  How can I block access to the site if a user is not logged in? Under web.xml Security I checked Form authentication then I selected Login and Error page, but I don't know how to block the access and redirect the user to the login page. Do I need a filter? If so, how can I get the login url I specified? And how should I call the validation method? • MVC partial page update

  Hello, I have an MVC project where I have a form with fields a user can enter and save. On that same page I have a table which shows a brief listing of information that the user just saved. The problem I am having is trying to update only the table after a save and not an entire page refresh. Is this possible in jquery or MVC? If so does anyone have an example.   Hello everyone, I would like to know if there is a way to change the text in the [More ...] tab. With the code below I am able to change the text in the view, however the text in the tab remains the same. Is there a way to access it and change it's appearance. tabBarController.moreNavigationController.topViewController.navigationItem.title = NSLocalizedString(@"Meer", ""); My second question is about the [Edit] button in the More view. • .NET Publishing files but allowing them to be edited?

  I had media files require in the project so i did this + set built action to content Now here are my problems I would like my app to check for .NET and to check for other installs which is fine now that i made a prerequisite I would like to copy media files when i publish One of these files is a config file i like the user to edit Problem is after doing 1 which gives me a publish folder with a setup.exe + files i have no idea where my installed files are and if i modify the file.ext.deploy i get an error about the hash of the file modified. Is there a way i can have plain non deploy files or distribute the bin/release folder as i normally do but add something to check my prerequisite?

  I have a bunch of checkboxes on a page, and I only show a subset of those checkboxes at a time. I then perform some action which loops through all of the checkboxes and sees if they are checked or not: e.g. $(".delete_items").click( function() { $('.checkboxes' ).each(function(){ //do stuff } } Then I was thinking, well since the user can never interact with the hidden checkboxes, that adding :visible to checkboxes would speed up the loop e.g. $(".delete_items").click( function() { $('.checkboxes :visible' ).each(function(){ //do stuff } } But I don't know if adding :visible adds more overhead. Any thoughts?

  I have a form where I have an administrator creating new users. The form uses the User model I created (login, password, first_name, etc...). For the last field on the form, I want to have a checkbox that doesn't need to be stored as part of the User record, but it is needed for the controller.   I am a UI/UX designer and I would like to create kiosk type of app that would be a product catalog (help/suggestor) for customers in a retail store using a touch screen monitor (and computer). Something as simple as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoH0u6YTTK4 This is what I would like it to do: 1st Screen (Main Menu): Pick a type of category (For example: Dog, Cat, Small Animal) 2nd Screen pick a sub-category of a main category (For example: Puppy, Adult, Senior - DOG) 3rd Screen pick a sub-category of previous sub-category (For example: Food, Healthy, Toys) Then it will display a list of all products with a picture, small description, and price. Thats it. So the point of the kiosk is to help customers find certain products that match their pet criteria. (Dog Puppy Healthy Dog Food) I am wondering what is the best solution: RIA (Flex/Air or Silveright) or flash/action script. I am not sure what is the best technology to use for the following benefits: user-experience (smoothness of touch screen actions) and fast development.

• Convert UTC date to actual date and time

  I have a chart of bitcoin prices. I have the correct prices on the Y-axis, but I cannot get the correct time on the X-axis. The time shows up in a UTC format in my console. I am adding price and date to the series each iteration. I need to get the date of that particular result and find the YEAR, MONTH and DAY of that so I can put it in the right format. • Windows Phone 7 Application + WCF + SSL + Username Authentication

  Hello, I have developed a test service with WCF, which I try to consume from a Windows Phone 7 Application, however when calling a method from the service I get a weird exception: There was no endpoint listening at https://server/Service.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. The WCF service uses a custom binding with UserNameOverTransport authentication and SSL. For the authorization I am using an implementation of the UserNamePasswordValidator. If I try to consume the service from a console or silverlight application (cross domain policy is enabled) - it works fine (authorization as well). And the most weird thing is that the ServiceReferences.ClientConfig file generated for the WP7 App is exactly the same as the config file generated for the silverlight application. I have no idea what is wrong with my service...

• Rails Variable across all controller actions

  Hello, This should be a very simple rails question. I have a variable like the following. @administration = Administration.first I want this variable to be accessible through every controller action across all my controllers so for example if I have a Product controller and inside of it I have the usual CRUD actions, I want the @administration variable as defined above to be put into all the CRUD actions. (It would not be needed in destroy or create or update). I have many controllers throughout my project and I was wondering if there is an easier way than adding it manually through all of the actions that I want it in. I tried a global variable $administration = Administration.first but I run into an issue where it is not updated when I update the actual content of the Administration.first table. Also, I would like to avoid global variables. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

Parameters: {"commit"=>"OK", "action"=>"set_incident_incident_status_id", "id"=>"1", "controller"=>"incidents", "incident"=>{"incident_status_id"=>"1"}} I know that if I want to select the incident, I can do: @incident = Incident.find(params[:id]) How do I access the "incident"={"incident_status_id"="1"}? I thought to try something like: @incident_status = IncidentStatus.find(params[:incident => :incident_status_id]) But that didn't work. I'm assuming it's just a syntax problem at this point, and I haven't found a solution yet. Any help would be much appreciated!

• How to extract messages to translate from a Play! application

  I'm writing my first application using the Play! framework and I was wondering if there was a tool that could extract the messages that need translation from my views and controllers for me ? It is rather cumbersome to fill the conf/messages(.xx) file while I'm developing my app, but I'm afraid that if I don't do it as I go, I will never be able to completely translate my application afterwards. Such tools exist with other framework such as CakePHP for instance, and I think that it shouldn't be hard to write one by myself, but if there already is one... I was also wondering, what should I name the keys of the messages in my application ? Using gettext, it's not bad practice to directly type in the message in english as the key, but is it with the system that Play! uses (MessageFormat, right ?) ? Does anyone have an advice or naming convention (something like controller.action.describe_the_message maybe) ? Thank you for your advices !

  Hello, I have an user view model that has the following properties: public User user; public List<Language> Languages; I send the above model to the view and use html helpers to build the form, so I end up with something like: <form action="/Users/Edit/5" method="post"><input id="user_UserId" name="user.UserId" type="hidden" value="5" /> First Name Last Name Email Language - en en Now, I try to read the POST in something that initially was something like : [AcceptVerbs( HttpVerbs.Post )] public ActionResult Edit( int UserId, FormCollection form ) { and cannot get the user.UserId variable, user.FirstName variable etc. Any idea what needs to be done to be able to read this kind of POST request. I'm kind of reluctant to modifying my ViewModel as it is very simple and easy to maintain as it is. Thank you.

  I have an app that reads xml from a database using NHibernate Dal. The dal calls stored procedures to read and encapsulate the data from the schema into an xml message, wrap it up to a message and enqueue it on an internal queue for processing. I would to secure the channel from the database reads to the dequeue action. What would be the best way to do it. I was thinking of signing the xml using System.Security.Cryptography.Xml namespace, but is their any other techniques or approaches I need to know about? Any help would be appreciated. Bob.

That is, I need to change the html (class, id) of the input elements (username, password) of a login form provided by sfDoctrineGuardPlugin. • ASP NET forms Authorization: how to reduce duration?

  I've got a web page which is implementing cookie based ASPNET Forms Authentication. Once the user has logged in the page, he can edit some information using a form which is created using a partialview and returned to him as a dialog for editing. The action linked to the partial view is decorated as follows: [HttpGet] [OutputCache(Duration = 0, VaryByParam = "None")] [Authorize(Roles = "test")] public ActionResult changeTripInfo(int tripID, bool ovride=false) { ... } The problem i am experiencing is the latency between the request and the time when the dialog is shown to the user: time ranges between 800 and 1100 ms which is not justified by the complexity of the form. Investigating with Glimpse turns out that the time to process the AuthorizeAttribute (see snip) sums up to at least 650 ms which is troubling me. Looking at the Sql server log, the call which checks the user roles takes, as expected, virtually nothing (duration 0). How can I reduce this time? Am I missing some optimization?

• Linq to SQL and Realtime Data

  I have an application that needs to constantly (every 50ms), call to an MVC action, and pickup/drop off data. I am using Linq to SQL and MVC because of how simple they are to implement, and I know that they aren't perfect when it comes to performance, but it works relatively well, but the best speed I can get with my current approach is 200ms (without requests overlapping). Each call to the site will create a new instance of the datacontext, query/insert it and return that data. Is there a way to have the datacontext static, but submitchanges say every 5 seconds, so that i am pretty much hitting an in-memory version of the data?
