  • WPF Databinding CheckBox.IsChecked

    - by Adam Tegen
    How would I bind the IsChecked member of a CheckBox to a member variable in my form? (I realize I can access it directly, but I am trying to learn about databinding and WPF) Below is my failed attempt to get this working. XAML: <Window x:Class="MyProject.Form1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Title" Height="386" Width="563" WindowStyle="SingleBorderWindow"> <Grid> <CheckBox Name="checkBoxShowPending" TabIndex="2" Margin="0,12,30,0" Checked="checkBoxShowPending_CheckedChanged" Height="17" VerticalAlignment="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Width="92" Content="Show Pending" IsChecked="{Binding ShowPending}"> </CheckBox> </Grid> </Window> Code: namespace MyProject { public partial class Form1 : Window { private ListViewColumnSorter lvwColumnSorter; public bool? ShowPending { get { return this.showPending; } set { this.showPending = value; } } private bool showPending = false; private void checkBoxShowPending_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { //checking showPending.Value here. It's always false } } }

  • Unknown Build Error using WPF Toolkit

    - by Tom Allen
I installed the Feb 2010 WPF Toolkit as I'm interested in evaluating the AutoCompleteBox control and I'm having extremely limited success. I can get the control to work, but as soon as I try and set any of it's properties in XAML, I get the following: Unknown build error, 'Cannot resolve dependency to assembly 'WPFToolkit, Version=3.5.40128.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' because it has not been preloaded. When using the ReflectionOnly APIs, dependent assemblies must be pre-loaded or loaded on demand through the ReflectionOnlyAssemblyResolve event. I've been testing this on a blank WPF window in a new solution. I'm guessing I'm just missing a reference or something... Here's the XAML (I've added nothing to the .xaml.cs): <Window x:Class="WpfToolkitApplication.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:toolkit="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <toolkit:AutoCompleteBox Height="25"/> </Grid> </Window> The only reference I've added is System.Windows.Controls.Input.Toolkit. Any ideas?

  • In the Xcode SplitView template for an iPad app, how do I add a Date Picker control to the Root View

    - by Dr Dork
I'm diving into iPhone OS development on the iPad and one of the things I'm playing with is the SplitView template. The template provides a window with a UISplitView view, containing the Root View (on the left of the window) and the Detail View (on the right of the window). The Root View is a subclass of a TableView. Rather than having the entire Root View consist of a TableView, I'd like it to contain a DatePicker view along with the TableView under it. When I go into IB and try and drop a DatePicker into the Root View, it won't let me. It will only let me add a DatePicker view to the Detail View. Why wont IB let me drop a DatePicker view into the Root View? How can I add a DatePicker to the RootView in addition to the TableView? I'm still learning this new platform, so I apologize if these questions are absurd in any way. Thanks so much in advance for your help, I'm going to continue researching these questions right now.

  • wpf 4.0 datagrid template column two-way binding problem

    - by rouwlee
    Hello all! I'm using the datagrid from wpf 4.0. This has a TemplateColumn containing a checkbox. The IsChecked property of the checkbox is set via binding. The problem is that even if I specify the binding mode explicitly to be TwoWay, it works only in one direction. I have to mention that the same code works perfectly in .net 3.5 with the datagrid from the wpf toolkit. Please take a look at the .xaml and .cs contents. Thanks in advance, Roland <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="IsSelectedColumnTemplate"> <CheckBox IsChecked="{Binding Path=IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}" /> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <DataGrid x:Name="dataGrid" AutoGenerateColumns="false" CanUserAddRows="False" CanUserDeleteRows="False" HeadersVisibility="Column" ItemsSource="{Binding}" > <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Preselected" x:Name="myIsSelectedColumn" CellTemplate="{StaticResource IsSelectedColumnTemplate}" CanUserSort="True" SortMemberPath="Orientation" Width="Auto" /> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid> </Grid> and the related .cs content: public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); ObservableCollection<DataObject> DataSource = new ObservableCollection<DataObject>(); DataSource.Add(new DataObject()); dataGrid.ItemsSource = DataSource; } } public class DataObject : DependencyObject { public bool IsSelected { get { return (bool)GetValue(IsSelectedProperty); } set { SetValue(IsSelectedProperty, value); } } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for IsSelected. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty IsSelectedProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsSelected", typeof(bool), typeof(DataObject), new UIPropertyMetadata(false, OnIsSelectedChanged)); private static void OnIsSelectedChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { // this part is not reached } }

  • C# Excel file OLEDB read HTML IMPORT

    - by Michel van Engelen
Hi, I have to automate something for the finance dpt. I've got an Excel file which I want to read using OleDb: string connectionString = @"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=A_File.xls;Extended Properties=""HTML Import;IMEX=1;"""; using (OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection()) { using (DbCommand command = connection.CreateCommand()) { connection.ConnectionString = connectionString; connection.Open(); DataTable dtSchema = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable(OleDbSchemaGuid.Tables, null); if( (null == dtSchema) || ( dtSchema.Rows.Count <= 0 ) ) { //raise exception if needed } command.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM [NameOfTheWorksheet$]"; using (DbDataReader dr = command.ExecuteReader()) { while (dr.Read()) { //do something with the data } } } } Normally the connectionstring would have an extended property "Excel 8.0", but the file can't be read that way because it seems to be an html file renamed to .xls. when I copy the data from the xls to a new xls, I can read the new xls with the E.P. set to "Excel 8.0". Yes, I can read the file by creating an instance of Excel, but I rather not.. Any idea how I can read the xls using OleDb without making manual changes to the xls or by playing with ranges in a instanciated Excel? Regards, Michel

  • Writing a Javascript library that is code-completion and code-inspection friendly

    - by Vivin Paliath
I recently made my own Javascript library and I initially used the following pattern: var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); The problem with this is that I can't really use code completion because the IDE doesn't know about the properties that the function literal is returning (I'm using IntelliJ IDEA 9 by the way). I've looked at jQuery code and tried to do this: (function(window, undefined) { var myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); window.myLibrary = myLibrary; }(window)); I tried this, but now I have a different problem. The IDE doesn't really pick up on myLibrary either. The way I'm solving the problem now is this way: var myLibrary = { func: function() { }, func2: function() { }, prop: "" }; myLibrary = (function () { var someProp = "..."; function someFunc() { ... } function someFunc2() { ... } return { func: someFunc, fun2: someFunc2, prop: someProp; } }()); But that seems kinda clunky, and I can't exactly figure out how jQuery is doing it. Another question I have is how to handle functions with arbitrary numbers of parameters. For example, jQuery.bind can take 2 or 3 parameters, and the IDE doesn't seem to complain. I tried to do the same thing with my library, where a function could take 0 arguments or 1 argument. However, the IDE complains and warns that the correct number of parameters aren't being sent in. How do I handle this?

  • Android: ProgressDialog.show() crashes with getApplicationContext

I can't seem to grasp why this is happening. This code: mProgressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(this, "", getString(R.string.loading), true); works just fine. • "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered" [RESOLVED]

    - by Azim
I have a Visual Studio 2008 solution with two projects (a Word-Template project and a VB.Net console application for testing). Both projects reference a database project which opens a connection to an MS-Access 2007 database file and have references to System.Data.OleDb. In the database project I have a function which retrieves a data table as follows private class AdminDatabase ' stores the connection string which is set in the New() method dim strAdminConnection as string public sub New() ... adminName = dlgopen.FileName conAdminDB = New OleDbConnection conAdminDB.ConnectionString = "Data Source='" + adminName + "';" + _ "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" ' store the connection string in strAdminConnection strAdminConnection = conAdminDB.ConnectionString.ToString() My.Settings.SetUserOverride("AdminConnectionString", strAdminConnection) ... End Sub ' retrieves data from the database Public Function getDataTable(ByVal sqlStatement As String) As DataTable Dim ds As New DataSet Dim dt As New DataTable Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter Dim localCon As New OleDbConnection localCon.ConnectionString = strAdminConnection Using localCon Dim command As OleDbCommand = localCon.CreateCommand() command.CommandText = sqlStatement localCon.Open() da.SelectCommand = command da.Fill(dt) getDataTable = dt End Using End Function End Class When I call this function from my Word 2007 Template project everything works fine; no errors. But when I run it from the console application it throws the following exception ex = {"The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine."} Both projects have the same reference and the console application did work when I first wrote it (a while ago) but now it has stopped work. I must be missing something but I don't know what. Any ideas?

  • Grep failing with Emacs (windows), and GnuWin32 Grep

    - by Andy
Hi, I've downloaded and installed the GnuWin32 tools, and added the grep executables to the Emacs bin. I've also, for what its worth, added the GnuWin32 bin folder to my Path variable. Problem is though, when I try and run with suggested grep commands, I always get: Grep exited abnormally with code 53 at Wed Feb 24 17:16:12 For the life of me, I can't find any reference to error code 53 anywhere! :( I've tried the exact examples on a number of websites for example, when I enter: M-x grep <ret> It comes up with Run grep (like this): grep -n Which is fine, but I have no idea of what parameters it expects. I've tried some in some tuorials, but I get error code 53 again! One of the things I've tried is straight from the emacs wiki (http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/GrepMode#toc2) (maybe not for the windows version though?) and it says to try this command: M-x grep -n -e setq ~/.emacs Which I've tried and I get: -*- mode: grep; default-directory: "c:/[My Directory]/" -*- Grep started at Wed Feb 24 17:30:47 grep -n -e setq ~/.emacs NUL Grep exited abnormally with code 53 at Wed Feb 24 17:30:47 So frustrating as this is meant to be a powerful feature of Emacs and I'm really trying to learn it as I've heard good things about it! Any help would be appreciated! :) Andy UPDATE From the suggestion below, I've tried it via command line and it seems to work fine, perhaps there some config I'm UPDATE I've found the command M-x Occur which seems to do much the same as I would image grep does. Are there many extra benefits to using grep over occur if I can't get this working?

  • How do I insert and query a DateTime object in SQLite DB from C# ?

    - by Soham
Hi All, Consider this snippet of code: string sDate = string.Format("{0:u}", this.Date); Conn.Open(); Command.CommandText = "INSERT INTO TRADES VALUES(" + "\"" + this.Date + "\"" + "," +this.ATR + "," + "\"" + this.BIAS + "\"" + ")"; Command.ExecuteNonQuery(); Note the "this.Date" part of the command. Now Date is an abject of type DateTime of C# environment, the DB doesnt store it(somewhere in SQLite forum, it was written that ADO.NET wrapper automatically converts DateTime type to ISO1806 format) But instead of this.Date when I use sDate (shown in the first line) then it stores properly. My probem actually doesnt end here. Even if I use "sDate", I have to retrieve it through a query. And that is creating the problem Any query of this format SELECT * FROM <Table_Name> WHERE DATES = "YYYY-MM-DD" returns nothing, whereas replacing '=' with '' or '<' returns right results. So my point is: How do I query for Date variables from SQLite Database. And if there is a problem with the way I stored it (i.e non 1806 compliant), then how do I make it compliant

  • UINavigationController as detail view of a UISplitViewController

    - by user309305
Hi. I set up a navigation controller as detail view of a split view controller (NewFeedsNavigationController is inherited from UINavigationController). - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch masterViewController = [[MasterViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; UINavigationController *masterNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:masterViewController]; NewsFeedsNavigationController *newsFeedsNavigationController = [[NewsFeedsNavigationController alloc] initWithCategories]; splitViewController = [[UISplitViewController alloc] init]; masterViewController.splitViewController = splitViewController; splitViewController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:masterNavigationController, newsFeedsNavigationController, nil]; splitViewController.delegate = newsFeedsNavigationController; // Add the split view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:splitViewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } As a matter of fact the navigation controller works splendid in the portrait orientation but kind of freaks out in landscape orientation. when navigating back in the hierarchy (towards the root view) i always have to tap twice per view. on the first tap the visible view is poped from the stack and on the second tap the navigation bar turns. usually both of this happens at the same time. i have no idea what is going wrong.

  • jQuery.ajax call to Twitter succeeds but returns null for Firefox

    - by Zhami
I've got code that makes a simple get request to Twitter (search) using jQuery's ajax method. The code works fine on Safari, but fails on Firefox (3.6.3). In the Firefox case, my jQuery.ajax parameters 'success' method is invoked, but the supplied data is null. (In Safari, I receive a boatload of JSON data). My ajax call is: $.ajax({ url: 'http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q='+searchTerm, dataType: 'json', async: true, beforeSend: function(request) { window.console.log('starting AJAX request to get Twitter data'); }, success: function(data, textStatus, request) { window.console.log('AJAX request to get Twitter succeeded: status=' + textStatus); callback(data); }, error: function(request, status, error) { window.console.log('AJAX request to get user data --> Error: ' + status); errback(request, status, error); } }); Firebug shows Response headers: Date Sun, 11 Apr 2010 22:30:26 GMT Server hi Status 200 OK X-Served-From b021 X-Runtime 0.23841 Content-Type application/json; charset=utf-8 X-Served-By sjc1o024.prod.twitter.com X-Timeline-Cache-Hit Miss Cache-Control max-age=15, must-revalidate, max-age=300 Expires Sun, 11 Apr 2010 22:35:26 GMT Vary Accept-Encoding X-Varnish 1827846877 Age 0 Via 1.1 varnish X-Cache-Svr sjc1o024.prod.twitter.com X-Cache MISS Content-Encoding gzip Content-Length 2126 Connection close The HTTP status is OK (200), the Conetnt-Type is properly application/json, and the Content-Length of 2126 (gzip'd) implies data came back. Yet Firebug shows the Response to be empty, and a test of the supplied data shows it o be 'null.' I am aware of a similar post on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1188976/jquery-get-function-succeeds-with-200-but-returns-no-content-in-firefox and from that would assume this problem is possibly related to cross-domain security, but... I know there are many JS widgets and whatnots that ajax get data from Twitter. Is there something I need to enable to allow this?

  • TextBlock Wrapping in WPF Layout

    - by Joel Martinez
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to do something similar to the twitter silverlight app that Scott Guthrie demoed recently in WPF: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2010/03/18/building-a-windows-phone-7-twitter-application-using-silverlight.aspx Unfortunately, I seem to be having a hard time understanding the wpf layout system in some fundamental way. I've been trying various combinations of horizontalalignment/stretch, width/auto at different levels in the hierarchy, and I can't seem to get the "message" textblock to wrap without assigning an explicit width. All I want is for the text to wrap based on the width of the window (or whatever is the parent container). <Window x:Class="TweeterWin.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300" Loaded="Window_Loaded"> <ScrollViewer Height="auto" > <ListBox Name="tweetList" Height="auto" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Height="132"> <Image Source="{Binding Avatar}" Height="73" Width="73" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,10,8,0"/> <StackPanel > <TextBlock Text="{Binding User}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Foreground="#FFC8AB14" FontSize="15" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Message}" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="10" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </ScrollViewer> </Window> As a follow up, if anyone can send any links my way that might help me understand some of these layout fundamentals. I think I understand the main layout options (canvas, grid, stackpanel, etc.), but I dont' understand why I can't get this textblock to wrap in this scenario. Thanks!

  • Frame Buster Buster ... buster code needed

    - by Jeff Atwood
Let's say you don't want other sites to "frame" your site in an <iframe>: <iframe src="http://yourwebsite.com"></iframe> So you insert anti-framing, frame busting JavaScript into all your pages: /* break us out of any containing iframes */ if (top != self) { top.location.replace(self.location.href); } Excellent! Now you "bust" or break out of any containing iframe automatically. Except for one small problem. As it turns out, your frame-busting code can be busted, as shown here: <script type="text/javascript"> var prevent_bust = 0 window.onbeforeunload = function() { prevent_bust++ } setInterval(function() { if (prevent_bust > 0) { prevent_bust -= 2 window.top.location = 'http://server-which-responds-with-204.com' } }, 1) </script> This code does the following: increments a counter every time the browser attempts to navigate away from the current page, via the window.onbeforeonload event handler sets up a timer that fires every millisecond via setInterval(), and if it sees the counter incremented, changes the current location to a server of the attacker's control that server serves up a page with HTTP status code 204, which does not cause the browser to nagivate anywhere My question is -- and this is more of a JavaScript puzzle than an actual problem -- how can you defeat the frame-busting buster? I had a few thoughts, but nothing worked in my testing: attempting to clear the onbeforeunload event via onbeforeonload = null had no effect adding an alert() stopped the process let the user know it was happening, but did not interfere with the code in any way; clicking OK lets the busting continue as normal I can't think of any way to clear the setInterval() timer I'm not much of a JavaScript programmer, so here's my challenge to you: hey buster, can you bust the frame-busting buster?

  • Add a sub-view to a DetailView UIView in iPad

    - by Elisabeth
I'm creating a split view controller app, the detail view has a segmented control in a navigation bar at the top. Clicking on a segment will add a new view to the detail view with the appropriate information on it (covering up the DetailViewController's default UIView). I've created two new UIViews, corresponding to each segment, and I'm trying to add them to the view like this (in DetailViewController.m): if (exerciseSegmentControl.selectedSegmentIndex == UISegmentedControlNoSegment) { NSLog(@"No segment selected"); } UIView *viewToShow; if (selectedView == 0 && exerciseSegmentControl.selectedSegmentIndex == 1) { viewToShow = exerciseSolutionView; } else { viewToShow = exerciseView; } [self.view addSubview:viewToShow]; I see the view appear, but it's in the wrong place, it is placed at the very top of the window, instead of below the navigation bar. In IB, I've created instances of the views, and I've used the Attributes inspector to specify "Navigation Bar" for top bar, which sets the height of the view correctly. But the view is clearly being added too far up in the window - I see the view below it (the DetailViewController's UIView) peaking out at the bottom (I changed the background color so I know which view I'm seeing). Any tips on how to get the subview I'm adding to get placed correctly in the window? Thanks!

  • ssh tunneling with visualsvn

    - by DeveloperChris
I have been asked to setup visualsvn for visual studio 2008 Due to firewall restrictions and server configuration. I need to use ssh tunneling. My problem is this. The local machine needs to connect to a gateway machine via ssh then connect to the subversion server so Local machine ---{ssh}--- gateway ---{ssh}-- subversion server I am not exactly sure of the correct process to do this. It appears that I must start a ssh process using plink to open a local port and forward that to the remote subversion server. eg: plink user@gateway -L 22:192.168.1.1:22 Then when visualsvn starts it uses tortoiseplink to make the actual connection through to the subversion server using svn+ssh://username@localhost:22/myrepo This seems very very clunky. firstly it needs several steps to setup the connection secondly I need plink running which leaves a command prompt on the desktop (clutter = yuck) lastly I need to use two different programs that do the same thing. (plink + tortoiseplink) The problem is that tortoiseplink doesn't run in the background. As soon as I connect to the ssh gateway and enter the password it closes again. So I can't use it to create the initial connection. If I use plink instead of tortoiseplink in visualsvn then I never get prompted for the password. so it just hangs with an open command prompt and no password request. Is there a way to setup visualsvn so that everything happens in one command line? I have searched high and low for a suitable and clean method to tunnel from visualsvn to the remote server and have found very little. it all either assumes one hop (not two like mine) or it glosses over all the hard bits. • wpf datagrid current item binding

    - by tk
I want to bind a content of Label to the selected item of a datagrid. I thought the 'current item' binding expression would work, but it is not. My xaml code and code-behind c# is like below. <Window x:Class="WpfApplication2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="512" Width="847"> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <Label Content="{Binding Data/colA}" DockPanel.Dock="Top" Height="30"/> <DataGrid ItemsSource="{Binding Data}"></DataGrid> </DockPanel> </Window> namespace WpfApplication2 { public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new MyData(); } } public class MyData { DataTable data; public MyData() { data = new DataTable(); data.Columns.Add("colA"); data.Columns.Add("colB"); data.Rows.Add("aa", 1); data.Rows.Add("bb", 2); } public DataTable Data { get { return data; } } } } The label shows the first item of the DataTable, and does not change when i select other items on the datagrid. It seems the current item of dataview does not change. What should i do to bind it to the current selected item of datagrid?

Hi, I'm having trouble using a tab bar control. Basically, when I build and run I'm just getting the blank white default "Window" screen. I was following this guide: http://www.iphoneosdevcafe.com/2010/03/assignment-4-part-1/#comment-36 Drag a Tab Bar Controller from the Library to MainWindow.xib. Control drag from the App Delegate to the Tab Bar Controller. Drag a Navigation Controller from the Library to MainWindow.xib. Control drag from the App Delegate to the Navigation Controller. Drag a second Navigation Controller from the Library to MainWindow.xib. Control drag from the App Delegate to the Navigation Controller. This completes all the connections between the App Delegate and the tab bar and two navigation controllers. By using IB to set up the tab bar and navigation controllers in this way, you need not allocate and init the controllers in AppDelegate.m. When you build and run this, you will see the tab bar controller and two navigation controllers. Is there a step there that he missed? How do I hook the Tab Bar Controller up to the Window? EDIT: Do I need to do something like this? mainTabBar = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; [window addSubview:mainTabBar.view]; That's still not working, but I feel like I'm on the right track? Why can't this all be done from Interface Builder?

  • MVVM Madness: Commands

    - by JP
I like MVVM. I don't love it, but like it. Most of it makes sense. But, I keep reading articles that encourage you to write a lot of code so that you can write XAML and don't have to write any code in the code-behind. Let me give you an example. Recently I wanted to hookup a command in my ViewModel to a ListView MouseDoubleClickEvent. I wasn't quite sure how to do this. Fortunately, Google has answers for everything. I found the following articles: http://blog.functionalfun.net/2008/09/hooking-up-commands-to-events-in-wpf.html http://joyfulwpf.blogspot.com/2009/05/mvvm-invoking-command-on-attached-event.html http://sachabarber.net/?p=514 http://geekswithblogs.net/HouseOfBilz/archive/2009/08/27/adventures-in-mvvm-ndash-binding-commands-to-any-event.aspx http://marlongrech.wordpress.com/2008/12/13/attachedcommandbehavior-v2-aka-acb/ While the solutions were helpful in my understanding of commands, there were problems. Some of the aforementioned solutions rendered the WPF designer unusable because of a common hack of appending "Internal" after a dependency property; the WPF designer can't find it, but the CLR can. Some of the solutions didn't allow multiple commands to the same control. Some of the solutions didn't allow parameters. After experimenting for a few hours I just decided to do this: private void ListView_MouseDoubleClick(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { ListView lv = sender as ListView; MyViewModel vm = this.DataContext as MyViewModel; vm.DoSomethingCommand.Execute(lv.SelectedItem); } So, MVVM purists, please tell me what's wrong with this? I can still Unit test my command. This seems very practical, but seems to violate the guideline of "ZOMG... you have code in your code-behind!!!!" Please share your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

  • VS2010 and Windows XP SP3

    - by abjbhat
At home I've been running VS 2010 on a Windows 7 x64 machine without any issues, however at work we recently switched over to VS 2010 running on WinXP SP3 x86 - and I gotta say, the experience is terrible. There are severe graphical glitches. For ex, Intellisense doesn't quite work. You can start typing and the intellisense dropdown window seems to be working, but the text I'm typing vanishes. I can't see it until I hit the Escape key or refresh the window by say, alt-tabbing to another application and then back again to VS2010 If I cut/copy/paste and then move the cursor around by scrolling or using the arrow keys, different parts of the text window don't update themselves properly. I can see patches of a different piece of code where it shouldn't be. Other team members are also facing the similar issues as well. Is there some patch that I should install? I have already installed the UIA 3 patch ScottGu mentioned in his blog. Any help would be appreciated. -Thanks!

  • MVVM Binding in Silverlight3 ItemsControl to get the parent controls DataContext

    - by BigTundra
I have the following ItemsControl in Silverlight 3. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding ValueCollectionList}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button x:Name="MyBtn" Height="40" Content="{Binding Name}" Tag="{Binding Value}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot, Path=ButtonCommand}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=MyBtn, Path=Tag}"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> The Problem is that I have the ItemsControl bound to the Collection in my ViewModel, but I need the button to trigger a command on the ViewModel which is of course not Available in the DataContext of the button since it only contains the collection. I can make the command fire by setting my ViewModel as a Resource and then binding to it as a StaticResource, but I want to know why the element to element binding won't work in this scenario. I would prefer not to use the StaticResource binding because that requires the default constructor on the ViewModel and so I can't inject my data easily.

  • Aspnet_merge error has no detail

    - by dang57
I have been attempting to add a Deployment Project to my web app. When I build it, I get a message "An error occurred when merging assemblies: Exception from HRESULT: 0x806D0004". There is no other detail, like ILMerge error, or Duplicate Name. I have "verbosity" set to "Diagnostic", and this is the output: Command: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v8.0\aspnet_merge.exe "\...XXX...\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\XXX_deploy\Debug" -o XXX_deploy -debug -copyattrs The "AspNetMerge" task is using "aspnet_merge.exe" from "C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v8.0\aspnet_merge.exe". Utility to merge precompiled ASP.NET assemblies. An error occurred when merging assemblies: Exception from HRESULT: 0x806D0004 C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\WebDeployment\v8.0\Microsoft.WebDeployment.targets(474,9): error MSB6006: "aspnet_merge.exe" exited with code 1. Done executing task "AspNetMerge" -- FAILED. Done building target "AspNetMerge" in project "XXX_deploy.wdproj" -- FAILED. Done building project "XXX_deploy.wdproj" -- FAILED. Build FAILED. I have tried running the command via the Command prompt, but it does not give any additional information. I have also removed EVERYTHING from the project, including references, style sheets, forms, tableadapters. I still have a web.config, but deleted all app-specific lines. I added a single new form named Default. I have even tried renaming that form to DefaultX, just in case there was another Default out there. I still get the error. What else can I look for? I'm running VS 2005 v8.05. Thanks Dan

  • WF 4.0 can't get to resume workflow on the staging/production environment

    - by Yasmine Atta Hajjaj
I have developed various registeration workflows using WF4.0. Each work flow has various bookmarks. I am using the registeration wf for an asp.net application. I tested the asp.net application locally and it is working fine( Starting WF, Persisting to db and resuming bookmarks). When I try to test it on the staging server, everything goes messy. I can no longer resume wfs and I get an error message : System.Runtime.DurableInstancing.InstancePersistenceCommandException was unhandled by user code Message=The execution of the InstancePersistenceCommand named {urn:schemas-microsoft-com:System.Activities.Persistence/command}LoadWorkflow was interrupted by an error. Source=System.Runtime.DurableInstancing StackTrace: at System.Runtime.AsyncResult.End[TAsyncResult](IAsyncResult result) at System.Runtime.DurableInstancing.InstancePersistenceContext.OuterExecute(InstanceHandle initialInstanceHandle, InstancePersistenceCommand command, Transaction transaction, TimeSpan timeout) at System.Runtime.DurableInstancing.InstanceStore.Execute(InstanceHandle handle, InstancePersistenceCommand command, TimeSpan timeout) at System.Activities.WorkflowApplication.PersistenceManager.Load(TimeSpan timeout) at System.Activities.WorkflowApplication.LoadCore(TimeSpan timeout, Boolean loadAny) at System.Activities.WorkflowApplication.Load(Guid instanceId, TimeSpan timeout) at System.Activities.WorkflowApplication.Load(Guid instanceId) at CEO_StartUpCEORegisterationTest.LoadInstance(Guid wfInstanceId) in c:\Users\Kunoichi\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\CMERegistrationSystem\RegistrationPortal\CEO\StartUpCEORegisterationTest.aspx.cs:line 64 at CEO_StartUpCEORegisterationTest.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\Users\Kunoichi\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\CMERegistrationSystem\RegistrationPortal\CEO\StartUpCEORegisterationTest.aspx.cs:line 44 at System.Web.Util.CalliHelper.EventArgFunctionCaller(IntPtr fp, Object o, Object t, EventArgs e) at System.Web.Util.CalliEventHandlerDelegateProxy.Callback(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) InnerException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException Message=Index 'NCIX_KeysTable_SurrogateInstanceId' on table 'KeysTable' (specified in the FROM clause) does not exist. But I have been banging my head against the wall for more than a week. I did search and all I came to know was to work on ms dtc. I enabled it on the staging server , I installed application server on the staging server and I am still getting the same error. I would appreciate if anyone could help with the problem. Thanks in advance :)

  • C# Process Exited event not firing from within webservice

    - by davidpizon
I am attempting to wrap a 3rd party command line application within a web service. If I run the following code from within a console application: Process process= new System.Diagnostics.Process(); process.StartInfo.FileName = "some_executable.exe"; // Do not spawn a window for this process process.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; process.StartInfo.ErrorDialog = false; // Redirect input, output, and error streams process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = true; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; process.EnableRaisingEvents = true; process.ErrorDataReceived += (sendingProcess, eventArgs) => { // Make note of the error message if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(eventArgs.Data)) if (this.WarningMessageEvent != null) this.WarningMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs(eventArgs.Data)); }; process.OutputDataReceived += (sendingProcess, eventArgs) => { // Make note of the message if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(eventArgs.Data)) if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs(eventArgs.Data)); }; process.Exited += (object sender, EventArgs e) => { // Make note of the exit event if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs("The command exited")); }; process.Start(); process.StandardInput.Close(); process.BeginOutputReadLine(); process.BeginErrorReadLine(); process.WaitForExit(); int exitCode = process.ExitCode; process.Close(); process.Dispose(); if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs("The command exited with code: " + exitCode)); All events, including the "process.Exited" event fires as expected. However, when this code is invoked from within a web service method, all events EXCEPT the "process.Exited" event fire. The execution appears to hang at the line: process.WaitForExit(); Would anyone be able to shed some light as to what I might be missing?
