  • What's up with LDoms: Part 5 - A few Words about Consoles

    - by Stefan Hinker
Back again to look at a detail of LDom configuration that is often forgotten - the virtual console server. Remember, LDoms are SPARC systems.  As such, each guest will have it's own OBP running.  And to connect to that OBP, the administrator will need a console connection.  Since it's OBP, and not some x86 BIOS, this console will be very serial in nature ;-)  It's really very much like in the good old days, where we had a terminal concentrator where all those serial cables ended up in.  Just like with other components in LDoms, the virtualized solution looks very similar. Every LDom guest requires exactly one console connection.  Envision this similar to the RS-232 port on older SPARC systems.  The LDom framework provides one or more console services that provide access to these connections.  This would be the virtual equivalent of a network terminal server (NTS), where all those serial cables are plugged in.  In the physical world, we'd have a list somewhere, that would tell us which TCP-Port of the NTS was connected to which server.  "ldm list" does just that: root@sun # ldm list NAME STATE FLAGS CONS VCPU MEMORY UTIL UPTIME primary active -n-cv- UART 16 7680M 0.4% 27d 8h 22m jupiter bound ------ 5002 20 8G mars active -n---- 5000 2 8G 0.5% 55d 14h 10m venus active -n---- 5001 2 8G 0.5% 56d 40m pluto inactive ------ 4 4G The column marked "CONS" tells us, where to reach the console of each domain. In the case of the primary domain, this is actually a (more) physical connection - it's the console connection of the physical system, which is either reachable via the ILOM of that system, or directly via the serial console port on the chassis. All the other guests are reachable through the console service which we created during the inital setup of the system.  Note that pluto does not have a port assigned.  This is because pluto is not yet bound.  (Binding can be viewed very much as the assembly of computer parts - CPU, Memory, disks, network adapters and a serial console cable are all put together when binding the domain.)  Unless we set the port number explicitly, LDoms Manager will do this on a first come, first serve basis.  For just a few domains, this is fine.  For larger deployments, it might be a good idea to assign these port numbers manually using the "ldm set-vcons" command.  However, there is even better magic associated with virtual consoles. You can group several domains into one console group, reachable through one TCP port of the console service.  This can be useful when several groups of administrators are to be given access to different domains, or for other grouping reasons.  Here's an example: root@sun # ldm set-vcons group=planets service=console jupiter root@sun # ldm set-vcons group=planets service=console pluto root@sun # ldm bind jupiter root@sun # ldm bind pluto root@sun # ldm list NAME STATE FLAGS CONS VCPU MEMORY UTIL UPTIME primary active -n-cv- UART 16 7680M 6.1% 27d 8h 24m jupiter bound ------ 5002 200 8G mars active -n---- 5000 2 8G 0.6% 55d 14h 12m pluto bound ------ 5002 4 4G venus active -n---- 5001 2 8G 0.5% 56d 42m root@sun # telnet localhost 5002 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. sun-vnts-planets: h, l, c{id}, n{name}, q:l DOMAIN ID DOMAIN NAME DOMAIN STATE 2 jupiter online 3 pluto online sun-vnts-planets: h, l, c{id}, n{name}, q:npluto Connecting to console "pluto" in group "planets" .... Press ~? for control options .. What I did here was add the two domains pluto and jupiter to a new console group called "planets" on the service "console" running in the primary domain.  Simply using a group name will create such a group, if it doesn't already exist.  By default, each domain has its own group, using the domain name as the group name.  The group will be available on port 5002, chosen by LDoms Manager because I didn't specify it.  If I connect to that console group, I will now first be prompted to choose the domain I want to connect to from a little menu. Finally, here's an example how to assign port numbers explicitly: root@sun # ldm set-vcons port=5044 group=pluto service=console pluto root@sun # ldm bind pluto root@sun # ldm list NAME STATE FLAGS CONS VCPU MEMORY UTIL UPTIME primary active -n-cv- UART 16 7680M 3.8% 27d 8h 54m jupiter active -t---- 5002 200 8G 0.5% 30m mars active -n---- 5000 2 8G 0.6% 55d 14h 43m pluto bound ------ 5044 4 4G venus active -n---- 5001 2 8G 0.4% 56d 1h 13m With this, pluto would always be reachable on port 5044 in its own exclusive console group, no matter in which order other domains are bound. Now, you might be wondering why we always have to mention the console service name, "console" in all the examples here.  The simple answer is because there could be more than one such console service.  For all "normal" use, a single console service is absolutely sufficient.  But the system is flexible enough to allow more than that single one, should you need them.  In fact, you could even configure such a console service on a domain other than the primary (or control domain), which would make that domain a real console server.  I actually have a customer who does just that - they want to separate console access from the control domain functionality.  But this is definately a rather sophisticated setup. Something I don't want to go into in this post is access control.  vntsd, which is the daemon providing all these console services, is fully RBAC-aware, and you can configure authorizations for individual users to connect to console groups or individual domain's consoles.  If you can't wait until I get around to security, check out the man page of vntsd. Further reading: The Admin Guide is rather reserved on this subject.  I do recommend to check out the Reference Manual. The manpage for vntsd will discuss all the control sequences as well as the grouping and authorizations mentioned here.

  • Chart Filtering

    - by Tim Dexter
Interesting question from a colleague this week. Can you add a filter to a chart to just show a specific set of data? In an RTF template, you need to do a little finagling in the chart definition. In an online template, a couple of clicks and you're done. RTF Build your chart as you would normally to include all the data to start with. Now flip to the Advanced tab to see the code behind the chart. Its not very pretty but with a little effort you can get it looking a little more friendly. Here's my chart showing employees and their salaries. <Graph depthAngle="50" depthRadius="8" seriesEffect="SE_AUTO_GRADIENT"> <LegendArea visible="true"/>  <Title text="Executive Department Only" visible="true" horizontalAlignment="CENTER"/>  <LocalGridData colCount="{count(.//G_2)}" rowCount="1">   <RowLabels>    <Label>SALARY</Label>   </RowLabels>   <ColLabels>    <xsl:for-each select=".//G_2">     <Label><xsl:value-of select="EMP_NAME"/></Label>    </xsl:for-each>   </ColLabels>   <DataValues>    <RowData>     <xsl:for-each select=".//G_2">      <Cell><xsl:value-of select="SALARY"/></Cell>     </xsl:for-each>    </RowData>   </DataValues>  </LocalGridData> </Graph> Note the emboldened text. Its currently grabbing all values in the G_2 level of the data. We can use an XPATH expression to filter the data to the set we want to see. In my case I want to only see the employees that are in the Executive department. My  data is structured thus:   <DATA_DS>     <G_1>         <DEPARTMENT_NAME>Accounting</DEPARTMENT_NAME>         <G_2>             <MANAGER>Higgins</MANAGER>             <EMPLOYEE_ID>206</EMPLOYEE_ID>             <HIRE_DATE>2002-06-07T00:00:00.000-04:00</HIRE_DATE>             <SALARY>8300</SALARY>             <JOB_TITLE>Public Accountant</JOB_TITLE>             <PARAS>11000</PARAS>             <EMP_NAME>William Gietz</EMP_NAME>         </G_2> So the XPATH expression Im going to use to limit the data to the Executive department would be .//G_2[../DEPARTMENT_NAME='Executive'] Note the ../ moves the parser up the XML tree to be able to test the DEPARTMENT_NAME value. I added this XPATH expression to the three instances that need it ColCount, ColLabels and RowData. Its simple enough to do. Testing your XPATH expression is easier to do using a table of data. Please note, as soon as you make changes to the chart code. Going back to the Builder tab, you'll find that everything is grayed out. I recommend you make all the changes you can via the chart dialog before updating the code. Online Template Implementing the filter is much simpler, there is a dialog box to help you out. Add you chart and fill out the various data points you want to show. then hit the Filter item in the ribbon above the chart. That will pop the filter dialog box where you can then add a filter to the chart.   You can add multiple filters if needed and of course you can use the Manage Filters button to re-open and edit the filters. Pretty straightforward stuff!

I am taking over an application server and discover that it contain the following settings: AddType text/html php Although it works, but my understanding is that it should set as following: AddType application/x-httpd-php php .php What are the key differences between the two settings? Although at this point my application (Built using CakePHP) is running fine with either configuration, but I am not sure if it will cause any strange behaviour. Thanks!

  • nginx php5-fpm "File not found" -- FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown"

    - by jmfayard
    so I'm trying to run for the first time the nginx web server with php5-fpm on a debian wheezy server Hitting a php file display simply File not found I have done my research (waste a lot of hours actually ;), there are a lot of people that have similar problems, yet I didn't succeed to correct it with what worked for them. I still have the same error : $ tail /var/log/nginx/access.log /var/log/nginx/error.log /var/log/php5-fpm.log | less == /var/log/nginx/error.log <== 2013/10/26 21:36:00 [error] 6900#0: *1971 FastCGI sent in stderr: "Primary script unknown" while reading response header from upstream, I have tried a lot of things, it's hard to remember what. I have put my config files on github my /etc/nginx/nginx.conf my /etc/php5/fpm/php-fpm.conf Currently, the nginx.conf configuration uses this... server { server_name mydomain.tld; root /srv/data1/test; location ~ \.php$ { try_files $uri =404; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } } /etc/php5/fpm/pool.d/www.conf contains listen = 127.0.0.1:9000 I have tried the unix socket version, same thing. fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; I made sure the server is started $ netstat -alnp | grep LISTEN tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:9000 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 6913/php-fpm.conf) tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:3306 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 4785/mysqld tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:842 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2286/inetd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2812/rpcbind tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 5710/nginx tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2560/sshd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:443 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 5710/nginx tcp6 0 0 :::111 :::* LISTEN 2812/rpcbind unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 323648 6574/tmux /tmp//tmux-1000/default unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 619072 6790/fcgiwrap /var/run/fcgiwrap.socket unix 2 [ ACC ] SEQPACKET LISTENING 323 464/udevd /run/udev/control unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 610686 2812/rpcbind /var/run/rpcbind.sock unix 2 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 318633 4785/mysqld /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock Each time I modify the nginx.conf file, I make sure to relaunch this command nginx -t && nginx -s reload && echo "nginx configuration reloaded" and same thing for php5-fpm /etc/init.d/php5-fpm restart Thanks for your help :-)

  • Installing WindowsAuthentication breaks authentication / web.config?

    - by Ian Quigley
I have a clean Windows 2008 R2 box (on a VM) and have installed IIS 7.5 with default options. I then copied a website to it (from Windows 7, IIS 7) and after a little tweaking the website is working fine. The website is currently using and working with Anonymous Authentication. I have gone back to the Windows Components/Sever Manager, Roles - Security and ticked and installed Windows Authentication. When I check my server in IIS (top level above sites) - Authentication, I see Anonymous Authentication (enabled) ASP.NET Impersonation (disabled) Forms Authentication (disbaled) Windows Authentication (enabled) When I check my default website - Authentication, I see as above but "Retrieving status" and an error dialog saying There was an error while performing this operation. Details: Filename c:\inetpub\wwwroot\screwturnwiki\web.config Line number: 96 Error: This configuration section cannot be used in this path. This happens when the section is being locked at the parent level. Locking is either by default (overriderModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicity by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="False". I have tried hand editing the web.config with no success. (How to use locking in IIS7 Configuration) UN-installing Windows Authentication happily returns my site to working with Anonymous Authentication, and allows me to enable/disable these three options. FYI. I am using ScrewTurnWiki with the Active Directory plug in. It all works fine under Windows 7 IIS 7 locally (has been for months) Web.Config <system.webServer> (edit) <handlers> ( deleted removes/adds ) </handlers> <security> <authentication> 96: <windowsAuthentication enabled="true" useKernelMode="true"> <extendedProtection tokenChecking="Allow" /> <providers> <clear /> <add value="NTLM" /> <add value="Negotiate" /> </providers> </windowsAuthentication> </authentication> </security>

  • Unable to set up SSL support for Apache 2 on Debian

    - by Francesco
I am trying to set up ssl support for Apache 2 on Debian. Versions are: Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 apache2 2.2.16-6+squeeze1 I followed a lot of how-tos for days but I couldn't make it work. Here are my steps and configuration files (ServerName and DocumentRoot are changed for privacy, in case tell me): # mkdir /etc/apache2/ssl # openssl req $@ -new -x509 -days 365 -nodes -out /etc/apache2/apache.pem -keyout /etc/apache2/apache.pem at this point I've a doubt about permissions on apache.pem, at this step they are -rw-r--r-- 1 root root Maybe it has to belong to www-data? Then I enable ssl-mod with # a2enmod ssl # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart I modify /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl in this way (I put port 8080 because I need port 443 for another purpose): <VirtualHost *:8080> SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/apache2/ssl/apache.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/apache2/ssl/apache.pem ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot /var/www <Directory /> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. My /etc/apache2/ports.conf is the following: # If you just change the port or add more ports here, you will likely also # have to change the VirtualHost statement in # /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default # This is also true if you have upgraded from before 2.2.9-3 (i.e. from # Debian etch). See /usr/share/doc/apache2.2-common/NEWS.Debian.gz and # README.Debian.gz #NameVirtualHost *:80 Listen 80 <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl # to <VirtualHost *:443> # Server Name Indication for SSL named virtual hosts is currently not # supported by MSIE on Windows XP. #NameVirtualHost *:8080 Listen 8080 </IfModule> <IfModule mod_gnutls.c> Listen 8080 </IfModule> Any suggestion? • installing bitnami stacks with virtualbox

    - by dreftymac
Background: I cannot seem to get the vmdk files to work with VirtualBox as a way of using Bitnami stacks. The documentation says you can use VirtualBox, but there is no detail except how to use VMWare player. I know how to get .iso files working with virtual box, but not the files that Bitnami uses. Question: Anyone have experience getting this specific configuration to work?

I've taken the liberty to test both SCOM 2007 and Zenoss and found the following: SCOM 2007 Pros: Great MS Windows server monitoring and reporting In-depth configuration and easily integrates into a "MS datacenter" Cons: limited network device monitoring support (without 3rd party plugins) expensive difficult learning curve Zenoss Pros: Open Source (free) decent server monitoring for Windows, great monitoring for Linux decent network device monitoring Cons: not as in-depth as SCOM (for Windows at least) So my question to you folks is this: Given the above, and given that I'm trying to monitor 55 Windows servers, 1 Linux server, 2 ESX servers, and Juniper equipment...which would you recommend?

  • SMTP 552 4.3.1 Session size exceeds fixed maximum session size.

    - by JL
I'm having a frustrating problem with one of our clients who is running an exchange SMTP server. I have an emailing component that is written in .net and I've specifically used Mono DLL's to ensure that the email component sends the ELO and QUIT command for each message it sends. Each mail I send will never exceed 10MB's including attachments, which is lower than the session size value set in the clients exchange configuration. Still the problem persists. Any ideas where to look?

  • pfsense peer-to-peer OpenVPN not connecting

    - by John P
I'm trying to setup a peer-to-peer OpenVPN between two pfsense servers running 2.0.1-RELEASE, but the client keeps getting the connection dropped, with a status of "reconnecting; ping-restart" and nothing appears to be routing between them. Both these firewalls are also doing PPTP VPNs that are working correctly. • Remote Desktop event ID 20499. No noticeable issues

    - by Marc05
I get a warning event with ID 20499 for TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager.The error is: Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \server.domain.home for user administrator. Yet, I don't see any issues (I'm guessing because that user is on the machine local). Why am I getting this warning? I'm on Windows Server 2012 R2 connecting from a Windows 8.1.

  • SQL Server Agent was not running on Server Dynamics CRM 2013

    - by No1_Melman
I'm trying to install Dynamics CRM 2013 on a server. This server is on a VM. There are several other VMs, an ADDS & DNS, a MSSQL and a WebServer VM. Each server is a Windows Server 2012 R2. The SQL Server is 2012 Enterprise. Each VM is part of the main Domain, set by the ADDS & DNS. NSLookup confirms I can see the computer at the right IP address. Each separate VM has its own static IP, the DNS is set to the ADDS & DNS. I use the domain administrator to log into all the servers, and make the that domain administrator a local administrator. I've set up all the domain users for the CRM and gave them appropriate permissions, I have also added the accounts to the appropriate places, such that the CRM Deployment user is in the SQL security. The SQL Agent is running. SQL server configuration manager has SQL server network configuration TCP/IP enabled to allow remote connections. The SQL server has the domain user as a administrator, which is the same user being used to install the CRM. In the CRM setup i point to the [Servername]\[Instance] and I have also tried just the [Servername]. to make this easier I called the server MSSQL and left the instance name to the default. I even install the MSSQL instance as the domain administrator. CRM can find the ReportServer url. I have enable all the ports required, including: 135, 1433, 1434, 2382, 2383, 4022. 1434 UDP. I feel like I have absolutely done everything, I have google many times and tried all the different methods, and for the life of me I cant seem to get the CRM setup to find the SQL server agent. It passes everything else perfectly fine. I can even ping the MSSQL server. What is the problem, why does the CRM still keep giving the error: SQLSERVERAGENT (SQLSERVERAGENT) service is not running on the server MSSQL On the MSSQL server, the name of the sql server agent service is: SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)

  • passenger-status - ERROR: Phusion Passenger doesn't seem to be running

    - by Casual Coder
My server is: Server version: Apache/2.2.11 (Ubuntu) Server built: Aug 16 2010 17:44:11 My ruby version ruby 1.9.2p136 (2010-12-25 revision 30365) [x86_64-linux]. I've installed passenger 3.0.7 via RubyGems. I've run passenger-install-apache2-module and everything went fine. I've modified configuration (load module, edit virtualhost etc.) and restarted Apache. Module is loading fine (apache does not complain). But Passenger is obviously not working: sudo passenger-status ERROR: Phusion Passenger doesn't seem to be running. How can I get it working ? Edit 1: /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/passenger.load LoadModule passenger_module /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/passenger-3.0.7/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so Root of passenger: passenger-config --root /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/passenger-3.0.7 Apache VirtualHost sub URI configuration in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/railsapps: <VirtualHost <IP ADDRESS>:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerName my.server.name PassengerRoot /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/passenger-3.0.7 PassengerRuby /usr/bin/ruby RailsEnv development DocumentRoot /www/vhosts/railsapps <Directory /www/vhosts/railsapps> Options FollowSymlinks -MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> RailsBaseURI /siteA <Directory /www/vhosts/railsapps/siteA> Options -MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> RailsBaseURI /siteB <Directory /www/vhosts/railsapps/siteB> AllowOverride All Options -MultiViews Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> LogLevel info ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/railsapps_error.log CustomLog /var/log/apache2/railsapps_access.log combined </VirtualHost> Of course as in 'users guide apache.html' siteA and siteB are symlinks to siteA/public and siteB/public absolute paths respectively. Edit 2: In logs there is nothing related to passenger. Permissions are also fine (read and executable) on directories in paths. Even if it was some misconfiguration or permission problem isn't passenger suppose to be running? I mean sudo passenger-status should at least output --- general information ---. When I place some test html file in railsapps directory it is served fine. /var/log/apache2/railsapps_error.log [Sun Jun 19 12:19:08 2011] [error] [client <IP>] Directory index forbidden by Options directive: /www/vhosts/railsapps/siteA/ [Sun Jun 19 12:19:08 2011] [error] [client <IP>] File does not exist: /www/vhosts/railsapps/favicon.ico

  • Cannot SSH after resetting firewall on VPS

    - by Thomas Buckley
I'm having trouble trying to SSH to my Debian 5 VPS with blacknight. It was working fine until I did the following: Logged into 'Parallels Infrastructure Manager' - Container - Firewall - Set to 'Normal Firewall settings'. It told me there was an error with the IPTables and offered the option again with a checkbox to 'reset' firewall settings, I selected this. I can see that that the default rules are been applied ( anything from anyone on any port and allowing anything to happen). Whenever I attempt to SSH I get the following debug info: thomas@localmachine:~/.ssh$ ssh -v thomas@hostname OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-7ubuntu1, OpenSSL 1.0.0e 6 Sep 2011 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug1: Connecting to hostname [***********] port 22. debug1: Connection established. debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_rsa type 1 debug1: Checking blacklist file /usr/share/ssh/blacklist.RSA-4096 debug1: Checking blacklist file /etc/ssh/blacklist.RSA-4096 debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_rsa-cert type -1 debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_dsa type -1 debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_dsa-cert type -1 debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_ecdsa type -1 debug1: identity file /home/thomas/.ssh/id_ecdsa-cert type -1 debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5 debug1: match: OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5 pat OpenSSH* debug1: Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0 debug1: Local version string SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-7ubuntu1 debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT sent debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEXINIT received debug1: kex: server->client aes128-ctr hmac-md5 none debug1: kex: client->server aes128-ctr hmac-md5 none debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REQUEST(1024<1024<8192) sent debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GROUP debug1: SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_INIT sent debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REPLY debug1: Server host key: RSA ************************************* debug1: Host 'hostname' is known and matches the RSA host key. debug1: Found key in /home/thomas/.ssh/known_hosts:2 debug1: ssh_rsa_verify: signature correct debug1: SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS sent debug1: expecting SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS debug1: SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS received debug1: Roaming not allowed by server debug1: SSH2_MSG_SERVICE_REQUEST sent debug1: SSH2_MSG_SERVICE_ACCEPT received debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey debug1: Next authentication method: publickey debug1: Offering RSA public key: /home/thomas/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey debug1: Trying private key: /home/thomas/.ssh/id_dsa debug1: Trying private key: /home/thomas/.ssh/id_ecdsa debug1: No more authentication methods to try. • Cheapest service to host a DNS server?

    - by mmdave
Apologies for sounding dumb. I'm still trying to figure my way around. I specifically need to setup a public DNS server and would like to know which would be the cheapest datacenter with the minimum configuration of a server to make it work... i'm not looking to create an openDNS like service which handles millions of queries, but what is the minimum i'll need if i wanted to do that ?? Thanks!

  • Apache2 name based virtual host always redirect 301

    - by Francesco
I've got a server (runnging Debian Squeeze) with Apache 2.2, there are 4 site running there. I'm using namebased virtulhosts because I've got a single IP. Initial configuration has been made with Webmin and probably something has been messed up.. firstdomain.com is my default domain and is working correctly, seconddomain.com is another site that is working. Now I want to add lastdomain.tk as a new site, so I've made this config file: root@webamp:/etc/apache2# cat sites-available/lastdomain.tk.conf <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/lastdomain.tk ServerName www.alazanes.tk ServerAlias alazanes.tk </VirtualHost> I've added it to enabled-sites and restarted apache. The problem is that if I go to lastdomain.tk (or www.lastdomain.tk) I'm redirected to firstdomain.com with a 301 redirect. Both lastdomain.tk and www.lastdomain.tk are A DNS records pointing to my IP address. Strange thing is that if a change DocumentRoot of lastdomain.tk to DocumentRoot /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/Sito_SecondDomain I correctly see seconddomain.com content without being redirected (lastdomain.tk is showed on address bar) These are the other configurations I'm using. root@webamp:/root# source /etc/apache2/envvars ; /usr/sbin/apache2 -S VirtualHost configuration: wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: *:443 webamp.firstdomain.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ssl.bbteam:1) *:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server firstdomain.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:7) port 80 namevhost firstdomain.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default:7) port 80 namevhost www.lastdomain.tk (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/lastdomain.tk.conf:1) ## other domains ## port 80 namevhost seconddomain.com (/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/seconddomain.com.conf:1) Syntax OK Content of default config file is root@webamp:/etc/apache2# cat sites-available/default <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName firstdomain.com ServerAlias www.firstdomain.com direct.firstdomain.com DocumentRoot /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/Sito_Web_Apache_su_80 ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined </VirtualHost> content of second domain config file is root@webamp:/etc/apache2# cat sites-available/seconddomain.com.conf <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/Sito_SecondDomain ServerName seconddomain.com ServerAlias www.seconddomain.com direct.seconddomain.com #redirect 301 / http://www.seconddomain.com/ <Directory "/home/server/Condivisione/RAID/Sito_SecondDomain"> allow from all Options +Indexes </Directory> </VirtualHost> Probably a file permission problem? root@webamp:/root# ls -lh /home/server/Condivisione/RAID/ total 7.1M drwxrwxr-x 15 www-data server 4.0K Jun 5 13:29 Sito_SecondDomain drwxrwxrwx 23 server server 4.0K Jun 7 16:22 Sito_Web_Apache_su_80 drwxrwxr-x 17 www-data server 4.0K Jun 8 09:56 alazanes.tk Do someone have an idea of what is happening? Thanks, Francesco

  • How to run inetd daemon on Cygwin?

    - by WilliamKF
I want to get inetd daemon working on a machine running Cygwin. I know how to do this on Centos 4, but on Cygwin it does not seem to work. Commands I tried are: cygrunsrv -I xinetd -d "Cygwin Xinetd" -p /usr/sbin/xinetd -e CYGWIN=ntsec cygrunsrv -S xinetd /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd start On Linux, I would just do: /sbin/service xinetd restart After editing my configuration file: /etc/xinetd.d/<myAppHere> I've created this file on Cygwin, but can't seem to figure out how to start the service.
