  In my form I have a hidden field: <input type="hidden" name="auth_token" value="<?php echo $auth_token; ?>"> This value is also stored in a session and a variable: $_SESSION['auth_token'] = hash('sha256', rand() . time() . $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']); # TODO: put this in a function $auth_token = $_SESSION['auth_token']; When the form is submitted the two values are compared. It's a basic form token. Should this be made into two functions or just one when refactored? set_form_token() and get_form_token(), get_form_token() returning the session value, then I can compare it in my main code. What is the proper way of doing this?

• Sorting a listview (Win32/C++)

  I'm trying to sort a listview when the user clicks on the column header. I am catching the LVN_COLUMNCLICK notification like so: case LVN_COLUMNCLICK: { NMLISTVIEW* pListView = (NMLISTVIEW*)lParam; BOOL test = ListView_SortItems ( m_hDuplicateObjectsList, ListViewCompareProc, pListView->iSubItem ); break; } However it seems to fail. My test variable is FALSE and my ListViewCompareProc never gets hit (it has a simple return 1 while I am trying to hit a debug point inside of it). Is there something I am missing for sorting a listview?

  I already wrote a random generator which take arguments a and b, where a is minimun and b is maximum value, like this randomGenerator(int a, int b) What I want to do next is: Using a loop, then generate unique number from a to b. Example: I want to have 8 unique numbers, int a = 1; int b = 10; int value; If I do the loop, there is a high % that same number will appear more than once. Any idea how to do it? My own way is: while(int i <= 8){ randomGenerator(a,b); // if value is not in array, then insert into array } I am stuck at the comment part. Is there any way to check if a variable is exists in an array?

• Syntax problem when checking for a file

  This piece of code has previously worked but I have C&P it to a new place and for some reason, it now won't work! <? $user_image = '/images/users/' . $_SESSION['id'] . 'a.jpg'; if (file_exists(realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . $user_image))) { echo '<img src="'.$user_image.'" alt="" />'; } else { echo '<img src="/images/users/small.jpg" alt="" />'; } ?> As you can see, I am checking for a file, if exists, showing it, if not, showing a placeholder. The $_SESSION['id'] variable does exist and is being used elsewhere within the script. Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks

• g++: how to specify preference of library path?

  I'm compiling a c++ program using g++ and ld. I have a .so library I want to be used during linking. However, a library of the same name exists in /usr/local/lib, and ld is choosing that library over the one I'm directly specifying. How can I fix this? For the examples below, my library file is /my/dir/libfoo.so.0. Things I've tried that don't work: my g++ command is "g++ -g -Wall -o my_binary -L/my/dir -lfoo bar.cpp" adding /my/dir to the beginning or end of my $PATH env variable adding /my/dir/libfoo.so.0 as an argument to g++ Thanks.

• Getting instance of a class in ArrayList

  I have a small problem with ArrayList. You see, I wish to get an instance of RenderNewHUD in my renderer class, which has a list of registered renderers. I did not want to create a variable for this due to limitations and awkwardness. Here is my code. RenderNewHUD hud = renderer.renderList.get(RenderNewHUD()); How exactly can I go along getting the instance of RenderNewHUD without creating a new instance? If you need any more of my code, just ask.   We have a script used for each .item: $(".item").each(function(){ item_link = "http://..."; block = $('.block', this); $.get(item_link, function(data) { var src = $('img.slide', data).attr('src'); block.html(src); }); }); item_link variable is uniquie for each query. There can be 100 .item or more. The problem is - server has limit on connections at the same time, that why some .item get var src, some not. The best solution is to use just one .get at the same time. I think there should be some counter, if .get is finished - it gives message "I'm finished, you can start" to the next .get and so on. How to do that? Thanks.

  So far I have: int SimplifyText(char chars[], int length) { //To lower for(int i=0; i<length; i++) { chars[i] = tolower(chars[i]); } This function simplifies the text in the first argument which is an array containing the number of characters as given in the second argument The requirements are: tolower all remove all non-alpha characters replace multiple whitespace by one blank. Any leading whitespace at the beginning of the array should be removed completely. The resulting number of characters should be returned as the value of the function. And the annoying part: Another array cannot appear in the function Cannot use strings, only char arrays. Cannot using G++'s extension for setting an array size using a variable. Oh and can't use regex :) I'm stuck with this, any help would be great. :)

• Jquery mobile function calls before Ajax Request end

  Here is my problem. When My Home page shows, I call the LoadUser functions, which on success, sets the globalUser variable with the returned json, and after it loads I call the alert function but it says globalUser is undefined. I have tried many other work arounds, but I always get the undefined mesage.   According to my understanding a default constructor initializes the state of the object to default values, so if i provide an explicit no-arg public constructor like this then how are the values of d and e still getting initialized to zero because in this case the default constructor is not invoked. public class B extends A{ private int d; private int e; public B() { System.out.println(d); System.out.println(e); } } EDIT:: The only thing default constructor does is call to super() then how come if i have a explicitly mentioned a constructor here and A has a protected variable say c which is initialized to 17 in its constructor. Should I not be explicitly calling super() to be able to see that change since I'm using my own constructor ? Why is B still getting the value of 17 through inheritance ?

  I want to know if a program that I am using and which requires a lot of memory is limited by the memory bandwidth. When do you expect this to happen? Did it ever happen to you in a real life scenario? How can I measure the memory bandwidth that a given program is using and how do I measure the (peak) bandwidth that my system can offer? I don't want to discuss any complicated cache issues here. I'm only interested in the communication between the CPU and the memory.

  We use JUnit 3 at work and there is no ExpectedException annotation.   While trying to answer this question I found that the code int* p = new int[10](); compiles fine with VC9 compiler and initializes the integers to 0. So my questions are: First of all is this valid C++ or is it a microsoft extension? Is it guaranteed to initialize all the elements of the array? Also, is there any difference if I do new int; or new int();? Does the latter guarantee to initialize the variable?

  I open a website with urlopen. I then put the website sourcecode into a variable like so source = website.read() When I just print the source it comes out formatted correctly, however when I try to iterate through each line each character is it's own line. for example when I just print it looks like this <HTML> title</html> When I do this for line in source: print line it looks like this < H T M L ... etc I need to find a string that starts with "var" and then print that entire line.

• Keeping Score in XNA Game

  Hi. I'm following an XNA tutorial and have the following code for collision detecting (detecting when a bullet collides with a target). Basically I'm looking to increment a score variable to display the score to the screen without re-writing the whole program. No matter where I place it in this method it seems to start incrementing from the number of targets, not from zero. Is there something simple I'm missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
