• WPF DataGrid : CanContentScroll property causing odd behavior

  i have a solution where i generate a DataGrid (or multiple instances) based on user criteria.. each grid keeps receiving data as it comes in via ObservableCollection the problem i had, was that the scroll acted weird. It was choppy, and scrollbar would resize it self while scrolling. than i found.. CanContentScroll property! It completely fixes the weird scrolling behavior bringing me temporary bliss and happiness. however, it causes 2 unfortunate side effects. whenever i re-create grid instances and bind them to my observable collection, it freezes my entire window for 5 seconds. when my grid grows to a big size, this delay can last for 30 seconds. when i call TradeGrid.ScrollIntoView(TradeGrid.Items(TradeGrid.Items.Count - 1)) to scroll to the bottom, it jumps to bottom and than back to the top. is there another way to achieve smooth scrolling perhaps?

• C# Audio - How to time stretch (different tempo, same pitch)

  I'm trying to make a winform app in C# (VS2008) that can load an mp3 (other formats would be nice, but mp3 at a minimum) and be able to adjust the playback speed (tempo) without affecting pitch. I really don't need any other audio effects. I tried using DirectShow but that doesn't seem to offer time stretch capabilities. I was able to incorporate irrklang but that does not seem to have the time stretch capability either. So now I've moved on to SoundTouch. That certainly has the capabilities but I'm very unclear on how to implement in C#. After a few days of this, about all I've accomplished is using DLLImport on the SoundTouch DLL and am able to successfully retrieve a version number. At this point, I'm not even sure if I can do what I'm trying to do with SoundTouch. Can anyone offer some guidance either on how to implement SoundTouch or a different library with the capabilities that I'm looking for? Thank you.

  Hi, I'm looking for the JDK source code for Java 1.5 update 18 (on win XP). I don't want to install a JDK, I don't want the source code for the entire VM, just the source for the JDK libs, so that when I navigate to a Java class in Eclipse, it opens up the source code. Is it possible to download just src.zip (or a zip that contains src.zip)? I don't want to install a new JDK/JRE just to get access to src.zip as I'm concerned that this will have undesirable side-effects such as modifying JAVA_HOME. Thanks, Don

• Arguments of using WCF/OData as access layer instead of EF/L2S/nHibernate directly

  We develop mostly low traffic but highly specialized web applications. Normally we use L2S, EF or nHibernate as access layer and then throws Asp.Net MVC to it and in which for normal crud operations we query the ISession/DataContext directly but for more advanced functions/side effects we put it in a some kind of service layer. Now, i was think about publishing the data through OData (WCF Data Service) and query that from the controllers (or even from jQuery when the a good template engine shows up) and publish the service operations through a WCF service (or as custom methods on the WCF Data Service?). What advantages/disadvantages does this architecture poses? Do I gain something except higher complexity and latency? Better separations of concerns (or is it just a illusion)?

  hi friends, I want to set Image Brightness and contras of images that are in my photo library, I got the code from http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/samplecode/GLImageProcessing/Introduction/Intro.html, but that will work on the EAGL layer i.e. all the effects are provided on image that is put initially not on the image that are selected from the photo library ,as this function will work on the view(EAGLview) and not on the image view. so how to change the brightness and contras of any images that are selected from the photo library?? if any one know this please let me know.. regards viral.

• Cannot change font size in Tk

  Hello, I'm trying, for the first time, to create a GUI in Ruby using Tk. I've copied a code snippet from one of the numerous web tutorials and try to change the font for one of the labels, but nothing seems to affect how the text is presented. Here's the code: require 'tk' root = TkRoot.new('title'=>'MCIS') defaultFont = TkFont.new("weight"=>'bold', "size"=>20) Lbl = TkLabel.new(root) do text "Boooo" borderwidth 5 font defaultFont foreground "red" relief "groove" grid('column'=>3, 'row'=>0) end Tk.mainloop() I see the effects of all the parameters of the label but not the font. I've tried to change the size, the weight, give different family names, leave just one parameter; nothing works - the font stays default as it was. Surprisingly it doesn't report any errors, everything looks fine. Maybe it's versions problem? I run these: Linux Centos 5 Tk 8.4.13 Ruby 1.8.5 ruby-tcltk 1.8.5 Also, don't know if it is important, I ran it via Xming from WinXP machine.

• 301 htaccess redirect: add segment to old URL's

  I'm trying to make sure old url's aren't broken after the site's URL structure has changed from this: http://www.domain.com/section/entry_name to this: http://www.domain.com/section/event_name/entry_name But to make it a bit more complex, I'm using the segments to sort entries, for example: http://www.domain.com/news/amazing_event/date/asc http://www.domain.com/videos/my_event/title/desc The new structure only effects one particular event (amazing_event) and should leave the other URL's alone. Where do I even begin to tackle this? • Silverlight Textbox scrollviewer problem

  In silverlight, I got a textbox which I want to be multiline and have mousescrolling available. If I only use textbox then I dont have mousescrolling. If I use a scrollviewer I will have mousescrolling. BUT everytime my writing exceeds the rows that are shown from start the text and caret just dissapears without the scrollviewer doing anything. How do I solve the problem so I get the caretposition effects the scrollviewer? I sofar not managed to find someone with the exact same problem as me.

• Setting the position within a spinner

  Good Afternoon, I have a spinner array containing 3 spinners. Each spinner is populated via a res string array. Each array contains the numbers 1-100. When the activity starts each spinner contains a string array of 1-100 and when you click on a spinner the first choice is 1. Say a user picks 25 on the first spinner. I'd like the 2nd spinner to show 25 as the starting point for scrolling when the spinner is clicked but not fire the spinner. The 2nd spinner would still contain the array 1-100 though so a user could scroll down to a lessor number if the wanted to. I've tried using setSelection but that causes the 2nd spinner to fire causing undesirable effects (an edit box is populated with the 2nd number even though the user hasn't clicked the 2nd spinner). I would like the 2nd spinner to just show 25 as the starting point. How do I do this?

  I have a WinForms based app with traditional MDI implementation within it except that I'm hosting WPF based UserControls via the ElementHost control as the main content for each of my MDI children. This is the solution recommended by Microsoft for achieving MDI with WPF although there are various side effects unfortunately. One of which is that my Ctrl+Tab functionality for tab switching between each MDI child is gone because the tab key seems to be swallowed up by the WPF controls. Is there a simple solution to this that will let the Ctrl+tab key sequences reach my WinForms MDI parent so that I can get the built-in tab switching functionality?

• Basic OpenGL ES2 (iPhone Simulator) question...

  Hi! I'm trying to modify the fragment shader which is part of the standard iPhone/XCode OpenGL ES template. I want to make it so that every other row of pixels is transparent. I have this code so far: varying lowp vec4 colorVarying; void main() { gl_FragColor = vec4(colorVarying.x, colorVarying.y, colorVarying.z, floor(mod(gl_FragCoord.y, 2.0))); } But when I compile and run I still get the same square moving up and down with no other effects. What am I doing wrong here? I'm a complete n00b at Glsl - I'm trying to teach myself the very basics.   What is the SQLite query to detect if the FTS3 extension module is installed? Or is it possible to get a list of installed extensions with an SQLite3 query? It has to work with pysqlite2. I know that I can get the list of tables using SELECT * FROM sqlite_master, I'd like to get something similar for the list of extensions. I also know that CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE v USING FTS3 (t TEXT) succeeds iff FTS3 is installed, but I'd like to get a query without side effects (not even creating a temporary table).

• How can I have HTML tab expansion in ST2 w/ Emmet inside Handlebars templates(emberjs)?

  Okay, so I'm using Sublime Text 2 with Emmet. But "Tab" expansion of HTML snippets doesn't work inside a script because of the scope. Example: In HTML, I can type "h1" and then hit tab, and it will generate "" When using Ember.js, and more specifically Handlebars, it doesn't work. <script type="text/x-handlebars"> h1 </script> Pressing tab after that "h1" doesn't expand it because it's inside a script; Emmet turns this off. I can press Ctrl+E, which is the "expand anywhere" hotkey, and that works just fine. However, that is uncomfortable and prone to missing and hitting things like Ctrl+S or Ctrl+D which have undesired effects. So, how can I change this? I know that the cost of the website may vary depending of the complexity of the html or the backend, but taking as reference a very basic website, what percentage of the cost should go to design and what percentage should go to development. • How to add a URL and Buttons on top of an Existing Header Image

  Hi, 1) I have a header jpeg image that spans a width of 996px that has a square logo to the left of this header. My question is that I would like to use this square logo section only and place a ahref tag so that when the user hover's over this section only, the cursor changes to a hand pointer and the user will be redirected back to the landing page. Any assistance on this would be great. 2) On this same image, I would also like to place two buttons with rollover effects, so when the user hovers over the buttons, the rollover effect takes control and then would like these buttons to also point to a href url. • Developing ASP.NET MVC UI Extensions - best approach

  What are the best practices in developing rich UI extensions for ASP.NET MVC (I mean asynchronous / partial loading, slick effects, skinning etc) ? I saw that Telerik has an MVC suite of extensions, but haven't tried them yet, so I cannot comment on them. My biggest concern as of the moment is how to structure the code of my extensions so that C#, ASP markup, and JQuery remain separate from each other, yet encapsulated in a way that the extension must be easy to distribute and reuse. I know that the user control approach had many flaws, yet it sort of allowed application developers to just reference a control, set some parameters and get it going in a few minutes. I'd like to achieve the same kind of portability/reusability as I still keep the code easy to extend and build upon. Now, some ideas that come to mind as topics for discussion are: template helpers vs. extension method helpers or a possible integration efficient use of jQuery - naming conventions - - asynchronous action loading - etc you can add whatever comes to your mind

• Serverside image processing

  I am designing a web application that does server side image processing in real time. Processing tasks include applying different effects like grayscale, blur, oil paint, pencil sketch etc on images in various formats. I want to build it using java/servlets which I am already familiar with. I found 3 options, 1) Use pure java imaging libraries like java.awt or http://www.jhlabs.com/ip/index.html 2) Use command line tools like Gimp/ImageMagick 3) Use c,c++ image libraries that have java bindings. I don't know which of the above options is good keeping the performance in mind. It looks like option 2) and 3) are good performance wise, but I want to be sure before I rule out 1). I have also heard gimp cannot be run using command line unless gtk or xwindows is already installed on the server. Will there be any such problems with 2) or 3) while running them server side? Also please suggest any good image processing libraries for this purpose.

• The best way to organize WPF projects

  Hello everybody, I've started recently to develop a new software in WPF, and I still don't know which is the best way to organize the application, to be more productive with Visual Studio and Expression Blend. I noticed 2 annoying things I'd like to solve: I'm using Code Contracts in my projects, and when I run my project with Expression Blend, it launches the static analysis of the code. How can I stop that? Which configuration of the project does Blend use by default? I've tried to disable Code Contracts in a new configuration. It works in VS as the static analysis is not launched, but it has no effects in Blend. I've thinked about splitting the Windows Application in 2 parts: the first one containing the views of the WPF (app.exe) and the second one being the core of the project, with the logic code (app.core.dll), and I would just open the former project in Blend. Any thoughts about that? Thanks in advance Mike

• Realtime progress of AJAX call (asp.net)

  Hi... I'm trying to make a progress bar that updates the user on the progress of the AJAX call. My immediate thinking was that I need an AJAX call to start a thread on the server, allowing the starting AJAX call to finish, and allowing the thread to send updates back to the user. For the purpose of simplicity, disregard the actual progress bar functionality (I was thinking of implementing one of those JS bars, with fancy colors and effects ;), but if I can get an update from the thread, then updating a simple JS progress bar becomes trivial ;) ) I just need a few pointers on how to accomplish this, if anyone could oblige me? ;)

  Here is how I'm currently converting XMLDocument to String StringWriter stringWriter = new StringWriter(); XmlTextWriter xmlTextWriter = new XmlTextWriter(stringWriter); xmlDoc.WriteTo(xmlTextWriter); return stringWriter.ToString(); The problem with this method is that if I have " ((quotes) which I have in attributes) it escapes them. For Instance: <Campaign name="ABC"> </Campaign> Above is the expected XML. But it returns <Campaign name=\"ABC\"> </Campaign> I can do String.Replace "\" but is that method okay? Are there any side-effects? Will it work fine if the XML itself contains a "\"
