  • How a war file gets deployed in any application server?

    I know that when a war file is created of my web application, i have to deploy it, that is if i am using JBoss i have to copy it to deploy folder and if using WAS i have to install it. But i want to know, When i start the server from where the server starts deploying my application. that is which is the entry point to start loading my classes, properties ,DB connections etc..   • Which MS technologies would be suited for a data intensive application?

    I'm a junior VB.net developer with little application design knowledge. I've been reading a lot of material online regarding different design patterns, frameworks, and methodologies. It's become a bit confusing for me. Right now I'm trying to decide on what language would be best suited to convert an existing VB6 application (with SQL server backend.) I need to update the UI and add more user functionality and reporting capabilities. Initially I was thinking of using WPF and attempting the MVVM model for this big project. Reports would be generated from SSRS. A peer suggested using ASP.net and I don't have enough experience to determine what would be better. The senior programmers here are stuck on using VB6 and don't have any input on what to use. They are encouraging me to use the latest technologies. This application would be for ~20 users in a central location. Ideally I would stick to a Microsoft .net language. Current interface is similar to a datagrid table where the user would click in to see the detail of each record. They would need to have multiple records open at any given time.     Hello, I have a file with format: [name][number][amount] number is taken as a string. and im using it in a strcmp. Problem is that i get a segmentation fault. I know that on most cases when strcmp signs segmentation fault it means that one of the parameters is null or cant find its "end" ('\0').     I keep getting a segmentation fault when i test the following code. I am currently unable to find an answer after having searched the web. a = (byte *)malloc(sizeof(byte) * x ) ; for( i = 0 ; i < x-1 ; i++ ) { scanf("%d", &y ) ; a[i] = y ; } Both y and x are initialized. X is the size of the array determined by the user. The segmentation fault is on the second to last integer to be added, i found this by adding printf("roar") ; before setting a[i] to y and entering one number at a time. Byte is a typedef of an unsigned char.     Hi all, I am trying to create a simple axis web service. I am using axis 1.2.1, JDK 6, Weblogic. Everything seems to be fine except invoking the web service. When I try to invoke the service it gives me an 'Unautherized' error. Any ideas of what am I doing wrong?   • Unable to debug WCF service in VS2008 after UserNamePasswordValidator fault

    Hi! I have a WCF service that I secure with a custom UserNamePasswordValidator and Message security running over wsHttpBinding. The release code works great. Unfortunately, when I try to run in debug mode after having previously used invalid credentials (the current credentials ARE valid!) VS2008 displays an annoying dialog box (more on this below). A simplified version of my Validate method from the validator might look like the following: public override void Validate(string userName, string password) { if (password != "ABC123") throw new FaultException("The password is invalid!"); } The client receives a MessageSecurityException with InnerException set to the FaultException I explictly threw. This is workable since my client can display the message text of the original FaultException I wanted the user to see. Unfortunately, in all subsequent service calls VS2008 displays an "Unable to automatically debug..." dialog. The only way I can stop this from happening is to exit VS2008, get back in and connect to my service using correct credentials. I should also add that this occurs even when I create a brand new proxy on each and every call. There's no chance MY channel is faulted when I make a call. Its likely, however, that VS2008 hangs on to the previously faulted channel and tries to use it for debugging purposes. Needless to say, this sucks! The entire reason I'm entering "bad" credentials is to test the "bad-credential" handling. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get around this bug (?!?) I'd be very very appreciative....

In my web.config servicebehaviour tag consist <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> Any idea where I'm going wrong

Here's the situation: I can run Report Builder from localhost My coworker can run Report Builder on his Vista computer Another coworker can run Report Builder on his XP SP3 computer (IE7) I can NOT run Report Builder on my XP SP3 computer (IE7) I'm told that it could be anything from an errant registry entry to a group policy problem. So, given a subset k of numbers n, generate all the possible combination n!/k!(n-k)! The recursive method would give a combination, given the previous one combination. A non recursive method would generate a combination of a given value of loop index i. I approached the problem with this code: Tested with n = 4 and k = 3, and it works, but if I change k to a number 3 it does not work. Is it due to the fact that (n-k)! in case of n = 4 and k = 3 is 1. and if k 3 it will be more than 1?   • segmentation fault on Unix - possible stack corruption

    hello, i'm looking at a core from a process running in Unix. Usually I can work my around and root into the backtrace to try identify a memory issue. In this case, I'm not sure how to proceed. Firstly the backtrace only gives 3 frames where I would expect alot more. For those frames, all the function parameters presented appears to completely invalid. There are not what I would expect. Some pointer parameters have the following associated with them - Cannot access memory at address Would this suggest some kind of complete stack corruption. I ran the process with libumem and all the buffers were reported as being clean. umem_status reported nothing either. so basically I'm stumped. What is the likely causes? What should I look for in code since libumem appears to have reported no errors. Any suggestions on how I can debug furhter? any extra features in mdb I should consider? thank you.

    Given some values, I'd like to make a (pretty darn) unique result. $unique1 = generate(array('ab034', '981kja7261', '381jkfa0', 'vzcvqdx2993883i3ifja8', '0plnmjfys')); //now $unique1 == "sqef3452y"; I also need something that's pretty close to return the same result. In this case, 20% of the values is missing. $unique2 = generate(array('ab034', '981kja7261', '381jkfa0', 'vzcvqdx2993883i3ifja8')); //also $unique2 == "sqef3452y"; I'm not sure where to begin with such an algorithm but I have some assumptions. I assume that the more values given, the more accurate the resulting ID – in other words, using 20 values is better than 5. I also assume that a confidence factor can be calculated and adjusted. What would be nice to have is a weight factor where one can say 'value 1 is more important than value 3'. This would require a multidimensional array for input instead of one dimension. I just mashed on the keyboard for these values, but in practice they may be short or long alpha numeric values.
