• missing entry in launchctl after restart

  I have a deamon which is registered with launchctl to run as system-wide-daemon and to load automatically with every system startup or if the daemon crashes. I have registered this daemon with: sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/plist.file Everything works fine. My daemon is registered and with sudo launchctl list I can find the entry at launchctl But on some Macs after the user restarts the system, my daemon is not running. And with the command sudo launchctl list I can't find the entry anymore. Any ideas, why the entry is missing???

• RAR Decompress on iPhone Device

  Has anyone found a solution to decompressing RAR files on iPhone (not Jailbroken)? It would be great if there was a library similar to libz. I did not find anything official from [URL="http://www.rarlab.com/"]RARlab[/URL]. Anyone successful with integrating [URL="http://wdtz.org/iphone/unrar/"]unRAR[/URL] into their app? The source code appears to be C++? I know that this has been asked before, but I've not seen a solution other than porting unRAR which is beyond me. Would greatly appreciate any information or suggestions. Thank you.

• draw an arc given 3 points in SWT

  iam using the swt java library and iam having a problem. the gc draw arc method takes the following arguments GC.drawArc(int x, int y, int width, int height, int startAngle, int endAngle); but i want to be able to draw the arc using 3 arguments : the source ,destination and control points. is there any formula to convert between those parameters ? QuadCurve2D class do exactly what i want but it is not AWT not swt ...and i tried to use java2d under swt but it was very slow .... any solutions ?

• How to install Nokogiri as a Macruby gem?

  The latest MacRuby release notes (v0.6) state that the authors have managed to get this release working with the SQLite and Nokogiri gems. However when I run sudo macgem install nokogiri I get the following errors: ERROR: Error installing nokogiri: extconf failed: and then a bunch of paths followed by: libxml2 is missing. try 'port install libxml2' or 'yum install libxml2' /Library/Frameworks/MacRuby.framework/Versions/0.6/usr/lib/ruby/Gems/1.9.0/gems/nokogiri-1.4.1/ext/nokogiri/extconf.rb:1:in `<main>': libxml2 is missing. try 'port install libxml2' or 'yum install libxml2' (SystemExit) Anyone knows how to get this working? My platform is Mac OS X 10.6.3. Nokogiri normally (meaining on plain old ruby 1.8.7) installs without a problem.

• Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

  I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it?   When creating a new Rails project using: rails sample Then creating a model using: script/generate model person first_name:string last_name:string Everything is fine. However, if I add any gems to my environment.rb: config.gem "authlogic" And run the same generator, I get the following: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/rails-2.3.5/lib/rails/gem_dependency.rb:119:Warning: Gem::Dependency#version_requirements is deprecated and will be removed on or after August 2010. The warning just recently appeared (I think), but I would like to fix it if possible. Any hints or similar experiences? Thanks.

  I'm familiarizing myself with Ruby and it's the first time I see synonyms for methods in the standard library. For now I've found the ones in the Enumerable module: collect <- map detect <- find include <- member etc. Probably other modules contains synonymic methods too. Why are they there? Is it some kind of backward compatibility? Or is it a feature of the language, so the programmer can choose between different options depending on the context to make the program look like plain English?

• Hierarchical animations in DirectX and handling seperate animations on the same mesh?

  I have a hierarchical animated model in DirectX which loads and animates based on the following DirectX sample: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee418677%28VS.85%29.aspx As good as the sample is it does not really go into some of the details of animation that I'd like. For example, if I have a mesh which has a running animation and a throwing animation as seperate animation sets how can I get the throwing animation to occur for bones above the hip and the walking animation to occur for bones underneath the hip? Also if I wanted to for example have the person lean left or right would I simply have to find the bone for the hip and multiplay a rotation matrix by its matrix? In this case I think the matrix is m_amxBoneOffsets?

• C/C++ Allegro program causes Windows 7 to switch to Aero Basic

If you aren't sure what I mean, this pops up (I got this from Google, which is why it says Vista rather than Windows 7): 1) Why? 2) How can I ensure that this doesn't happen?

• XML RSS to HTML parser doesn't work

  I'm using MCX (I don't even know if someone here is familiar with it, pretty unkown derivate of COBOL and Fortran, look it up in google when you don't believe me) Note: I'm using MCX on the MCX-WebServices server as it does neither support apache or ISS, mabye that is one problem. The thing is that I want to use the XML library to read in an XML file and convert it into an output format readable by the user. • Dynamically creating a member ID card as pdf using PHP?

  I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birthday along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP libraries out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas?   I am at present introducing code to my site to combine css and javascript files. Is there a way without having to include an external library to load javascript asynchronously or in parallel? I have read on some blogs that combining of files can be counter productive as the load of the http request can be large and its better to load multiple files in parallel. Opinions on this? I am caching my javascript/css. And would have thought it was better to combine rather than have multiple http requests.

• Image rendering on browser or temporary images?

  I'm trying to make a statistics page where it will show several data and charts. The charts need to be pictures so that the user can save it/drag-and-drop to his/her personal reports. I'm using Gruff Graphs for Ruby to produce the charts but I don't know the best way to display the results safe and protected. Some of my ideas/tries are: save the chart to a file (jpg, png)? problem: data is available to anyone (don't have access to cron, to delete data from time to time) render in the browser (has to work on IE)? Use javascript (Raphaël—JavaScript Library) or Google API and output a PDF report (need plugin or gem, right)? use send_data? i've tried to output other way than inline, because I needs to show other data, is it possible? • How can I graph the Lines of Code history for git repo?

  Basically I want to get the number of lines-of-code in the repository after each commit. The only (really crappy) ways I have found is to use git filter-branch to run "wc -l *", and a script that run git reset --hard on each commit, then ran wc -l To make it a bit clearer, when the tool is run, it would output the lines of code of the very first commit, then the second and so on.. • Identifying NHibernate proxy classes

  I'm not an NHibernate user; I write a serialization utility library. A user has logged a feature-request that I should handle NHibernate proxy classes, treating them the same as the actual type. At the moment my code is treating them as unexpected inheritance, and throwing an exception. The code won't know in advance about NHibernate (including no reference, but I'm not aftaid of reflection ;-p) Is there a robust / guaranteed way of detecting such proxy types? Apparently DataContractSerializer handles this fine, so I'm hoping it is something pretty simple. Perhaps some interface or [attribute] decoration. Also, during deserialization; at the moment I would be creating the original type (not the NHibernate type). Is this fine for persistence purposes? Or is the proxy type required? If the latter; what is required to create an instance of the proxy type?

• Async Socket Listener on separate thread - VB.net

  I am trying to use the code from Microsoft for an Async Socket connection. It appears the listener runs in the main thread locking the GUI. I am new at both socket connections and multi-threading all at the same time. Having a hard time getting my mind wrapped around this all at once. • Inaccurate Logarithm in Python

  I work daily with Python 2.4 at my company. I used the versatile logarithm function 'log' from the standard math library, and when I entered log(2**31, 2) it returned 31.000000000000004, which struck me as a bit odd. I did the same thing with other powers of 2, and it worked perfectly. I ran 'log10(2**31) / log10(2)' and I got a round 31.0 I tried running the same original function in Python 3.0.1, assuming that it was fixed in a more advanced version. Why does this happen? Is it possible that there are some inaccuracies in mathematical functions in Python?

• What's all the hype over objectsets?

  I am an intermediate user of EF in .net 3.5 and have recently moved to working with .net 4. One think i keep coming across when reading various tutorials is the use of ObjectSets instead of ObjectQuerys and that they are a great new feature. What is so great about them? Reading this MSDN article titled "Working with ObjectSet (Entity Framework)" It shows two examples for on how to add a Product.. one for 3.5 and another for 4.0. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee473442.aspx Though my lack of knowledge I am possibly bringing up a seperate point here, but i never added a Product like this: //In .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, use the following code: using (AdventureWorksEntities context = new AdventureWorksEntities()) { // Add the new object to the context. context.AddObject("Products", newProduct); } I would have just used context.AddToProducts(newProduct); Please enlighten me.   Welcome, In short, my website use BBcode system, and i want allow users to preview message without posting it. I'm using JQuery library. I need 3 actions. 1) When user click in textarea i want display DIV what will contain preview, i want animate opening. 2) When user typing, i want dynamical load parsed by PHP code to DIV. (i'm still thinking what will be best option... refresh every 2 seconds, or maybe we can detect and refresh after 1 second of inactivity [stop typing]) 3) When user click outside textarea i want close preview div with animation. For example the PHP parser will have patch /api/parser.php and variable by POST called $_POST['message']. Any idea my digital friends ?

• C#: How do I get the path of the assembly the code is in?

  Is there a way to get the path for the assembly in which the current code resides? I do not want the path of the calling assembly, just the one containing the code. Basically my unit test needs to read some xml test files which are located relative to the dll. I want the path to always resolve correctly regardless of whether the testing dll is run from TestDriven.NET, the MbUnit GUI or something else. Edit: People seem to be misunderstanding what I'm asking. My test library is located in say c:\projects\myapplication\daotests\bin\Debug\daotests.dll and I would like to get the "*c:\projects\myapplication\daotests\bin\Debug*" path. The three suggestions so far fail me when I run from the MbUnit Gui: Console.Out.Write(Environment.CurrentDirectory) gives c:\Program Files\MbUnit Console.Out.Write(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetAssembly(typeof(DaoTests)).Location) gives C:\Documents and Settings\george\Local Settings\Temp\ ....\DaoTests.dll Console.Out.Write(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().Location) gives the same as the previous

• Verify mail server connection programmatically

  I'm using custom SMTP servers and would like to verify the connection when user enters his own server credentials. Exactly the same type of check as Adobe CF and Railo allow to do when adding mail server. Sure, this does not guarantee that delivery will be working, but at least to check that entered server/username/pass are valid. I can see one tricky way: try to send the email with cfmail and check the mail log. But I believe that it can be done with more elegant. Is there any Java library available with standard ACF/Railo distro to help me? How would I use them? Examples are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
