  We are building a Rails application for a client that wants to run the app locally to be close to their data center for best performance. I had assumed we would use a standard web host. What requirements should we demand of the client's infrastructure..all I can think of so far is remote access for developers and a Linux machine? We don't have server admin expertise so would need to contract this, I doubt the client has the expertise. Does this sound like a recipe for disastor?!

  Configuration is as follows: OpenSuse 12.1 minimal installation 64 bit ISPConfig 3.0.4.6 Everything runs smooth but if I activate SSL for apache2, the web server becomes unavailable. The log (error.log) fills with always the same segmentation fault error message (around 20 times a second) [notice] child pid 9178 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) ...   Can anyone tell me how to clear the cache in the Mail application on Snow Leopard? I noticed that it was automatically backing up my gmail messages so it ended up caching 11GB of emails even though that's more than my account. The only solution I seem to be able to find is to delete the files in /Users/me/Library/Mail/MyGmailAccount Is this the best solution or is there a better way?

  Hello, I'm looking for a nice way to add / remote ips (and possibly interact with an asset inventory system to track where ips are), start / stop processes, download logs, and all around genearal system admin duties from one place. It's okay if I require more than 1 program. That would still be better than having 50 million terminals open and trying to trace ip assignments etc on whiteboards.   I have a Windows 2008 server connecting to an iSCSI target on an OpenSolaris box (yay ZFS!). I'd like to create a private network between the 2 boxes that is totally separate of my Windows domain. What is the best way to configure the additional network adapter on the Windows machine so it doesn't think the new subnet is part of the Windows domain? I want to make sure Windows doesn't magically start spewing active directory communications over the private wire and that it doesn't start poisoning the DNS with IPs from the private network.

  I'm after some software to measure the power draw of a HP Server, namely a DL360 series. I know Nagios is used for logging and monitering but I'm not sure if it logs power usage as well. I've also tried to find the HP Server Management package but am not sure if this shows power usage either. I'm thinking my best bet would to buy some sort of device that goes inbetween the wall and the servers plug. Can anybody suggest what would do for me?

  Hi, I install apache, mysql, php and then phpmyadmin on ubuntu desktop 10.04 version I test apache: localhost with browser and its works. I test mysql with console and its works. I test phpmyadmin http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ and get error 404 not found I see that solution for that brobem, copy /phpmyadmin/ to /www/, but I dont want to put in /www/ to my websites files (maybe I wrong or miss something-please tell me in this case). How this problem can be solved in the best way? Thanks
