• Problem with stack based implementation of function 0x42 of int 0x13

  I'm trying a new approach to int 0x13 (just to learn more about the way the system works): using stack to create a DAP.. Assuming that DL contains the disk number, AX contains the address of the bootable entry in PT, DS is updated to the right segment and the stack is correctly set, this is the code: push DWORD 0x00000000 add ax, 0x0008 mov si, ax push DWORD [ds:(si)] push DWORD 0x00007c00 push WORD 0x0001 push WORD 0x0010 push ss pop ds mov si, sp mov sp, bp mov ah, 0x42 int 0x13 As you can see: I push the dap structure onto the stack, update DS:SI in order to point to it, DL is already set, then set AX to 0x42 and call int 0x13 the result is error 0x01 in AH and obviously CF set. No sectors are transferred. I checked the stack trace endlessly and it is ok, the partition table is ok too.. I cannot figure out what I'm missing... • Sorting ArrayList - IndexOutOfBoundsException -Java

  I'm trying to sort an ArrayList with strings(PlayersNames) and imageIcons(PlayersIcons) based on the values i store in an other arrayList with integers(results). As you can see i get an indexOutOfBoundsException but i cant understand why. Maybe the earling of the morning makes me not to see plain things. • Can NSCollectionView autoresize the width of its subviews to display one column

  Hi, I have an NSCollectionView that contains a collection of CustomViews. Initially it tiled the subviews into columns and rows like a grid. I then set the Columns property in IB to 1, so now it just displays them one after another in rows. However, even though my CustomView is 400px wide, it's set to autoresize, the NSCollectionView is 400px wide, and it's set to 1 column, the subviews are drawn about 80px wide. I know I can get around this by calling: CGFloat width = [collectionView bounds].size.width; NSSize size = NSMakeSize(width, 85); [collectionView setMinItemSize:size]; [collectionView setMaxItemSize:size]; But putting this code in the awakeFromNib method of my WindowController only sets the correct width when the program launches. When I resize the window (and the NSCollectionView autoresizes as I've specified), the CustomViews stay at their initially set width. I'm happy to take care of resizing the subviews myself if need be, but I'm quite new to Cocoa and can't seem to find any articles explaining how to do such a thing. Can someone point me in the right direction? Anthony

  I am new to Unit Testing and therefore wanted to do some practical exercise to get familiar with the jUnit framework. (a special number indicating error?) 2) What additional test cases did I miss? 3) Is assertEquals() method enough for testing the multiplier method or do I need other methods like assertTrue(), assertFalse(), assertSame() etc 4) Is this the RIGHT way to go about developing test cases? How am I "exactly" benefiting from this exercise? 5)What should be the ideal way to test the multiplier method? I am pretty clueless here.   I'm trying to write a test for an UrlHelper extensionmethod that is used like this: Url.Action<TestController>(x => x.TestAction()); However, I can't seem set it up correctly so that I can create a new UrlHelper and then assert that the returned url was the expected one. • How to use a viewstate'd object as a datasource for controls on a user control

  I've got a listview on a control. Each row comprises a checkbox and another listview. The outer listview is bound to a property on the control (via a method call, can't set a property as a SelectMethod on an ObjectDataSource it would appear) which is lazy loaded suchly: Public ReadOnly Property ProductLineChargeDetails() As List(Of WebServiceProductLineChargeDetail) Get If ViewState("WSProductLineChargeDetails") Is Nothing Then ViewState("WSProductLineChargeDetails") = GetWebServiceProductLineChargeDetails() End If Return DirectCast(ViewState("WSProductLineChargeDetails"), Global.System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Global.MI.Open.WebServiceProductLineChargeDetail)) End Get End Property The shape of the object referenced by the data source is something like this: (psuedocode) Product { bool Licenced; List<Charge> charges; } Charge { int property1; string property2; bool property3 . . . } The reason for the use of viewstate is this: When an one of the checkboxes on one of the outer list view rows is checked or unchecked I want to modify the object that the ODS represents (for example I'll add a couple of Charge objects to the relevant Product object) and then rebind. The problem I'm getting is that after every postback (specifically after checking or unchecking one of the rows' checkbox) my viewstate is empty. Thiss means that any changes I make to my viewstate'd object is lost. Now, I've worked out (after much googling and reading, amongst many others, Scott Mitchel's excellent bit on ViewState) that during initial databinding IsTrackingViewState is set to false. That means, I think, that assigning the return from GetWebServiceProductLineChargeDetails() to the ViewState item in my Property Get during the initial databind won't work. Mind you, even when the IsTrackingViewState is true and I call the Property Get, come the next postback, the viewstate is empty. So do you chaps have any ideas on how I keep the object referenced by the ObjectDataSource in ViewState between postbacks and update it and get those changes to stay in ViewState? This has been going on for a couple of days now and I'm getting fed up! Cheers in advance Steve

• wcf callback exception after updating to .net 4.0

  I have a wcf service that uses callbacks with DualHttpBindings. The service pushes back a datatable of search results the client (for a long running search) as it finds them. This worked fine in .Net 3.5. Since I updated to .Net 4.0, it bombs out with a System.Runtime.FatalException that actually kills the IIS worker process. I have no idea how to even go about starting to fix this. Any recommendations appreciated. The info from the resulting event log is pasted below. • Linq to SQL with INSTEAD OF Trigger and an Identity Column

  I need to use the clock on my SQL Server to write a time to one of my tables, so I thought I'd just use GETDATE(). The problem is that I'm getting an error because of my INSTEAD OF trigger. Is there a way to set one column to GETDATE() when another column is an identity column? For members to be AutoSynced after insert, the type must either have an auto-generated identity, or a key that is not modified by the database after insert. I could remove EventTime from my entity, but I don't want to do that. If it was gone though, then it would be NULL during the INSERT and GETDATE() would be used. Is there a way that I can simply use GETDATE() on the EventTime column for INSERTs? Note: I do not want to use C#'s DateTime.Now for two reasons: 1. One of these inserts is generated by SQL Server itself (from another stored procedure) 2. Times can be different on different machines, and I'd like to know exactly how fast my processes are happening.

• Extend base type and automatically update audit information on Entity

  I have an entity model that has audit information on every table (50+ tables) CreateDate CreateUser UpdateDate UpdateUser Currently we are programatically updating audit information. Ex: if(changed){ entity.UpdatedOn = DateTime.Now; entity.UpdatedBy = Environment.UserName; context.SaveChanges(); } But I am looking for a more automated solution. During save changes, if an entity is created/updated I would like to automatically update these fields before sending them to the database for storage. Any suggestion on how i could do this? I would prefer to not do any reflection, so using a text template is not out of the question. A solution has been proposed to override SaveChanges and do it there, but in order to achieve this i would either have to use reflection (in which I don't want to do ) or derive a base class. Assuming i go down this route how would I achieve this? For example EXAMPLE_DB_TABLE CODE NAME --Audit Tables CREATE_DATE CREATE_USER UPDATE_DATE UPDATE_USER And if i create a base class public abstract class IUpdatable{ public virtual DateTime CreateDate {set;} public virtual string CreateUser { set;} public virtual DateTime UpdateDate { set;} public virtual string UpdateUser { set;} } The end goal is to be able to do something like... public overrride void SaveChanges(){ //Go through state manager and update audit infromation //FOREACH changed entity in state manager if(entity is IUpdatable){ //If state is created... update create audit. //if state is updated... update update audit } } But I am not sure how I go about generating the code that would extend the interface.

• Git with SSH on Windows

  Hello all, I've went through the excellent guide provided by Tim Davis (http://www.timdavis.com.au/git/setting-up-a-msysgit-server-with-copssh-on-windows/) which is about configuring Git to work with SSH under Windows in order to produce a Git Server in order to have a main place for my DVCS. I am in the process of creating a clone for my project. I’ve went through all the steps till this point, but I keep getting this from TortoiseGit: git.exe clone -v “ssh://[email protected]:22/SSH/Home/administrator/myapp.git” “E:\GitTest\myapp” bash: [email protected]: command not found Initialized empty Git repository in E:/GitTest/myapp/.git/ fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Success and nothing gets cloned. BTW: The TortoisePLink comes up just before this message appears and asks me: “login as:” ( I thought that this info is given in the command, i.e: Administrator@blahblah. My home variable is set to the correct place: From a Git Bash shell: echo $HOME /c/SSH/home/Administrator I’ve also tried using Putty’s plink instead of TortoisePLink (in both Git’s and TortoiseGit’s installation). This time the error was narrowed down to: git.exe clone -v “ssh://[email protected]:22/c:/SSH/Home/administrator/myapp.git” “E:\GitTest\myapp” Initialized empty Git repository in E:/GitTest/myapp/.git/ fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Any help is more than welcome! • Mercurial 1.5 pager on Windows

  I'm trying to set the pager used for Mercurial but the output is empty, even if I specify the command in the [pager] section or as the PAGER environment variable. I noticed that the command provided is launched with cmd.exe. Is this the cause of empty output, and if yes, what is the right syntax? Environment: Mercurial 1.5, Mecurial 1.4.3 hgrc: [extensions] pager = [pager] pager = d:\tools\less\less.exe Sample command lines (from Process Explorer): hg diff c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c "d:\tools\less\less.exe 2> NUL:" d:\tools\less\less.exe UPDATE In pager.py, by replacing: sys.stderr = sys.stdout = util.popen(p, "wb") with sys.stderr = sys.stdout = subprocess.Popen(p, stdin = subprocess.PIPE, shell=False).stdin I managed to obtain the desired output for the hg status and diff. BUT, I'm sure it's wrong (or at least incomplete), and I have no control over the pager app (less.exe): the output is shown in the cmd.exe window, I can see the less prompt (:) but any further input is fed into cmd.exe. It seems that the pager app is still active in the background: after typing exit in the cmd.exe window, I have control over the pager app, and I can terminate it normally. • How to pass multiple parameter in DomainService - WCF

  Hi, Let's say I have a window which should submit 3 model in client side (Silverlight Client Application). My problem is each time I submit the form, data on the server side which I passed them from client are empty. I've used nested class which contains my models, instead of passing multiple object as parameter, but it didn't work again. • Svn import with auto-props & pre-commit hook

  My company's svn repo has a lot of MS Word docs in it. We've implemented a policy that all .doc files must have the svn:needs-lock property set to prevent parallel access on files that are hard to merge (we've also done this for xls, ppt, pdf etc.). We've implemented the policy by distributing a svn config with auto-props set appropriately for all relevant document types. We've also set up a pre-commit hook that checks that all added files of these types have the needs-lock property set (i.e. if they forget/are too lazy to update their svn config file, they won't be able to add any docs to the repo). The problem I'm having, however, is that the pre-commit hook fails when users try to import files into the repo, e.g. some users like to add files directly thru TortoiseSVN's Repo Browser, which effectively is an svn import. Through testing on other file types, I have seen that doing an import does in fact apply the auto-props listed in my config, but they don't seem to be applied at the point that the pre-commit hook runs. When importing .doc files, the hook fails, saying that the needs-lock property is missing. Is there really much difference between adding a single file to a working copy and committing it vs importing a file directly? Do we need to tailor our precommit hook in some way to cater for this scenario?

• Convert string to decimal retaining the exact input format

  Hi All, I'm sure this is a piece of cake but I'm really struggling with something that seems trivial. I need to check the inputted text of a textbox on the form submit and check to see if it's within a desired range (I've tried a Range Validator but it doesn't work for some reason so I'm trying to do this server-side). What I want to do is: Get the value inputted (eg. 0.02), replace the commas and periods, convert that to a decimal (or double or equivalent) and check to see if it's between 0.10 and 35000.00. Here's what I have so far: string s = txtTransactionValue.Text.Replace(",", string.Empty).Replace(".", string.Empty); decimal transactionValue = Decimal.Parse(s); if (transactionValue >= 0.10M && transactionValue <= 35000.00M) // do something If I pass 0.02 into the above, transactionValue is 2. • Codeigniter: Base_url doesn't seem to be working

  I have developed a simple site that fetches tweets from the Twitter public timeline, caches them for 60 seconds and so on. I have recently moved hosts from Hostgator to Mediatemple and my site was previously working fine on Hostgator. My application doesn't use a database connection, nor does it use any form of flat-file database either. Tweets are cached in an XML file stored in the root directory, not that most of that is important. The url helper is being included as can be seen below (this is my helpers line from autoload.php): $autoload['helper'] = array('url'); I have also removed my index.php file from the URL using .htaccess directives and once again this was previously working on Hostgator (see my .htaccess code below): RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(application) - [F,L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* index.php/$0 [PT,L] In my home.php view file which is in the views folder inside of application, I am using the function base_url() which was previously working on Hostgator inside of my view files and appending it a base href value in my header: <base href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>" /> Here is what my base_url value looks like in the config.php file: $config['base_url'] = "http://threetune.com/"; Although what appears to be happening is that the base_url is not to be seen at all. It doesn't appear to be echoing out the value of base_url as it appears to be empty for some reason. What makes things weirder is that I have a link in another view file called 'fetch.php' and for some reason it appears to be stripping out the value (XSS filtering is off): <a href="threetune/show"><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> The threetune/show part is not to be seen and I only see an empty href value like this <a href=""><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> Can anyone possibly see anything wrong that I may have done, some kind of Mediatemple server limitation or PHP.ini flag that needs to be set? • Huge mysql table with Zend Framework

  I have a mysql table with over 4 million of data; well the problem is that SOME queries WORK and SOME DON'T it depends on the search term, if the search term has a big volume of data in the table than I get the following error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 1048576000 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 75 bytes) in /home/****/public_html/Zend/Db/Statement/Pdo.php on line 290 I currently have Zend Framework cache for metadata enabled, I have index on all the fields from that table.The site is running on a dedicated server with 2gb of ram. I've also set memory limit to: ini_set("memory_limit","1000M"); Any other things that I can optimize? • Parsing large delimited files with dynamic number of columns

  Hi, What would be the best approach to parse a delimited file when the columns are unknown before parsing the file? The file format is Rightmove v3 (.blm), the structure looks like this: #HEADER# Version : 3 EOF : '^' EOR : '~' #DEFINITION# AGENT_REF^ADDRESS_1^POSTCODE1^MEDIA_IMAGE_00~ // can be any number of columns #DATA# agent1^the address^the postcode^an image~ agent2^the address^the postcode^^~ // the records have to have the same number of columns as specified in the definition, however they can be empty etc #END# The files can potentially be very large, the example file I have is 40Mb but they could be several hundred megabytes. Below is the code I had started on before I realised the columns were dynamic, I'm opening a filestream as I read that was the best way to handle large files. I'm not sure my idea of putting every record in a list then processing is any good though, don't know if that will work with such large files. • Problem: Sorting for GridView/ObjectDataSource changes depending on page

  I have a GridView tied to an ObjectDataSource using paging. The paging works fine, except that the sort order changes depending on which page of the results is being viewed. This causes items to reappear on subsequent pages among other issues. I traced the problem to my DAL, which reads a page at a time and then sorts it. Obviously the sorting is going to change as the result set size changes. Is there an improvement to this algorithm. • What is the proper way to align UITableViewCells when only some have an imageView?

  Hello all, I am new to iPhone programming and working on my first real application (i.e. one not written in a book or online) and I've run into a small problem which I could solve a multitude of ways, but feel like there should be a good solution that perhaps I am just missing. Here is the scenario: I have a UITableView with a bunch of standard UITableViewCells in it. What I want to do is toggle a green check mark when the cell is selected and I have that part working (note: I'm already using the accessoryType for something else, so I can't use it for the checkmark...besides, it's not as pretty). Unfortunately, when I toggle the checkmark like so: if (...) { cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"checkmark.png"]; } else { cell.imageView.image = nil; } It makes the cell's label bounce back and forth depending on whether it is checked or not. What is the proper way to align the cell's text (set via cell.textLabel.text) regardless of whether or not it has an image set? The solutions I have come up with are: Create a blank 40x40 png image in Photoshop and set the unchecked to that Create a blank 40x40 image solely in code Set some setting that I don't know about that will align it for me Create a subclass of UITableCellView that does what I need (which would be stupid, I'd just go with option 1...) Suggestions? Thoughts? Comments? Thank you very much :-) P.S. I'd like the solution to work with OS 3.0 and 4.0 if that makes any sort of difference.
