  • implementing the generic interface

    - by user845405
    Could any one help me on implementing the generic interface for this class. I want to be able to use the below Cache class methods through an interface. Thank you for the help!. public class CacheStore { private Dictionary<string, object> _cache; private object _sync; public CacheStore() { _cache = new Dictionary<string, object>(); _sync = new object(); } public bool Exists<T>(string key) where T : class { Type type = typeof(T); lock (_sync) { return _cache.ContainsKey(type.Name + key); } } public bool Exists<T>() where T : class { Type type = typeof(T); lock (_sync) { return _cache.ContainsKey(type.Name); } } public T Get<T>(string key) where T : class { Type type = typeof(T); lock (_sync) { if (_cache.ContainsKey(key + type.Name) == false) throw new ApplicationException(String.Format("An object with key '{0}' does not exists", key)); lock (_sync) { return (T)_cache[key + type.Name]; } } } public void Add<T>(string key, T value) { Type type = typeof(T); if (value.GetType() != type) throw new ApplicationException(String.Format("The type of value passed to cache {0} does not match the cache type {1} for key {2}", value.GetType().FullName, type.FullName, key)); lock (_sync) { if (_cache.ContainsKey(key + type.Name)) throw new ApplicationException(String.Format("An object with key '{0}' already exists", key)); lock (_sync) { _cache.Add(key + type.Name, value); } } } } Could any one help me on implementing the generic interface for this class. I want to be able to use the below Cache class methods through an interface.

  • How important is it for me to pool my connections?

    - by Rio Mango
    It has been suggested to me that I rearrange my code to "pool" my ADO connections. On each web page I would open one connection and keep using the same open connection. But someone else told me that was important 10 years ago but is not so important now. If I make, let's say, 5 db calls on a web posting, is it problematic to be using 5 separate connections that I open/close?

  • Set .aspx page title to that of an Eval

    - by user1860529
    I am trying to use an <%# Eval("name") %> to be the title of my page. I can't seem to figure out any solutions online. I have tried the other StackOverflow question but that did now work either. The page is a bio.aspx and on the site it is displayed as bio.aspx?id=123 so the page title needs to vary depending on the ID. I figured I could just use the Eval("name") but no luck yet. I currently am using JavaScript: window.onload = function() { document.title = '<%# Eval("name") %> | Title Line'; } This works, but it still leaves the title tags empty, and it's kind of spammy. Here is the codebehind: using System; using System.Data; using System.Configuration; using System.Collections; using System.Web; using System.Web.Security; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; public partial class DoctorBio : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Page.Title = "Your Page Title"; HtmlMeta metaDescription = new HtmlMeta(); metaDescription.Name = "description"; metaDescription.Content = "brief description"; Page.Header.Controls.Add(metaDescription); HtmlMeta metaKeywords = new HtmlMeta(); metaKeywords.Name = "keywords"; metaKeywords.Content = "keywords, keywords"; Page.Header.Controls.Add(metaKeywords); } protected void SetPageTitle(object title) { this.Title = title.ToString(); } protected string ReplaceLineBreaks(object text) { string newText = text as string; if (newText == null) { return string.Empty; } return newText.Replace("\r\n", "<br />"); } }

  • Fill business object from database by calling stored procedurs?

    - by grady
    Hello, I have several stored procedures in my database, some of them have params, some have no params. I tried to fill a business object by calling the stored procedures, but failed so far. How could I do that dynamically? Later, I want to use this object as a datasource for a report...but thats the next step. The important facts are: different stored procs return different amount of columns stored procs can have params, but its not required How could I achieve that? Thanks :)

  • How do I access a <form> that is not the master page <form>?

    - by VBCSharp
    Winforms developer converting to web developer. I know the part about the Master Page having the tag, what is not clear is if I can or can not have another in one of my content pages. I have been seeing both answers doing searches. I see yes you can if only one has runat=server. The thing is I have a that contains several radio buttons on a web page that has a master page. I have a .js file that has a function if I send the name into it, it will loop thru the controls in the form to see which one is selected and return the desired date horizon(MTD, QTD, YTD, etc.). When I run this on a non master page web page it works fine. However, when I run on a web page that has a master page I can't seem to get to the element. I tried getElementByID, I tried looping through the page elements, etc. Maybe I am going about this incorrectly and I hope someone can straighten me out. Here is the code from my .js file that may help explain what I am trying to do a little better. var frmDateRanges = document.getElementById(formFieldName); var chosen; var len = frmDateRanges.DateRanges.length; for(i=0;i<len;i++) { if(frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].checked) { chosen = frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].value; } } where formFieldName is an arguement that is passed into the function and DateRanges is the name value given to the radio buttons. In the button I call this function I have: onclick ="FunctionCall('frmDateRanges')" FunctionCall is just for description purposes, 'frmDateRanges' is the name and id given to the form action="" Thanks for the help as I am stumped at this point. If there is a better way to do this please let me know that as well.

  • Cruise control: should deployment be in tasks or publishers?

    - by Aligma
    I'm setting up a Cruise Control configuration for one project. I have an <msbuild> task under <tasks>. It seems that I have the option of putting my file deployment under either <tasks> or <publishers>. Logically I would think it should reside under <publishers> but none of the examples I have seen online work this way. Should deployment happen within in <tasks> or <publishers>?

  • How to reduce this IF-Else ladder in c#

    - by Rohit
    This is the IF -Else ladder which I have created to focus first visible control on my form.According to the requirement any control can be hidden on the form.So i had to find first visible control and focus it. if (ddlTranscriptionMethod.Visible) { ddlTranscriptionMethod.Focus(); } else if (ddlSpeechRecognition.Visible) { ddlSpeechRecognition.Focus(); } else if (!SliderControl1.SliderDisable) { SliderControl1.Focus(); } else if (ddlESignature.Visible) { ddlESignature.Focus(); } else { if (tblDistributionMethods.Visible) { if (chkViaFax.Visible) { chkViaFax.Focus(); } else if (chkViaInterface.Visible) { chkViaInterface.Focus(); } else if (chkViaPrint.Visible) { chkViaPrint.Focus(); } else { chkViaSelfService.Focus(); } } } Is there any other way of doing this. I thought using LINQ will hog the performance as i have to tranverse the whole page collection. I am deep on page which has masterpages.Please suggest.

  • Form with list of checkboxes (best practices)

    - by boris callens
    I have a view that allows the user to make a selection from an IEnumerable. The way I'm doing it now is to give each checkbox the id of the item and work with the form collection at the controller's side. I seem to remember there to be a better way but can't remember how anymore. Are there any better practices?

  • Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

    - by Attilah
    I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

  • Bind web user control property in markup

    - by Ian Levy
    I'm sure it's elementary but I can't figure it out. This does not work - the the binding expression is passed as string to the control: {<uc:usercontrol runtat="server" message='<%#Me.protectedVariable%>'/>} The code behind include a Page.Databind() call in page_load. But this does work: <uc:usercontrol runat="server" id="usercontrol1"/> And in code behind page_load: usercontrol1.message = Me.protectedVariable Do I have to bind from the code-behind? Is this a page life cycle issue?

  • Making A Dynaically Created Excel Report Downloadable

    - by Nick LaMarca
    I have 2 blocks of code, if someone could help me put them together I would get the functionality I am looking for. The first block of code downloads a gridview to excel using the download dialog I am looking for: Public Overloads Overrides Sub VerifyRenderingInServerForm(ByVal control As Control) ' Verifies that the control is rendered End Sub Private Sub ExportToExcel(ByVal filename As String, ByVal gv As GridView, ByVal numOfCol As Integer) Response.Clear() Response.Buffer = True Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", String.Format("attachment; filename={0}", filename)) Response.Charset = "" Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Dim sw As New StringWriter() Dim hw As New HtmlTextWriter(sw) gv.AllowPaging = False gv.DataBind() 'Change the Header Row back to white color gv.HeaderRow.Style.Add("background-color", "#FFFFFF") For i As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 gv.HeaderRow.Cells(i).Style.Add("background-color", "blue") gv.HeaderRow.Cells(i).Style.Add("color", "#FFFFFF") Next For i As Integer = 0 To gv.Rows.Count - 1 Dim row As GridViewRow = gv.Rows(i) 'Change Color back to white row.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.White For j As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 row.Cells(j).Style.Add("text-align", "center") Next 'Apply text style to each Row row.Attributes.Add("class", "textmode") 'Apply style to Individual Cells of Alternating Row If i Mod 2 <> 0 Then For j As Integer = 0 To numOfCol - 1 row.Cells(j).Style.Add("background-color", "#CCFFFF") row.Cells(j).Style.Add("text-align", "center") '#C2D69B 'row.Cells(j).Style.Add("font-size", "12pt") Next End If Next gv.RenderControl(hw) 'style to format numbers to string Dim style As String = "<style> .textmode { mso-number-format:\@; } </style>" Response.Write(style) Response.Output.Write(sw.ToString()) Response.Flush() Response.End() End Sub The second block of code is a sample report I am wish to be downloaded. So instead of downloading a gridview I want this function to accept a worksheet object.

  • Why is ServerVariables["HTTP_REFERER"] skipping a page?

    - by Aaron
    Here is my situation: Page1.aspx redirects to Page2.aspx which does some processing (does not display to the user) and then redirects to Page3.aspx which checks the ServerVariables["HTTP_REFERER"] or Request.UrlReferrer. I understand that the referring information can sometimes be blank and can't be entirely relied upon; however the ServerVariables["HTTP_REFERER"] or Request.UrlReferrer on Page3.aspx is showing Page1.aspx instead of Page2.aspx which I would have expected. Does the referring information only get set if the page displays to the user? Redirecting is done using Response.Redirect in order to change the URL in the address bar of the browser.

  • Two references to the same domain/entity model

    - by Sbossb
    Problem I want to save the attributes of a model that have changed when a user edits them. Here's what I want to do ... Retrieve edited view model Get domain model and map back updated value Call the update method on repository Get the "old" domain model and compare values of the fields Store the changed values (in JSON) into a table However I am having trouble with step number 4. It seems that the Entity Framework doesn't want to hit the database again to get the model with the old values. It just returns the same entity I have. Attempted Solutions I have tried using the Find() and the SingleOrDefault() methods, but they just return the model I currently have. Example Code private string ArchiveChanges(T updatedEntity) { //Here is the problem! //oldEntity is the same as updatedEntity T oldEntity = DbSet.SingleOrDefault(x => x.ID == updatedEntity.ID); Dictionary<string, object> changed = new Dictionary<string, object>(); foreach (var propertyInfo in typeof(T).GetProperties()) { var property = typeof(T).GetProperty(propertyInfo.Name); //Get the old value and the new value from the models var newValue = property.GetValue(updatedEntity, null); var oldValue = property.GetValue(oldEntity, null); //Check to see if the values are equal if (!object.Equals(newValue, oldValue)) { //Values have changed ... log it changed.Add(propertyInfo.Name, newValue); } } var ser = new System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer(); return ser.Serialize(changed); } public override void Update(T entityToUpdate) { //Do something with this string json = ArchiveChanges(entityToUpdate); entityToUpdate.AuditInfo.Updated = DateTime.Now; entityToUpdate.AuditInfo.UpdatedBy = Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name; base.Update(entityToUpdate); }

  • How does Response.Redirect calculate the URL for "~/folder1/folder2/some.aspx"

    - by Chris Marisic
    This might sound like a trivial problem but for some reason it is not. Instead of needing to redirect Response.Redirect("~/folder1/folder2/some.aspx") I need the location as if it behaved like string navigatingUrl = Response.Redirect("~/folder1/folder2/some.aspx") Trying to replicate this I started with string navigatingUrl = new Uri(HttpContext.Current.Request.Url, new Uri("~/folder1/folder2/some.aspx", UriKind.Relative)); This instead generates "http://www.fullRequestUrl/~/folder1/folder2/some.aspx"

  • The type or namespace name 'WebControls' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

    - by user1467175
    I encountered this error: The type or namespace name 'WebControls' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Source Error: Line 28: Login Login1 = (WebControls.Login)LoginView1.FindControl("Login1"); // here the error code Line 29: TextBox UserName = (TextBox)Login1.FindControl("UserName"); Line 30: TextBox FailureText = (TextBox)Login1.FindControl("FailureText"); I did some research and the solution was to add this into the source code: System.Web.UI.WebControls.Login but I have no idea where this code can be add into. At first I tried putting it as a namespace, but it was wrong. Anyone can tell me where should I place this code at?? EDIT protected void Login1_LoginError(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { //Login Login1 = (WebControls.Login).LoginView1.FindControl("Login1"); Login Login1 = (System.Web.UI.WebControls.Login)LoginView1.FindControl("Login1"); TextBox UserName = (TextBox)Login1.FindControl("UserName"); TextBox FailureText = (TextBox)Login1.FindControl("FailureText"); //There was a problem logging in the user //See if this user exists in the database MembershipUser userInfo = Membership.GetUser(UserName.Text); if (userInfo == null) { //The user entered an invalid username... FailureText.Text = "There is no user in the database with the username " + UserName.Text; } else { //See if the user is locked out or not approved if (!userInfo.IsApproved) { FailureText.Text = "When you created your account you were sent an email with steps to verify your account. You must follow these steps before you can log into the site."; } else if (userInfo.IsLockedOut) { FailureText.Text = "Your account has been locked out because of a maximum number of incorrect login attempts. You will NOT be able to login until you contact a site administrator and have your account unlocked."; } else { //The password was incorrect (don't show anything, the Login control already describes the problem) FailureText.Text = string.Empty; } } }
