  • Jquery Plugins/Autocomplete Special Char problem

  • Text Obfuscation using base64_encode()

    I'm playing around with encrypt/decrypt coding in php. Interesting stuff! However, I'm coming across some issues involving what text gets encrypted into. Here's 2 functions that encrypt and decrypt a string. It uses an Encryption Key, which I set as something obscure. I actually got this from a php book. I modified it slightly, but not to change it's main goal. I created a small example below that anyone can test. But, I notice that some characters show up as the "encrypted" string. Characters like "=" and "+". Sometimes I pass this encrypted string via the url. Which may not quite make it to my receiving scripts. I'm guessing the browser does something to the string if certain characters are seen. I'm really only guessing. is there another function I can use to ensure the browser doesn't touch the string? or does anyone know enough php bas64_encode() to disallow certain characters from being used? I'm really not going to expect the latter as a possibility.   • ASP.net MVC DropLownList db.SaveChanges not saving selection

    I have looked through a ton of tutorials and suggestions on how to work with DropDownList in MVC. I was able to get most of it working, but the selected item is not saving into the database. I am using MVC 3 and Razor for the view. My DropDownList is getting created with the correct values and good looking HTML. When I set a breakpoint, I can see the correct selected item ID in the model getting sent to controller. When the view goes back to the index, the DropDownList value is not set. The other values save just fine. Here are the related views.     Ok before i make spaghetti of this code i thought id ask around here. ive made a quiz for an online site. Plus, i tried getting the updatepanel to work just so i could see if it does the update well but it turned out really bad. i added some linkbottons in the content template area and used them as the triggers for testing reasons. i tested and the changes took over the entire page in contrast to just appearing in the content area. I actually just wanted to load a form that is created in another asp. page into the main content area... I seriously need help with this...   • Create Views for object properties in model in MVC 3 application?

    I have an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with a database "Consultants", accessed by EF. Now, the Consultant table in the db has a one-to-many relationship to several other tables for CV type information (work experience, etc). So a user should be able to fill in their name etc once, but should be able to add a number of "work experiences", and so on. But these foreign key tables are complex objects in the model, and when creating the Create View I only get the simple properties as editor fields. How do I go about designing the View or Views so that the complex objects can be filled in as well? I picture a View in my mind where the simple properties are simple fields, and then some sort of control where you can click "add work experience", and as many as needed would be added. But how would I do that and still utilize the model binding? In fact, I don't know how to go about it at all. (BTW, Program and Language stand for things like software experience in general, and natural language competence, not programming languages, in case you're wondering about the relationships there). Any ideas greatly appreciated!   • Repeating a object that only occurs couple of times and has different values with htmlagilitypack c#.

    I have a problem I cant seem to solve here. Lets say I have some html like beneth here that I want to parse. All this html is within one list on the page. And the names repeat themself like in the example I wrote. <li class = "seperator"> a date </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> <li class = "seperator"> a new date </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> <li class = "seperator"> a nother new date </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> <li class = "lol"> some text </li> I did manage to use htmlagility pack to parse every li object seperate, and almost formating it how I want. My print atm looks something like this: "a date" "some text" "some text" "some text" "some text" "a new date" "some text" "a nother new date " "some text" "some text" "some text" What I want to achive: "a date" "some text" "a date" "some text" "a date" "some text" "a date" "some text" "a new date" "some text" "a nother new date " "some text" "a nother new date " "some text" "a nother new date " "some text" But the problem is that beneath every seperator, the count of every lol object may vary. So one day, the webpage may have one lol object beneth date 1, and the next day it may have 10 lol objects. So I am woundering if there is an smart/easy way to somehow count the number of lol objects in between the seperators. Or if there is another way to figure this out? Within for example htmlagilitypack. And yes, I need the correct date in front of every lol object, not just infront the first one. This would have been a pice of cake if the seperator class would have ended beneath the last lol object, but sadly that is not the case... I dont think that I need to paste my code here, but basicly what I do is to parse the page, extract the seperators and lol objects and add them to a list, where I split them up to seperator and lol objects. Then I print it out to a file and since the seperator only occure 3 times(in the example) I will only get out 3 seperate dates.

    I am making a shopping list app. When an item is added to the text input, it should be converted into a list item with a class of "tile" and added to the beginning of the list with a class of ".shopping_item_list".   • How do I log back into a Windows Server 2003 guest OS after Hyper-V integration services installs and breaks my domain logins?

    After installing Hyper-V integration services, I appear to have a problem with logging in to my Windows Server 2003 virtual machine. Incorrect passwords and logins give the usual error message, but a correct login/password gives me this message: Windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain controller is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account was not found. Please try again later. If this message continues to appear, contact your system administrator for assistance. Nothing pleases me more than Microsoft telling me (the ersatz system administrator) to contact my system administrator for help, when I suspect that I'm hooped. The virtual machine has a valid network connection, and has decided to invalidate all my previous logins on this account, so I can't log in and remotely fix anything, and I can't remotely connect to it from outside either. This appears to be a catch 22. Unfortunately I don't know any non-domain local logins for this virtual machine, so I suspect I am basically hooped, or that I need ophcrack. is there any alternative to ophcrack? Second and related question; I used Disk2VHD to do the conversion, and I could log in fine several times, until after the Hyper-V integration services were installed, then suddenly this happens and I can't log in now - was there something I did wrong? I can't get networking working inside the VM BEFORE I install integration services, and at the very moment that integration services is being installed, I'm getting locked out like this. I probably should always know the local login of any machine I'm upgrading so I don't get stuck like this in the future.... great. Now I am reminded again of this.

  • 'The rpc server is unavailable' or 'access is denied' error when using Remote desktop Services Manager on Windows 7 (but mstsc.exe works!)

    I am trying to connect to a Windows XP workstation from a Windows 7 Ultimate workstation using Remote Desktop Services Manager. I am able to do a Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe) session from the Win7 machine to the WinXP machine with no problem at all. When running the Remote Desktops Admin (tsmmc.msc) too on a Windows XP box, I can also connect with no problem. However, when I use the new Remote Desktop Services Manager on Windows 7 and try to connect, I get the error: "The rpc server is unavailable" What could cause this? Has there been some fundamental change in Remote Desktop Services Manager, does it connect in a different way somehow? Update #1 Turned off firewall on the Windows XP box and the "The rpc server is unavailable" error went away; so RDSM seems to be using an entirely new port/connection/service compared to mstsc.exe or the old Remote Desktops Admin tool. Now... after disabling the firewall, I get a new error: Access is Denied. After doing some googling, I found some articles discussing this; basically, the error is very misleading - the actual problem is, if either side of the connection has dual monitors, and they are not both Win7 Ultimate, then you cannot connect using Remote Desktop Services Manager...the reason is, by default it uses the /multimon switch, and this switch requires a certain level of Windows license - and, there seems to be no way of changing this default (if anyone knows of a way to change this default, please post an answer or comment!). So it sees that there is one row in the websites table of the database, but it is not returning anything to page and listing out the rows in the websites table. Not sure if this is the paginator that is causing this cause it is returning 0 or something else I don't know about.

  • Difficulty analyzing text from a file

    I'm running into a rather amusing error with my output on this lab and I was wondering if any of you might be able to hint at where my problem lies. The goal is find the high, low, average, sum of the record, and output original record. I started with a rather basic program to solve for one record and when I achieved this I expanded the program to work with the entire text file. Initially the program would correctly output: 346 130 982 90 656 117 595 High# Low# Sum# Average# When I expanded it to work for the entire record my output stopped working how I had wanted it to. 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 High: 0 Low: 0 Sum: 0 Average: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 High: 0 Low: 0 Sum: 0 Average: 0 etc... I cant quite figure out why my ifstream just completely stopped bothering to input the values from file. I'll go take a walk and take another crack at it.   • How to track deleted self-tracking entities in ObservableCollection without memory leaks

    In our multi-tier business application we have ObservableCollections of Self-Tracking Entities that are returned from service calls. The idea is we want to be able to get entities, add, update and remove them from the collection client side, and then send these changes to the server side, where they will be persisted to the database. Self-Tracking Entities, as their name might suggest, track their state themselves. When a new STE is created, it has the Added state, when you modify a property, it sets the Modified state, it can also have Deleted state but this state is not set when the entity is removed from an ObservableCollection (obviously). If you want this behavior you need to code it yourself. In my current implementation, when an entity is removed from the ObservableCollection, I keep it in a shadow collection, so that when the ObservableCollection is sent back to the server, I can send the deleted items along, so Entity Framework knows to delete them. This approach works fine, until you start to think about the life-cycle these shadow collections. Basically, when the ObservableCollection is garbage collected there is no way of knowing that we need to remove the shadow collection from our dictionary. I came up with some complicated solution that basically does manual memory management in this case. I keep a WeakReference to the ObservableCollection and every few seconds I check to see if the reference is inactive, in which case I remove the shadow collection. But this seems like a terrible solution... I hope the collective genius of StackOverflow can shed light on a better solution. Thanks!

    I'm trying to extract text from PDF files using an iFilter. The Adobe PDF iFilter that is distributed with Adobe Reader is awful, returning HRESULT E_FAIL messages for many PDF documents. The FoxIt PDF IFilter works beautifully on virtually all of the PDFs I've been using for testing. The problem is that every time the Adobe Updater runs, it replaces the awesome FoxIt IFilter with the crappy Adobe IFilter. I've been using the LoadIFilter method to get the registered IFilter for PDF files. Is there a way to force the Win32 API to load the FoxIt IFilter instead of the Adobe IFilter? NOTE: This question about determining which IFilters are installed asks a related -- but not identical -- question.
