• Is there an easy method to combine two relative paths in C# ?

  I want to combine two relative paths in C#. For example: string path1 = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha"; string path2 = "Panels/Alpha/Data"; I want to return string result = "/System/Configuration/Panels/Alpha/Data"; I can implement this by splitting the second array and compare it in a for loop but I was wondering if there is something similar to Path.Combine available or if this can be accomplished with regular expressions or Linq?   I'm missing something very obvious here, but I just cant see it. I've got: string input = @"999\abc.txt"; string pattern = @"\\(.*)"; string output = Regex.Match(input,pattern).ToString(); Console.WriteLine(output); My result is: \abc.txt I don't want the slash and cant figure out why it's sneaking into the output. I tried flipping the pattern, and the slash winds up in the output again: string pattern = @"^(.*)\\"; and get: 999\ Strange. The result is fine in Osherove's Regulator. Any thoughts? Thanks.

• Sending buffered images between Java client and Twisted Python socket server

  I have a server-side function that draws an image with the Python Imaging Library. The Java client requests an image, which is returned via socket and converted to a BufferedImage. I prefix the data with the size of the image to be sent, followed by a CR. I then read this number of bytes from the socket input stream and attempt to use ImageIO to convert to a BufferedImage. Side notes: I realize that the char[]-to-String-to-bytes-to-BufferedImage Java logic is roundabout, but reading the bytestream directly produces the same errors. I have a version of this working where the client socket isn't persistent, ie. the request is processed and the connection is dropped. That version works fine, as I don't need to care about the image size, but I want to learn why the proposed approach doesn't work.

  seems like a call to $this->_redirect('*/*/myaction',$myargs); does not properly escape the arguments so if $myargs=array(p1=>'string that has + or / within it') the created URL will be something like: ..../myaction/?p1/string%20that%20has%20+%20or%20/%20within%20it causing the getParams collection on the action to have p1 with value 'string that has or ' <- plus sign missing and value broken and ' within it' with no value or something similar. is there any standard way I should handle the arguments before passing them to _redirect ? • Why AutoResetEvent and ManualResetEvent does not support name in the constructor?

  On .NET Framework 2.0 AutoResetEvent and ManualResetEvent inherit from EventWaitHandle. The EventWaitHandle class has 4 different constructors. 3 of the constructors support giving a name to the event. On the other hand both ManualResetEvent and AutoResetEvent do not support naming and provide a single constructor that receives the initialState. I can simply inherit from EventWaitHandle and write my own implementation of those classes that support all the constructor overloads, but I don't like to re-invent the wheel if I do not have to. My questions are: Is there a special problem in naming events? Do you have any idea why Microsoft did not support it? • replace values in form.data when form fails validation

  Hi I have a form field which requires a json object as its value when it is rendered. When the form is submitted it returns a comma seperated string of ids as its value (not a json string). however if the form does not validate i want to turn this string of ids back into a json string so it will display properly (is uses jquery to render the json object correctly). how would i do this? I was thinking of overwriting the form.clean method but when I tried to change self.data['fieldname'] I got the error 'This QueryDict instance is immutable' and when i tried to change self.cleaned_data['fieldname'] it didn't make a difference to the value of the field.   I have a question: I need to create a user form that contain that usual OK and Cancel Buttons. It also should contain two sets of Options buttons, each set placed inside a frame. The captions on the first set should be basketball, baseball, football, the captions on the second set should be watch on TV and Go to games. I need to write the event handlers and code in a module so that when the program runs, the user sees the form. If the user makes a couple of choices and clicks OK, he should see a message like "Your favorite sport is basketball, and you usually watch on TV." If the user clicks Cancel, the message "Sorry you don't want to play" should appear. I think I almost have it working, but I don't know why I cannot successfully execute the Macro.   This method that uses method-level generics, that parses the values from a custom POJO, JXlistOfKeyValuePairs (which is exactly that). The only thing is that both the keys and values in JXlistOfKeyValuePairs are Strings. This method wants to taken in, in addition to the JXlistOfKeyValuePairs instance, a Class<T> that defines which data type to convert the values to (assume that only Boolean, Integer and Float are possible). It then outputs a HashMap with the specified type for the values in its entries. • Android - cant read TXT files from SDcard on real mashine?

When I run the code bellow in the virtual android (1.5) it works well, TextSwitcher shows first 80 chars from each txt file from /sdcard/documents/ , but when I run it on my Samsung Galaxy i7500 (1.6) there are no contents in TextSwitcher, however in LogCat there are FileNames of txt files.   I need to parse some large text file and extract Display name and area code only if it matches the following pattern: Line starts with display name (any number of words) Followed by 6 digits (can contain spaces) Followed by #text tag e.g. John doe 123 456 #text some text Display name: John doe Area code: 123 456 Test 123456 #text Display name: Test Area code: 123456 Test 123 #test Invalid, area code contains only 3 digits Test 123456 #test1 Invalid, contains invalid tag Test 123g45 #test Invalid, area code contains letters etc. I know how to open the text file and read it line by line, but having trouble with writing the regular expression. • HQL multiple updates. Is there a better way?

  I have a Map, that I want to persist. The domain object is something like this: public class Settings { private String key; private String value; public String getKey() { ... } public String getValue() { ... } public void setKey() { ... } public void setValue() { ... } } The standard approach is to generate a Setting for each pair, and saveOrUpdate() it. But it generates way too much queries, because I need to save lots of settings at a time, and it really affects perfomance. Is there a way to do this using one update query?

  So the user may search for "10 mbit" after which I want to capture the "10" so I can use it in a speed-search rather than a string-search. This isn't a problem, the below regexp does this fine: if (preg_match("/(\d+)\smbit/", $string)){ ... } But, the user may search for something like "10/10 mbit" or "10-100 mbit". I don't want to match those with the above regexp - they should be handled in another fashion. So I would like a regexp that matches "10 mbit" if the number is all-numeric as a whole word (i.e. contained by whitespace, newline or lineend/linestart) Using lookbehind, I did this: if (preg_match("#(?<!/)(\d+)\s+mbit#i", $string)){ Just to catch those that doesn't have "/" before them, but this matched true for this string: "10/10 mbit" so I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but what?

  In my android program, I have a spinner that allows the user to select different times. Each selection is processed with Joda time to subtract the minutes. It works fine for minutes 0 to 59 and 61 and greater. However, when 60 minutes is subtracted, the time is not updated, and the original time is shown. How do I get Joda time to subtract 60 minutes?
