• deleted gen folder, eclipse isn't generating it now :(

  I accidentally deleted my gen folder and now, predictably, my resources are all messed up. I just created a gen folder myself and tried to project clean - that didn't work. Tried right-clicking project and going to android tools fix project properties - didn't work. Tried unchecking build automatically...didn't work. cleaned, closed project, closed eclipse, restarted, etc, etc. Nothing is working and I keep seeing this error: gen already exists but is not a source folder. Convert to a source folder or rename it. • How to start a process from another application and then open a terminal to that process in gnu scre

  I'd like to be able to launch a process from a GUI application (right now I'm thinking specifically of letting an eclipse user -- possibly via a plugin -- click a button to launch a build using my organization's build system). I don't want this process to stop when I stop the parent application, and I want to be able to "switch into it" later, as though I launched it from a command line. I've seen GNU screen described as good for most of what I'm asking for, but I'm not sure about the "launch the process from another application" part. Can this be done if the GUI application was itself launched from within screen? Can this be done if it wasn't? I'd be very interested in seeing how! Update: Prepending "screen" to a command line looks like a good way to start a process in screen from a shell, but I'm trying to find a way to do this without being taken straight into that session. I want to "send" the command to a screen session, where it will be started in a new window in that session.

• How would I go about building a calendar UI control for the iPhone/iPad?

  Hello. There are a few different 3rd party code frameworks that include calendar controls, but most of them have a lot of functionality I don't need, plus most of them lack sufficient documentation on how to use them and I'm not a proficient enough iPhone developer figure it out using just the code. So I'm going to attempt to build my own and I was hoping you could provide me with some high-level direction to get started. At a high level, how could I build a simple, calendar control that doesn't do much more than display a calendar (month view, with the current date highlighted) and allows the user to selected a date? Something that looks like the calendar in the upper right corner of this image... Thanks so much in advance for your help!

• Resources check

  hey I am frequently uploading my XCode iPhone projects to an svn repository to be build on another machine. My problem is that when I add resources to my project sometimes I forget to add the resource as relative to the project. I know one answer is to be more careful (not easy when your tired!) but if there was a way to run a script to check my resource paths are relative when I build and warn me if they are not it would be a great time saver for me. How would I go about doing this? Thanks Chris

  I'm passing an array of images (IplImage**) to an object in C++ using OpenCV. • "Ant all" not working for me

  I have got involved in a project. This project uses ant which is not something I am comfortable with. I have checked out the source code and tried running ant on the most outer directory. Running 'ant' in commando prompt takes 1 sec and I get a BUILD SUCCESFULL message. If I run 'ant all' I get a BUILD FAILED. Java.io.IOExceptio: Cannot run program "ant": CreateProcess=2, the system cannot find the file specified and then a long stacktrace. Most of the people on the project runs OS-X while I use Windows XP. Any help or information is appreciated :)

• While submitting app to iOS App Store, "Unable to unzip application"

  I've successfully submitted "Product Name" to App Store. However, submitting "Product Name Lite", I keep getting the error "Unable to unzip application" in both Application Loader and built-in Xcode's uploader. Error persists even after eliminating spaces from the product name; in fact, I don't think there's whitespace anywhere in the app or the plist anymore. What might be causing this "highly descriptive" error? I'm using Xcode 3.2.5. Attempting to clean, build, and build&archive did not help.

• Fastest method for SQL Server inserts, updates, selects from C# ASP.Net 2.0+

  Hi All, long time listener, first time caller. I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

• Find workspace location using ANT

  I'm working on a build script in the Flash Builder version of Eclipse. This build script needs to import launch configuration .launch files into the user's workspace. However there doesn't seem to be an available ANT var for determining the workspace location. While stepping through the available vars with intellisense I noticed that ${osgi.instance.area} does point to my current workspace but when I tried to echo it back in a running ant script it just spat out "${osgi.instance.area}" and not the path. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

• Cannot find maven dependency, mysterious jar files

  Hi, I am trying to build a simple war file which has a few jsps. However I am coming across an odd issue, for some reason during the packaging maven is pulling 4 jar files into the WEB-INF/lib. I have trimmed down all the fat from the pom file, and have grepped for any references to these jars without any success. I cannot figure out where maven is pulling them from. I tried 'mvn dependency:build-classpath' and the classpath is empty. Please help, these jars are corrupt and I cannot deploy this war file because of them. Thanks, natasha

  (using Python-Sphinx Documentation tool) I have a .txt log file I'd like to build into _build/html unaltered. What do I need to alter in conf.py, index.rst, etc. Here is the layout: src/ index.rst some_doc.rst somefile.txt How do I get somefile.txt into the html build? I tried adding a line like this to index.rst: Contents: .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 some_doc "somefile.txt" hoping it would work by magic, but no magic here! Assuming this is even possible, what would I put in some_doc.rst to refer/link to that file? Note Yes, I'm aware I could put it in /static and just be done with it, but that seems like a total hack, and ugly.

• "a valid provisioning file for this executable was not found" in XCode

  I'm trying to submit my second app to the App Store. I've followed all the instructions to the best of my knowledge, but I keep getting this error when I try to build and run: "a valid provisioning file for this executable was not found" I'm letting XCode auto select the profile automatically. The one I'd like to select is greyed out. But the dropdown selection in the Build tab of the Target window says "profile doesn't match application identifier" The other thing I don't get about this is that the selection dropdown shows "com.mycompany.myapp" and then "ABCDEDFG.com.mycompany.myapp" (both of those made up) so that I see they don't match. I have the unique identifier profile installed in the Organizer and in plist file. I'm totally confused. I have followed the instructions in my book a few times and just can't get it.

Unable to find the requested .Net Framework data provider" For instance, i've installed it , but i've also uninstalled old version, then installed new versions. In my project i simple copy Mysql dll into "bin" folder, then add a reference to that dll. I'm not sure is the corrected way... I need to have the "refreshed schema" to permit vs.net to build automatically my listview ... if i can't to "auto build" listview, i have to write all code by hand, and it is a too expensive work me :( What i'm wrong ? I know there are tools such as baksmali / smali to disassemble / re-assemble given classes.dex from .apk, but not sure limitation what could be modified from there on? I'm trying to add additional activity, to modify starting launcher activity (may be from androidmanifest.xml) from original apk, then re-pack and sign to make complete single .apk... all need to be done out of build time, no raw source or build structure visible, only .apk as input... ANY IDEA?

• CoreFoundation Lite on Linux and Android

  I would like to use Apple's CoreFoundation library on linux and android. The source code is available here, but there is very little documentation on how to build it on Linux. As far as I could figure out, building is done through a script called BuildCFLite. I grepped for DEPLOYMENT_TARGET ./CFUtilities.c:#if DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_MACOSX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_EMBEDDED || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX || DEPLOYMENT_TARGET_FREEBSD and Linux seems to be supported at first site by setting -DDEPLOYMENT_TARGET_LINUX, but some of the compiler flags in that script are not available on linux, so when I try to build I get an error. Does anybody have experience building the latest version of CoreFoundation for Linux? Also what are the dependencies for building CoreFoundation? Would it be feasible to use it in the Android NDK?

  when i click on Run it displays and error message: Starting GlassFish v3 Domain GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. /Volumes/Private/noname/Sites/projects/java/MyFirstServlet/nbproject/build-impl.xml:602: Deployment error: GlassFish v3 Domain start failed. See the server log for details. BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 minutes 0 seconds) but then i fire up Terminal in mac and use asadmin start-domain and it starts. and in netbeans i then Run the project and it fires up Safari and displays the content. but why cant glassfish start in netbeans? any idea?

Is it possible for me to build a program that says "hey, you just received an email, now run this ruby script"? Something like a GMail Web Hook. Is there anything out there like that?   There is a library in python that I love called requests. requests is a http client build on urllib3, top-notch :) (http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/) I am looking for something similar in ruby, basically what I need is : Upload files support (multipart/form-data) Easy get/post Cookies can be passed from a response object to a request object (build manually login script) Stable and Flexible Sessions support (to not have to handle cookies manually if we don't have too) I've looked at Typhoeus, but the code example in the home page doesn't work (they have moved code along and the get method is not longer directly accessible like that), so it's not starting well! :) Curb seems nice and I like curl, there is alson RestClient which seems popular and em-http seems pretty fast according to benchmark. There is a aso Patron and CurlFu which I haven't have the time to try. And of course Net:Http. But it doesn't seems to have a main stream solution that everyone point. I think a lot of people have been in my situation and I wonder what they have choosen and why?

  In the software world, it seems to me that SCM is an unfortunately overloaded acronym. It can mean:- Source Code Management Software Configuration Management Which one of these is the dominant term? Do they mean the same thing? To me Source Code Management is essentially synonymous with Version Control. Whereas Software Configuration Management is a larger subject, which potentially includes Build and Release Management as well. However looking on Wikipedia, it lists Subversion as a Software Configuration Management tool, which is at most only tangentially true. Build and Software Management has come up before, but nothing definitive has been said on the matter, unfortunately.

  I followed the Maven tutorial to the letter but I still can't get Maven installed. When I run the following in command prompt: E:\Documents and Settings\zach>mvn --version I get: 'mvn' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I navigated to the maven install folder and ran mvn --version and got: E:\java resources\apache-maven-2.2.0\bin>mvn --version ERROR: JAVA_HOME is set to an invalid directory. JAVA_HOME = "E:\Sun\SDK\jdk\bin" Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the location of your Java installation but when I run java -version I get: java version "1.6.0_14" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode) So I do have Java installed. Anyone know what the problem is?
