• VB.NET - using textfile as source for menus and textboxes

  Hi, this is probably a bit tense and I'm not sure if this is possible at all. But basically, I'm trying to create a small application which contains alot of PowerShell-code which I want to run in an easy matter. I've managed to create everything myself and it does work. But all of the PowerShell code is manually hardcoded and this gives me a huge disadvantage. What I was thinking was creating some sort of dynamic structure where I can read a couple of text files (possible a numerous amount of text files) and use these as the source for both the comboboxes and the richtextbox which provovides as the string used to run in PowerShell. I was thinking something like this: Combobox - "Choose cmdlet" - Use "menucode.txt" as source Richtextbox - Use "code.txt" as source But, the thing is, Powershell snippets need a few arguments in order for them to work. So I've got a couple of comboboxes and a few textboxes which provides as input for these arguments. And this is done manually as it is right now. So rewriting this small application should also search the textfile for some keywords and have the comboboxes and textboxes to replace those keywords. And I'm not sure how to do this. So, would this requre a whole lot of textfiles? Or could I use one textfile and separate each PowerShell cmdlet snippets with something? Like some sort of a header? Just so you know :) And I know, this is probably coded as stupidly as it gets. But it does work! :)

• I'd like to know why a function executes fine when called from x but not when called from y

  When called from archive(), readcont(char *filename) executes fine! Called from runoptions() though, it fails to list the files "archived"! why is this? The program must run in terminal. Use -h as a parameter to view the usage. This program is written to "archive" text files into ".rldzip" files. readcont( char *x) should show the files archived in file (*x) a) Successful call Use the program to archive 3 text files: rldzip.exe a.txt b.txt c.txt FILEXY -a archive() will call readcont and it will work showing the files archived after the binary FILEXY will be created. b) Unsuccessful call After the file is created, use: rldzip.exe FILEXY.rldzip -v You can see that the function crashes! • Multiplying two matrices from two text files with unknown dimensions

  This is my first post here. I've been working on this c++ question for a while now and have gotten nowhere. Maybe you guys can give me some hints to get me started. My program has to read two .txt files each containing one matrix. Then it has to multiply them and output it to another .txt file. My confusion here though is how the .txt files are setup and how to get the dimensions. Here is an example of matrix 1.txt. #ivalue #jvalue value 1 1 1.0 2 2 1 The dimension of the matrix is 2x2. 1.0 0 0 1 Before I can start multiplying these matrices I need to get the i and j value from the text file. But now I am running into another problem. The problem is that the array that I'm trying to find the inner arrays of is dynamic and made of a user input. (It splits an input string where it finds + or -, and puts it in a separate nested array if it contains brackets. So if the user types a lot of brackets, there will be a lot of nested arrays.) Therefore I need to make this pattern go for 20 times down, and still it will only catch 20 nested arrays no matter what. Is there a function for that, again? Or is there a way to make it do this without my long code? Maybe make a loop make the necessary number of the foreach pattern and run it through eval()? Long answer to J. Any idea where to start? I can't really think of anything besides the naive approach (ie. trying all permutations) which would take too long to be a valid answer. Btw, the language there says c++ and pascal I think, but i don't care what language you use - I mean really all I want is a hint as to the direction I should proceed in, and perhpas a short explanation to go along with it. It feels like I'm missing something obvious... Of course extended speculation is more than welcome, but I just wanted to clarify that I'm not looking for a full solution here :) Short version of the question: You have a binary string N of length 1-100 (in the question they use H's and G's instead of one's and 0's). You must remove all of the digits from it, in the least number of steps possible. In each step you may remove any number of adjacent digits so long as they are the same. That is, in each step you can remove any number of adjacent G's, or any number of adjacent H's, but you can't remove H's and G's in one step. Example: HHHGHHGHH Solution to the example: 1. HHGGHH (remove middle Hs) 2. HHHH (remove middle Gs) 3. Done (remove Hs) -->Would return '3' as the answer. Note that there can also be a limit placed on how large adjacent groups have to be when you remove them. For example it might say '2', and then you can't remove single digits (you'd have to remove pairs or larger groups at a time). Solution I took Mark Harrison's main algorithm, and Paradigm's grouping idea and used them to create the solution below. • Google App Engine - SiteMap Creation for a social network

  Hi all. I am creating a social tool - I want to allow search engines to pick up "public" user profiles - like twitter and face-book. I have seen all the protocol info at http://www.sitemaps.org and i understand this and how to build such a file - along with an index if i exceed the 50K limit. Where i am struggling is the concept of how i make this run. The site map for my general site pages is simple i can use a tool to create the file - or a script - host the file - submit the file and done. What i then need is a script that will create the site-maps of user profiles. If the profile is changed or if "certain" properties are changed - then i don't know if i update the entry in the map - or do something else? (updating would be a nightmare!) Some users may change their profile. In terms of relevance to the search engine the only way a google or yahoo search will find the users (for my requirement) profile would be for example by means of [user name] and [location] so once the entry for the profile has been added to the map file the only reason to have the search-bot re-index the profile would be if the user changed their user-name - which they cant. or their location - and or set their settings so that their profile would be "hidden" from search engines. I assume my map creation will need to be dynamic. From what i have said above i would imagine that creating a new profile and possible editing certain properties could mark it as needing adding/updating in the sitemap. Assuming i will have millions of profiles added/being edited how can i manage this in a sensible manner. i know i need a script that can append urls as each profile is created i know the script will prob be a TASK - running at a set freq - perhaps the profiles have a property like "indexed" and the TASK sets them to "true" when the profiles are added to the map. I dont see the best way to store the map - do i store it in the datastore i.e; model=sitemaps properties key_name=sitemap_xml_1 (and for my map sitemap_index_xml) mapxml=blobstore (the raw xml map or ror map) full=boolean (set true when url count is 50) # might need this as a shard will tell us To make this work my thoughts are m cache the current site map structure as "sitemap_xml" keep a shard of url count when my task executes 1. build the xml structure for say the first 100 urls marked "index==false" (how many could u run at a time?) 2. test if the current mcache sitemap is full (shardcounter+10050K) 3.a if the map is near full create a new map entry in models "sitemap_xml_2" - update the map_index file (also stored in my model as "sitemap_index" start a new shard - or reset.2 3.b if the map is not full grab it from mcache 4.append the 100 url xml structure 5.save / m cache the map I can now add a handler using a url map/route like /sitemaps/* Get my * as map name and serve the maps from the blobstore/mache on the fly. Now my question is does this work - is this the right way or a good way to start? Will this handle the situation of making sure the search bots update when a user changes their profile - possibly by setting the change freq correctly? - Do i need a more advance system :( ? or have i re-invented the wheel! I hope this is all clear and make some form of sense :-)

• passing multiple queries to view with codeigniter

  I am trying to build a forum with Codeigniter. So far i have the forums themselves displayed and the threads displayed, based on the creating dynamic news tutorial. But that is 2 different pages, i need to obviously display them into one page, like this: Forum 1 - thread 1 - thread 2 - thread 3 Forum 2 - thread 1 - thread 2 etc. And then the next step is obviously to display all the posts in a thread. Most likely with some pagination going on. But that is for later.   I keep getting a segmentation fault when the readAuthor() method is called. Does anybody know why this happens? I just dont know where to begin.

• Different behavior for REF CURSOR between Oracle 10g and 11g when unique index present?

  Description I have an Oracle stored procedure that has been running for 7 or so years both locally on development instances and on multiple client test and production instances running Oracle 8, then 9, then 10, and recently 11. It has worked consistently until the upgrade to Oracle 11g. Basically, the procedure opens a reference cursor, updates a table then completes. In 10g the cursor will contain the expected results but in 11g the cursor will be empty. No DML or DDL changed after the upgrade to 11g. This behavior is consistent on every 10g or 11g instance I've tried (10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4, 11.1.0.7, 11.2.0.1 - all running on Windows). The specific code is much more complicated but to explain the issue in somewhat realistic overview: I have some data in a header table and a bunch of child tables that will be output to PDF. The header table has a boolean (NUMBER(1) where 0 is false and 1 is true) column indicating whether that data has been processed yet. The view is limited to only show rows in that have not been processed (the view also joins on some other tables, makes some inline queries and function calls, etc). So at the time when the cursor is opened, the view shows one or more rows, then after the cursor is opened an update statement runs to flip the flag in the header table, a commit is issued, then the procedure completes. On 10g, the cursor opens, it contains the row, then the update statement flips the flag and running the procedure a second time would yield no data. On 11g, the cursor never contains the row, it's as if the cursor does not open until after the update statement runs. I'm concerned that something may have changed in 11g (hopefully a setting that can be configured) that might affect other procedures and other applications. What I'd like to know is whether anyone knows why the behavior is different between the two database versions and whether the issue can be resolved without code changes. Update 1: I managed to track the issue down to a unique constraint. It seems that when the unique constraint is present in 11g the issue is reproducible 100% of the time regardless of whether I'm running the real world code against the actual objects or the following simple example. Update 2: I was able to completely eliminate the view from the equation. I have updated the simple example to show the problem exists even when querying directly against the table. When the data provider on the front end calls the procedure it will issue an implicit COMMIT when disconnecting from the database anyways. So if I remove the COMMIT in the procedure then yes, the anonymous block demo would work but the real world scenario would not because the COMMIT would still happen. Question Why is 11g behaving differently? Is there anything I can do other than re-write the code?

• SSRS Export to Excel not working through VPN (Juniper SA4000)

  We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000. • SQL Server 08 Express error when connecting to localhost - "Timeout expired". Works with ::1 or 127

  EDIT New info: Navigating to localhost:1434 in Chrome gives me an "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE", while other ports give me an "Oops! This link appears to be broken". So it seems to binding ok there? So here's my setup so far: I've configured Windows Firewall to allow TCP on 1433 and UDP on 1434. I've set up SQL Server to use any IP on Port 1433 (using the SQL Server Configuration Manager). My hosts file contains the default entries ("127.0.0.1 localhost" and "::1 localhost"). I sometimes have a debug session of Visual Web Developer running a webserver, but it's on a specific port (localhost:5XXXX). What I've tried: I CAN ping localhost in a cmd prompt. I CAN connect to the database through SSMS if I specify 127.0.0.1 or ::1 as the server name. I CAN'T connect to the database through SSMS (or ADO.NET) if I specify localhost as the server name. I've tried both Windows and SQL Authentication The error I get is the standard Can't connect to localhost. Additional Information -- Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft Sql Server) Other considerations: Stopping the Visual Web Developer web server from the taskbar doesn't affect the sql problem. The SQL error log says that it's listening on some piped name url at start up (I don't see how this would affect localhost but not 127.0.0.1 though). I could probably just use 127.0.0.1 everywhere, but it scares me that localhost isn't working and I'd like to figure out why. I'm not much of a networking or sql server guy so I'm stuck. If you want me to try anything to help diagnose just put it in a comment and I'll give it a go. • SQL Server 08 Express error when connecting to localhost - "Timeout expired". Works with ::1 or 127.0.0.1

  EDIT New info: Navigating to localhost:1434 in Chrome gives me an "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE", while other ports give me an "Oops! This link appears to be broken". So it seems to binding ok there? So here's my setup so far: I've configured Windows Firewall to allow TCP on 1433 and UDP on 1434. I've set up SQL Server to use any IP on Port 1433 (using the SQL Server Configuration Manager). My hosts file contains the default entries ("127.0.0.1 localhost" and "::1 localhost"). I sometimes have a debug session of Visual Web Developer running a webserver, but it's on a specific port (localhost:5XXXX). What I've tried: I CAN ping localhost in a cmd prompt. I CAN connect to the database through SSMS if I specify 127.0.0.1 or ::1 as the server name. I CAN'T connect to the database through SSMS (or ADO.NET) if I specify localhost as the server name. I've tried both Windows and SQL Authentication The error I get is the standard Can't connect to localhost. Additional Information -- Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (Microsoft Sql Server) Other considerations: Stopping the Visual Web Developer web server from the taskbar doesn't affect the sql problem. The SQL error log says that it's listening on some piped name url at start up (I don't see how this would affect localhost but not 127.0.0.1 though). I could probably just use 127.0.0.1 everywhere, but it scares me that localhost isn't working and I'd like to figure out why. I'm not much of a networking or sql server guy so I'm stuck. If you want me to try anything to help diagnose just put it in a comment and I'll give it a go. • problems mounting an external IDE drive via USB in ubuntu

  I am having a problem connecting a specific IDE drive to my linux box. It's an old drive which I just want to get about 3 GB of files off of. INFO I am trying to connect a 200GB IDE Maxtor Drive, internally and externally... externally: I am using an self powered USB IDE external drive enclosure which I have used to connect various drives, under ubuntu and windows, in the past. The other posts stated it coudl be a problem I think i may have formatted the /dev/sdc partition instead of /dev/sdc1 partition when i originally formatted the drive. internally: I only have one machine left that has an internal IDE interface, and it's got XP on it. I plugged this drive internally into this machine with windows XP and used the ext2/ext3 drivers to mount this drive, but some files have question marks (?) in the file names which is messing up my copy process in windows. I can't delete the files under windows. Ubuntu Linux will not install on my only remaining machine that has IDE controller.   I am having a problem connecting a specific IDE drive to my linux box. It's an old drive which I just want to get about 3 GB of files off of. INFO I am trying to connect a 200GB IDE Maxtor Drive, internally and externally... externally: I am using an self powered USB IDE external drive enclosure which I have used to connect various drives, under ubuntu and windows, in the past. The other posts stated it coudl be a problem I think i may have formatted the /dev/sdc partition instead of /dev/sdc1 partition when i originally formatted the drive. internally: I only have one machine left that has an internal IDE interface, and it's got XP on it. I plugged this drive internally into this machine with windows XP and used the ext2/ext3 drivers to mount this drive, but some files have question marks (?) in the file names which is messing up my copy process in windows. I can't delete the files under windows. Ubuntu Linux will not install on my only remaining machine that has IDE controller.   I have a Ubuntu box with a ProFTPD 1.3.4a Server, when I try to log in via my FTP Client I cannot do anything as it does not allow me to list directories; I have tried logging in as root and as a regular user and tried accessing different paths within the FTP Server. The error I get in my FTP Client is: Status: Retrieving directory listing... • Permissions denied on apache rewrite module virtual host configuration

  All of a sudden I keep getting "Permissions denied" on apache 2 virtualhost once we moved it to its own conf file. I have tried all the suggestions I have found here but none work. • Trying to configure HWIC-3G-HSPA

  I'm trying to configure a couple of Cisco 1941 routes. The are both identical routers. Each as a HWIC-1T (Smart Serial interface) and a HWIC-3G-HSPA 3G interface. These routers are to be sent to remote sites. We have connectivity to one of the sites but if remote site A gors down we lose connectivity to remote site B. The HWIC-1T is the primary WAN interface using frame relay joining the two remote sites We want the HWIC-3G-HSPA to be usable for direct connectivity from head office to remote site B, and also the HWIC-3G-HSPA is do be used for comms between the remote sites when the frame relay is down (happens quite a bit). I initialy tried to do dynamic routing using EIGRP however in my lab setup of laptop - 1941 - 1941 - laptop, I was unable to get end to end connectivity. I later settled on static routing and have got end to end connectivity but only over frame relay, not the HWIC-3G-HSPA. I've tried using kron to ping the local HWIC-3G-HSPA interface (cellular 0/1/0) every minute but that hasn't been successful. Manually pinging the IP assigned (by the telco) to ce0/1/0 does bring the interface up. Any ideas? Thanks

• mdadm: Win7-install created a boot partition on one of my RAID6 drives. How to rebuild?

  My problem happened when I attempted to install Windows 7 on it's own SSD. The Linux OS I used which has knowledge of the software RAID system is on a SSD that I disconnected prior to the install. This was so that windows (or I) wouldn't inadvertently mess it up. However, and in retrospect, foolishly, I left the RAID disks connected, thinking that windows wouldn't be so ridiculous as to mess with a HDD that it sees as just unallocated space. Boy was I wrong! After copying over the installation files to the SSD (as expected and desired), it also created an ntfs partition on one of the RAID disks. Both unexpected and totally undesired! . I changed out the SSDs again, and booted up in linux. mdadm didn't seem to have any problem assembling the array as before, but if I tried to mount the array, I got the error message: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so dmesg: EXT4-fs (md0): ext4_check_descriptors: Block bitmap for group 0 not in group (block 1318081259)! EXT4-fs (md0): group descriptors corrupted! I then used qparted to delete the newly created ntfs partition on /dev/sdd so that it matched the other three /dev/sd{b,c,e}, and requested a resync of my array with echo repair > /sys/block/md0/md/sync_action This took around 4 hours, and upon completion, dmesg reports: md: md0: requested-resync done. A bit brief after a 4-hour task, though I'm unsure as to where other log files exist (I also seem to have messed up my sendmail configuration). This is what I suggest I should attempt to do: Tell mdadm that /dev/sdd (the one that windows wrote into) isn't reliable anymore, pretend it is newly re-introduced to the array, and reconstruct its content based on the other three drives. I also could be totally wrong in my assumptions, that the creation of the ntfs partition on /dev/sdd and subsequent deletion has changed something that cannot be fixed this way. My question: Help, what should I do? If I should do what I suggested , how do I do that? From reading documentation, etc, I would think maybe: mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --set-faulty /dev/sdd mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --remove /dev/sdd mdadm --manage /dev/md0 --re-add /dev/sdd However, the documentation examples suggest /dev/sdd1, which seems strange to me, as there is no partition there as far as linux is concerned, just unallocated space. Maybe these commands won't work without. Maybe it makes sense to mirror the partition table of one of the other raid devices that weren't touched, before --re-add. Something like: sfdisk -d /dev/sdb | sfdisk /dev/sdd Bonus question: Why would the Windows 7 installation do something so st...potentially dangerous?   Trying to setup ASA5505. Semi working but having issues with accessing services from the outside. ASA5505 Basic License, Version 8.2. (plus upgrade to unlimited inside hosts). Mail started flowing (Domain POP was successful) etc. etc. But I forgot to check if webmail worked from the outside admittedly. But the webservers at 172.21.37.17 and 172.21.37.24 still didn't respond from the outside world. Although I was able to PPTP VPN in on 321.321.39.10 (interface) which is the outside interface IP address. and it is static mapped to 172.21.37.20. So I'm thinking there must be something wrong with NAT somewhere? no response from 321.321.39.11 to 321.321.39.14.. Could anyone look over the config and please let me know what I've done wrong? Is there something I've missed? well obviously but.. please help! Thank you.
