• How to use the Response from PHP in Objective-C?

  I've managed to post and get datas from PHP thru objective-c. However, the response from the server looks like the following: ["ARC101","ARC112","ARC124","ARC203","ARC222","ARC251","ARC281","ARC305","ARC314","ARC344","ARC353","ARC363","ARC408","ARC416","ARC426","ARC482"] And, some responses could be more complicated like the following: [{"Code":"ARC101","Title":"Design Studio-I: Design Princi","Instructor":"Mike Cohen","Activity":"LAB","Days":"MW","Room":"B01","Bldg":"19","Section":"1","StartTime":"1310","EndTime":"1550","CallNo":"20438","Priority":null,"Open":"Open","HasAct":false,"CodeAct":null,"TitleAct":null,"InstructorAct":null] What would be your suggestion if I want to play with these datas? for example, putting them on a table ,etc. Thanks in Advance!

• having trouble with jpa, looks to be reading from cache when told to ignore

If the given string mystring is changed to string as shown in the following snippet. The string held by concat11 doesn't seem to be interned. What am I overlooking here? I have tested on Java 7, update 11.

• Reading Values Returned by SQLDataSource Before Binding to FormView

  I have a FormView that shows posts by users. I'd like to add Edit and Delete commands to the post to let the original author edit or delete their post. I'd like these commands to be available to only the author. The FormView is populated by a SqlDataSource that uses a stored procedure. I was thinking I would set the Edit and Delete hyperlink to Visible=False, then compare the currently signed in user guid to the guid of the post's author, and make the hyperlinks visible if the two guids are the same. I've tried using the Selected event of the SqlDataSource to capture the guid (which is returned by the stored procedure) however I can't find way to get the values returned by this datasource. How do I access the values returned by a SqlDataSource before they get databound?

• ASP.NET MVC 2 - Checkboxes

  I'm using string[] roles = Roles.GetAllRoles() to get a string[] of all the ASP.NET membership roles for my application. I'm sending the roles to my view in ViewData and using a foreach to create a set of Checkboxes using <%: Html.CheckBox("RoleCheckBox") %>. There are 3 roles and my view does render 3 checkboxes. When I do a View/Source, I see the checkboxes and their corresponding hidden tags. They all have the same, so there are 6 tags with the name "RoleCheckBox" - 3 that render the checkboxes and 3 that are hidden. The problem comes when I post the form back to my controller and bind the results - something like public ActionResult Create(Person person, string[] RoleCheckBox). I get FOUR strings and I have no idea where the fourth string ("false") is coming from. I could do some testing by trying various combinations of checks to see which one (hopefully) doesn't change and ignore it but that's just ugly. Does anyone know why this would be happening?   Somewhat straightforward: will asp:Validators still perform validation when they're in invisible containers? How about if their ControlToValidate target is invisible? For example: <asp:Panel id="myPanel" runat="server" visible="false"> <asp:Textbox id="myTextbox" runat="server" /> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator id="myRfv" runat="server" controltovalidate="myTextbox" /> </asp:Panel> Above is a Validator in an invisible Panel. Would myRfv still perform validation? How about if myTextbox is invisible instead? I'm asking this because I have very specialized Validators in my ASPX, wherein I also have Panels which are hidden/shown dynamically. While I'm all for disabling the validators themselves, I'm just curious whether they'll automatically disable anyway. Thanks guys! :D

  I cannot figure out how to get rid of errors that basically should not be halting my compile in VS 2010 and should not be show stoppers, or at least I will fix them later but I don't want the compile to just error and halt on these kinds of problems.   Hi, I have an app that loads an ajax form when a button is clicked. I then want to check a value in that ajax loaded form called "comment_content" so that I don't send an ajax request if the comment_content is empty. I can capture the form submission using the live method, however, I can't capture the form element because it needs an element. I was looking at livequery but was wondering if there is a more efficient way by using live or if that I shouldn't even bother?   As you know, in Eclipse you can turn on "Unnecessary 'else' statement" check that will trigger on if-then-else with premature return. And, from my experience, there are two most possible situations when use such statement: 1) Pre-check: if (validate(arg1)) { return false; } doLotOfStuff(); 2) Post-check: doLotOfStuff(); if (condition) { return foo; } else { return bar; } In the second case, if the trigger is on, Eclipse will suggest you to change the code to: doLotOfStuff(); if (condition) { return foo; } return bar; However, I think that the return with else statement is more readable as it is like direct mapping of business logic. So I am curios if this "Unnecessary 'else' statement" code convention is widespread or else statement is more preferable?

  I have a drop down which has a method which binds data to it: dropDown.Items.Clear() dropDown.AppendDataBoundItems = True Select Case selType Case SelectionTypes.Empty dropDown.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("", "")) Case SelectionTypes.Any dropDown.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("ANY", "")) Case SelectionTypes.Select dropDown.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("Select One", "")) End Select BindDropDown(val) The BindDropDown method simply sets the datasource, datakeyname, datavaluename, and then databinds the data. For a reason which I cannot avoid, I MUST call this method twice sometimes. When it is called twice, All of the databound items show up two times, but the top item (the one I manually insert) is there only once. Is ASP doing something wierd when i databind twice even though i clear the list between? Or does it have to do something with the viewstate/controlstate? EDIT__ The entire page, and this control has EnableViewState="false" EDIT___ The dropdown is inside a form view. After the selected value is set I have to rebind the dropdown just in case the selected value is not there [because it is an inactive user]. After this, the formview duplicates the databound items.

  I always wondered why jQuery returns true if I'm trying to find elements by id selector that doesnt exist in the DOM structure. Like this: <div id="one">one</div> <script> console.log( !!$('#one') ) // prints true console.log( !!$('#two') ) // is also true! (empty jQuery object) console.log( !!document.getElementById('two') ) // prints false </script> I know I can use !!$('#two').length since length === 0 if the object is empty, but it seems logical to me that a selector would return the element if found, otherwise null (like the native document.getElementById does). F.ex, this logic can't be done in jQuery: var div = $('#two') || $('<div id="two"></div>'); Wouldnt it be more logical if the ID selector returned null if not found? anyone?

• Elegant way for a recursive C++ template to do something different with the leaf class?

  I have a C++ class template that makes an Array of pointers. This also gets typedefed to make Arrays of Arrays and so on: typedef Array<Elem> ElemArray; typedef Array<ElemArray> ElemArrayArray; typedef Array<ElemArrayArray> ElemArrayArrayArray; I would like to be able to set one leaf node from another by copying the pointer so they both refer to the same Elem. But I also want to be able to set one Array (or Array of Arrays etc) from another. In this case I don't want to copy the pointers, I want to keep the arrays seperate and descend into each one until I get to the leaf node, at where I finally copy the pointers. I have code that does this (below). When you set something in an Array it calls a CopyIn method to do the copying. But because this is templated it also has to call the CopyIn method on the leaf class, which means I have to add a dummy method to every leaf class that just returns false. I have also tried adding a flag to the template to tell it whether it contains Arrays or not, and so whether to call the CopyIn method. This works fine - the CopyIn method of the leaf nodes never gets called, but it still has to be there for the compile to work! • How to prevent the beep sound caused by alt key pressed in a WinForms TextBox?

  I'm creating a routine that allows the user to replicate keyboard shortcuts into a textbox for 'custom keyboard shortcuts' customization, but every time the alt key is pressed with another letter, it produces another sound. I'm capturing the keys in the textbox_keydown event to parse the modifiers + other keys into a readable Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + B manner into that very same textbox. Should I be doing this in a different event like textbox_previewkey instead of textbox_keydown? How can I prevent the alt modifier key + a letter or number causing the Beep sound? the textbox is just a normal .net 3.5 textbox with the only edited properties of it being the ReadOnly property to false. Is there a better way I could re-do this? I'm currently just checking that if any modifiers keys are pressed and then + a-z or 0-9, then to go ahead and input the appropriately pressed keys into that same textbox like Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + Y.

• Detect template presence at compilation time

  GCC up to 4.5 doesn't have standard C++0x type trait template has_nothrow_move_constructor. I could use it in my package for optimization, but I don't want to rule out one of the common compilers and don't want to overload configuration with symbols like HAVE_STD_HAS_NOTHROW_MOVE_CONSTRUCTOR. Is it somehow possible to use that template if present and just fall back to copying if not present without using any predefined configuration symbols? I also don't want to depend on Boost, since my library is small and doesn't need Boost for any other reasons. In pseudocode, I need something like: template <typename type> struct has_nothrow_move_constructor_robust : public integral_constant <bool, /* if possible */ has_nothrow_move_constructor <type>::value /* otherwise */ false> { }; Since move constructors are only for C++0x anyway, I don't mind using other C++0x features for the above definition, if at all possible.

• C# implementation of PushbackInputStream

  I need a C# implementation of Java's PushbackInputStream. I have made my own very basic one, but I wondered if there was a well tested and decently performing version already available somewhere. As it happens I always push back the same bytes I read so really it just needs to be able to reposition backwards, buffering up to a number of bytes I specify. (like Java's BufferedInputStream with the mark and reset methods). Update: I should add that I can't simply reposition the stream as CanSeek may be false. (e.g. when the input steam is a NetworkStream)
