• jQuery Select Menu Replacement

  I have a select drop-down that selects a theme for the current page the user is on: <select id="style" name="acct-stylenum"> <option value="1" selected="true">Light</option> <option value="2">Dark</option> </select> Now what I would like to do is add two divs that will also control this select menu. I would much rather have the user select between two images than a select menu. The divs are as follows: <div class="style-box light"></div> <div class="style-box dark"></div> I would like to use jQuery to make the select menu hidden but still use its input. Also I would like the divs to control the menus value and show a selected state. Please let me know the easiest way this can be done using jQuery or JavaScript. Thanks in advance. -B

• Add a Session Variable or Custom field to the Elmah Error Log table

  I want to add my own session variable to elmah error log table and display it. I already have modified the source code and added the new fields to Error.cs and other fields but I don't know but when I assign an HttpContext.Current.Session["MyVar"].tostring() value to my field in the constructor it stops logging exceptions and does not log any exception. I just need to get the value of the session variable is there other way for this. I read a post which he added fields for the email but it does not say where exactly should I get the session value.

• ASP.NET Session does not timeout on using ReportViewer Control.

  Hi, We are using the ReportViewer control to display SSRS reports in our ASP.NET application. On pages where we use the ReportViewer control the session does not time out. The reason for this is the ReportViewer control emits a "setTimeOut" javascript function which reads the Session timeout value from the web.config and pings the server 1 minute before the configured value and keeps the session alive. For example, if the session timeout value is 5 minutes, the ReportViewer pings the server on the 4th minute. We used fidldler to verify this behavior. In addition, if we remove the ReportViewer control from the page, the sessions times out as expected. We also tried using the ReportViewer control in a sample application and observed the same behaviour. Has anyone faced this issue? Regards, Saurabh

  I have a string that I'm converting to a float that I want to check for values in an if statement. The original float value is the iPhone's trueHeading that is returned from the didUpdateHeading method. When I convert the original float to a string using @"%.2f" it works perfectly, but what I'm trying to do is convert the original float number to the same value. IF I just convert the string to [string floatValue] I get the same original float number, and I don't want that. To make it short and simple, how do I take an existing float value and just get the first 2 decimals?

I went through the w3c specification, books and tutorials on the same, but still I am a bit unclear about certain concepts: Assume that I access Website A. Some JavaScript runs in my browser that sets a key value pair, say ('username','deepak'). Then I access Website B which also adds a key,value pair in the localstorage as ('username','mahalingam'). How will they both be differentiated? Will Website B override the value set by website A in my localstorage? How can we ensure that a website would not erase all of my localstorage?

  Hi, For glassfish v2, I have searched through the web and I cannot find anyway to specify query timeout when using TopLink essential query hint. We have another option to migrate to EclipseLink but that is not feasible. have tried the solution in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=974732&tstart=-1 but it seems the DatabaseQuery which one could set a timeout value is actually for Toplink, not TopLink essential. Do we have some other way to instruct the JDBC driver for this timeout value other than the query hint? I need to do it on query-basis and not system-basis (which is just to change the value of DISTRIBUTED_LOCK_TIMEOUT)

  I am trying to get the contentOffset property of a UIScrollView in the middle of a setContentOffset animation. Note I am not using the animated property of the method, but instead enclosing the setContentOffset operation within a UIView animation block so I can have finer control. When I try to read the value of contentOffset in the middle of the animation, it returns the final value rather than the value at that moment. I know that you can use the presentationLayer to get the current layer, but is there any way you can get the current offset in the middle of an animation?

• How to configure a session timeout for Grails application?

  In one of controllers in my Grails application I'm preserving a parameter value in a session variable like this: session.myVariable = params.myValue After that, I can access the saved value from different controllers/GSP-pages as long as I actively use the app. However, if I don't use my app for a while, even though my browser window is still open, the session variable looses it's value. Does this happens because the session expires? I was under impression that a session lives until the browser window is still open, but apparently I was wrong. What should I do to ensure all session variables I define in my Grails app don't expire until the browser is closed? Is there any way to set session timeout manually?   Hi Guys, I have a requirement from a client with regards to user profile properties. The requirement is as follows: We would like to setup custom user profile properties such that these values are editable by individuals via their my site. When a user edits this user profile property value, it should not be immediately visible to other users that happen to go to the individual's my site, but rather go through an approval workflow. If the value submitted is approved the user profile property value is updated. As far as I know this is not possible. I do have a work around for this but I want to ensure that I haven't missed anything before going down this path. Thanks in Advance

  Hi There, I have a simple form in codeigniter that I wish to use for the editing or records. I am at the stage where my form is displayed and the values entered into the corresponding input boxes. This is done by simply setting the values of said boxes to whatever they need to be in the view: <input type="text" value="<?php echo $article['short_desc'];?>" name="short_desc" /> But, if I wish to use form_validation in codeigniter then I have to add thos code to my mark-up: <input value="<?php echo set_value('short_desc')?>" type="text" name="short_desc" /> So not the value can be set with the set_value function should it need to be repopulated on error from the post data. Is there a way to combine the two so that my edit form can show the values to be edited but also re-populate? Thanks

  I have the following property public MyType MyProperty {get;set;} I want to change this property so that if the value is null, it'll do populate the value first, and then return it... but without using a private member variable.   I am trying to understand the relation between TCP/IP and HTTP timeout values. Are these two timeout values different or same? Most Web servers allow users to set the HTTP Keep Alive timeout value through some configuration. How is this value used by the Web servers? is this value just set on the underlying TCP/IP socket i.e is the HTTP Keep Alive timeout and TCP/IP Keep Alive Timeout same? or are they treated differently? My understanding is (maybe incorrect): The Web server uses the default timeout on the underlying TCP socket (i.e. indefinite) and creates Worker thread that counts down the specified HTTP timeout interval. When the Worker thread hits zero, it closes the connection.

  I had a WPF DataGrid and use DataGridTextColumn Binding to a Collection. The items in Collection had some float property. When my program launched, I modify the value of float property in DataGrid, if I type a integer value, it works well. But if I type char . for a float value, char . can't be typed. I had to type all the numbers first, and then jump to the . position to type char . to finish my input. So how can I type . in my situation? Thanks.

  I have a problem, I have written a simple Media Player for Windows Phone 7 and can Play, Stop and control the Volume of a Video (loaded from a URI) however when I try to set the position, this causes the application to freeze. I have used both these lines, but either does not work: Player.Position = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, (int)Position.Value); Player.Position = TimeSpan.FromSeconds((int)(Position.Value)); I do have this event handler: void Player_MediaOpened(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Position.Maximum = Player.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalMilliseconds; } And have tried using the Seconds value, casting to Ints etc, however everytime I try to set the Position, the app freezes. The video otherwise plays normally - anyone know what the problem may be here?

  I'm looking for some best practice advice on enumerations and retrieving an associated string value. Given this: public enum SerialKillers { TedBundy, EdGein, AlbertFish, GeorgeBush } What is the best way to get a related string value of the name? Eg. "Ted Bundy", given that the string value may not match the representation in the enumeration. eg "George W Bush" My current thinking is function accepting an enum and returning a string, but would that not mean hard coding the string values (which I prefer not to do)? Is using a resources file where the string can be retrieved via the enumeration too heavy handed? Should I accept the fact I am going to Hell for victimising Ted Bundy by associating him with George Bush?

In my XAML file, I have a ListBox declared like this : <ListBox x:Name="lstDeck" Height="280" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Deck}" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem Content="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> In my view model, Deck is an ObservableCollection, so that binding directly displays the content of my collection. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?
