  • Are Fortran control characters (carriage control) still implemented in compilers?

    - by CmdrGuard
    In the book Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, there is much talk given to the importance of recognizing that the first column in a format statement is reserved for control characters. I've also seen control characters referred to as carriage control on the internet. To avoid confusion, by control characters, I refer to the characters "1, a blank (i.e. \s), 0, and +" as having an effect on the vertical spacing of output when placed in the first column (character) of a FORMAT statement. Also, see this text-only web page written entirely in fixed-width typeface : Fortran carriage-control (because nothing screams accuracy and antiquity better than prose in monospaced font). I found this page and others like it to be not quite clear. According to Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, failure to recall that the first column is reserved for carriage control can lead to horrible unintended output. Paraphrasing Dave Barry, type the wrong character, and nuclear missiles get fired at Norway. However, when I attempt to adhere to this stern warning, I find that gfortran has no idea what I'm talking about. Allow me to illustrate my point with some example code. I am trying to print out the number Pi: PROGRAM test_format IMPLICIT NONE REAL :: PI = 2 * ACOS(0.0) WRITE (*, 100) PI WRITE (*, 200) PI WRITE (*, 300) PI 100 FORMAT ('1', "New page: ", F11.9) 200 FORMAT (' ', "Single Space: ", F11.9) 300 FORMAT ('0', "Double Space: ", F11.9) END PROGRAM test_format This is the output: 1New page: 3.141592741 Single Space: 3.141592741 0Double Space: 3.141592741 The "1" and "0" are not typos. It appears that gfortran is completely ignoring the control character column. My question, then, is this: Are control characters still implemented in standards compliant compilers or is gfortran simply not standards compliant? For clarity, here is the output of my gfortran -v Using built-in specs. • Temporary non-const istream reference in constructor (C++)

    - by Christopher Bruns
    It seems that a constructor that takes a non-const reference to an istream cannot be constructed with a temporary value in C++. #include <iostream> #include <sstream> using namespace std; class Bar { public: explicit Bar(std::istream& is) {} }; int main() { istringstream stream1("bar1"); Bar bar1(stream1); // OK on all platforms // compile error on linux, Mac gcc; OK on Windows MSVC Bar bar2(istringstream("bar2")); return 0; } This compiles fine with MSVC, but not with gcc. Using gcc I get a compile error: g++ test.cpp -o test test.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: test.cpp:18: error: no matching function for call to ‘Bar::Bar(std::istringstream)’ test.cpp:9: note: candidates are: Bar::Bar(std::istream&) test.cpp:7: note: Bar::Bar(const Bar&) Is there something philosophically wrong with the second way (bar2) of constructing a Bar object? It looks nicer to me, and does not require that stream1 variable that is only needed for a moment.

  • Is it normal for C++ static initialization to appear twice in the same backtrace?

    - by Joseph Garvin
    I'm trying to debug a C++ program compiled with GCC that freezes at startup. GCC mutex protects function's static local variables, and it appears that waiting to acquire such a lock is why it freezes. How this happens is rather confusing. First module A's static initialization occurs (there are __static_init functions GCC invokes that are visible in the backtrace), which calls a function Foo(), that has a static local variable. The static local variable is an object who's constructor calls through several layers of functions, then suddenly the backtrace has a few ??'s, and then it's is in the static initialization of a second module B (the __static functions occur all over again), which then calls Foo(), but since Foo() never returned the first time the mutex on the local static variable is still set, and it locks. How can one static init trigger another? My first theory was shared libraries -- that module A would be calling some function in module B that would cause module B to load, thus triggering B's static init, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Module A doesn't use module B at all. So I have a second (and horrifying) guess. Say that: Module A uses some templated function or a function in a templated class, e.g. foo<int>::bar() Module B also uses foo<int>::bar() Module A doesn't depend on module B at all At link time, the linker has two instances of foo<int>::bar(), but this is OK because template functions are marked as weak symbols... At runtime, module A calls foo<int>::bar, and the static init of module B is triggered, even though module B doesn't depend on module A! Why? Because the linker decided to go with module B's instance of foo::bar instead of module A's instance at link time. Is this particular scenario valid? Or should one module's static init never trigger static init in another module?

  • Compiling scipy on Windows 32-bit

    - by Sridhar Ratnakumar
    Has anyone tried compiling SciPy on Windows using numpy-1.3.0 that was built with the pre-built ATLAS libraries (atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2.zip) linked in the installation document. I get the following linker error, and have no ideas as to how to fix this issue. $ python setup.py config --compiler=mingw32 build --compiler=mingw32 install --root=i [...] creating build\temp.win32-2.6\Release creating build\temp.win32-2.6\Release\scipy creating build\temp.win32-2.6\Release\scipy\integrate compile options: '-DNO_ATLAS_INFO=2 -I"C:\Documents and Settings\apy\Application Data\Python\Python26\site-packages\numpy\core\inc lude" -IC:\Python26\include -IC:\Python26\PC -c' gcc -mno-cygwin -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -DNO_ATLAS_INFO=2 -I"C:\Documents and Settings\apy\Application Data\Python\Python26\ site-packages\numpy\core\include" -IC:\Python26\include -IC:\Python26\PC -c scipy\integrate\_odepackmo dule.c -o build\temp.win32-2.6\Release\scipy\integrate\_odepackmodule.o C:\MinGW\bin\g77.exe -g -Wall -mno-cygwin -g -Wall -mno-cygwin -shared build\temp.win32-2.6\Release\scipy\integrate\_odepackmodule .o -LC:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2 -LC:\MinGW\lib -LC:\MinGW\lib\gcc\mingw32\3.4.5 -LC:\Python26\libs -LC:\Act ivePython32Python26\PCbuild -Lbuild\temp.win32-2.6 -lodepack -llinpack_lite -lmach -latlas -lcblas -lf77blas -llapack -lpython26 - lg2c -o build\lib.win32-2.6\scipy\integrate\_odepack.pyd C:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2/libf77blas.a(ATL_F77wrap_daxpy.o):ATL_F77wrap_axpy.c:(.text+0x3c): undefined reference to `ATL _daxpy' C:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2/libf77blas.a(ATL_F77wrap_dscal.o):ATL_F77wrap_scal.c:(.text+0x26): undefined reference to `ATL _dscal' C:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2/libf77blas.a(ATL_F77wrap_dcopy.o):ATL_F77wrap_copy.c:(.text+0x3d): undefined reference to `ATL _dcopy' C:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2/libf77blas.a(ATL_F77wrap_idamax.o):ATL_F77wrap_amax.c:(.text+0x1e): undefined reference to `AT L_idamax' C:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2/libf77blas.a(ATL_F77wrap_ddot.o):ATL_F77wrap_dot.c:(.text+0x36): undefined reference to `ATL_d dot' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status error: Command "C:\MinGW\bin\g77.exe -g -Wall -mno-cygwin -g -Wall -mno-cygwin -shared build\temp.win32-2.6\Release\scipy\integrat e\_odepackmodule.o -LC:\atlas3.6.0_WinNT_P4SSE2 -LC:\MinGW\lib -LC:\MinGW\lib\gcc\mingw32\3.4.5 -LC:\Python 26\libs -LC:\Python26\PCbuild -Lbuild\temp.win32-2.6 -lodepack -llinpack_lite -lmach -latlas -lcblas -lf77blas -llap ack -lpython26 -lg2c -o build\lib.win32-2.6\scipy\integrate\_odepack.pyd" failed with exit status 1 Does anyone know what could have gone wrong here?

  • Calling SDL/OpenGL from Assembly code on Linux

    - by Lie Ryan
    I'm write a simple graphic-based program in Assembly for learning purpose; for this, I intended to use either OpenGL or SDL. I'm trying to call OpenGL/SDL's function from assembly. The problem is, unlike many assembly and OpenGL/SDL tutorials I found in the internet, the OpenGL/SDL in my machine apparently doesn't use C calling convention. I wrote a simple program in C, compile it to assembly (using -S switch), and apparently the assembly code that is generated by GCC calls the OpenGL/SDL functions by passing parameters in the registers instead of being pushed to the stack. Now, the question is, how do I determine how to pass arguments to these OpenGL/SDL functions? That is, how do I figure out which argument corresponds to which registers? Obviously since GCC can compile C code to call OpenGL/SDL, so therefore there must be a way to figure out the correspondence between function arguments and registers. In C calling conventions, the rule is easy, push parameters backwards and return value in eax/rax, I can simply read their C documentation and I can easily figure out how to pass the parameters. But how about these? Is there a way to call OpenGL/SDL using C calling convention? btw, I'm using yasm, with gcc/ld as the linker on Gentoo Linux amd64.

  • Inheritance inside a template - public members become invisible?

    - by Juliano
    I'm trying to use inheritance among classes defined inside a class template (inner classes). However, the compiler (GCC) is refusing to give me access to public members in the base class. Example code: template <int D> struct Space { struct Plane { Plane(Space& b); virtual int& at(int y, int z) = 0; Space& space; /* <= this member is public */ }; struct PlaneX: public Plane { /* using Plane::space; */ PlaneX(Space& b, int x); int& at(int y, int z); const int cx; }; int& at(int x, int y, int z); }; template <int D> int& Space<D>::PlaneX::at(int y, int z) { return space.at(cx, y, z); /* <= but it fails here */ }; Space<4> sp4; The compiler says: file.cpp: In member function ‘int& Space::PlaneX::at(int, int)’: file.cpp:21: error: ‘space’ was not declared in this scope If using Plane::space; is added to the definition of class PlaneX, or if the base class member is accessed through the this pointer, or if class Space is changed to a non-template class, then the compiler is fine with it. I don't know if this is either some obscure restriction of C++, or a bug in GCC (GCC versions 4.4.1 and 4.4.3 tested). Does anyone have an idea?

  • How do I install websocket module for Node.js on Debian VPS?

    - by Ollie Shaw
    I currently am renting a VPS from Dreamhost which runs Debian. I am still learning command line on this OS, but fast! I have successfully installed Node.js, now I want to install the websocket module found here: https://github.com/Worlize/WebSocket-Node From the root user, I have run the following command: npm install websocket The error thrown is: [websocket v1.0.7] Native code compile failed!! On Windows, native extensions require Visual Studio and Python. On Unix, native extensions require Python, make and a C++ compiler. Start npm with --websocket:verbose to show compilation output (if any). What commands should I issue to install this websocket module and its requirements? Thanks very much! Edit: When I run sudo apt-get install gcc make I get this message: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done gcc is already the newest version. gcc set to manually installed. make is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 44 not upgraded. And the same error when trying to install WebSocket.

  • program won't find math.h anymore

    After a long time, I downloaded a program I co-developed and tried to recompile it on my Ubuntu Linux 12.04, but it seems it does not find math.h anymore. This may be because something has changed recently in gcc, but I can't figure out if it's something wrong in src/Makefile.am or a missing dependency: Download from http://www.ub.edu/softevol/variscan/: tar xzf variscan-2.0.2.tar.gz cd variscan-2.0.2/ make distclean sh ./autogen.sh make I get: [...] gcc -DNDEBUG -O3 -W -Wall -ansi -pedantic -lm -o variscan variscan.o statistics.o common.o linefile.o memalloc.o dlist.o errabort.o dystring.o intExp.o kxTok.o pop.o window.o free.o output.o readphylip.o readaxt.o readmga.o readmaf.o readhapmap.o readxmfa.o readmav.o ran1.o swcolumn.o swnet.o swpoly.o swref.o statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_D': statistics.c:(.text+0x497): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_F': statistics.c:(.text+0x569): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_D_star': statistics.c:(.text+0x63b): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_and_Li_F_star': statistics.c:(.text+0x75c): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Tajima_D': statistics.c:(.text+0x85d): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o:statistics.c:(.text+0xcb1): more undefined references to `sqrt' follow statistics.o: In function `calcRunMode21Stats': statistics.c:(.text+0xe02): undefined reference to `log' statistics.o: In function `correctedDivergence': statistics.c:(.text+0xe5a): undefined reference to `log' statistics.o: In function `calcRunMode22Stats': statistics.c:(.text+0x104a): undefined reference to `sqrt' statistics.o: In function `calculate_Fu_fs': statistics.c:(.text+0x11a8): undefined reference to `fabsl' statistics.c:(.text+0x11ca): undefined reference to `powl' statistics.c:(.text+0x11f2): undefined reference to `logl' statistics.o: In function `calculateStatistics': statistics.c:(.text+0x13f2): undefined reference to `log' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [variscan] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/avilella/variscan/latest/variscan-2.0.2/src' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 The libraries are there because this simple example works perfectly well: $ gcc test.c -o test -lm $ cat test.c #include <stdio.h> #include <math.h> int main(void) { double x = 0.5; double result = sqrt(x); printf("The hyperbolic cosine of %lf is %lf\n", x, result); return 0; } Any ideas?

  • Thread-safty of boost RNG

    - by Maciej Piechotka
    I have a loop which should be nicely pararellized by insering one openmp pragma: boost::normal_distribution<double> ddist(0, pow(retention, i - 1)); boost::variate_generator<gen &, BOOST_TYPEOF(ddist)> dgen(rng, ddist); // Diamond const std::uint_fast32_t dno = 1 << i - 1; // #pragma omp parallel for for (std::uint_fast32_t x = 0; x < dno; x++) for (std::uint_fast32_t y = 0; y < dno; y++) { const std::uint_fast32_t diff = size/dno; const std::uint_fast32_t x1 = x*diff, x2 = (x + 1)*diff; const std::uint_fast32_t y1 = y*diff, y2 = (y + 1)*diff; double avg = (arr[x1][y1] + arr[x1][y2] + arr[x2][y1] + arr[x2][y2])/4; arr[(x1 + x2)/2][(y1 + y2)/2] = avg + dgen(); } (unless I make an error each execution does not depend on others at all. Sorry that not all of code is inserted). However my question is - are boost RNG thread-safe? They seems to refer to gcc code for gcc so even if gcc code is thread-safe it may not be the case for other platforms.

  • Macro to improve callback registration readability

    - by Warren Seine
    I'm trying to write a macro to make a specific usage of callbacks in C++ easier. All my callbacks are member functions and will take this as first argument and a second one whose type inherits from a common base class. The usual way to go is: register_callback(boost::bind(&my_class::member_function, this, _1)); I'd love to write: register_callback(HANDLER(member_function)); Note that it will always be used within the same class. Even if typeof is considered as a bad practice, it sounds like a pretty solution to the lack of __class__ macro to get the current class name. The following code works: typedef typeof(*this) CLASS; boost::bind(& CLASS :: member_function, this, _1)(my_argument); but I can't use this code in a macro which will be given as argument to register_callback. I've tried: #define HANDLER(FUN) \ boost::bind(& typeof(*this) :: member_function, this, _1); which doesn't work for reasons I don't understand. Quoting GCC documentation: A typeof-construct can be used anywhere a typedef name could be used. My compiler is GCC 4.4, and even if I'd prefer something standard, GCC-specific solutions are accepted.

  • A trivial Python SWIG error question

    - by Alex
    I am trying to get Python running with swig to do C/C++. I am running the tutorial here, 'building a python module'. When I do the call gcc -c example.c example_wrap.c -I /my_correct_path/python2.5 I get an error: my_correct_path/python2.5/pyport.h:761:2: error: #error "LONG_BIT definition appears wrong for platform (bad gcc/glibc config?)." example_wrap.c: In function 'SWIG_Python_ConvertFunctionPtr': example_wrap.c:2034: warning: initialization discards qualifiers from pointer target type example_wrap.c: In function 'SWIG_Python_FixMethods': example_wrap.c:3232: warning: initialization discards qualifiers from pointer target type It actually does create an example.o file, but it doesn't work. I am using python2.5 not 2.1 as in the example, is this a problem? The error (everything else is just a 'warning') says something about wrong platform. This is a 64bit machine; is this a problem? Is my gcc configured wrong for my machine? How do I get past this? UPDATE: I am still having problems. How do I actually implement this "fix"?

  • How is the C++ synthesized move constructor affected by volatile and virtual members?

    - by user1827766
    Look at the following code: struct node { node(); //node(const node&); //#1 //node(node&&); //#2 virtual //#3 ~node (); node* volatile //#4 next; }; main() { node m(node()); //#5 node n=node(); //#6 } When compiled with gcc-4.6.1 it produces the following error: g++ -g --std=c++0x -c -o node.o node.cc node.cc: In constructor node::node(node&&): node.cc:3:8: error: expression node::next has side-effects node.cc: In function int main(): node.cc:18:14: note: synthesized method node::node(node&&) first required here As I understand the compiler fails to create default move or copy constructor on line #6, if I uncomment either line #1 or #2 it compiles fine, that is clear. The code compiles fine without c++0x option, so the error is related to default move constructor. However, what in the node class prevents default move constructor to be created? If I comment any of the lines #3 or #4 (i.e. make the destructor non-virtual or make data member non-volatile) it compiles again, so is it the combination of these two makes it not to compile? Another puzzle, line #5 does not cause an compilation error, what is different from line #6? Is it all specific for gcc? or gcc-4.6.1?

  • Has anyone ever had OpenCV work with Python 2.7 on MacOS 10.6?

    - by ?????
    I've been trying on and off for the past 6 months to get OpenCV to work with Python on MacOS. Every time there's a new release, I try again and fail. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit, and both the xcode gcc and gcc installed via macports. I just spend the past two days on it, hopeful that the latest OpenCV release, that appears to include Python support directly would work. It doesn't. I've also tried and failed to use this: http://code.google.com/p/pyopencv/ I've been using OpenCV with C++ or Microsoft C++/CLI for the past few years, but I'd love to use it with Python on a Mac because that is my primary development environment. I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually been able to get the opencv python examples to run under Mac OS 10.6, either 32 or 64-bit. My last attempt was to follow the instructions on this page http://recursive-design.com/blog/2010/12/14/face-detection-with-osx-and-python/ with a clean, fresh install of 10.6 on a 64-bit capable Mac. My PYTHONPATH is set, and I can see the cv library in it. But an "import cv" from python fails. Previously, the closest I've ever gotten (again, staring on a clean, fresh 10.6 install) was this: Python 2.7.1 (r271:86882M, Nov 30 2010, 10:35:34) [GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5664)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import cv Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?) Abort trap thrilllap-2:~ swirsky$ I've seen a lot of folks answering similar questions here, but have never seen an definitive answer for it.

  • Connector/C++ compile error

    - by rizzo0917
    When I compile code that includes Connector/C++ headers, I get the following errors: c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:27: error: 'int8_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef signed char int8_t' c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:31: error: 'int32_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef int int32_t' c:\qt\2010.03\mingw\bin../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.4.0/../../../../include/stdint.h:32: error: 'uint32_t' has a previous declaration as 'typedef unsigned int uint32_t' Literally all I do is this: #include <cppconn/driver.h> #include <cppconn/exception.h> #include <cppconn/resultset.h> #include <cppconn/statement.h> #include <cppconn/prepared_statement.h> Now I can go into the file and comment the lines out that give me errors: //typedef signed char int8_t; //typedef int int32_t; //typedef unsigned uint32_t; It compiles, but when I try to run the mysql code: sql::Driver *driver; driver = get_driver_instance(); I get this output test.exe exited with code -1073741515 Any Ideas?

  • Python bindings for a vala library

    - by celil
    I am trying to create python bindings to a vala library using the following IBM tutorial as a reference. My initial directory has the following two files: test.vala using GLib; namespace Test { public class Test : Object { public int sum(int x, int y) { return x + y; } } } test.override %% headers #include <Python.h> #include "pygobject.h" #include "test.h" %% modulename test %% import gobject.GObject as PyGObject_Type %% ignore-glob *_get_type %% and try to build the python module source test_wrap.c using the following code build.sh #/usr/bin/env bash valac test.vala -CH test.h python /usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/h2def.py test.h > test.defs pygobject-codegen-2.0 -o test.override -p test test.defs > test_wrap.c However, the last command fails with an error $ ./build.sh Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/codegen.py", line 1720, in <module> sys.exit(main(sys.argv)) File "/usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/codegen.py", line 1672, in main o = override.Overrides(arg) File "/usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/override.py", line 52, in __init__ self.handle_file(filename) File "/usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/override.py", line 84, in handle_file self.__parse_override(buf, startline, filename) File "/usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/override.py", line 96, in __parse_override command = words[0] IndexError: list index out of range Is this a bug in pygobject, or is something wrong with my setup? What is the best way to call code written in vala from python? EDIT: Removing the extra line fixed the current problem, but now as I proceed to build the python module, I am facing another problem. Adding the following C file to the existing two in the directory: test_module.c #include <Python.h> void test_register_classes (PyObject *d); extern PyMethodDef test_functions[]; DL_EXPORT(void) inittest(void) { PyObject *m, *d; init_pygobject(); m = Py_InitModule("test", test_functions); d = PyModule_GetDict(m); test_register_classes(d); if (PyErr_Occurred ()) { Py_FatalError ("can't initialise module test"); } } and building with the following script build.sh #/usr/bin/env bash valac test.vala -CH test.h python /usr/share/pygobject/2.0/codegen/h2def.py test.h > test.defs pygobject-codegen-2.0 -o test.override -p test test.defs > test_wrap.c CFLAGS="`pkg-config --cflags pygobject-2.0` -I/usr/include/python2.6/ -I."   • Do classes which have a vector has a member have memory issues

    - by user263766
    I am just starting out C++, so sorry if this is a dumb question. I have a class Braid whose members are vectors. I have not written an assignment operator. When I do a lot of assignments to an object of the type Braid, I run into memory issues :- 0 0xb7daff89 in _int_malloc () from /lib/libc.so.6 #1 0xb7db2583 in malloc () from /lib/libc.so.6 #2 0xb7f8ac59 in operator new(unsigned int) () from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 #3 0x0804d05e in __gnu_cxx::new_allocator<int>::allocate (this=0xbf800204, __n=1) at /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/../../../../include/c++/4.4.3/ext/new_allocator.h:89 #4 0x0804cb0e in std::_Vector_base<int, std::allocator<int> >::_M_allocate (this=0xbf800204, __n=1) at /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/../../../../include/c++/4.4.3/bits/stl_vector.h:140 #5 0x0804c086 in _Vector_base (this=0xbf800204, __n=1, __a=...) at /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/../../../../include/c++/4.4.3/bits/stl_vector.h:113 #6 0x0804b4b7 in vector (this=0xbf800204, __x=...) at /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.3/../../../../include/c++/4.4.3/bits/stl_vector.h:242 #7 0x0804b234 in Braid (this=0xbf800204) at braid.h:13 #8 0x080495ed in Braid::cycleBraid (this=0xbf8001b4) at braid.cpp:191 #9 0x080497c6 in Braid::score (this=0xbf800298, b=...) at braid.cpp:251 #10 0x08049c46 in Braid::evaluateMove (this=0xbf800468, move=1, pos=0, depth=2, b=...) I suspect that these memory issues are because the vectors are getting resized. What I want to know is whether objects of type Braid automatically expand when its members expand? he code I am writing is really long so I will post the section which is causing the problems. Here is the relevant section of the code :- class Braid { private : vector<int> braid; //Stores the braid. int strands; vector < vector<bool> > history; vector < vector<bool> > CM; public : Braid () : strands(0) {} Braid operator * (Braid); Braid* inputBraid(int,vector<int>); int printBraid(); int printBraid(vector<vector<int>::iterator>); vector<int>::size_type size() const; ..... ..... } Here is the function which causes the issue :- int Braid::evaluateMove(int move,int pos,int depth,Braid b) { int netscore = 0; Braid curr(*this); curr = curr.move(move,pos); netscore += curr.score(b); while(depth > 1) { netscore += curr.evaluateMove(1,0,depth,b); netscore += curr.evaluateMove(2,0,depth,b); for(int i = 0; i < braid.size();++i) { netscore += curr.evaluateMove(3,i,depth,b); netscore += curr.evaluateMove(4,i,depth,b); netscore += curr.evaluateMove(5,i,depth,b); curr = curr.cycleBraid(); netscore += curr.evaluateMove(6,0,depth,b); } --depth; } return netscore; }
