  • LinqToSQL Double Insert issue

    I have a WCF service with an object structure similar to this: public class MyClass { public List<MySubItem> SubItems { get; set; } } public class MySubItem { public List<MySubSubItem> SubSubItems { get; set; } } public class MySubSubItem { public string DataValue { get; set; } } public class MyClassDAL { public void InsertMyClass(MyClass myClass) { ctx.MyClasses.InsertOnSubmit(myClass); ctx.SubmitChanges(); } } Sometimes my client will call in with a MyClass that submits only half of the values that it has in the list SubSubItems. Later it calls the insert with the rest of the list. The problem is that when it does this I get a Primary Key violation. The reason is that it is trying to insert the MySubItem again (because there are more items in the SubSubItems owned by the same MySubItem object). How do I deal with this? Do I just call an Update? Do I have to try to separate them out (updates from inserts)? SQL Server 2008 has a really cool Merge functionally. Is there some way to access that from LinqToSQL?

It's the same value if I use scrollHeight or offsetHeight. It's the correct height in Firefox. Before I patch this by just dividing the IE value /2, what's the right way to do this?

  • Reading string value from Excel with HSSF but it's double

    Hi, I'm using HSSF-POI for reading excel data. The problem is I have values in a cell that look like a number but really are strings. If I look at the format cell in Excel, it says the type is "text". Still the HSSF Cell thinks it's numeric. How can I get the value as a string? If I try to use cell.getRichStringValue, I get exception; if cell.toString, it's not the exact same value as in Excel sheet. Thanks! edit: until this gets resolved, I'll use new BigDecimal(cell.getNumericCellValue()).toString()

  • Bit shift and pointer oddities in C, looking for explanations

    Hi all, I discovered something odd that I can't explain. If someone here can see what or why this is happening I'd like to know. What I'm doing is taking an unsigned short containing 12 bits aligned high like this: 1111 1111 1111 0000 I then want to shif the bits so that each byte in the short hold 7bits with the MSB as a pad. The result on what's presented above should look like this: 0111 1111 0111 1100 What I have done is this: unsigned short buf = 0xfff; //align high buf <<= 4; buf >>= 1; *((char*)&buf) >>= 1; This gives me something like looks like it's correct but the result of the last shift leaves the bit set like this: 0111 1111 1111 1100 Very odd. If I use an unsigned char as a temporary storage and shift that then it works, like this: unsigned short buf = 0xfff; buf <<= 4; buf >>= 1; tmp = *((char*)&buf); *((char*)&buf) = tmp >> 1; The result of this is: 0111 1111 0111 1100 Any ideas what is going on here?

  • Passing pointer position to an object in Java.

    I've got a JPanel class called Board with a static subclass, MouseHanlder, which tracks the mouse position along the appropriate listener in Board. My Board class has fields pointerX and pointerY. How do i pass the e.getX() and e.getY() from the MouseHandler subclass to its super class JPanel? I tried with getters, setters, super, and cant get the data transfer between subclass and parent class. I'm certain it's a concept issue, but im stuck. Thanks!

    I was browsing my teacher's code when I stumbled across this: Order* order1 = NULL; then order1 = order(customer1, product2); which calls Order* order(Customer* customer, Product* product) { return new Order(customer, product); } This looks like silly code. I'm not sure why, but the teacher initialized all pointers to NULL instead of declaring them right away(looking at the code it's entirely possible, but he chose not to). My question is: is this good or acceptable code? Does the function call have any benefits over calling a constructor explicitely? And how does new work in this case? Can I imagine the code now as kind of like: order1 = new Order(customer, product);

  • Komodo Double Indentation with Tab

    In Komodo Edit, if I name the file *.django.html it gives me django syntax highlighting BUT it also indents with a tab character (8 spaces) instead of giving me the usual 4 space indent. How can I fix this? I've tried changing the value in Edit Preferences Editor Indentation Language Settings, but that seems to have no effect on it. The indentation works as normal (4 spaces) if I'm using any other extension (.py, .html, etc.). Ideas?

    Hi all I might be looking at this the wrong way, but I have a form that does its thing (sends emails etc etc) but I also put in some code to make a simple flatfile csv log with some of the user entered details. If a user accidentally puts in for instance 'himynameis","bob' this would either break the csv row (because the quotes weren't encapsulated) or if I use htmlspecialchars() and stripslashes() on the data, I end up with a ugly data value of 'himynameis&quot;,&quot;bob'.     Since I'm pretty new this question'll certainly sound stupid but I have no idea about how to approach this. I'm trying take a list of nodes and for each of the nodes I want to create an array of predecessors and successors in the ordered array of all nodes. Currently my code looks like this: nodes = self.peers.keys() nodes.sort() peers = {} numPeers = len(nodes) for i in nodes: peers[i] = [self.coordinator] for i in range(0,len(nodes)): peers[nodes[i%numPeers]].append(nodes[(i+1)%numPeers]) peers[nodes[(i+1)%numPeers]].append(nodes[i%numPeers]) # peers[nodes[i%numPeers]].append(nodes[(i+4)%numPeers]) # peers[nodes[(i+4)%numPeers]].append(nodes[i%numPeers]) The last two lines should later be used to create a skip graph, but that's not really important. The problem is that it doesn't really work reliably, sometimes a predecessor or a successor is skipped, and instead the next one is used, and so forth. Is this correct at all or is there a better way to do this? Basically I need to get the array indices with certain offsets from each other. Any ideas?

  • How to get rid of the double scroll bar problem when using an iframe

    I've seen this problem on the web, and all the suggested solutions aren't working for me, so I thought I'd come here. I have a page that has an iframe. The top of the page is a dropdown menu, the rest of the page is the iframe. The idea like I'm sure everybody else does, is to have the menu stay stationary and the menu selection runs an application in the iframe. The contents of the iframe should scroll, but the page as a whole should not. I've tried putting the iframe width=height=100% inside a single table element also with width=height=100% but I get two scrollbars if I make the window too short vertically. Any suggestions?
