  • How to interpret Rackspace server diagnostics?

    We've been having some trouble lately with our site timing out during times of high traffic. We're working on a number of things to resolve it. During this process I came across our server diagnostics page on Rackspace, and it has the following line: The host server's load is: 0.08 0.08 0.03 1/204 2437 I couldn't find an explanation on their site or Google. Can anyone explain what these numbers mean? For I am a lowly programmer. Much appreciated, -Ben

    When the init process is executed when the kernel has loaded, does it read the /etc/inittab file in a top down approach i.e. it executes each line as it appears in the file. If so and based on my reading and understanding, does this mean that it enters the documented run level and then launch sysinit process or vice versa? For example the common examples I have seen are id:3:initdefault: # System initialization. si::sysinit:/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

    Looking at our Apache log I see normal requests like: 174.133.xxx.xxx - - [20/May/2010:17:36:44 -0700] "GET /index.html HTTP/1.1" 200 2004 but every so often i get a cluster of these w/out an IP address. ::1 - - [20/May/2010:18:47:21 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - ::1 - - [20/May/2010:18:47:22 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - ::1 - - [20/May/2010:18:47:23 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - what do they mean and curious what causes them?

  • How to modify IMM password from the default one?

    We cannot modify the default USERID/PASSW0RD on an IMM because when we try it modify the USERID's password with a logged in USERID user (that has the "max" rights) we get this message after clicking on "SAVE" (save the new password..) Could not modify password: *** Provider OSBase_AccountProvider(21770) exiting due to a SIGSEGV signal Our question: How can we modify the default password to something else?   • Is segfault signal always sent to application

    My application usually crashes and prints stack to log if received segfault signal. But in some environment the 'dmesg' shows segfault messages related to my application, but application uptime is much older. Can segfault be suppressed and application doesn't receive signal? Or what errors from dmesg can mean ?

  • HDD,CD,DVD - how is sector id distinguishable from data?

    Hi, as titles says, how is sector id on HDD,CD-ROM and so distinguishable from data? I mean, when I want lets say sector #52, first, head goes to track where this sector should be, than it must wait some time to spin the desired sector above the reading head. But it must somehow recognize that its sector number, and not only data that say 52. So, how is this done? Thanks.

    Need Help on the following questions. When a users login (on a computer in the network) is validated against AD what is/are the authentication method used? When a users login is validated in Windows NT environment (not AD) what is/are the authentication method used? If all user's account is on AD, is it possible to change the authentication mechanism only (or protocols) from AD to NT and vice versa (if possible)? If part/whole of question 3 is valid, where should one look to change these authentication methods ? What is the difference between AD and Windows-NT authentication ?     I am setting up an Exchange 2010 SP2 for a customer. However, the server address that the server returns with autodiscover is wrong, as it points to the internal domain (.local) - and not the external address. How do I change this? Here's an image to describe what I mean: It is the upper field that is wrong. I dont want users to enable the RPC over HTTP-thing, as the users know barely nothing about computers.     I have two ASA in a lan state primary\secondary configuration. None of them have "failover active" or "no failover active" in their configuration. Would it be proper to failover in a manner such as: Log into console of primary unit and issue "failover lan state secondary", log into the console of the original secondary unit and issue "failover lan state primary". To fail back simply reverse the process or Log into the console of the primary unit and issue "no failover active", log into the console of the original secondary unit and issue "failover active". To fail back issue "failover active" on the original primary (now secondary) unit, and "no failover active" on the now primary unit. I do not like the second method because it adds configuration directives that were not in place before. Will the first method work?

  • Sony Vegas: minimal audio glitches

    When doing video-editing with Sony Vegas, I noticed that it kind of produces minimal audio glitches very often. With glitch, I mean a copied fragment of approximately 1/2 second, as if I copied it and directly pasted it again. I'm assuming it must be something with puffers. Does anyone know of this problem? I have a pretty fast Windows 7 system with fast SATA drives.

    I have the apache2.0, PHP5.2.4 and the directive in the httpd.conf: AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .php .php3 .php4 .php5 .php6 AddType directive is used to maps the given filename extensions onto the specified content type. This is the only meaning of this directive. But why does this method switch off PHP handler, that assigned .php extensions, and I can view source code of scripts in my browser? And another: AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php Why does this method switch on PHP handler? This simply must send header "Content-Type: application/x-httpd-php5" to my browser and this must be only meaning of directive AddType from mod_mime. I'm confused. Thanks for your replies.
