  This is very similar to a question I asked the other day but my page code has become significantly more complicated and I need to revisit it. I've been using the following code: $('#myLink').click(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'newImg.jpg'); setTimeout(function() { $('#myImg').attr('src', 'oldImg.jpg'); }, 15000); }); To replace an image for a set period of time (15 seconds) when the link is clicked, then after 15 seconds, revert to the original image. However now, I'd like to run a snippet of javascript as well when the link is clicked (in addition to replacing the image), and only when the link is clicked (it's related to the 15 second image) and then have the js code disappear as well after the 15 seconds...however I'm not sure how to have jquery send js code into the page...Basically I just want jQuery to "echo" this code onto the page underneath the 15 second while I am there, but I don't know how jquery formats this "echo". Does this question make sense?

• Using MongoDB with Ruby On Rails and the Mongomapper plugin

  Hello, i am currently trying to learn Ruby On Rails as i am a long-time PHP developer so i am building my own community like page. I have came pritty far and have made the user models and suchs using MySQL. But then i heard of MongoDB and looked in to it a little bit more and i find it kinda nice. So i have set it up and i am using mongomapper for the connection between rails and MongoDB. And i am now using it for the News page on the site. I also have a profile page for every User which includes their own guestbook so other users can come to their profile and write a little message to them. My thought now is to change the User models from using MySQL to start using MongoDB. I can start by showing how the models for each User is set up. The user model: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :guestbook, :class_name => "User::Guestbook" The Guestbook model model: class User::Guestbook < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user has_many :posts, :class_name => "User::Guestbook::Posts", :foreign_key => "user_id" And then the Guestbook posts model: class User::Guestbook::Posts < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :guestbook, :class_name => "User::Guestbook" I have divided it like this for my own convenience but now when i am going to try to migrate to MongoDB i dont know how to make the tables. I would like to have one table for each user and in that table a "column" for all the guestbook entries since MongoDB can have a EmbeddedDocument. I would like to do this so i just have one Table for each user and not like now when i have three tables just to be able to have a guestbook. So my thought is to have it like this: The user model: class User include MongoMapper::Document one :guestbook, :class_name => "User::Guestbook" The Guestbook model model: class User::Guestbook include MongoMapper::EmbeddedDocument belongs_to :user many :posts, :class_name => "User::Guestbook::Posts", :foreign_key => "user_id" And then the Guestbook posts model: class User::Guestbook::Posts include MongoMapper::EmbeddedDocument belongs_to :guestbook, :class_name => "User::Guestbook" But then i can think of one problem.. That when i just want to fetch the user information like a nickname and a birthdate then it will have to fetch all the users guestbook posts. And if each user has like a thousand posts in the guestbook it will get really much to fetch for the system. Or am i wrong? Do you think i should do it any other way?   Hi! I'm trying to compose two videos, and I'm using the alpha plug-in to make the white color transparent. To test the alpha plug-in I'm creating the pipeline with gst-launch. The first test I done was: gst-launch videotestsrc pattern=smpte75 \ ! alpha method=custom target-r=255 target-g=255 target-b=255 angle=10 \ ! videomixer name=mixer ! ffmpegcolorspace ! autovideosink \ videotestsrc pattern=snow ! mixer. and it works great! • Using Knockout.js to bind bootstrap daterange picker and parse span contents

  I'm new to knockout and trying to get what should be a simple task up and running. I'm working on an MVC4 .NET app with the intention of binding a date range picker to make ajax requests for updating Highchart graph data. I'm using Dan Grossman's bootstrap-themed date picker and it's been great so far (https://github.com/dangrossman/bootstrap-daterangepicker). The basic goal is to watch the span that this jQuery date ranger picker updates, and then use knockout to pass this value to another part of the app for the ajax request. I've tried everything I can find online.. valueUpdate:change on the span to using some jQuery within knockout to get the same goal done, to using a subscribe function to watch the value of the span before and after the date picker is used. Apparently this uses the jQuery .change() event handler, which is only good on inputs, selects, and textareas.. not spans. • jQueryUI Ajax.NET Postback Bug

  Hi, I have this ASP.NET page with ASP.NET UpdatePanel and jQueryUI droppable and sortable components. The page works fine in all browsers, but doesn't in Internet Explorer (IE8 tested). After I try to call ASP.NET AJAX event (by pressing my asp.net button inside the UpdatePanel) my sortable list stops working properly inside IE browser and the browser throws the following error: Message: Unspecified error. Line: 145 Char: 186 Code: 0 URI: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I found out that the problem is caused by the code on line 66: $("#droppable").droppable(); If I comment it out, the sortable list works fine after ajax postbacks. But it doesn't make sense. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks. P.S. I am using jQueryUI 1.8.1 and jQuery 1.4.2

  I have some code in an XML file that I load and compile at runtime in an application. This works fine on Windows, but under Mono I get assembly reference errors. The specific errors I get in the compiler results are: cannot find metadata file 'system.dll' at line 0 column 0. cannot find metadata file 'system.xml.dll' at line 0 column 0. Mono obviously doesn't like the way I add referenced assemblies to the code I'm compiling for system.xml and system.xml.dll. The other two assemblies add fine, which is no surprise because they're the code that the compiler is actually executing from and exist in the executable directory. Any clue what I need to do to fix this? Maybe I could just drop those DLLs in the executable directory, but that feels like a dumb idea.

  I'm using jqGrid for a JIRA plugin and have included the jquery and jqgrid libraries as web resources. I've set up a column in jqGrid as required and when I try to submit the form with the respective column empty I get an error in firebug: jQuery.jgrid is undefined jQuery.jgrid is null but $.jgrid has the correct data. Does anyone know how I can set up jqgrid so that it points to the $.jgrid without having to change all the source code? or any other way round this? Thanks

• ASP.Net MVC2 Client and Server Validation sharing the same code - is it possible?

  With the excellent XVal by Steve Sanderson, it is possible to tell the client side validation to post the value being validated to the server using jquery. A method on the server then uses the same server side code you use for your server side validation, and returns simply a true or false to determine if the field is valid. The advantage of this method is that you write your complex validation logic once in C# code and then put some JQuery plumbing in to tell your client page where to go to access your server validation. I have been reading some blogs on MVC2 but no one seems to mention this functionality. Is it possible to tell the Microsoft MVC validation javascript to call a url validate data? Or do you have to write your own client side validation routines. I should note that using the xVal method a custom validation to say if an email address is in use or not can be run from the client via a JQuery post which accesses the server side validation logic.

DBGP is installed successfully and configured with 127.0.0.1 but XDebugger is still not connecting/working with notepad++.

  I've been using StructureMap for about 6 months now; you would think it would start getting easier. It doesn't seem to. Here's the first line of my registry: For<IDbConnection>() .Singleton() .Use<SqlConnection>() .Ctor<string>(WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["UnifiedConnectionString"].ConnectionString); It compiles and runs. But when I try to use that Interface, like this: return MsSqlConfiguration.MsSql2008.ConnectionString(((DbConnection)ObjectFactory.GetInstance<IDbConnection>()).ConnectionString); I get StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily System.Data.IDbConnection, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 Now I may be missing something (okay, I obviously am), but I don't know how much more plain I can be about defining the default instance for IDbConnection. What am I doing wrong?

  I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.

• deploying a styles library for plugin developers

  I have an application that my customers can write plugins (that have WPF UIs) for. Now I would like to expose a set of styles as a library that they can use and that will help them with the development of the UIs sO they don't have to reivent the weel. How would I idealy expose those styles without actually having to deploy a lot of xaml files? How is something like this usually done in WPF so it does not break tooling support (blend, vs). How do I expose it and how does the cusomer reference those styles?

• Subclipse plugin doesn't work in Eclipse?

  Hi, even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all? I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers". After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. I followed the steps described here: http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/jreality/mediawiki/index.php/Subclipse_installation_in_eclipse_galileo. But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now. Finally after 3 hours of trying I am giving up. Does anyone have any hint what I am missing? Thanks! Peter

  Hi, I am working on a GWT application which uses GWT-RPC.
