  • html file upload as part of another form

    - by samsina
    Idealy I would like to have the following: <form1 ...> ... <form2 ...> //This form uploads a file using AJAX and writes the content into a text field below. </form2> <input type="text"/> </form1> Firefox handles this but IE likes to follow the rules of W3C this time and it doesn't really work. So now I have to handle form2 outside of form1 through javascript. Can you provide some help about how to go about this? Thanks in advance.

Here they are: 1.php <?php header('Pragma: no-cache'); header('Cache-Control: max-age=1; no-cache'); header('Expires: Tue, 1 May 1985 01:10:00 GMT'); header('ETag: "'.md5(rand(1, 1000)).'"'); print date('H:i:s'); ?> <a href="2.php">pay</a> 2.php <a href="javascript:history.back()">back</a> Visitor lands on 1.php and then goes to 2.php. I want browser to re-request 1.php after vistor's click on "back" link. On current state it doesn't work. How it can be managed?

  • jQuery Animation and Classes

    - by ehdv
    Assume you have a list item, <li id="foo"> which you want to fade from one color to another when moused over, and that you are using jQuery. This is fairly easy: $('li#foo').bind('mouseenter' , function(e) { $(this).animate({backgroundColor: '#F00'} , 300); }); However, what if you wanted to get the resulting color or other style rules from a class defined in CSS without also declaring them in JavaScript? It seems there's no way to learn style information from CSS rules without having an example of the rule already in the document, which would require you to animate the <li> to the target appearance, then in the animation-finished callback, set the class which leads to redundant style declarations and can foul up your CSS at "runtime". Sorry if this question's unclear: It doesn't occur in the context of any specific project, I'm just curious how you'd go about this. Also, I know CSS3 hypothetically includes support for such transitions but using CSS for dynamic behavior like this seems such an ugly hack.

  • Site works perfect in Mozilla but not in IE. Is my js file not compatible with IE

    - by Bonkers
    I'm working on a site written in PHP/MySQL. We have a form to reserve time on a calendar and it works great in Mozilla and stores the reservation to our database, but in IE you fill out the form and when you click the "Reserve" button to submit it and nothing happens. All I can think of is that my javascript is not working with IE. I have these lines in my .js file: resLenT = document.getElementById(resLenElem); resLenI = resLenT.selectedIndex; resLen = resLenI + 1; where resLenElem is a drop-down box. These are the only lines that I can think of at the moment that might be causing trouble in IE. Does this all sound like I'm on the right track or am I way off base?

  • increasing speed and efficiency of ajax call

    - by user1048824
    I'm not the most disciplined dev, dont know standards and am self-taught so bear with me. I create stuff very logically and fast but not always using 'programming standards'. I have a mobile app using geolocation API. it gets thousands of places from my db and makes gmaps v3 markers for the ones around the user's current location. there is an ajax call from my JS to an aspx page that calls the database, makes a json string, and sends the json string to the javascript that then creates the google map markers. would i save time if the json string was in a flat file? im not sure if, generally speaking, accessing a sql db from an aspx page is faster than c# file i/o on a flat file with pre-rendered JSON. (of course, using the flat file, it would update everytime the db is updated)

  • Methods for breaking up content client-side into multiple "pages"

    - by Tom Genoni
    I have a long HTML text-only article formatted with paragraph tags. What I'd like to do is break this content into N number of divs so that I can create individual pages. So, for instance, on an iPad/iPhone, instead of reading one long page the user could swipe right/left to navigate to pages. My initial javascript attempts have been somewhat convoluted: creating an array of the text, measuring line-heights, device window heights, adding closing/opening paragraph tags and the end/beginning of pages. Thoughts on a good way to approach this? I will not have access to server-side processing, this has to be a client-side solution.

  • What's the difference between FireBug's conole.log() and console.debug() ?

    - by 6bytes
    A very simple code to illustrate the difference. var x = [0, 3, 1, 2]; console.debug('debug', x); console.log('log', x); // above display the same result x.splice(1, 2); // below display kind of a different result console.debug('debug', x); console.log('log', x); The javascript value is exactly the same but console.log() displays it a bit differently than before applying splice() method. Because of this I lost quite a few hours as I thought splice is acting funny making my array multidimensional or something. I just want to know why does this work like that. Does anyone know? :)

  • Jquery plugin for getting changes in textarea and sending them to server

    - by user763410
    I am getting a file "abc.txt" from server and dispaying it in a text area for editing. <div id="filecontents"> <textarea> CONTENTS OF FILE LARGER THAN 10KB </textarea> </div> The contents of the file are potentially large. The user will edit the textarea and add/delete text from any part(not just the end). I want to send ONLY the changes to the server for patching. How do I accomplish this?. Is there a javascript version of the popular linux command(diff). John Resig's diff code may not work as, for me, it will involve additional parsing on server side. Thanks!

  • How to distribute the chance to display each SWF evenly among banner collection?

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? Many thanks in advance.

  • How do I gather a class' css attributes given nothing but the className?

    - by user1128571
    For example I might have some css stuff that looks like this: .divType1 { position: absolute; width: 60px; height: 60px; left: 400px; top: 100px; border: 1px solid #89B; z-index: 0; } Now within Javascript I want to gather div class divType1' css attributes, but am provided only with the div class, so I can't do something of form ( pseudo-code ): selectDivWithClass( divType1 ).getCss(left). I could hack something by instantiating a div with class divType1 and grab its css attributes, and then destroy it, but is there a better way?

  • call .js file after ajax load

    - by asovgir
    I am trying to apply a .js file to a page I loaded via ajax (since ajax automatically strips the content of all the javascript). var url; var textUrl = 'local/file.js'; $('a').click(function() { url = $(this).attr('href'); $('.secondaryDiv').load(url, function() { $.getScript(textUrl, function(data, textStatus, jqxhr) { console.log(data); //data returned from getScript console.log(textStatus); //return "success" console.log(jqxhr.status); //200 }); }); return false; }); Am I approaching this the right way? I tried everything I could think of and I can't get it to work

    So I want to validate my form using jQuery, this is how I imagine it and it works, but is the best method of doing it and maybe I can do it more effective with less code? <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#frmCatAdd").submit(function() { var name = $("#edtName").val(); if (name == "") $("#edtName").css("border", "1px solid red") else $("#frmCatAdd").submit(); return false; }); }); </script>

  • How to change a label's text after loading a html into a dialog

    - by Salsa
    I am opening a modal dialog by loading a form into it. After loading the form, I want to change it's title and one of it's fields' label. I can change the label's text, but after the function returns, the label's text turns back to it's original one. Is it possible to make this kind of change and if so, how? The HTML: <form action="testing.php" method="POST" id="example-form"> <fieldset> <label for="link" id="link-label"></label> </fieldset> </form> The javascript: $(".bt-example").button().click(function() { $('#example-dialog').load('form.html').dialog('open'); $('.ui-dialog-titlebar').text("THIS WORKS!"); $('#example-form #link-label').text("CHANGES AT FIRST, BUT GOES BLANK LATER"); $('#example-dialog').removeClass('invisible'); });

  • Catching uncaught exceptions

    - by kajyr
    Hi everybody. In my workplace we are mantaining a lot of ecommerce websites, some coded better than others. On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed). To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have. Is there a way to catch those exceptions? Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.

As Texteditor i could use TinyMCE but how to rotate/drag&drop? the same with images (upload a logo, display it over an existing product image) where the user could drag&drop it around or rotate it left/right in 90 degrees, and change its size. are there any tools outside that can handle that requirements? They could be AJAX, Flash, jQuery, JavaScript, ... tia

  • Hover multiple elements affecting only 1 item

    - by lilsizzo
    hi guys i was wondering if there is a way to hover a few elements with the same class name which is placed side by side and actions would be trigger upon leaving the area of the elements. For example : <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> <div class="hoverme"></div> the javascript of "unhover" below should only be called when they leave the whole area of "hoverme" class. $('.hoverme').live('mouseover mouseout', function(event) { if (event.type == 'mouseover') { if(!$("#stage1 td").hasClass("hover")) { $("#stage1 td").addClass("hover",200) } } else { //$("#stage1 td").removeClass("hover",200) } }); Is there a way for this action??

  • Hide or display a button according to row count of a table

    - by kawtousse
    Hi, i have a HTML table and a button send. First of all the send button must have this style: style.display="none". But if the table has at least one row the button should be displayed (block/inline); I still have no idea how to relate between the table and the button. I try to use JavaScript but i should think about a function and I don't found any of it to apply at type table. Thinking about CSS still also hard since I cannot find a relation between the table and the button.

  • DOMNodeInserted or hashchange

    - by jakey
    I am trying to write a JavaScript script that is "overlayed" on top of a Facebook page. It uses DOMContentLoaded to detect when content is loaded, then adds some extra stuff in. However, because Facebook doesn't actually "reload" the page when going to a new page (it just uses AJAX), the DOMContentLoaded handler doesn't run again, even though there is new stuff to look through. Anyway, to detect the change, I thought about using onhashchange since Facebook used to change the page's hash, but in Firefox 4 (I need to support Firefox 3 and later with this, but no other browsers), Facebook doesn't change the hash anymore and in pre-Firefox 3.6 there is no onhashchange. I thought about using DOMNodeInserted, but would that really slow down the page? (I really can't have any slowdowns in this script.)

  • Display random image when page loads without utilizing onload in the body tag

    - by Peachy
    I'm trying to create a fairly simple piece of JavaScript that displays a random image from an array each time the page loads. I need to figure out a way to get this running without adding code to the body tag. Is there a way to accomplish this without, say, an onload funtion placed in the body tag? Here's what I have that relies on the onLoad: ImageSwitch=new Array(); ImageSwitch[0]='1.jpg'; ImageSwitch[1]='2.jpg'; ImageSwitch[2]='3.jpg'; ImageSwitch[3]='4.jpg'; function swapImage() { document.getElementById("theImage").setAttribute("src", ImageSwitch[ Math.round(Math.random()*3)]) } Any alternative ideas to accomplish this? Thanks.

  • Is it possible to align an element with the bottom of the window, yet make it scrollable, with CSS o

    - by last-child
    I have a design going on where I want to align the bottom of an intro paragraph with the bottom of the window, yet make it scroll with the rest of the page. So when the page opens, the visitor sees only the first paragraph (and a full screen background image, which is what I want to focus their attention on), but as they scroll they see the paragraph and the rest of the text. The height of the intro element can vary. Right now I think I have to introduce some javascript to do this - meassure the height of the window, the height of the paragraph, and adjust top: or margin-top of the paragraph to the difference between the two values. If there is a way to make a div have a height that corresponds exactly to the window height, and position the paragraph absolutely inside of this div, the let the rest of the text sit outside of the div, it could work... but I can't seem to make that happen with css. Any suggestions?

  • Why this script is not validating the form

    - by danishjan
    This is registration form code. i wrote script in one i have accessed every element by Id and in One by name but both donot validation it. <div id="form"> <form action="" method="get" id="formdata" > <p> <label for="firstName" class="labels">&nbsp; &nbsp;First Name </label> <input type="text" name="firstName" id="firstName" placeholder="First Name" /> <label for="firstName" id="errorfirstName" style="color:red; font- size:14px; visibility:hidden;"> Please Enter First Name </label> </p> <p> <label for="lastName" class="labels">&nbsp; &nbsp;Last Name </label> <input type="text" name="lastName" id="lastName" placeholder="Last Name" /> <label for="lastName" id="errorlastName" style="color:red; font-size:14px; visibility:hidden;"> Please Enter Last Name</label> </p> <p> <label for="fatherName" class="labels">Father Name</label> <input type="text" name="fatherName" id="fatherName" placeholder="Father Name" /> <label for="fatherName" id="errorfatherName" style="color:red; font- size:14px; visibility:hidden;"> Please Enter Father Name </label> </p> <p> <label for="classNo" class="labels">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Class </label> <input type="text" name="classNo" id="classNo" placeholder="Class" /> <label for="classNo" id="errorclassNo" style="color:red; font-size:14px; visibility:hidden;"> Please Enter Class </label> </p> <p> <label for="address" class="labels">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Address </label> <input type="text" name="address" id="address" placeholder="Address" /> <label for="address" id="erroraddress" style="color:red; font-size:14px; visibility:hidden;"> Please Enter Address </label> </p> <p> <input type="submit" value="Submit" onSubmit="return validate()" /> </p> </form> And the JavaScript Code is here. What is wrong with this code. This code is through accessing by Element Id. <script type="text\javascript"> function validate(){ var valid=true; var fname=document.getElementById("firstName"); var lname=document.getElementById("lastName"); var fathname=document.getElementById("fatherName"); var classno=document.getElementById("classNo"); var address=document.getElementById("address"); var errfname=document.getElementById("errorfirstName"); var errlname=document.getElementById("errorlastName"); var errfathname=document.getElementById("errorfatherName"); var errclass=document.getElementById("errorclass"); var erraddress=document.getElementById("erroraddress"); if(fname.value == ""){ errfname.style.visibility="visible"; valid=false; } if(lname.value == ""){ errlname.style.visibility="visible"; valid=false; } if(fathname.value == ""){ errfathname.style.visibility="visible"; valid=false; } if(classno.value == ""){ errclass.style.visibility="visible"; valid=false; } if(address.value == ""){ erraddress.style.visibility="visible"; valid=false; } return valid; } </script>

  • quickflip + slideshow animation

    - by user288231
    I have been trying to integrate quickflip and a slideshow animation. So everytime when the user hovers over the image, it would pause the animation and "flip to the other side". When the user hovers out, it would then replace its normal state. The problem is here is I do not know how to handle the quickflip code (http://jonraasch.com/blog/quickflip-2-jquery-plugin). I have looked at the sample code and tried to replace it, but at the end the animations would get messed up... Javascript: var interval = setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 3000 ); $('.quickFlip').quickFlip(); $('#slideshow').hover(function () { clearInterval(interval); }, function () { interval = setInterval("slideSwitch()", 3000); });

  • how to detect an F5 refresh keypress event in jquery?

    - by chaonextdoor
    I noticed that jquery has a keypress function. But it seems that it can only detect keypress event of numbers and characters. It cannot detect the F5 keypress event. And What surprises me the most is everyone online says that the keyCode of F5 is 116, But when I use the jquery keypress function, it just shows that the character t has the keyCode of 116(it seems that 116 is the ascii code of lowercase t)! Can somebody give me any idea about this and how to detect the F5 event in javascript or jquery? Thanks so much in advance.

  • Get link position on screen from google search results

    - by Revelation
    I want to make an app in .net to search on google for a keyword and click on a specific link from the results. Like a bot. How can I get the coordinates of screen where the specific link appears in search results so I can do a click on it. The component where the page loads will have javascript enabled so just parsing the html is not enought. It must look like a real user is clicking on the link.( it`s for a school project involving seo) or What is the best approach to do this ?
