  • C# - Using a copy of Session-stored variables instead of reference

    I have an asp:ImageButton with OnClick="Btn_OnClick". In Btn_OnClick I have this line: DataTable dtTable = (DataTable)Session["someSessionKey"] and dtTable is altered in the function. I've noticed that if the button's clicked more than once, the dtTable I take from the session contains the altered table, probably meaning dtTable is not a copy but a reference of the session variable. How can I alter a copy of Session["someSessionKey"], and not the actual value? Thanks!

    Hi all: I got stuck in this problem for an hour. I am thinking this is something relates to variable scoping ? I can see Firebug console outputs the route ids with no problem at all. Do I have to switch from Time.now to Time.zone.now, everywhere? Seems cumbersome. I truly don't care what the local time of the server is, it's giving me loads of trouble due to extensive use of Time.now. Am I misunderstanding anything fundamental here?

    The goal is to mine packet headers for URLs visited using tcpdump. So far, I can save a packet header to a file using: tcpdump "dst port 80 and tcp[13] & 0x08 = 8" -A -s 300 | tee -a ./Desktop/packets.txt And I've written a program to parse through the header and extract the URL when given the following command: cat ~/Desktop/packets.txt | ./packet-parser.exe But what I want to be able to do is pipe tcpdump directly into my program, which will then log the data: tcpdump "dst port 80 and tcp[13] & 0x08 = 8" -A -s 300 | ./packet-parser.exe Here is the script as it is.     When I'm running Devel::Cover with ModPerl::Registry, I get no coverage info except for BEGIN blocks. When I'm running the same script with Devel::Cover from command line or as a CGI, everything works alright (obviously). How can I make Devel::Cover "see" my code being executed in the runtime?   • Why is Reporting Services report vastly slower than its query?

    I have a query that takes roughly 2 minutes to run. It's not terribly complex in terms of parameters or anything, and the report itself doesn't do any truly extensive processing. Basically just spits the data straight out in a nice format. (Actually one of the reports doesn't format the data at all, just returns a flat table meant to be manipulated in excel.) It's not returning a massive set of data either. Yet the report takes upwards of 30 minutes to run. What could cause this? This is SSRS 2005 against a SQL 2005 database btw. EDIT: OK, I found that with the addition of WITH (NOLOCK) in the report it takes the same time as the query does through SSMS. Why would the query be handled differently if it's coming from reporting services (or visual studio on my local machine) than if coming from SSMS on my local machine? I saw the query running in Activity Monitor a couple times in SLEEP_WAIT mode, but not blocked by anything... EDIT2: The connection string is: Data Source=SERVERNAME;Initial Catalog=DBName

    Hey everyone! I'm using a Paypal add to cart button for a simple ecommerce website. I had a Paypal IPN handler written in PHP that was successfully working for 'Buy it Now' buttons and purchasing one item at a time. I would run a database query each time to update the store's inventory to reflect the purchase. Now I'm upgrading this store to a 'cart' version so people could check out with multiple items at a time. Would anyone be able to tell me, in general, how my IPN handler would need to be altered to accommodate this?     Yes, I know you need a unique resource id when calling the version of these functions that requires a key, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to create a resource id that can be used in this way. A final variable in my class wont work and neither will a hard coded value. Both threw an IllegalArgumentException. So what gives, how do you use these methods? Spara
