  • How do you read from a file into an array of struct?

    - by Thomas.Winsnes
    I'm currently working on an assignment and this have had me stuck for hours. Can someone please help me point out why this isn't working for me? struct book { char title[25]; char author[50]; char subject[20]; int callNumber; char publisher[250]; char publishDate[11]; char location[20]; char status[11]; char type[12]; int circulationPeriod; int costOfBook; }; void PrintBookList(struct book **bookList) { int i; for(i = 0; i < sizeof(bookList); i++) { struct book newBook = *bookList[i]; printf("%s;%s;%s;%d;%s;%s;%s;%s;%s;%d;%d\n",newBook.title, newBook.author, newBook.subject, newBook.callNumber,newBook.publisher, newBook.publishDate, newBook.location, newBook.status, newBook.type,newBook.circulationPeriod, newBook.costOfBook); } } void GetBookList(struct book** bookList) { FILE* file = fopen("book.txt", "r"); struct book newBook[1024]; int i = 0; while(fscanf(file, "%s;%s;%s;%d;%s;%s;%s;%s;%s;%d;%d", &newBook[i].title, &newBook[i].author, &newBook[i].subject, &newBook[i].callNumber,&newBook[i].publisher, &newBook[i].publishDate, &newBook[i].location, &newBook[i].status, &newBook[i].type,&newBook[i].circulationPeriod, &newBook[i].costOfBook) != EOF) { bookList[i] = &newBook[i]; i++; } /*while(fscanf(file, "%s;%s;%s;%d;%s;%s;%s;%s;%s;%d;%d", &bookList[i].title, &bookList[i].author, &bookList[i].subject, &bookList[i].callNumber, &bookList[i].publisher, &bookList[i].publishDate, &bookList[i].location, &bookList[i].status, &bookList[i].type, &bookList[i].circulationPeriod, &bookList[i].costOfBook) != EOF) { i++; }*/ PrintBookList(bookList); fclose(file); } int main() { struct book *bookList[1024]; GetBookList(bookList); } I get no errors or warnings on compile it should print the content of the file, just like it is in the file.   • Calculating negative fractions in Objective C

    - by Mark Reid
    I've been coding my way through Steve Kochan's Programming in Objective-C 2.0 book. I'm up to an exercise in chapter 7, ex 4, in case anyone has the book. The question posed by the exercise it will the Fraction class written work with negative fractions such as -1/2 + -2/3? Here's the implementation code in question - @implementation Fraction @synthesize numerator, denominator; -(void) print { NSLog(@"%i/%i", numerator, denominator); } -(void) setTo: (int) n over: (int) d { numerator = n; denominator = d; } -(double) convertToNum { if (denominator != 0) return (double) numerator / denominator; else return 1.0; } -(Fraction *) add: (Fraction *) f { // To add two fractions: // a/b + c/d = ((a * d) + (b * c)) / (b * d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = (numerator * f.denominator) + (denominator * f.numerator); resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) subtract: (Fraction *) f { // To subtract two fractions: // a/b - c/d = ((a * d) - (b * c)) / (b * d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.denominator - denominator * f.numerator; resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) multiply: (Fraction *) f { // To multiply two fractions // a/b * c/d = (a*c) / (b*d) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.numerator; resultDenom = denominator * f.denominator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(Fraction *) divide: (Fraction *) f { // To divide two fractions // a/b / c/d = (a*d) / (b*c) // result will store the result of the addition Fraction *result = [[Fraction alloc] init]; int resultNum, resultDenom; resultNum = numerator * f.denominator; resultDenom = denominator * f.numerator; [result setTo: resultNum over: resultDenom]; [result reduce]; return result; } -(void) reduce { int u = numerator; int v = denominator; int temp; while (v != 0) { temp = u % v; u = v; v = temp; } numerator /= u; denominator /= u; } @end My question to you is will it work with negative fractions and can you explain how you know? Part of the issue is I don't know how to calculate negative fractions myself so I'm not too sure how to know. Many thanks.

  • Qt, MSVC, and /Zc:wchar_t- == I want to blow up the world

    - by Noah Roberts
    So Qt is compiled with /Zc:wchar_t- on windows. What this means is that instead of wchar_t being a typedef for some internal type (__wchar_t I think) it becomes a typedef for unsigned short. The really cool thing about this is that the default for MSVC is the opposite, which of course means that the libraries you're using are likely compiled with wchar_t being a different type than Qt's wchar_t. This doesn't become an issue of course until you try to use something like std::wstring in your code; especially when one or more libraries have functions that accept it as parameters. What effectively happens is that your code happily compiles but then fails to link because it's looking for definitions using std::wstring<unsigned short...> but they only contain definitions expecting std::wstring<__wchar_t...> (or whatever). So I did some web searching and ran into this link: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-6345 Based on the statement by Thiago Macieira, "Sorry, we will not support building Qt like this," I've been worried that fixing Qt to work like everything else might cause some problem and have been trying to avoid it. We recompiled all of our support libraries with the /Zc:wchar_t- flag and have been fairly content with that until a couple days ago when we started trying to port over (we're in the process of switching from Wx to Qt) some serialization code. Because of how win32 works, and because Wx just wraps win32, we've been using std::wstring to represent string data with the intent of making our product as i18n ready as possible. We did some testing and Wx did not work with multibyte characters when trying to print special stuff (even not so special stuff like the degree symbol was an issue). I'm not so sure that Qt has this problem since QString isn't just a wrapper to the underlying _TCHAR type but is a Unicode monster of some sort. At any rate, the serialization library in boost has compiled parts. We've attempted to recompile boost with /Zc:wchar_t- but so far our attempts to tell bjam to do this have gone unheeded. We're at an impasse. From where I'm sitting I have three options: Recompile Qt and hope it works with /Zc:wchar_t. There's some evidence around the web that others have done this but I have no way of predicting what will happen. All attempts to ask Qt people on forums and such have gone unanswered. Hell, even in that very bug report someone asks why and it just sat there for a year. Keep fighting with bjam until it listens. Right now I've got someone under me doing that and I have more experience fighting with things to get what I want but I do have to admit to getting rather tired of it. I'm also concerned that I'll KEEP running into this issue just because Qt wants to be a c**t. Stop using wchar_t for anything. Unfortunately my i18n experience is pretty much 0 but it seems to me that I just need to find the right to/from function in QString (it has a BUNCH) to encode the Unicode into 8-bytes and visa-versa. UTF8 functions look promising but I really want to be sure that no data will be lost if someone from Zimbabfuckegypt starts writing in their own language and the documentation in QString frightens me a little into thinking that could happen. Of course, I could always run into some library that insists I use wchar_t and then I'm back to 1 or 2 but I rather doubt that would happen. So, what's my question... Which of these options is my best bet? Is Qt going to eventually cause me to gouge out my own eyes because I decided to compile it with /Zc:wchar_t anyway? What's the magic incantation to get boost to build with /Zc:wchar_t- and will THAT cause permanent mental damage? Can I get away with just using the standard 8-bit (well, 'common' anyway) character classes and be i18n compliant/ready? How do other Qt developers deal with this mess?

  • Pure JSP without mixing HTML, by writing html as Java-like code

    - by ADTC
    Please read before answering. This is a fantasy programming technique I'm dreaming up. I want to know if there's anything close in real life. The following JSP page: <% html { head { title {"Pure fantasy";} } body { h1 {"A heading with double quote (\") character";} p {"a paragraph";} String s = "a paragraph in string. the date is "; p { s; new Date().toString(); } table (Border.ZERO, new Padding(27)) { tr { for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { td {i;} } } } } } %> could generate the following HTML page: <html> <head> <title>Pure fantasy</title> </head> <body> <h1>A heading with double quote (") character</h1> <p>a paragraph</p> <p>a paragraph in string. the date is 11 December 2012</p> <table border="0" padding="27"> <tr> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td>6</td> <td>7</td> <td>8</td> <td>9</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> The thing about this fantasy is it reuses the same old Java programming language technique that enable customized keywords used in a way similar to if-else-then, while, try-catch etc to represent html tags in a non-html way that can easily be checked for syntactic correctness, and most importantly can easily be mixed up with regular Java code without being lost in a sea of <%, %>, <%=, out.write(), etc. An added feature is that strings can directly be placed as commands to print out into generated HTML, something Java doesn't support (where pure strings have to be assigned to variables before use). Is there anything in real life that comes close? If not, is it possible to define customized keywords in Java or JSP? Or do I have to create an entirely new programming language for that? What problems do you see with this kind of setup? PS: I know you can use HTML libraries to construct HTML using Java code, but the problem with such libraries is, the source code itself doesn't have a readable HTML representation like the code above does - if you get what I mean.

  • Character-encoding problem spring

    - by aelshereay
    Hi All, I am stuck in a big problem with encoding in my website! I use spring 3, tomcat 6, and mysql db. I want to support German and Czech along with English in my website, I created all the JSPs as UTF-8 files, and in each jsp I include the following: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> I created messages.properties (the default which is Czech), messages_de.properties, and messages_en.properties. And all of them are saved as UTF-8 files. I added the following to web.xml: <filter> <filter-name>encodingFilter</filter-name> <filterclass> org.springframework.web.filter.CharacterEncodingFilter</filterclass> <init-param> <param-name>encoding</param-name> <param-value>UTF-8</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>forceEncoding</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </init-param> </filter> <locale-encoding-mapping-list> <locale-encoding-mapping> <locale>en</locale> <encoding>UTF-8</encoding> </locale-encoding-mapping> <locale-encoding-mapping> <locale>cz</locale> <encoding>UTF-8</encoding> </locale-encoding-mapping> <locale-encoding-mapping> <locale>de</locale> <encoding>UTF-8</encoding> </locale-encoding-mapping> </locale-encoding-mapping-list> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>encodingFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> And add the following to my applicationContext.xml: <bean id="messageSource" class="org.springframework.context.support.ResourceBundleMessageSource" p:basenames="messages"/> <!-- Declare the Interceptor --> <mvc:interceptors> <bean class="org.springframework.web.servlet.i18n.LocaleChangeInterceptor" p:paramName="locale" /> </mvc:interceptors> <!-- Declare the Resolver --> <bean id="localeResolver" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.i18n.SessionLocaleResolver" /> I set the useBodyEncodingForURI attribute to true in the element of server.xml under: %CATALINA_HOME%/conf, also another time tried to add URIEncoding="UTF-8" instead. I created all the tables and fields with charset [utf8] and collection [utf8_general_ci] The encoding in my browser is UTF-8 (BTW, I have IE8 and Firefox 3.6.3) When I open the MYSQL Query browser and insert manually Czech or German data, it's being inserted correctly, and displayed correctly in my app as well. So, here's the list of problems I have: By default the messages.properties (Czech) should load, instead the messages_en.properties loads by default. In the web form, when I enter Czech data, then click submit, in the Controller I print out the data in the console before to save it to db, what's being printed is not correct having strange chars, and this is the exact data that saves to db. I don't know where's the mistake! Why can't I get it working although I did what people did and worked for them! don't know.. Please help me, I am stuck in this crappy problem since days, and it drives me crazy! Thank you in advance.

  • PHP: How do I loop through every XML file in a directory?

    - by celebritarian
    Hi! I'm building a simple application. It's a user interface to an online order system. Basically, the system is going to work like this: Other companies upload their purchase orders to our FTP server. These orders are simple XML files (containing things like customer data, address information, ordered products and the quantities…) I've built a simple user interface in HTML5, jQuery and CSS — all powered by PHP. PHP reads the content of an order (using the built-in features of SimpleXML) and displays it on the web page. So, it's a web app, supposed to always be running in a browser at the office. The PHP app will display the content of all orders. Every fifteen minutes or so, the app will check for new orders. How do I loop through all XML files in a directory? Right now, my app is able to read the content of a single XML file, and display it in a nice way on the page. My current code looks like this: // pick a random order that I know exists in the Order directory: $xml_file = file_get_contents("Order/6366246.xml",FILE_TEXT); $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xml_file); // start echo basic order information, like order number: echo $xml->OrderHead->ShopPO; // more information about the order and the customer goes here… echo "<ul>"; // loop through each order line, and echo all quantities and products: foreach ($xml->OrderLines->OrderLine as $orderline) { echo "<tr>\n". "<li>".$orderline->Quantity." st.</li>\n". "<li>".$orderline->SKU."</li>\n"; } echo "</ul>"; // more information about delivery options, address information etc. goes here… So, that's my code. Pretty simple. It only needs to do one thing — print out the content of all order files on the screen — so me and my colleagues can see the order, confirm it and deliver it. That's it. But right now — as you can see — I'm selecting one single order at a time, located in the Order directory. But how do I loop through the entire Order directory, and read aand display the content of each order (like above)? I'm stuck. I don't really know how you get all (xml) files in a directory and then do something with the files (like reading them and echo out the data, like I want to). -- I'd really appreciate some help. I'm not very experienced with PHP/server-side programming, so if you could help me out here I'd be very grateful. Thanks a lot in advance! // Björn (celebritarian at me dot com)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all, I have the following code: import java.io.; import java.sql.; import java.math.; import java.lang.; public class Testd1{ public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Sum of the specific column!"); Connection con = null; int m=1; double sum,sum1,sum2; int e[]; e=new int[100]; int p; int decimalPlaces = 5; for( int i=0;i< e.length;i++) { e[i]=0; } double b2,c2,d2,u2,v2; int i,j,k,x,y; double mat[][]=new double[10][10]; try { Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); con = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/prathi","root","mysql"); try{ Statement st = con.createStatement(); ResultSet res = st.executeQuery("SELECT Service_ID,SUM(consumer_feedback) FROM consumer1 group by Service_ID"); while (res.next()){ int data=res.getInt(1); System.out.println(data); System.out.println("\n\n"); int c1 = res.getInt(2); e[m]=res.getInt(2); if(e[m]<0) e[m]=0; m++; System.out.print(c1); System.out.println("\t\t"); } sum=e[1]+e[2]+e[3]+e[4]+e[5]; System.out.println("\n \n The sum is" +sum); for( p=21; p<=25; p++) { if(e[p] != 0) e[p]=e[p]/(int)sum; //I have type casted sum to get output BigDecimal bd1 = new BigDecimal(e[p]); bd1 = bd1.setScale(decimalPlaces, BigDecimal.ROUND_HALF_UP); // setScale is immutable e[p] = bd1.intValue(); System.out.println("\n\n The normalized value is" +e[p]); mat[4][p-21]=e[p]; } } catch (SQLException s){ System.out.println("SQL statement is not executed!"); } } catch (Exception e1){ e1.printStackTrace(); } } } I have a table named consumer1.After calculating the sum i am getting the values as follows mysql select Service_ID,sum(consumer_feedback) from consumer1 group by Service_ ID; Service_ID sum(consumer_feedback) 31 17 32 0 33 60 34 38 35 | 38 In my program I am getting the sum for each Service_ID correctly.But,after normalization ie while I am calculating 17/153=0.111 I am getting the normalized value is 0.I want the normalized values to be displayed correctly after rounding off.My output is as follows C:javac Testd1.java C:java Testd1 Sum of the specific column! 31 17 32 0 33 60 34 38 35 38 The sum is153.0 The normalized value is0 The normalized value is0 The normalized value is0 The normalized value is0 The normalized value is0 But,after normalization i want to get 17/153=0.111 I am getting the normalized value is 0.I want these values to be rounded off.

  • Problem with reading file line-by-line

    - by Maulrus
    I'm trying to complete an exercise to write a program that takes the following command line arguments: an input file, an output file, and an unspecified number of words. The program is to read the contents of the input file line by line, find for each word given which lines contain the word, and print the lines with their line number to the output file. Here's my code: #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> #include <sstream> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { if (argc < 4) { cerr << "Error #1: not enough arguments provided\n"; return 1; } ifstream in(argv[1]); if (!in.is_open()) { cerr << "Error #2: input file could not be opened\n"; return 2; } ofstream out(argv[2]); if (!out.is_open()) { cerr << "Error #3: output file could not be opened\n"; return 3; } ostringstream oss; for (int i = 3; i < argc; ++i) { int k = 0; string temp; oss << argv[i] << ":\n\n"; while (getline(in, temp)) { ++k; unsigned x = temp.find(argv[i]); if (x != string::npos) oss << "Line #" << k << ": " << temp << endl; } } string copy = oss.str(); out << copy; in.close(); out.close(); return 0; } If I try to run that, I get the predicted output for the first word given, but any words following it aren't found. For example, for the source code above will give the following output: in: Line #1: #include <iostream> Line #2: #include <fstream> Line #3: #include <string> Line #4: #include <sstream> Line #5: using namespace std; Line #7: int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { Line #12: ifstream in(argv[1]); Line #13: if (!in.is_open()) { Line #14: cerr << "Error #2: input file could not be opened\n"; Line #22: ostringstream oss; Line #23: string temp; Line #24: for (int i = 3; i < argc; ++i) { Line #26: int k = 0; Line #28: while (getline(in, temp)) { Line #30: unsigned x = temp.find(argv[i]); Line #31: if (x != string::npos) Line #32: oss << "Line #" << k << ": " << temp << endl; Line #35: string copy = oss.str(); Line #37: in.close(); out: That is, it'll find all the instances of the first word given but not any following. What am I doing wrong here?

  • c - dereferencing issue

    - by Joe
    Hi, I have simplified an issue that I've been having trying to isolate the problem, but it is not helping. I have a 2 dimensional char array to represent memory. I want to pass a reference to that simulation of memory to a function. In the function to test the contents of the memory I just want to iterate through the memory and print out the contents on each row. The program prints out the first row and then I get seg fault. My program is as follows: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <ctype.h> #include <string.h> void test_memory(char*** memory_ref) { int i; for(i = 0; i < 3; i++) { printf("%s\n", *memory_ref[i]); } } int main() { char** memory; int i; memory = calloc(sizeof(char*), 20); for(i = 0; i < 20; i++) { memory[i] = calloc(sizeof(char), 33); } memory[0] = "Mem 0"; memory[1] = "Mem 1"; memory[2] = "Mem 2"; printf("memory[1] = %s\n", memory[1]); test_memory(&memory); return 0; } This gives me the output: memory[1] = Mem 1 Mem 0 Segmentation fault If I change the program and create a local version of the memory in the function by dereferencing the memory_ref, then I get the right output: So: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <ctype.h> #include <string.h> void test_memory(char*** memory_ref) { char** memory = *memory_ref; int i; for(i = 0; i < 3; i++) { printf("%s\n", memory[i]); } } int main() { char** memory; int i; memory = calloc(sizeof(char*), 20); for(i = 0; i < 20; i++) { memory[i] = calloc(sizeof(char), 33); } memory[0] = "Mem 0"; memory[1] = "Mem 1"; memory[2] = "Mem 2"; printf("memory[1] = %s\n", memory[1]); test_memory(&memory); return 0; } gives me the following output: memory[1] = Mem 1 Mem 0 Mem 1 Mem 2 which is what I want, but making a local version of the memory is useless because I need to be able to change the values of the original memory from the function which I can only do by dereferencing the pointer to the original 2d char array. I don't understand why I should get a seg fault on the second time round, and I'd be grateful for any advice. Many thanks Joe

  • Recursive XSD Help

    - by Alon
    Hi, i'm trying to learn a little bit XSD and I'm trying to create a XSD for this xml: <Document> <TextBox Name="Username" /> <TextBox Name="Password" /> </Document> ... so there's an element, which is an abstract complex type. Every element have elements and so on. Document and TextBox are extending Element. I trid this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xs:element name="Document"> <xs:complexType> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Element"> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:complexType name="Element" abstract="true"> <xs:sequence minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:element name="Element" type="Element"></xs:element> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="TextBox"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Element"> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string" /> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:schema> I compiled it to C# with Xsd2Code, and now I try to deserialize it: var serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Document)); var document = (Document)serializer.Deserialize(new FileStream("Document1.xml", FileMode.Open)); foreach (var element in document.Element1) { Console.WriteLine(((TextBox)element).Name); } Console.ReadLine(); and it dosen't print anything. When I try to serialize it like so: var serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Document)); var document = new Document(); document.Element1 = new List<Element>(); document.Element1.Add(new TextBox() { Name = "abc" }); serializer.Serialize(new FileStream("d.xml", FileMode.Create), document); ...the output is: <?xml version="1.0"?> <Document xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Element1> <Element xsi:type="TextBox"> <Element1 /> <Name>abc</Name> </Element> </Element1> </Document> When it should be: <Document> <TextBox Name="abc" /> </Document> Any ideas how to fix the xsd or another code generator? Thanks.

  • AJAX Password Change without Refresh

    - by Richard
    I'm trying to implement password change functionality into my website. I've got all the password changing script, validation, etc done. But now I need to prevent the page from going to the script page or refreshing. When the user clicks the submit button, I want nothing to change except a message displaying successfully changed or error. So here's my html: <form id="change_Pass" action="" method="post"> Current Password<input type="password" id="change_password" name="change_password"><br> New Password<input type="password" id="new_password" name="new_password"><br> Verify Password<input type="password" id="verify_password" name="verify_password"><br> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="change_pass_submit"> </form> And my jquery: $('#change_pass_submit').click(function(){ var $this = $(this); $.ajax({ data: $this.serialize(), // get the form data type: "POST", // GET or POST url: "/Private/change_password.php", // the file to call success: function() { // on success.. //$('#success_div).html(response); // update the DIV alert("good"); }, error: function() { // on error.. //$('#error_div).html(e); // update the DIV alert("bad"); } }); return false; //so it doesn't refresh when submitting the page }); And my php: <?php session_start(); require_once '../classes/Bcrypt.php'; ini_set('display_errors', 'On'); error_reporting(E_ALL | E_STRICT); $usr = $_SESSION["username"]; $old_pwd = $_POST["change_password"]; $new_pwd = $_POST["new_password"]; $new_pwd = Bcrypt::hash($new_pwd); try { $link = new PDO('mysql:host=*;dbname=*;charset=UTF-8','*','*'); $query = "SELECT * FROM Conference WHERE Username = :un"; $stmt = $link->prepare($query); $stmt->bindParam(':un', $usr); $stmt->execute(); $row = $stmt->fetchAll(); $hash = $row[0]["Password"]; $is_correct = Bcrypt::check($old_pwd, $hash); if($is_correct) { $query = "UPDATE Conference SET `Password`=:new_pwd WHERE Username = :usr"; $stmt = $link->prepare($query); $stmt->bindParam(':new_pwd', $new_pwd); $stmt->bindParam(':usr', $usr); $stmt->execute(); return true; } else return false; } catch(PDOException $e) { print "Error!: " . $e->getMessage() . "<br/>"; die(); } But for some reason, when I hit the submit button, the page STILL goes to change_password.php. I have no idea why, i've looked at so many tutorials and my code matches theirs but for some reason mine won't stay on the same page. Where did I go wrong?

  • Problem with Google Calendar API invocation at server side

    - by Raffo
    Hi guys, I have problems with the invocation of the Google Calendar API. I downloaded the library for java and I added as external JAR in eclipse the following files: gdata-core, gdata-calendar, gdata- calendar-meta, gdata-client-meta, gdata-client. Then, I created a the method as it follows: import com.google.gdata.client.calendar.CalendarService; import com.google.gdata.data.calendar.CalendarEntry; import com.google.gdata.data.calendar.CalendarFeed; import com.google.gwt.user.server.rpc.RemoteServiceServlet; public class GCalServImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements GCalServ { @Override public String RetrieveCalendars() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub // Create a CalenderService and authenticate try{ CalendarService myService = new CalendarService("taskR"); myService.setUserCredentials(***username***, "***password***"); // Send the request and print the response URL feedUrl = new URL("http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/default/ allcalendars/full"); CalendarFeed resultFeed = myService.getFeed(feedUrl, CalendarFeed.class); System.out.println("Your calendars:"); System.out.println(); String s = ""; for (int i = 0; i < resultFeed.getEntries().size(); i++) { CalendarEntry entry = resultFeed.getEntries().get(i); s=entry.getTitle().getPlainText(); System.out.println("\t" + s); return s; } }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } return null; } I then call it from the client side doing a basic async invocation. If I try to launch the program I got the following errors: WARNING: Error for /taskr/cal java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/google/gdata/client/calendar/ CalendarService at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Class.java:2389) at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2699) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Class.java:326) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Class.java:308) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.Holder.newInstance(Holder.java:153) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHolder.initServlet(ServletHolder.java: 428) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHolder.getServlet(ServletHolder.java: 339) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHolder.handle(ServletHolder.java: 487) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler $CachedChain.doFilter(ServletHandler.java:1166) at com.google.appengine.api.blobstore.dev.ServeBlobFilter.doFilter(ServeBlobFilter.java: 51) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler $CachedChain.doFilter(ServletHandler.java:1157) at com.google.apphosting.utils.servlet.TransactionCleanupFilter.doFilter(TransactionCleanupFilter.java: 43) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler $CachedChain.doFilter(ServletHandler.java:1157) at com.google.appengine.tools.development.StaticFileFilter.doFilter(StaticFileFilter.java: 122) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler $CachedChain.doFilter(ServletHandler.java:1157) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler.handle(ServletHandler.java: 388) at org.mortbay.jetty.security.SecurityHandler.handle(SecurityHandler.java: 216) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.SessionHandler.handle(SessionHandler.java: 182) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.ContextHandler.handle(ContextHandler.java: 765) at org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext.handle(WebAppContext.java: 418) at com.google.apphosting.utils.jetty.DevAppEngineWebAppContext.handle(DevAppEngineWebAppContext.java: 70) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.handle(HandlerWrapper.java: 152) at com.google.appengine.tools.development.JettyContainerService $ApiProxyHandler.handle(JettyContainerService.java:349) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.handle(HandlerWrapper.java: 152) at org.mortbay.jetty.Server.handle(Server.java:326) at org.mortbay.jetty.HttpConnection.handleRequest(HttpConnection.java: 542) at org.mortbay.jetty.HttpConnection $RequestHandler.content(HttpConnection.java:938) at org.mortbay.jetty.HttpParser.parseNext(HttpParser.java:755) at org.mortbay.jetty.HttpParser.parseAvailable(HttpParser.java:218) at org.mortbay.jetty.HttpConnection.handle(HttpConnection.java:404) at org.mortbay.io.nio.SelectChannelEndPoint.run(SelectChannelEndPoint.java: 409) at org.mortbay.thread.QueuedThreadPool $PoolThread.run(QueuedThreadPool.java:582) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.google.gdata.client.calendar.CalendarService at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:315) at com.google.appengine.tools.development.IsolatedAppClassLoader.loadClass(IsolatedAppClassLoader.java: 151) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:250) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:398) ... 33 more What can I do??

  • Model Object called in NSOutlineView DataSource Method Crashing App

    - by Alec Sloman
    I have a bewildering problem, hoping someone can assist: I have a model object, called Road. Here's the interface. @@@ @interface RoadModel : NSObject { NSString *_id; NSString *roadmapID; NSString *routeID; NSString *title; NSString *description; NSNumber *collapsed; NSNumber *isRoute; NSString *staff; NSNumber *start; NSArray *staffList; NSMutableArray *updates; NSMutableArray *uploads; NSMutableArray *subRoads; } @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *_id; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *roadmapID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *routeID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *title; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *description; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *collapsed; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *isRoute; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *staff; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *start; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSArray *staffList; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *updates; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *uploads; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *subRoads; - (id)initWithJSONObject:(NSDictionary *)JSONObject; @end This part is fine. To give you some background, I'm translating a bunch of JSON into a proper model object so it's easier to work with. Now, I'm trying to display this in an NSOutlineView. This is where the problem is. In particular, I have created the table and a datasource. - (id)initWithRoads:(NSArray *)roads { if (self = [super init]) root = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:roads]; return self; } - (NSInteger)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView numberOfChildrenOfItem:(id)item { if (item == nil) return root.count; return 0; } - (BOOL)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView isItemExpandable:(id)item { return NO; } - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView child:(NSInteger)index ofItem:(id)item { if (item == nil) item = root; if (item == root) return [root objectAtIndex:index]; return nil; } - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn byItem:(id)item { return [item title]; } In the final datasource method, it attempts to return the "title" string property of the model object, but for some reason crashes each time. I have checked that the method is taking in the correct object (I checked [item class] description], and it is the right object), but for some reason if I call any of the objects accessors the app immediately crashes. This is totally puzzling because in the init method, I can iterate through root (an array of RoadModel objects), and print any of its properties without issue. It is only when I'm trying to access the properties in any of the datasource methods that this occurs. I wonder if there is something memory-wise that is going on behind the scenes and I am not providing for it. If you can shed some light on to this situation, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Code golf: Word frequency chart

    - by ChristopheD
    The challenge: Build an ASCII chart of the most commonly used words in a given text. The rules: Only accept a-z and A-Z (alphabetic characters) as part of a word. Ignore casing (She == she for our purpose). Ignore the following words (quite arbitary, I know): the, and, of, to, a, i, it, in, or, is Clarification: considering don't: this would be taken as 2 different 'words' in the ranges a-z and A-Z: (don and t). Optionally (it's too late to be formally changing the specifications now) you may choose to drop all single-letter 'words' (this could potentially make for a shortening of the ignore list too). Parse a given text (read a file specified via command line arguments or piped in; presume us-ascii) and build us a word frequency chart with the following characteristics: Display the chart (also see the example below) for the 22 most common words (ordered by descending frequency). The bar width represents the number of occurences (frequency) of the word (proportionally). Append one space and print the word. Make sure these bars (plus space-word-space) always fit: bar + [space] + word + [space] should be always <= 80 characters (make sure you account for possible differing bar and word lenghts: e.g.: the second most common word could be a lot longer then the first while not differing so much in frequency). Maximize bar width within these constraints and scale the bars appropriately (according to the frequencies they represent). An example: The text for the example can be found here (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll). This specific text would yield the following chart: _________________________________________________________________________ |_________________________________________________________________________| she |_______________________________________________________________| you |____________________________________________________________| said |____________________________________________________| alice |______________________________________________| was |__________________________________________| that |___________________________________| as |_______________________________| her |____________________________| with |____________________________| at |___________________________| s |___________________________| t |_________________________| on |_________________________| all |______________________| this |______________________| for |______________________| had |_____________________| but |____________________| be |____________________| not |___________________| they |__________________| so For your information: these are the frequencies the above chart is built upon: [('she', 553), ('you', 481), ('said', 462), ('alice', 403), ('was', 358), ('that ', 330), ('as', 274), ('her', 248), ('with', 227), ('at', 227), ('s', 219), ('t' , 218), ('on', 204), ('all', 200), ('this', 181), ('for', 179), ('had', 178), (' but', 175), ('be', 167), ('not', 166), ('they', 155), ('so', 152)] A second example (to check if you implemented the complete spec): Replace every occurence of you in the linked Alice in Wonderland file with superlongstringstring: ________________________________________________________________ |________________________________________________________________| she |_______________________________________________________| superlongstringstring |_____________________________________________________| said |______________________________________________| alice |________________________________________| was |_____________________________________| that |______________________________| as |___________________________| her |_________________________| with |_________________________| at |________________________| s |________________________| t |______________________| on |_____________________| all |___________________| this |___________________| for |___________________| had |__________________| but |_________________| be |_________________| not |________________| they |________________| so The winner: Shortest solution (by character count, per language). Have fun! Edit: Table summarizing the results so far (2012-02-15) (originally added by user Nas Banov): Language Relaxed Strict ========= ======= ====== GolfScript 130 143 Perl 185 Windows PowerShell 148 199 Mathematica 199 Ruby 185 205 Unix Toolchain 194 228 Python 183 243 Clojure 282 Scala 311 Haskell 333 Awk 336 R 298 Javascript 304 354 Groovy 321 Matlab 404 C# 422 Smalltalk 386 PHP 450 F# 452 TSQL 483 507 The numbers represent the length of the shortest solution in a specific language. "Strict" refers to a solution that implements the spec completely (draws |____| bars, closes the first bar on top with a ____ line, accounts for the possibility of long words with high frequency etc). "Relaxed" means some liberties were taken to shorten to solution. Only solutions shorter then 500 characters are included. The list of languages is sorted by the length of the 'strict' solution. 'Unix Toolchain' is used to signify various solutions that use traditional *nix shell plus a mix of tools (like grep, tr, sort, uniq, head, perl, awk).

  • Trying to sentinel loop this program.

    - by roger34
    Okay, I spent all this time making this for class but I have one thing that I can't quite get: I need this to sentinel loop continuously (exiting upon entering x) so that the System.out.println("What type of Employee? Enter 'o' for Office " + "Clerical, 'f' for Factory, or 's' for Saleperson. Enter 'x' to exit." ); line comes back up after they enter the first round of information. Also, I can't leave this up long on the (very) off chance a classmate might see this and steal the code. Full code following: import java.util.Scanner; public class Project1 { public static void main (String args[]){ Scanner inp = new Scanner( System.in ); double totalPay; System.out.println("What type of Employee? Enter 'o' for Office " + "Clerical, 'f' for Factory, or 's' for Saleperson. Enter 'x' to exit." ); String response= inp.nextLine(); while (!response.toLowerCase().equals("o")&&!response.toLowerCase().equals("f") &&!response.toLowerCase().equals("s")&&!response.toLowerCase().equals("x")){ System.out.print("\nInvalid selection,please enter your choice again:\n"); response=inp.nextLine(); } char choice = response.toLowerCase().charAt( 0 ); switch (choice){ case 'o': System.out.println("Enter your hourly rate:"); double officeRate=inp.nextDouble(); System.out.println("Enter the number of hours worked:"); double officeHours=inp.nextDouble(); totalPay = officeCalc(officeRate,officeHours); taxCalc(totalPay); break; case 'f': System.out.println("How many Widgets did you produce during the week?"); double widgets=inp.nextDouble(); totalPay=factoryCalc(widgets); taxCalc(totalPay); break; case 's': System.out.println("What were your total sales for the week?"); double totalSales=inp.nextDouble(); totalPay=salesCalc(totalSales); taxCalc(totalPay); break; } } public static double taxCalc(double totalPay){ double federal=totalPay*.22; double state =totalPay*.055; double netPay = totalPay - federal - state; federal =federal*Math.pow(10,2); federal =Math.round(federal); federal= federal/Math.pow(10,2); state =state*Math.pow(10,2); state =Math.round(state); state= state/Math.pow(10,2); totalPay =totalPay*Math.pow(10,2); totalPay =Math.round(totalPay); totalPay= totalPay/Math.pow(10,2); netPay =netPay*Math.pow(10,2); netPay =Math.round(netPay); netPay= netPay/Math.pow(10,2); System.out.printf("\nTotal Pay \t: %1$.2f.\n", totalPay); System.out.printf("State W/H \t: %1$.2f.\n", state); System.out.printf("Federal W/H : %1$.2f.\n", federal); System.out.printf("Net Pay \t: %1$.2f.\n", netPay); return totalPay; } public static double officeCalc(double officeRate,double officeHours){ double overtime=0; if (officeHours>=40) overtime = officeHours-40; else overtime = 0; if (officeHours >= 40) officeHours = 40; double otRate = officeRate * 1.5; double totalPay= (officeRate * officeHours) + (otRate*overtime); return totalPay; } public static double factoryCalc(double widgets){ double totalPay=widgets*.35 +300; return totalPay; } public static double salesCalc(double totalSales){ double totalPay = totalSales * .05 + 500; return totalPay; } }

    In an older version of our code, we called out from Perl to do an LDAP search as follows: # Pass the base DN in via the ldapsearch-specific environment variable # (rather than as the "-b" paramater) to avoid problems of shell # interpretation of special characters in the DN. $ENV{LDAP_BASEDN} = $ldn; $lcmd = "ldapsearch -x -T -1 -h $gLdapServer" . <snip> " > $lworkfile 2>&1"; system($lcmd); if (($? != 0) || (! -e "$lworkfile")) { # Handle the error } The code above would result in a successful LDAP search, and the output of that search would be in the file $lworkfile. Unfortunately, we recently reconfigured openldap on this server so that a "BASE DC=" is specified in /etc/openldap/ldap.conf and /etc/ldap.conf. That change seems to mean ldapsearch ignores the LDAP_BASEDN environment variable, and so my ldapsearch fails. I've tried a couple of different fixes but without success so far: (1) I tried going back to using the "-b" argument to ldapsearch, but escaping the shell metacharacters. I started writing the escaping code: my $ldn_escaped = $ldn; $ldn_escaped =~ s/\/\\/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/`/\`/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/$/\$/g; $ldn_escaped =~ s/"/\"/g; That threw up some Perl errors because I haven't escaped those regexes properly in Perl (the line number matches the regex with the backticks in). Backticks found where operator expected at /tmp/mycommand line 404, at end of line At the same time I started to doubt this approach and looked for a better one. (2) I then saw some Stackoverflow questions (here and here) that suggested a better solution. Here's the code: print("Processing..."); # Pass the arguments to ldapsearch by invoking open() with an array. # This ensures the shell does NOT interpret shell metacharacters. my(@cmd_args) = ("-x", "-T", "-1", "-h", "$gLdapPool", "-b", "$ldn", <snip> ); $lcmd = "ldapsearch"; open my $lldap_output, "-|", $lcmd, @cmd_args; while (my $lline = <$lldap_output>) { # I can parse the contents of my file fine } $lldap_output->close; The two problems I am having with approach (2) are: a) Calling open or system with an array of arguments does not let me pass > $lworkfile 2>&1 to the command, so I can't stop the ldapsearch output being sent to screen, which makes my output look ugly: Processing...ldap_bind: Success (0) additional info: Success b) I can't figure out how to choose which location (i.e. path and file name) to the file handle passed to open, i.e. I don't know where $lldap_output is. Can I move/rename it, or inspect it to find out where it is (or is it not actually saved to disk)? Based on the problems with (2), this makes me think I should return back to approach (1), but I'm not quite sure how to

  • Perl: Deleting multiple re-occuring lines where a certain criteria is met

    - by george-lule
    Dear all, I have data that looks like below, the actual file is thousands of lines long. Event_time Cease_time Object_of_reference -------------------------- -------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apr 5 2010 5:54PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSJN1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=LUGALAMBO_900 Apr 5 2010 5:55PM Apr 5 2010 6:43PM SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSJN1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=LUGALAMBO_900 Apr 5 2010 5:58PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA Apr 5 2010 5:58PM Apr 5 2010 6:01PM SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:01PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:03PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSJN1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=KAPKWAI_900 Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 6:04PM SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSJN1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=KAPKWAI_900 Apr 5 2010 6:04PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSJN1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=KAPKWAI_900 Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 6:03PM SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:03PM NULL SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 7:01PM SubNetwork=ONRM_RootMo,SubNetwork=AXE,ManagedElement=BSCC1,BssFunction= BSS_ManagedFunction,BtsSiteMgr=BULAGA As you can see, each file has a header which describes what the various fields stand for(event start time, event cease time, affected element). The header is followed by a number of dashes. My issue is that, in the data, you see a number of entries where the cease time is NULL i.e event is still active. All such entries must go i.e for each element where the alarm cease time is NULL, the start time, the cease time(in this case NULL) and the actual element must be deleted from the file. In the remaining data, all the text starting from word SubNetwork upto BtsSiteMgr= must also go. Along with the headers and the dashes. Final output should look like below: Apr 5 2010 5:55PM Apr 5 2010 6:43PM LUGALAMBO_900 Apr 5 2010 5:58PM Apr 5 2010 6:01PM BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 6:04PM KAPKWAI_900 Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 6:03PM BULAGA Apr 5 2010 6:03PM Apr 5 2010 7:01PM BULAGA Below is a Perl script that I have written. It has taken care of the headers, the dashes, the NULL entries but I have failed to delete the lines following the NULL entries so as to produce the above output. #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; $^I=".bak" #Backup the file before messing it up. open (DATAIN,"<george_perl.txt")|| die("can't open datafile: $!"); # Read in the data open (DATAOUT,">gen_results.txt")|| die("can't open datafile: $!"); #Prepare for the writing while (<DATAIN>) { s/Event_time//g; s/Cease_time//g; s/Object_of_reference//g; s/\-//g; #Preceding 4 statements are for cleaning out the headers my $theline=$_; if ($theline =~ /NULL/){ next; next if $theline =~ /SubN/; } else{ print DATAOUT $theline; } } close DATAIN; close DATAOUT; Kindly help point out any modifications I need to make on the script to make it produce the necessary output. Will be very glad for your help Kind regards George.

  • Selecting and inserting text at cursor location in textfield with JS/jQuery

    - by IceCreamYou
    Hello. I have developed a system in PHP which processes #hashtags like on Twitter. Now I'm trying to build a system that will suggest tags as I type. When a user starts writing a tag, a drop-down list should appear beneath the textarea with other tags that begin with the same string. Right now, I have it working where if a user types the hash key (#) the list will show up with the most popular #hashtags. When a tag is clicked, it is inserted at the end of the text in the textarea. I need the tag to be inserted at the cursor location instead. Here's my code; it operates on a textarea with class "facebook_status_text" and a div with class "fbssts_floating_suggestions" that contains an unordered list of links. (Also note that the syntax [#my tag] is used to handle tags with spaces.) maxlength = 140; var dest = $('.facebook_status_text:first'); var fbssts_box = $('.fbssts_floating_suggestions'); var fbssts_box_orig = fbssts_box.html(); dest.keyup(function(fbss_key) { if (fbss_key.which == 51) { fbssts_box.html(fbssts_box_orig); $('.fbssts_floating_suggestions .fbssts_suggestions a').click(function() { var tag = $(this).html(); //This part is not well-optimized. if (tag.match(/W/)) { tag = '[#'+ tag +']'; } else { tag = '#'+ tag; } var orig = dest.val(); orig = orig.substring(0, orig.length - 1); var last = orig.substring(orig.length - 1); if (last == '[') { orig = orig.substring(0, orig.length - 1); } //End of particularly poorly optimized code. dest.val(orig + tag); fbssts_box.hide(); dest.focus(); return false; }); fbssts_box.show(); fbssts_box.css('left', dest.offset().left); fbssts_box.css('top', dest.offset().top + dest.outerHeight() + 1); } else if (fbss_key.which != 16) { fbssts_box.hide(); } }); dest.blur(function() { var t = setTimeout(function() { fbssts_box.hide(); }, 250); }); When the user types, I also need get the 100 characters in the textarea before the cursor, and pass it (presumably via POST) to /fbssts/load/tags. The PHP back-end will process this, figure out what tags to suggest, and print the relevant HTML. Then I need to load that HTML into the .fbssts_floating_suggestions div at the cursor location. Ideally, I'd like to be able to do this: var newSuggestions = load('/fbssts/load/tags', {text: dest.getTextBeforeCursor()}); fbssts_box.html(fbssts_box_orig); $('.fbssts_floating_suggestions .fbssts_suggestions a').click(function() { var tag = $(this).html(); if (tag.match(/W/)) { tag = tag +']'; } dest.insertAtCursor(tag); fbssts_box.hide(); dest.focus(); return false; }); And here's the regex I'm using to identify tags (and @mentions) in the PHP back-end, FWIW. %(\A(#|@)(\w|(\p{L}\p{M}?))+\b)|((?<=\s)(#|@)(\w|(\p{L}\p{M}?))+\b)|(\[(#|@).+?\])%u Right now, my main hold-up is dealing with the cursor location. I've researched for the last two hours, and just ended up more confused. I would prefer a jQuery solution, but beggars can't be choosers. Thanks!

  • Peer did not return a certificate

    - by pfista
    I am trying to get two way SSL authentication working between a Python server and an Android client application. I have access to both the server and client, and would like to implement client authentication using my own certificate. So far I have been able to verify the server certificate and connect without client authentication. What sort of certificate does the client need and how do I get it to automatically send it to the server during the handshake process? Here is the client and server side code that I have so far. Is my approach wrong? Server Code while True: # Keep listening for clients c, fromaddr = sock.accept() ssl_sock = ssl.wrap_socket(c, keyfile = "serverPrivateKey.pem", certfile = "servercert.pem", server_side = True, # Require the client to provide a certificate cert_reqs = ssl.CERT_REQUIRED, ssl_version = ssl.PROTOCOL_TLSv1, ca_certs = "clientcert.pem", #TODO must point to a file of CA certificates?? do_handshake_on_connect = True, ciphers="!NULL:!EXPORT:AES256-SHA") print ssl_sock.cipher() thrd = sock_thread(ssl_sock) thrd.daemon = True thrd.start() I suspect I may be using the wrong file for ca_certs...? Client Code private boolean connect() { try { KeyStore keystore = KeyStore.getInstance("BKS"); // Stores the client certificate, to be sent to server KeyStore truststore = KeyStore.getInstance("BKS"); // Stores the server certificate we want to trust // TODO: change hard coded password... THIS IS REAL BAD MKAY truststore.load(mSocketService.getResources().openRawResource(R.raw.truststore), "test".toCharArray()); keystore.load(mSocketService.getResources().openRawResource(R.raw.keystore), "test".toCharArray()); // Use the key manager for client authentication. Keys in the key manager will be sent to the host KeyManagerFactory keyFManager = KeyManagerFactory.getInstance(KeyManagerFactory.getDefaultAlgorithm()); keyFManager.init(keystore, "test".toCharArray()); // Use the trust manager to determine if the host I am connecting to is a trusted host TrustManagerFactory trustMFactory = TrustManagerFactory.getInstance(TrustManagerFactory .getDefaultAlgorithm()); trustMFactory.init(truststore); // Create the socket factory and add both the trust manager and key manager SSLCertificateSocketFactory socketFactory = (SSLCertificateSocketFactory) SSLCertificateSocketFactory .getDefault(5000, new SSLSessionCache(mSocketService)); socketFactory.setTrustManagers(trustMFactory.getTrustManagers()); socketFactory.setKeyManagers(keyFManager.getKeyManagers()); // Open SSL socket directly to host, host name verification is NOT performed here due to // SSLCertificateFactory implementation mSSLSocket = (SSLSocket) socketFactory.createSocket(mHostname, mPort); mSSLSocket.setSoTimeout(TIMEOUT); // Most SSLSocketFactory implementations do not verify the server's identity, allowing man-in-the-middle // attacks. This implementation (SSLCertificateSocketFactory) does check the server's certificate hostname, // but only for createSocket variants that specify a hostname. When using methods that use InetAddress or // which return an unconnected socket, you MUST verify the server's identity yourself to ensure a secure // connection. verifyHostname(); // Safe to proceed with socket now ... I have generated a client private key, a client certificate, a server private key, and a server certificate using openssl. I then added the client certificate to keystore.bks (which I store in /res/raw/keystore.bks) I then added the server certificate to the truststore.bks So now when the client tries to connect I am getting this error server side: ssl.SSLError: [Errno 1] _ssl.c:504: error:140890C7:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_CLIENT_CERTIFICATE:peer did not return a certificate And when I try to do this in the android client SSLSession s = mSSLSocket.getSession(); s.getPeerCertificates(); I get this error: javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: No peer certificate So obviously the keystore I am using doesn't appear to have a correct peer certificate in it and thus isn't sending one to the server. What should I put in the keystore to prevent this exception? Furthermore, is this method of two way SSL authentication safe and effective?

  • Is it a missing implementation with JPA implementation of hibernate??

    - by Jegan
    Hi all, On my way in understanding the transaction-type attribute of persistence.xml, i came across an issue / discrepency between hibernate-core and JPA-hibernate which looks weird. I am not pretty sure whether it is a missing implementation with JPA of hibernate. Let me post the comparison between the outcome of JPA implementation and the hibernate implementation of the same concept. Environment Eclipse 3.5.1 JSE v1.6.0_05 Hibernate v3.2.3 [for hibernate core] Hibernate-EntityManger v3.4.0 [for JPA] MySQL DB v5.0 Issue 1.Hibernate core package com.expt.hibernate.core; import java.io.Serializable; public final class Student implements Serializable { private int studId; private String studName; private String studEmailId; public Student(final String studName, final String studEmailId) { this.studName = studName; this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } public int getStudId() { return this.studId; } public String getStudName() { return this.studName; } public String getStudEmailId() { return this.studEmailId; } private void setStudId(int studId) { this.studId = studId; } private void setStudName(String studName) { this.studName = stuName; } private void setStudEmailId(int studEmailId) { this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } } 2. JPA implementaion of Hibernate package com.expt.hibernate.jpa; import java.io.Serializable; import javax.persistence.Column; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue; import javax.persistence.Id; import javax.persistence.Table; @Entity @Table(name = "Student_Info") public final class Student implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue @Column(name = "STUD_ID", length = 5) private int studId; @Column(name = "STUD_NAME", nullable = false, length = 25) private String studName; @Column(name = "STUD_EMAIL", nullable = true, length = 30) private String studEmailId; public Student(final String studName, final String studEmailId) { this.studName = studName; this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } public int getStudId() { return this.studId; } public String getStudName() { return this.studName; } public String getStudEmailId() { return this.studEmailId; } } Also, I have provided the DB configuration properties in the associated hibernate-cfg.xml [in case of hibernate core] and persistence.xml [in case of JPA (hibernate entity manager)]. create a driver and perform add a student and query for the list of students and print their details. Then the issue comes when you run the driver program. • Arduino crashes when sending bytes from Java [on hold]

    - by francisaugusto
    I used the sample program from the arduino website in order to send and receive data via serial to my Arduino one. However, for some reason, even when I try to send only one byte, the Arduino crashes after a while. It doesn't happen if I send the chars manually via the IDE's own serial monitor. I wrote the following method to output the character to Arduino: public synchronized void serialWrite(char sendIt){ try { output.write((byte)'0'); output.flush(); for (int j=0;j<1000000000;j++){ } }catch (Exception e){System.out.println("Not connected...");} notify(); } What I try above is to send just one character when the method is called. I send just a '0' char for testing. After manually calling the method two or three times, Arduino crashes. Is there anything I should be looking into? The Arduino code: #include <SoftwareSerial.h> int buttonState=0; int lastButtonState=0; int buttonPushCounter=0; long previousMillis=0; long interval=250; int ledState=LOW; int ledState2=LOW; int ledState3=LOW; long timeElapsed=0; SoftwareSerial portOne(10,11); void setup(){ pinMode(3,OUTPUT); pinMode(4,OUTPUT); pinMode(5,OUTPUT); pinMode(2,INPUT); Serial.begin(9600); portOne.begin(9600); } boolean turnoff; void loop(){ if(portOne.overflow()){ Serial.println("There's an overflow here!"); } buttonState= digitalRead(2); if(buttonState!=lastButtonState){ if (buttonState==HIGH){ buttonPushCounter++; } } lastButtonState=buttonState; if (turnoff){ unsigned long currentMillis=millis(); if (currentMillis-previousMillis>0 && currentMillis-previousMillis<interval){ ledState=HIGH; ledState2=LOW; ledState3=LOW; }else if (currentMillis-previousMillis>interval && currentMillis-previousMillis<interval*2){ ledState=LOW; ledState2=LOW; ledState3=HIGH; }else if (currentMillis-previousMillis>interval*2 && currentMillis-previousMillis<interval*3){ ledState=LOW; ledState2=HIGH; ledState3=LOW; }else if (currentMillis-previousMillis>interval*3){ previousMillis=currentMillis; } digitalWrite(3,ledState); digitalWrite(4,ledState2); digitalWrite(5,ledState3); }else{ digitalWrite(3,LOW); digitalWrite(4,LOW); digitalWrite(5,LOW); } if (buttonPushCounter==1){ Serial.print("Button pressed!\n"); turnoff=!turnoff; buttonPushCounter=0; } noInterrupts(); char ch=Serial.read(); delay(1); if(ch=='0'){ Serial.println("Changed by serial"+turnoff); Serial.println(ch); turnoff=!turnoff; } interrupts(); }
