  Consider My dynamically generated datatable contains the following fileds Id,Name,Mob1,Mob2 If my datatable has this it get inserted successfully, Id Name Mob1 Mob2 1 acp 9994564564 9568848526 But when it is like this it gets failed saying, Id Name Mob1 Mob2 1 acp 9994564564 The given value of type String from the data source cannot be converted to type decimal of the specified target column. • PowerPoint PlugIn does not read defaults from .dll.config file

  I'm working on a very simple PowerPoint plugin, and I'm quite a bit stumped. In my settings.settings file, I have configured a setting "StartPath", which references where the PowerPoint plugin will navigate to using a Browser component. After I compile the application, and run the installer generated by the Setup project, the application is installed and uses the default value in the settings file. However, if I edit the application.dll.config file, the plugin still uses the old values. How can I set things up such that the plugin references the .dll.config file and not its default settings? Func<Category, string> getCategoryName = new Func<Category, string>(c => c.Name); and this can be called as follows... string categoryName = getCategoryName(this.category); But, given only the resulting function above (or the expression originally used to create the function), can anybody provide an easy way to create the opposing action... Action<Category, string> setCategoryName = new Action<Category, string>((c, s) => c.Name = s); ...that will enable the same property value to be set as follows? setCategoryName(this.category, ""); Note that I am looking for a way to create the action programatically from the function or expression - I hope that I have shown that I already know how to create it manually.   In my code, I have used ArrayList which stores the number format like '$0.00 to $1,000,000.00' in each index of array list. while iterate in JSP through tag, its values are printing like $0.00 to $1 as a first string, 000 as a second string and 000.00 as a thrid string. but it has to print like '$0.00 to $1,000,000.00'. what will be the problem is? • Problem using delete[] (Heap corruption) when implementing operator+= (C++)

  I've been trying to figure this out for hours now, and I'm at my wit's end. I would surely appreciate it if someone could tell me when I'm doing wrong. I have written a simple class to emulate basic functionality of strings. The class's members include a character pointer data (which points to a dynamically created char array) and an integer strSize (which holds the length of the string, sans terminator.) Since I'm using new and delete, I've implemented the copy constructor and destructor. My problem occurs when I try to implement the operator+=. The LHS object builds the new string correctly - I can even print it using cout - but the problem comes when I try to deallocate the data pointer in the destructor: I get a "Heap Corruption Detected after normal block" at the memory address pointed to by the data array the destructor is trying to deallocate.   Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue.   Hi all, I have this generic routine that I wrote that takes a list of sql strings and executes them against the database. Is there any way I can make this work faster? Typically it'll see maybe 200 inserts or deletes or updates at a time. Sometimes there is a mixture of updates, inserts and deletes. Would it be a good idea to separate the queries by type (i.e. group inserts together, then updates and then deletes)? I am running this against an ms access database and using vb.net 2005.   Hi, I'd like to write a method that can accept a type param (or whatever the method can figure out the type from) and return a value of this type so I don't have to cast the return type. Here is a method: public Object doIt(Object param){ if(param instanceof String){ return "string"; }else if(param instanceof Integer){ return 1; }else{ return null; } } When I call this method, and pass in it a String, even if I know the return type will be a String I have to cast the return Object. This is similar to the int param. How shall I write this method to accept a type param, and return this type?

  This method that uses method-level generics, that parses the values from a custom POJO, JXlistOfKeyValuePairs (which is exactly that). The only thing is that both the keys and values in JXlistOfKeyValuePairs are Strings. This method wants to taken in, in addition to the JXlistOfKeyValuePairs instance, a Class<T> that defines which data type to convert the values to (assume that only Boolean, Integer and Float are possible). It then outputs a HashMap with the specified type for the values in its entries. • Simplest one-to-many Map case in Hibernate doesn't work in MySQL

In MySQL, there are two problems: First, it insists that there be a table called Members_Preferences, as if this were a many-to-many relationship. Second, it just doesn't work: since it never populates Members_Preferences, it never retrieves the Preferences. [My theory is, since I only use HSQL in memory-mode, it automatically creates Members_Preferences and never really has to retrieve the preferences map. In any case, either Hibernate has a huge bug in it or I'm doing something wrong.]

• Javascript, IE, Strings, and Performance problems

  Hey guys, So we have this product, and it's really slow in IE. We've already applied a lot of the practices advised by the IE guys themselves (like this, and this), and try to sacrifice clean code for performance in the critical parts like DOM manipulation. However, as you can see in this IE profiler screenshot.. Just "String" is the biggest offender. Almost 750ms of exclusive time. Does this mean IE is spending 750ms just instantiating Strings? I also read this stuff on the Opera dev blog: A build script can remove whitespace, comments, replace strings with Array lookups (to avoid MSIE creating a string object for every single instance of a string — even in conditions) But no more info regarding this. Anyone can clarify? It seems like IE has to create a full String instance every time you have " " in your code, which could explain this, but I don't know what the array lookup optimization would look like. BTW- we don't really do much of string concatenation anywhere in the code. The library we use is MooTools 1.2.4 Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thx

What can I do to get such an empty XML? I tried adding the nillable=true annotation to the elements however, this returns me an XML with the xsi:nil="true" which then causes my unmarshaller to ignore this. How do I achieve this?

• Is there a way for a user to disable an AlertDialog completely?

  In the app I'm making, I have an "if" statement where if two strings are saved to a certain string, an AlertDialog pops up. These strings will stay the same for some users, thus having this AlertDialog constantly pop up whenever they launch the activity where the ALertDialog is set to appear.   I have made an encryption function which encrypts a simple value and stores it in the database. Is there a reason I get all those question marks or a way to get rid of them?

UPDATE: When using the following the cast seams to work but when trying to loop with a foreach the data is lost. resultFromDb.ToList() as IEnumerable<BookedResource>; UPDATE 2: Im using entity frameworks generated model, model (edmx) is created from database, edmx include classes that reprecent the database tables. In database i have a history table for old BookedResource and it can happen that the user want to look at these and to get the old data from the database entity framework uses classes with the same name as the tables to receive data from db. So i receive the data from table HistoryBookedResource in HistoryBookedResource class. Because entity framework generate the partial classes with the properties i dont know if i can make them virtual and override. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

• Python inter-computer communication.

  This whole topic is way out of my depth, so forgive my imprecise question, but I have two computers both connected to one LAN. What I want is to be able to communicate one string between the two, by running a python script on the first (the host) where the string will originate, and a second on the client computer to retrieve the string. What is the most efficient way for an inexperienced programmer like me to achieve this?
