• adding zeros in objective-c string formats

  Hello- Quick question: I am trying to fill in empty spaces with a specific number of zeroes in an NSString stringWithFormat formatting string. For example, I want: @"The number is %d", 5 // I want this to output 'the number is 05' @"the number is %d", 10 // I want this to output 'the number is 10' I know how to do this in Java, but I cant seem to find the same function in objective-c. Any help would be great.

  Hi, I'm coding an application on Ipad, in a certain point of my application I present a ViewController with the presentModalViewController. My ViewController is a UISScrollView who take the larger of the modalView and inside it I display some images, I allow pagingEnabled so I can see all my images inside the scrollView. Sometimes I have to display more than 10 images inside the scrollView, so I have this error RECEIVE MEMORY WARNING LEVEL=1 after this one RECEIVE MEMORY WARNING LEVEL=2 and finnaly the debugger exited due to signal 10 (Sigbus). What can I do? is there a way to unload the image thats offscreen? or others things to do? Thanks,

• AJAX call in for loop won't return values to correct array positions

  I need to get a range of pages using AJAX and put them into an array, where their given place in the array is equal to the i of a for loop (it's a caching-like function for blog pages, and the range of the for loop is entirely variable). I'm doing something akin to the following: var bongo = new Array(); for (i = 0; i < 10; i++) { jQuery.ajax({ type: "GET", url: http://localhost, data: queryString, success: function(request) { bongo[i] = request } }) } The problem is, that unless I add async: false to the .ajax options (which would make it... SJAX?), which causes the requests to basically pause the browser, going against what I'm trying to do, the i in the success callback will always end up being 11, whereas I of course want it to pour the returned data into each slot of the array from 0 to 10. I've tried replacing the line with this: bongo[i] = jQuery.ajax({ type: "GET", url: http://localhost, data: queryString }).responseText But that made no difference.

• Having problems with a mask in C#

  I guess this would be a DevExpress mask, but here is what I have: var dlEdit = new DevExpress.XtraEditors.Repository.RepositoryItemTextEdit(); dlEdit.Mask.MaskType = MaskType.RegEx; dlEdit.Mask.EditMask = "\\d{1,10}"; I'm trying to get a number that can be up to 10 digits in length that WILL accept leading 0's, as it is now it will show the leading 0's (ex. 0032421243) until the field is clicked off in which case it removes them. I tried a numeric masktype but same thing only it wouldn't let me enter the 0's to start with at all. I thought this would be my answer but this custom type isn't. Can someone point me in the right direction for what I need? Maybe a different type of mask or something?

• Does RVM "failover" to another ruby instance on error?

  Have a strange problem in that I have a Rake task that seems to be using multiple versions of Ruby. When one fails, it seems to try another one. Details MacBook running 10.6.5 rvm 1.1.0 Rubies: 1.8.7-p302, ree-1.8.7-2010.02, ruby-1.9.2-p0 Rake 0.8.7 Gem 1.3.7 Veewee (provisioning Virtual Machines using Opcode.com, Vagrant and Chef) I'm not entirely sure the specific details of the error matter, but since it might be an issue with Veewee itself. So, what I'm trying to do is build a new box base on a veewee definition. The command fails with an error about a missing method- but what's interesting is how it fails. Errors I managed to figure out that if I only have one Ruby installed with RVM, it just fails. If I have more than one Ruby install, it fails at the same place, but execution seems to continue in another interpreter. Here are two different clipped console outputs. I've clipped them for size. The full outputs of each error are available as a gist.   I have the following problem : I am given a tree with N apples, for each apple I am given it's weight and height,I can pick apples up to a given height H,each time I pick an apple the height of every apple is increased with U(also given).I have to find out the maximum weight of apples I can pick. e.g: N=4 H=100 U=10 (height-eight) apple1: 91 10 apple2: 82 30 apple3: 93 5 apple4: 94 15 The answer is 45 : I first pick the apple with the weight of 15 then the one with the weight of 30. The formatted xml that I get is as below: node1, node2, node 3 are attributes of pojo,DetailDollars 100 25 10 I have requirement where in I have to calucluate a percentage, for example 100/ 25 and add the new node to the existing ones. So, the final output should be : 100 25 10 4 I wrote a custom converter and registered to my xstream object. public void marshal(..){ writer.startNode("node4"); writer.setValue(getNode1()/ getnode2() ); writer.endNode(); } But, the xml stream I get has only the new node: 4 I am not sure which xstream api would get me the desired format. could you please help me with this . • Why are emails sent from my applications being marked as spam?

  Hi. I have 2 web apps running on the same server. The first is www.nimikri.com and the other is www.hourjar.com. Both apps share the same IP address (75.127.100.175). My server is through a shared hosting company. I've been testing my apps, and at first all my emails were being delivered to me just fine. Then a few days ago every email from both apps got dumped into my spam box (in gmail and google apps). So far the apps have just been sending emails to me and nobody else, so I know people aren't manually flagging them as spam. I did a reverse DNS lookup for my IP and the results I got were these: 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS2.GNAX.NET. 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS1.GNAX.NET. Should the reverse DNS lookup point to nimikri.com and hourjar.com, or are they set up fine the way they are? I noticed in the email header these 2 lines: Received: from nimikri.nimikri.com From: Hour Jar <[email protected]> Would the different domain names be causing gmail to think this is spam?   Hi, Is there any best practice when working with AST:s? I have a parsed expression AST. ConstantExpression, BinaryExpression etc. I want to populate a GUI-dialog with information from the AST, and it's here where I get kinda confused because my code gets pretty messy. Example: expression = "Var1 > 10 AND Var2 < 20" I want to populate two textboxes with value 10 resp. 20 from the AST. What I'm doing now is a recursive method that checks for correct child expression-types (with .Net Is-operator) and acts accordingly and the code is really "smelly" :) Is there any design pattern, like Visitor or such, that makes this somewhat easier/more readable/maintainable ?

  I'm trying to create a ggplot2 plot with the legend beneath the plot. The ggplot2 book says on p 112 "The position and justification of legends are controlled by the theme setting legend.position, and the value can be right, left, top, bottom, none (no legend), or a numeric position". The following code works (since "right" it is the default), and it also works with "none" as the legend position, but "left", "top", "bottom", all fail with "Error in grid.Call.graphics("L_setviewport", pvp, TRUE) : Non-finite location and/or size for viewport" library(ggplot2) (myDat <- data.frame(cbind(VarX=10:1, VarY=runif(10)), Descrip=sample(LETTERS[1:3], 10, replace=TRUE))) qplot(VarX,VarY, data=myDat, shape=Descrip) + opts(legend.position="right") What am I doing wrong?   In my work I have with great results used approximate string matching algorithms such as Damerau–Levenshtein distance to make my code less vulnerable to spelling mistakes. Now I have a need to match strings against simple regular expressions such TV Schedule for \d\d (Jan|Feb|Mar|...). This means that the string TV Schedule for 10 Jan should return 0 while T Schedule for 10. Jan should return 2. This could be done by generating all strings in the regex (in this case 100x12) and find the best match, but that doesn't seam practical. Do you have any ideas how to do this effectively?

  I am creating a Stratego Game and am having trouble creating an algorithm that can detect when there are no more possible moves because all your pieces are gone or the remaining pieces are unmovable or trapped by forbidden squares, unmovable pieces, or other trapped pieces. For simplicity you can think of the board as an array of Squares which can contain pieces. Square[][] gameBoard = new Square[10][10] Squares have easily checkable state such as hasPiece(), hasEnemyPiece(), hasUnMovablePiece(), hasMoveablePiece(), isBlocked(). It would also probably be nice if this algorithm wasn't run every time a player moved but maybe checked in the beginning and then only certain conditions were checked when the player moved.

  Assuming we are not concerned about running time of the program (which is practically infinite for human mortals), we want to print out in base 10, the exact value of 10^(googolplex), one digit at a time (mostly zeros). Describe an algorithm (which can be coded on current day computers), or write a program to do this. Since we cannot practically check the output, so we will rely on collective opinion on the correctness of the program. NOTE : I do not know the solution, or whether a solution exists or not. The problem is my own invention. To those readers who think this is not a CS question... kindly reconsider. This is difficult and bit theoretical but definitely CS.

  I'm trying to get connected to another ASA via Cisco VPN Client. I am behind an ASA 5505 myself and I am tryihng to VPN to a 5510.
