Hello I've been looking for a method to strip my XML content of apostrophes (') like: <name> Jim O'Connor</name> since my DBMS is complaining of receiving those. • Unresponsive UI when using BeginInvoke

  Bckground I have a networked application written in C#. my server program has a UI and several communication threads, that read from tcp sockets and display messages on controller UI. Communication with each client is done through a seprate thread. When i recieve some stream of messages from one client , the thread for that client writes on UI, which is a richtextbox on a Form. I call SetTextHelper(string text) method of the form. which looks like this private delegate void MyTextUpdateHandler(string text); public void SetTextHelper(string text) { BeginInvoke(new MyTextUpdateHandler(SetText), new object[] { text }); } public setText(string text) { richtext.Text= text; } Question - If i use BeginInvoke my UI is entirely unresponsive when i m writing large stream of data to UI - Invoke solves that problem, but i read that for multi threaded environment where many thereads are sharing same resource Invoke can lead to deadlocks I share the common ichtextbox between around 16 threads - What would be a good desing for my situation?

• Why is the dictionary debug visualizer less useful in Visual Studio 2010?

  I was debugging in Visual Studio 2010, which we just installed and trying to look at a dictionary in the quick watch window. I see Keys and Values, but drilling into those shows the Count and Non-Public members, Non-Public members continues the trail and I never see the values in the dictionary. I can run test.Take(10) and see the values, but why should I have to do that. I don't have VS 2008 installed anymore to compare, but it seems that I could debug a dictionary much easier.   I hope someone can help me. I have the following custom server control: [ParseChildren(true)] public class MyControl : WebControl, INamingContainer { [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public string MyProperty { get;set; } } It works perfectly with the following mark-up: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty>Test String</MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> But if I try to localise the property string, I get a parse error: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty><%=(string)GetLocalResourceObject("MyResourceKey") %></MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> Even if I cast the type, ASP.NET indicates that the property cannot accept controls as children. How should the expression look like if I want to localise it? I can make the property accessible as an attribute of the control's tag, but I prefer the mark-up above, it looks more elegant and clean.
