  • Regular expression - starting and ending with a letter, accepting only letters, numbers and _

    I'm trying to write a regular expression which specifies that text should start with a letter, every character should be a letter, number or underscore, there should not be 2 underscores in a row and it should end with a letter or number. At the moment, the only thing I have is ^[a-zA-Z]\w[a-zA-Z1-9_] but this doesn't seem to work properly since it only ever matches 3 characters, and allows repeated underscores. I also don't know how to specify requirements for the last character.

    I need to update a row with a formula based on the largest value of two DATETIME columns. I would normally do this: GREATEST(date_one, date_two) However, both columns are allowed to be NULL. I need the greatest date even when the other is NULL (of course, I expect NULL when both are NULL) and GREATEST() returns NULL when one of the columns is NULL. This seems to work: GREATEST(COALESCE(date_one, date_two), COALESCE(date_two, date_one)) But I wonder... am I missing a more straightforward method?

    Hi guys, I've got this table CREATE TABLE `subevents` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `title` varchar(150) DEFAULT NULL, `content` text, `class` tinyint(4) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1', PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM Each row can have a different value in the 'class' field. I'd like to select any number of rows, ordered randomly, as long as the sum of the values in the 'class' field is equal to 100. How could I accomplish it directly in the MySQL query without doing it later in PHP? Thanks everybody!

    Why is that when I search a row in my database, it ended up 0 results? In fact, there are rows that meet my search criterion when I view them manually, but the search button doesnt work as it is. Heres how you can see there are rows that have '0000-00-00 00:00:00' in them, but when I used the search feature, it ended up like this: take note that Im entering it in the right field which is 'AcctStopTime'.   • jQuery image loop not displaying any images

    I'm trying to create a very basic image gallery in jQuery. The goal is to have 3 images fade in and out in a sequential order. So image 1 is displayed, fades to image 2 etc. then the whole thing loops again.
