  • Proper thread termination in multi-threaded C# application

    I have what I think is a rather complex problem. I have a C# application that utilizes a plug-in architecture using reflection. The application loads plug-in dlls and the user is able to enable/disable them. When a plug-in is enabled, the main app starts a thread to run the plug-in in. In many cases the plug-in may have multiple threads of its own. When I want to disable a plug-in I am calling Thread.Abort(). This seems to kill the initial thread that was created for the plug-in, but any additional threads that the plug-in created continue running. Is there a better way to stop all of the associated plug-in's threads along with the main thread? Thanks.

What's 'the right way' or at least a good way to organise this with Doxygen? One overall doxy project or one per project/solution? And what's the right way to handle COM, which has generated code and a lot of 'fluff' that will bloat generated HTML files.

Opposite, if I declare function_name(int** a) and send int[][] as a parameter (after casting) I cannot access to array elements inside function. What is the correctest way?

  • Emulate back button in multi-view TabActivity

    Hi, all I have a TabActivity with several tabs. Each tab corresponds to a specific view, and those views may further switch to other views. For example, one of my tabs displays RSS feed list, after user clicks one of the RSS feed, it will switch to a view displaying a list of articles, and after user clicks one of the titles, a full article view will be displayed. I'm going to add support for "back" button in my application. For instance, in a full article view, after user presses the "back" button, it should switch back to the article list view. And if user presses it the "back" button again, my application should switch back to the feed list view. My idea is to maintain a Stack<View> during navigation, and every time user presses the "back" button, the program will pop a View out of the stack, and set it as the current view. But I would like to know how to set current view in TabHost. Many thanks.

    Hello, I have more than one Excel Workbooks containing multiple worksheets in each of them. I would like to have a macro which help me to create (combine the information from) all the worksheets into one pipe [|] delimited [.csv] file. These sheets should be combined/appended into the [.csv] file, in the same order these worksbooks appear in a folder and in the order sheets appear in these workbooks. The macro should ask for a delimiter/separator specific to me and the input and output path based on my selection.   • Is file_get_contents multi line?

    Hello all, Does file_get_contents maintain line breaks? I thought it did but I have tried this: if($conn){ $tsql = file_get_contents('scripts/CreateTables/SLR05_MATCH_CREATETABLES.sql'); $row = sqlsrv_query($conn, $tsql); print_r(sqlsrv_errors()); } The errors I get is that SQL Server complains that there is incorrect syntax. I get the same errors when I run the SQL Script without any line breaks, which suggests file_get_contents removes them? When I run the script normally (open the file in SQL Server Management Studio) and execute it, it works perfectly. So is there something that I can use that maintains line breaks etc? Or is there another problem here in using queries from a file with the SQL Server PHP Driver from Microsoft? Thanks all for any help

    Hi Guys, I am building a social networking site that is dedicated to nightclubs and night events. Among other tables, I have a users table, events table and establishments table. I am really intrigued with how Facebook in particular is able to query and return matches of not just users but also pages, ads etc row after row. Im sure most who are reading this have tried the facebook search My question is in my case, should I: Perform 3 separate LIKE %search% on each of the tables on search.php.     I am validating input on a form and attempting to prompt the user of improper input(s) based on the combination of controls used. For example, I have 2 combo boxes and 3 text boxes. The 2 combo boxes must always have a value other than the first (default) value, but one of three, or two of three, or all text boxes can be filled to make the form valid. In one such scenario I have a 6 line if statement to try to make the test easily readable: if ((!String.Equals(ComboBoxA.SelectedValue.ToString(), DEFAULT_COMBO_A_CHOICE.ToString()) && !String.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBoxA.Text) && !String.Equals(ComboBoxB.SelectedValue.ToString(), DEFAULT_COMBO_B_CHOICE.ToString())) || (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBoxB.Text) || !String.IsNullOrEmpty(TextBoxC.Text))) { //Do Some Validation } I have 2 questions: Should this type of if statement be avoided at all cost? Would it be better to enclose this test in another method? (This would be a good choice as this validation will happen in more than one scenario) Thanks for your input(s)!

  • Is it possible to create multi-tiered WHERE statements in mySQL

    I'm currently developing a program that will generate reports based upon lead data. My issue is that I'm running 3 queries for something that I would like to only have to run one query for. For instance, I want to gather data for leads generated in the past day submission_date > (NOW() - INTERVAL 1 DAY) and I would like to find out how many total leads there were, and how many sold leads there were in that timeframe. (sold=1 / sold=0). The issue comes with the fact that this query is currently being done with 2 queries, one with WHEREsold= 1 and one with WHEREsold= 0. This is all well and good, but when I want to generate this data for the past day,week,month,year,and all time I will have to run 10 queries to obtain this data. I feel like there HAS to be a more efficient way of doing this. I know I can create a mySQL function for this, but I don't see how this could solve the problem. Thanks!!

  • accessing specific icons from a Multi-Icon (.ico) file

    Dear community. I would like to know if the following is possible. I have an .ico file, containing several sizes and color depths. However, it also contains some custom made sizes, that are going to be used inside my application. The application accesses the icon trough a resource DLL. (The intention is that the DLL is provided by a third party developer) Is there any way to pinpoint exactly which of the icons in the .ico file to use in my application? Like I want this size to appear here on my GUI etc. For instance, I am making a button in my application, and I would like my custom made 15*32 icon from my .ico file to be displayed on the button. I know this is possible by adding the bitmaps one at a time to the resource DLL, giving each of them a unique name. But it would be easier, if I am able to identify the different contents of the icon file instead. Is it possible in some way to look at the icon file as an array of icons or something like that? Any help is much appreciated. It seems quite hard to find information about this subject on the web. Oh, and I am writing my application in C#, using MFC DLL (from Visual C++ to create my resource DLL)

    I'm switching from Notepad++ to VIM as main text editor. Notepad++ can have multiple cursors by holding down ctrl and clicking anywhere in the text, so if you type, the text appears in multiple locations. Is it possible in vim? Something like insert after selecting multiple rows in visual mode, but with the possibility to have cursors anywhere in the text. It's a feature I rarely use, also it's quite easily avoidable, I'm just curious, since its the only one I could't find a replacement for in vim yet.

    I think the best way to explain this is to tell you what I have. I have two tables A and B both have columns Field1 and Field2. However Field 2 is not populated in table B I want to populate field 2 of table B with field 2 of table A where field 1 of table A matches field 1 of table B. something like update tableB set Field2 = tableA.field2 where tablea.field1 = tableb.field1. The reason this may seem so odd and obscure is that I'm tyring to do an inital data load form an old database to a new one. please let me know if you need clarification

    I'm really confused with an array im making, its gotten a bit confusing to follow but i believe its the only way for me to approach what im trying to do. My idea here is to store getImageData in an array so i can link each image to an array of data. This is how i create my array: var listObj = { id: uid, extra: [ ctx2.getImageData(abposx,abposy,imgwidth,imgheight) ] }; pixeld.push(listObj); So now im trying to run through the array "pixeld" to find the uid but i don't know how the syntax should be.... this is what i tried: for (j = (pixeld.length-1); j > -1; --j){ if(pixeld[j].extra.data[3] !==0){ //line 220 matches.push(pixeld[j].id); } } The problem is i get this error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '3' of undefined on line 220 I have marked which line is 220 in the for loop. Any one know what my mistake is ?

    So I have this issue I've been trying various ways to tackle all day and nothing's catching and working for it. Basically I have a XAML object called ChromeWindow (derived from Window) which has in it's code-behind a DependencyProperty called AppChrome which stores a reference to an associated ApplicationChrome XAML object (derived from UserControl). ApplicationChrome's XAML file has a few x:Name'd objects (a TextBlock and Border for instance) to which I want to bind to from the ChromeWindow's XAML. The root of the ChromeWindow is x:Name'd as 'rootWindow' in the XAML, so I figured one of these bindings would work: {Binding ElementName=rootWindow, Path=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock.Text, Mode=OneWay} But that complains of a BindingExpression path error such that the property 'CaptionTextBlock' (an x:Name'd TextBlock in AppChrome's XAML) cannot be found on object of type ApplicationChrome So I tried this binding intead: {Binding Source=AppChrome.CaptionTextBlock, Path=Text, Mode=OneWay} And still no luck, this time complaints of a BindingExpression path error again, but this time that it cannot find the 'CaptionTextBlock' property on object of type String I know I'm missing something really simple here, please help! ;D
